Password protect email

Can some one please tell me why Apple has not sent out an update so we have the ability to password protect our email accounts all at once or choose which ones we want to protect. I know people have been asking this question for quite a while, Is this not a simple Update ? Or is there some other underlying issue ? Seems kinda strange that apple has not given this issue any consideration. Or have they ? Does anyone really know the correct answer to this question ? Thanks

1 - Activate a guest account for guests?
Maybe it is not the best idea to let other people use one's login to conduct their business?
In which case:
2 - create accounts for the named people so they can use your computer in a way that does not compromise your login and at the same time respects their login and privacy?
Try System Preferences > Accounts?

  • Is there or will there soon be the ability for iPad to password protect email app

Is there or will there soon be the ability for iPad to password protect email app?  When I share my iPad with my kids, I have to simply trust they don't use my email.  When will Apple program the standard email app to be password protected?  This is very important for all I would think.

Apple does not respond to posts here.
We are all users like you, so we have no way of knowing the answer.
Let Apple know you want this feature:

  • Acrobat 9 Password Protect/Email

I recently ordered/received Acrobat 9 Pro after being assured by an employee of Adobe that what I need could be done by the program, but I can't find it in the help guide for the program.  I am trying to export Access reports into PDF format then password protect them and email them.  I need each report to have an individual password and be emailed to a different person.  I want to set everything up once to be done automatically from now on.  We're looking to email out monthly and quarterly reports to hundreds of different people (currently we mail hardcopies).
Can anyone direct me as to how to do this?  Or, if I was misled, can anyone direct me to a program that can do this?

I know of no way to do what you want programmatically. However, I will suggest your workflow probably needs tweaking. Create the pdf files, but them on the web and require the person to sign in to get the pdf you want them to have. You can encrypt the download of the file from your server to the individual's computer. Password protection of pdf files are easily circumvented. Secure log-in and download encryption is the way to go. With email you cannot be sure the individual got the file you wanted them to get. Email is inherently insecure---unless you are encrypting your email. Using a server for this process will enable you to document that the individual received the file as well as the date and time it was received. Heck you can even get the ip and mac hardware address if you want, but those can be spoofed.

  • How do I open password protected email attachment?

Does anyone know how to open a password protected attachment in email.
My email will not download the attachment if it is password protected

I have the same problem.  When a password protected attachement is sent to my iPhone, there is no icon attached, only the code in the email.  However, it's normal when I view the email with my PC (Fire Fox or IE).  The same thing happens on the iPhone 3, 4 and iPad 3.  If a PDF file is not password protected, the PDF icon appears and all I have to do is click on it and it opens.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Apple Support is clueless on this one.

  • Can't password protect email program with Lion

Since upgrading to Lion I cannot seem to password protect my email. I have several accounts that show in the email app. Is there a way to have a single password that will open the email program on my iMac. Many thanks in advance.

Password-protecting your Mac Mail app would not prevent access to your mailboxes, your email is stored in files under your home folder.

  • Password Protect Email on iPod touch?

    Hi there,
Is there any way to password-protect your email account on an iPod touch? I know how to enable a password login for the entire device, but is there any way to have a password required to open just the email application?
Many thanks in advance for any help!

    Welcome to the Forums!
    No, there's not. Sorry
There's always the possibility that a 3d party developer will write something (i.e. an alternate email client). Also, the possibility that Apple will update that as part of the enterprise changes. But, to be honest, I don't see either as being very likely, since the ability to lock the whole thing is present already.
If your account allows webmail access, you could skip using Mail (delete the account), and just use Safari to access it, so you'd always have to enter the password.
    Hope this helps...

  • Password protected email

    Hi,
when I receive an email from work regarding my salary or other sensitive things, they are protected with a password.
I have the password and I can open the file on my laptop - but on my smartphone (LG Optimus G, LGE-975) it doesn´t work.
I use Gmail and have Adobe on my phone..
Any ideas how to fix this..?

    Hi,
When you open the PDF file (your salary slip or any other protected file) via Gmail on your device, do you choose "Adobe Reader" for opening the file?
What happens if you first download the file and then try to open it in "Adobe Reader"?
    Thanks.

  • Is there a way to password protect just email?

I'd like to be able to set my mail to a password, so that if/when someone else is using my phone they can't read my email. I want the easy access of it on my main screen, but I want to be asked to enter a password before reading it. I don't want to lock the entire phone b/c I think it's a pain to have to enter a password everytime I pick up the phone.
Is there a way to just password protect email?

No, there is not. It's the whole Phone or nothing, with the exception of 3rd party apps that can store information or pics, etc., with password access.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Can I password protect my email accounts on my iPhone?

I would like to know if there is a way to password protect my email accounts so if someone is using my phone for games etc they cant look at my emails?

The ability to password protect email accounts in the Mail app isn't currently possible (apart from going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and removing/adding the password) as the iPad is essentially a single user device. Using a browser is an alternative (and if your family have accounts with different providers you add bookmark shortcuts to your home screen), and you could also try providing feedback to Apple http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Can emails be  password protected?

Is it possible to password protect emails within Mail so that a password is required to open all mail?

I believe that the freeware Thunderbird mail application http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ has this feature. You could try it. You can import all your messages from Apple Mail app.

  • Password protecting mail app and permanent deletion of emails so they don't appear in spotlight search

I realise that there is a temporary way to prevent this happening by unticking the 'mail' option in the spotlight search settings menu, but how do you permanently delete the emails? I assumed that when I hit delete then emptied the trash box, the mails were gone for good. But finding that they remain stored in some hidden place and can be easily accessed is very annoying! In fact, finding that other users can quickly change the settings back and have free access to my email is rather disturbing anyway, especially as there is no way to password protect my email account once i activate the mail app. the apple mail app is linked to my yahoo account, but within yahoo mail there seems to be no problem in regards to deleted mail being stored somewhere else, only within the apple app system.
So i guess id like to know, is there some way to password protect my account or do I just need to keep deleting my account before lending the ipad to someone else and then reinstating it? And is there any way to properly delete emails for good?
I would be happy just to go without the mail app and log in directly through yahoo in Safari, except that I find the notification alert when I receive a new mail very handy!!

[edit] I dragged the email I sent through the MBP Mail app (under MAILBOXES > Sent > Yahoo!) to the highlighted Sent folder (YAHOO! > Sent), and now it shows up on all Yahoo Sent folders (iPad app, web browser, phone app). Not entirely solved the issue but will use web browser to sent future emails to keep everything in sync.
