Password Protect a Publisher Document

Hi,
Please can anyone let me know whether it is possible to password protect a Publisher 2007 document.
Many Thanks.

So far as I know, we couldn't add the password within Publisher itself, but we can save it in a password protected zip folder.

  • How do I password-protect a PDF document that doesn't let me change the security settings?

I want to password-protect my PDF document (so when I email it, it can only be opened/read by intended recipients as it contains confidential/sensitive information) but when I go into document security, I'm unable to change the Security Method (which is currently set to 'No Security' - not by me).  There's a 'show details' icon but it's grey so I can't click on it.  What can I do to protect this document from being opened by non-intended recipients?

Ah, yes, I'm using Adobe Reader!  That makes sense.  Thanks so much for your reply.  At the moment, I scan Word documents into my computer and they're automatically converted to PDFs.  If I had Adobe Acrobat on my computer, and scanned in documents, would they open in Reader automatically or could I open them in Acrobat and therefore add password protection?

  • How do i password protect a pages document?

i have a document that i created in pages.  it is a worksheet for brides (we are wedding photographers).  i use to have the document set up so when i email the document to a client, they can read the questions/timeline but cannot edit my text.  i have cells in tables that they can answer in.  the cells were grey in color.  the way i did this was by maybe putting a password on the document (which left the area grey for them to respond in).  but i cannot remeber how i did this.  i'm wondering if anyone knows what i'm talking about and/or how to do it.

Password protection prevents a document from being opened without the password.
Locking an object (such as a text box or table) prevents the object of its contents from being altered without first unlocking the object. No password protection is available for this, though, so the recipient could easily unlock the object and change its content.
At least one of Adobe's PDF applications offers the features you want—non-editable base document with fields that can be filled by the user, then saved and the file returned.

  • Password Protect a Pages document

How can I set a password protect on a document when saving it?

Another method is to save it as a password locked PDF.
    From your open Document, Print,
    click on the PDF dropdown
    Save as PDF
Click Security Options and set a password.
    Save.
Whether this suits your needs I don't know. I thought I'd throw it in there.

Yes but you need Adobe Acrobat to do it. Keep in mind that there are many ways around pdf security...

  • How to password protect a numbers document

I'm trying to figure out how to password protect a numbers document.
My intention is to load this document onto a website, but only want authorized persons with the correct password to be able to access.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

    I am using Numbers 08
And the Numbers User Guide, supplied with iWork '08, make no mention of password protection, which was introduced in Numbers '09.
Looks like the best option is Wayne's second suggestion—open via File > Print > PDF > Open in Preview, then Save the resulting PDF document with encryption turned on.
An alternate, if you want the recipients to receive a copy of the Numbers '08 file, and to be able to edit that file, you could enclose it in a secure disk image file.
    The basic procedure is to:
Use Disk Utility to create a new, blank, sparse disk image, assign a password and save.
Double-click the .dmg file (and enter the password when requested) to mount the disk image on your desktop, then Save a copy of your file to the (open) disk image.
When done, eject the image, and upload the (encrypted) .dmg file to the website.
Detailed instructions may be found in Disk Utility's Help files.
Launch DU (found in the Utilities folder in Applications), click the Help menu and choose Disk Utility help.
Go to the index, scroll to and click Security, then click a title similar to "Protecting confidential documents in a secure disk image." (a search on 'confidential' should also take you to a list containing that title.)
My version of DU is old enough that sparse images hadn't been introduced, or I'd post a copy of the article here.

  • Hi there, i have Q i have excel file it need to be block with password. Could you please explain how i make password protect to Excel document

    Hi there,
i have Q i have excel file it need to be block with password. Could you please explain how i make password protect to Excel document
    Thanks

On the File menu, click Save As.
On the Tools menu, click General Options.
Do either or both of the following:
If you want users to enter a password before they can view the workbook, type a password in the Password to open box, and then click OK.
If you want users to enter a password before they can save changes to the workbook, type a password in the Password to modify box.
NOTE   Unlike passwords you specify in the Password to open box, passwords you specify in the Password to modify box are not encrypted. These passwords are only meant to give specific users permission to modify workbook data. For optimal password security, it's best to assign both passwords. An encrypted password to access the workbook, and one to provide specific users with permission to modify its content. IMPORTANT   Use strong passwords that combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Use a strong password that you can remember so that you don't have to write it down.
If you want to use a different encryption type, click Advanced, click the type you want in the Choose an encryption type list, and then click OK.
If needed, specify the number of characters you want in the Choose a key length box.
NOTE   Document property encryption is enabled by default for most encryption types and providers. It prevents unauthorized users from viewing summary and custom file properties (such as the author or any custom file information) in theProperties dialog box. When users right-click the password-protected file, and then click Properties, information won't be available on the Summary tab and Customtab. Authorized users, however, can open the file and view all file properties (Filemenu, Properties command). To disable document property encryption, clear theEncrypt document properties check box.
    Click OK.
When prompted, retype your passwords to confirm them.
    Click Save.
If prompted, click Yes to replace the existing workbook.
NOTE   You can also secure a workbook with a password on the Security tab of the Options dialog box (Tools menu, Options command).

  • Password protecting digitally signed documents in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

I am looking for the combination of steps to get my digitally signed documents to be password protected for secure distribution. My documents contain new "user password" information and a number of "areas" which require digital signatures to be added.
Any input as to how one would construct a document with :
one to three --> digitally signed signatures fields in one document
Password "opening" protection for the document containing the fields; both signatures and sensitive data fields
suggestions on how to make the document open to accepting more signatures without it demanding the creation of a newly saved document after being digitally signed by one signature
I have worked at this a couple of different ways but am having problems finding the right combination/sequence of steps to make it all come together.
    Please assist.....
    Thanks....

    ......meaning.......
I can't do locking of the printing or editing of the sheet after i have encrypted and signed it.  Trying to do so, wipes out out signatures. Yes, it is a great fullproof to have people be unable to change something someone has signed but if there is an ammendment, can't the creator reserve that right and in an automated sense notify the signers of the rights of the author ?
Maybe I am looking for too much but, it would be great to know if that is the reality of the whole event.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Password Protect a Word Document

Is there any way you can password protect just a single file

in general, there is no way to password protect single files in OS X (there are some exceptions to that like pdf documents). you can change permissions on the file so only the current user has access to it. if that's not enough, you can save it inside an encrypted disk image as was already mentioned.

  • I can not seem to password protect a pages document

I created a document with pages.  I thought I had password protected it.  However document is not requiring password to open.
I used password protect from the file menu of the document.  I even changed the password but nothing sticks.  What am I doing wrong?

When you choose File > Set (or Change) Password… if you always want a password challenge, even on your own machine, then do not check Remember this password in my keychain from the drop-down Pages password sheet.
If you did, you may have to remove the password, and subsequently re-add it following the above guideline.

  • Unlock password protected, reader extended document

    Hi,
I'm trying to unlock/remove password on a password protected and reader extended document in a long lived process. Below is the workflow description
A batch process that fires periodically to send service feedback forms to customers.
Long lived process to Gather data ---> Render Dynamic pdf ---> Password Protect (to disable printing and extracting pages) ---> Reader Extend (for saving edited pdf on client machine) ---> Send Email to customer.
Long lived process to Receive feedback via Email endpoint --> Remove/Unlock (?) password ---> Extract data from PDF --->  further operations to update data in tables.
    My findings:
Remove PDF Password Encryption (Failed here)  ---> Extract data
Error: ALC-ENC-100-005 You cannot change security on this document because the document is signed or certified or reader extended.: ALC-ENC-100-005 You cannot change security on this document because the document is signed or certified or reader extended.
Remove Usage Rights ---> Remove PDF Password Encryption ---> Extract data   == SUCCESS
Unlock Password Encrypted PDF ---->  Extract Data (Failed here)
Error: com.adobe.internal.pdftoolkit.core.exceptions.PDFSecurityAuthorizationException: Security Manager for decryption is not set: com.adobe.livecycle.formdataintegration.client.ExportFormDataException: com.adobe.internal.pdftoolkit.core.exceptions.PDFSecurityAuthorizationException: Security Manager for decryption is not set
Remove Usage Rights ---> Unlock PDF Password ---> Extract data (Failed here)
Error: com.adobe.internal.pdftoolkit.core.exceptions.PDFSecurityAuthorizationException: Security Manager for decryption is not set: com.adobe.livecycle.formdataintegration.client.ExportFormDataException: com.adobe.internal.pdftoolkit.core.exceptions.PDFSecurityAuthorizationException: Security Manager for decryption is not set
I see that the "Unlock Passwod Encrypted PDF" service works fine in Short Lived Process. I'm unable to make it work in Long Lived process. Can someone please explain this behavior? Why is the limitation to Unlock PDF Password service to work only in short lived process?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Sandeep,
Is your intention to remove the password encryption or just extract data from it?
If you want to remove password encryption then you should first remove the usage rights and then remove pass encryption
If you want to just extract data from it - You can create a short lived subprocess that has unlock PDF password and extract data which should work fine (Ensure that unlock and extract are in a short lived process)
In case of long lived process when you unlock PDF password - the PDf gets unlocked and will be saved - and if you try to extract data it would fail because you need to unlock it again.

  • Password Protecting a Published Project

    Hello,
We are using RH7 WebHelp. My department works on RH projects
for a number of different departments within our company. One
department (HR) has asked if we can restrict access to their
materials from the rest of the company once we have published them.
Their material will obviously have its own URL, but they are
concerned that others may learn that address and gain access to
their materials. Is there a way to password protect their project
or otherwise restrict access to it? Thanks in advance.
    TW

    Hi TW
You need to speak to your web development team. WebHelp
output is like any other site. Just a collection of HTML pages. So
they should be able to configure the Web space so only authorized
    individuals could have access.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is it possible to put password protection on a document?

I need procedures for encrypting or password protecting pages documents.

    sam,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It's not possible to hide Pages documents from within Pages. But I searched on MacUpdate and came up with this http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/18439 app that hides folders, into which you can put any file you want to hide.
