Password Protect a presentation?

Is there a way to password-protect a presentation so that one must enter a password to even LAUNCH the creation?
Thanks.

  • How do I restore a password-protected backup?

    How can I restore a backup that's password protected?
    Problem steps:
    1) I had a password-protected iPad receiving push email from my company for more than a year.
    2) This morning, I had to re-enroll it and change the password to meet more stringent standards.
    3) The change said it was successful, but after the iPad went to sleep and I woke it up, it didn't recognize the new password.
    4) It also didn't recognize the old password.
    5) It also didn't recognize the original 4-digit password that I'd put on the machine when I first got it.
    6) I went to our mobile device management webpage and issued the clear password command while my iPad was connected to the wifi network.
    7) The MDM page announced that the command had been sent successfully.
    8) The iPad never prompted me for a new password.
    9) It still didn't recognize the old password.
    10) It still didn't recognize the original password.
    11) I had to let the iPad wipe itself clean after ten mis-tries so I could restore from last week's backup.
    12) When I issue the restore command, I'm prompted for a password. It says that the old password (and the original password and the new password) are all incorrect and won't do a restore.
    When I plugged the iPad in this afternoon to find out when my latest backup was (after I had discovered that it was having problems), could it have transferred the corruption from the iPad to the Mac's backup file? The backup file still has last week's date on it. I have a complete disk backup of the Mac from earlier last week as well as it's connected to a Time Machine backup. What can I do to get my data back?
    I've got two books I've been annotating since last summer so I can create presentations about them and teach from them, and now everything's gone.
    This is an iPad 1, running iOS 5.0.0.
    The Mac is a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8

    Found it.
    The restore password is not the same as the passcode to access the iPad. (After putting 6-digit codes in all day, I think I'd been conditioned to continue using those codes.) I found the backup password in the Keychain.

  • How to display in browser a password protected pdf file I created?

    I created a password protected pdf file.
    I want to display the file in browser so that viewers can only view it online.
    It is better that viewers cannot download it.
    But I donot know how to prevent viewers downloading the file.
    Since the pdf is password protected, viewers don't have the password even they download it.
    But how can I display the password protected pdf file in browser when I know the password?
    Or is there a better to just viewers see the pdf file online and prevent them from downloading and printing it?

    Any file on the web has to be copied to the local machine in order for the file content to be presented to the viewer. That's how the "www" is built.  So, to make use of your web based PDF the file has to be downloaded to the local machine. This might be to the local machine's temporary internet / browser cache or (via a 'save this to my computer') to some other location on the local machine's HDD. Bottom line -- web based files get downloaded this is the case for protected file or a non-protected file.
    Be well...

  • How to open a password-protected PDF in Safari on iPad(3)?

    I have some password-protected PDFs available on my public-facing website (hosted by MS Office365) that I'm unable to open in Safari on my iPad(3). When attempting to open these files using Safari on my iPad, I receive a grey screen with no presentation of the Adobe Reader "insert password" dialogue box. I do have Adobe Reader installed on my iPad. These PDFs do open on my PC with both IE9 and Safari. I can also open these PDFs on my iPad independent of using Safari. And, I have some non-password-protected PDFs on my website that open using Safari on my iPad. The problem seems to be uniquely associated with the combination of 1) a password-protected PDF, 2) Safari, and 3) the iPad(3). Does anyone have a solution to this particular situation?

    Someone on another forum said you can with the app Goodreader Lite, but I haven't gotten to try it yet. I will let you know in about 45 minutes.

  • Is there a way to password protect iCloud documents?

    Is There a way to password protect iCloud documents on my Mac and on iPad?

    Roger not so fast. Check this out: I own a studio with about 8 staff ranging from accounts, editors, creative directors and client services. Sometimes, there's even an intern or an outside contractor present for a period of time. So far we use pages and numbers to handle all the scripts, schedules, shot lists, etc and I'd like to also store some of the admin contents (again, files generated in pages, begging for iCloud), proposals, budgets... They should at the very least, let you password protect a folder.
    It's so surprising that Apple doesn't simply extend their now FANTASTIC App/iCloud/Device integration ever so slightly in the direction of the SMALL PRODUCTION HOUSE. I have thouroughly investigated everything from Studiometry to Rule to Evernote. Bloat. Bloat. And more bloat!
    Apple while you're at it, offer domain name resolution so we can actually use the email service. Right now half my setup is tangled up with google apps and gmail. I shudder at the thought.
    Ps I'd have separate apple accounts for each employee but nothing beats the single integration of iCal and contacts etc.

  • Crash when editing a Password Protected page

    I have an issue with a Mac user that is trying to edit a site
    I created. Some folders on this site are password protected –
    meaning that pages on the site require user names and passwords to
    be entered for them to be viewed by web surfers. This user can log
    on and edit parts of the site that are not password protected but
    when he navigates to a folder that is, and chooses a page to edit,
    his computer locks up. Normally, when one of my PC users chooses a
    page to edit that requires a password, from within CT, they are
    presented the security window and prompted to enter the info. Once
    entered, CT allows assess to the page for editing as normal.
    Anyone know why the Mac is locking up when this user tries to
    edit a page with a password?
    This user can “surf” the site with their version
    of Safari or Firefox and view password protected pages – just
    not from within CT
    We are using CT CS4

    The error occurs when they use the choose button. And, that
    is currently the only way to get access to those pages since all of
    the password protected pages do not have direct links. These page
    links are sent out via email ( with un and pw info ) so clients can
    get direct access.
    I do not know if he has tried typing the url directly in the
    address bar ( can that even be done ?)
    The only thing else I've learned is that he is running OS
    10.4.11.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Trouble Connecting To Password Protected Networks

    Hello. I'm having trouble with the wireless side of life.
    I'm in Japan and I'm trying to connect to YahooBB wireless with my macbook. Everytime I enter the password, there is a message saying the connection has failed. I have also tried to connect wirelessly at work. I enter their password and I get the connection failed message. The only place I can connect is at the Apple Store which doesn't require a password.
    Could there be a reason as to why I can't connect with a password protected network? I correctly enter the passwords over and over again.
    Excuse me for such a silly question (I'm new to Mac) but...do I need to purchase Airport Express to connect at work or with YahooBB? I've always assumed there was no need.
    Thanks for your help.

    What's the difference between hex and ASCII?
    It is only how the information is presented. Humans can remember the ASCII string easier. The underying bits are the same. You can use tables like this one to convert back and forth between the ASCII characters and their hexadecimal representation.
    If you can, the best wireless encryption to use is WPA2. If you can't use WPA2, use WPA.
    128 bit WEP is very strong and adequate in most circumstances.
    64 bit WEP (sometimes called 40 bit WEP) is very weak and should be avoided.
    The type of encryption needs to be set on the wireless router (base station). Your Mac will then present you the correct dialog box to enter the password.

  • Password protected JDev10g 9052 build 1618

    I downloaded the jdev9052.zip file from otn yesterday since I like to keep up to date on my development tools.
    When I unpacked it today, I was presented with the message that several files were password protected. What's up with that?
    The files are:
    * javaw.exe
    * hpi.dll
    * ioser12.dll
    * java.dll
    * net.dll
    * jvm.dll
    * verify.dll
    * zip.dll
    Can somebody PLEASE direct me to a passphrase I can use to unpack these files.
    And might I add; If this is a stunt from Oracle to increase the purchase level of it's products, it might be usefull to provide information on this before people start downloading what they think is a fully operational product.

    One impact of extracting on top of an old version of the product is that any extensions you had for the old version will continue to be loaded in the new version. Because the extension API has changed, these may fail at runtime in unexpected ways. Basically, files don't get deleted that have been removed in the new release.
    This of course brings up the old debate about whether JDev should have an installer... with an installer, you wouldn't have to worry about this (it would be the job of the installer to worry about it).
    That said, a lot of people really like the simple zip-and-go approach JDev takes to installation. Just always zip-and-go somewhere fresh... that's the tested and supported configuration, and we've had a few reports of problems when customers have extracted atop old releases.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • My livecycle designer es4 form needs password protection for parts of the form

    I  have a form created in livecycle designer es4 that will be used by Adobe Reader users in three stages. The first stage is setting up choices on the form, saving them and passwordprotecting this Save. The form will be used three more times, each time saved as a new file.
    How do I password protect each saved version from a command button?

    Greetings,
    You have a couple of options depending on whether you need to display the number when the form is created, or saved.
    You will need a 'Back-end' data store - most likely a database with a table that at a minimum keeps track of the last used number.
    If you are saving the data from the form into a database, you could return the number to the user after saving the data ( and generating the associated number )
    If you are wanting to display the number when the form is first opened, you will need to set up an action profile that fires when the form opens to call the back-end and get the next number.
    There is no guarantee that the user will save this form, so you may end up with gaps in your sequence if you are assigning numbers other than when saving.
    The forum has many posts on loading data into forms before presentation, and also some on using web services to push and pull data from forms.
    Hope this helps

  • Password Protection App apple/3rd Party

    i just swiched over from a crackberry to an iphone. I was wondering if there is a password protection/wallet app. I had one on the crackberry and its been very helpful.
    Are ther any add on apps?
    thanks
    brad

    Third party applications cannot be installed onto the iPhone at the present time.
    A number of web-based games and applications formatted specifically for use on the iPhone have sprung up, including some "password vault"-type applications. I have serious reservations about putting my passwords on a "secure" website that I know nothing about.

  • How to password protect a directory in Tomcat?

    Hi there,
    My configuration is as follows.
    Apache2 + mod_jk + Tomcat 5
    I have enabled the CGI processing servlet (org.apache.catalina.servlets.CGIServlet) in $CATALINA_HOME/conf/web.xml file. Now I can successfully run my perl CGI scripts. All my CGI scripts are located in the directory $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/mywebapp/WEB-INF/cgi/
    I want to secure these CGI scripts by password protecting the above mentioned directory.
    I've read the docs and I think configuring the conf/server.xml file along with conf/tomcat-users.xml file is the best way of doing it. Am I right?? If so, can anyone here please tell me how to proceed with this? What do I need to add to server.xml and tomcat-users.xml to password protect the afore mentioned directory?
    Thank you very much for reading. I really appreciate your response.
    Regards,
    Shashi

    Thanks for a quick reply, Tolmank! You might not be aware of how the CGI servlet shipped with Tomcat works. Here is the relevant portion of the conf/web.xml file for your reference.

  • Opening a password protected document by PDDocOpenEx()

    Hello,
    I need to open password protected PDF files in my application (not an Acrobat or Reader plug-in). I have the Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed in my computer. I found on the web that it can be done by calling the PDDocOpenEx() function. What I want ask is:
    Is PDDocOpenEx() implemented in Acrobat 9 SDK or do I have to purchase Adobe PDF Library SDK?
    Is there an example (or at least a Visual Studio project template to see what libraries must be included in the project?)
    Thanks in advance.

    If you want to open PDF files in your own application w/o the need for Acrobat or Reader present, then you need the Adobe PDFLibrary - that's what it does is add PDF functionality to your application.
