Password Protect Apple TV?

We have a 9 year old that's discovered Youtube.com on our new Apple TV - Is there anyway to password protect an Apple TV? Either portions of it (primarily youtube.com obviously) or the entire thing?

You cannot set a password on the Apple TV; content synced to it from an iTunes library can be set to require a password by requiring a password to access the Mac OS X user account which contains that iTunes library.

  • To open a password protected ,Apple works created file in pages

When I tried to open a password protected .cwk file created using Apple works 6 in the Pages of iwork'08 I get a message that the ile cannot be imported as it is password protected and it doesnot give an open to enter the password. Unfortunately i donot have Appleworks 6 in my machine. However I am able to open all the other files of the same format which are not password protected.
Can any one help me out?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try icWord from Panergy Software. It has been known to open password protected files. You could then copy & paste into your Pages document or save as an AppleWorks 6 document again using a different name. You can download a fully-functional demo from the web site.

  • Password Protect Apple DEP Profiles

I am using the Profile Manager in OSX Server to OTA manage about 300 iPads. I have got 3 profiles pushed out but even when using the "never allow" option to protect our profiles, both the trust profiles and remote management profiles can be removed without a password being entered. Is there something I am missing? I was under the impression that Apple's new DEP solution would allow password protection of all profiles compared to 3rd party MDM that could not.

  • How can I protect my data in numbers from unintentional user of my iPad by other family members? In other words, how can I password protect my numbers and other apps from apple computer company?

I have other members of my family use my iPad for educational/recreational use, young children who may want to play kid games. I don't want them to accdently get into my data stored in the three business apps from apple. I would like to password protect these files.
I would also like to log out of the email systems that I use, so some one else can use this device to access their own emails. By leaving my accounts open al the time, is really asking for trouble from a host of sources.
I can't believe that the iPad is not designed to protect the privacy and data from prying eyes ... Un intuitional as it may be.
Please fix this issue so I create my info on this device and enjoy it fully. Or tell me how I can protect my data.
    Thnax.

Thanx for your response. Any data stored anywhere should be able to be protected from stealing, malicious destruction or unintentional destruction. Theo ad an be stolen and without any kind ofpassword protection, the thief could get into your sensitive data.
If Apple wants iPad to become a business tool that can be used with ideas, thots, data protected, then Apple needs to provide this protection to it's customers. Now it's unto the users to use it or not.
I know iPad is being considered to be used by doctors, and can u imagine the confidentiality requirements of HIPPA rules... It will make this device not usable without data protection. I am sureweall have heard about hacking going on at all levels. It's surprising that this device's software is left unprotected.
My iPad may be sitting on my desk and my 3 year old grand daughter would pick it up and start "playing" with it. That means I can't store anything on this machine that may possibly be changed.
I have discussed this with specialists in apple stores, and those who have been around info technology understand my concerns and they may forward this request further up. They do not have the answer for it..... So far.
I think data security should be everyone's concern... Be it a one person device or multiple user device.
I hope that some responsible people at Apple would read this and provide the protection that will make this device lot more acceptable in the business world.

Hi - you might want to post this question on the Apple TV area - you would probably get a quicker response - if you have a specific question relating to Apple routers then post back here

    Did you try Parental Controls?

See if that does the trick: I think there's a way for you to request a password for purchases, but still be logged in.

  • What are good suggestions regarding Password Protection programs for Apple?

I'm looking to implement a Password Protection file/system throughout my Apple world (iMac, iPhone, iPad) and was wondering what is the strongest/user friendly programs available for Apple stuff.
    GR

I've been very happy with 1Password, which has apps for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. You can share a single password file via Dropbox, making it easy to manage all your passwords as well as secure notes, credit card information, and other such private info. There are other similar utilities that others may recommend, but I've found no reason to switch.

  • Apple mail ignores password protection

Since upgrading to 10.9 my apple mail and outlook ignore the password protection and just opens the email. I recently installed Outlook and the same thing happens. ***!!!!!!
Also I now see why the upgrade was free. It installs all kinds of stuff I don't even want.

My apple mail has always asked for a password if launching. With 10.9 upgrade it doesn't work anymore. Also trying to get an attachment out of email now is a real pain. I've figured out its not the mail program itself that is screwed up, its Maverick. Hope for a patch soon.

  • Password protect and apple logo

    Hi everyone!
I just publishd my website and I have 2 questions:
1- How can I make some private area (password protect) on my website. Not th entire site, just a section?
2- How can take the apple logo off the browser address bar?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. iWeb and MobileMe will only password protect an entire site. You can put the page(s) you want to protect in a separate protected site and add a hyperlink to that site from your open site.
2 - That's called a favicon. These sites may be of some help:

  • Can Apple integrate password protected app groups in IOS?

I share my iPad with my children, and I have several apps on the iPad that I do not want my children tinkering with (i.e. Trulia, Faceboo, etc.).  I think that password protected app groups would be an elegant work-around for device sharing.

Other than the few built-in apps included in the Restrictions, Apple has not provided any way to password-restrict the use of apps. Whether they could do so or not is not something anyone here can address. You can comment to Apple on the matter via their feedback page if you wish:

  • Password Protection App apple/3rd Party

i just swiched over from a crackberry to an iphone. I was wondering if there is a password protection/wallet app. I had one on the crackberry and its been very helpful.
Are ther any add on apps?
    thanks
    brad

Third party applications cannot be installed onto the iPhone at the present time.
A number of web-based games and applications formatted specifically for use on the iPhone have sprung up, including some "password vault"-type applications. I have serious reservations about putting my passwords on a "secure" website that I know nothing about.
