Password protect individual movies to prevent viewing?

Hello.
I am wondering if there is a way to password protect individual files on the iphone either before or after they sync from iTunes to the phone itself. The reason I ask is that my daughter occasionally watches films on my iPhone and I would like to have her be able to access the Disney movies, but not something that was R-rated. Can this be done? If so, how?
I know you can put a security code on the entire phone, but wasn't sure if you could do it with certain files. Basically, I want to implement some sort of parental controls.
Thanks for the advice.

No. It cannot be done.

Sorry. The iPhone does not offer parental controls.

  • Is there a way to password protect a movie?

We have imovie in our school. We were looking to password protect our movies so other students could'nt tamper with them. Is this possible? If so how?

Have the students create a Sparse Disk Image, This also prevents fragmentation of the project across your disk. Set the target size at about what your intended goals are. Here I show Custom 20 GB.
Disk Utility>New Image>set the dialouge boxes as shown.

Sorry the format should have been Sparce Disk Image and not read/write disk image on the botton drop down list. A read/write will always remain the size you select in custom.
After the steps shown you will be required to type in a password and verify it. Before each use they would have to mount the disk image with thier password and when the movies is complete it will only take up the actual space used.
With MPEG-4 you can also protect your completed movies in various ways to be able to share it over the internet, DVD and prevent the content from being saved, copied or even viewed elsewhere as well. Some tools are available and it is my understanding that you can "create" your own. Contact Apple directly and they may be able to direct you to some educational resources for MPEG-4 IPMP-X or DRM software.

  • Password protect individual page?

Does iWeb '08 allow you password protect and individual page, rather than the whole site, as is the case in iWeb '06. This would be a nice addition.
    Thanks!

Protecting a site with a password
If you publish your site to .Mac, you can require visitors to type a name and password to view your site. You can’t password protect individual pages.
Passwords are case-sensitive and must use 6—20 characters. They can include any combination of letters, numbers, and symbols, but can’t include spaces.
To create a password for a website:
In the sidebar (on the left side of the iWeb window), select the site or one of its pages.
If the Site Inspector isn’t open, click Inspector in the toolbar (or choose View > Show Inspector), and then click the Site Inspector button.
In the Site Inspector, click Password.
Select “Make my published site private.”
Type a user name and password in the fields.
All visitors will use the same user name and password.
IMPORTANT: Don’t use your .Mac user name or password.
When you publish your website and click Announce, iWeb creates an email message—including the user name and password—that you can send to friends and family to let them know about your website.
To remove password protection from a site, deselect “Make my published site private” and republish.

  • Password Protection of Movie Clips

We are making instructional movies for students and would like to put all the movies on one dvd. However, we do not want the student to be able to proceed to higher level instruction until they have satisfied the requirements of the current level. Is there a way to password protect each movie on the dvd so that the instructor can give the student the password when they have satisfied to the requirements to proceed to the next level?

I'd think you really need to contact Seagate Tech support for an answer. Briefly looking at their web site (which is horribly outdated - for those drives they only mention G4 and G5 Apple machines), it looks like the security feature does indeed require a BIOS, and is not available with an EFI firmware machine.

    Hi
I use a MacBook Pro 17" with MacOSX(10.4.7) Could someone please tell me how can I password protect individual folders?
    Thanks

    Adnan,
One way to do this is to use Disk Utility to make a password protected disk image of the folder(s) that you need to secure. This is probably the easiest way to do it.
Go to Disk Utility and choose "New Image" and select encryption.

  • How to password protect individual folders?

I am trying to protect some files for work on my mac using a password, but haven't been able to find a support page on how to do so. I can change permissions, but I do not want to make myself enter a password every time I logon to the computer. I would like to just password protect a specific folder (or files if I cannot protect a folder).
I am a new mac user...will appreciate any advice!
    Thanks

Is the only solution to this to not save
the password to my keychain and just remember it?
There are some other options you might consider for using keychains...
    1. You can set your "login" keychain to automatically lock itself after a certain number of minutes. Launch "Keychain Access" in your Utilities folder. Select "login" in the keychain list then select "Edit -> Change settings for Keychain 'login'...". After the specified number of minutes the keychain will lock and anyone who accesses something on your system (that tries to get a password from the keychain) will have to enter your account password to unlock it.
    2. You can give your "login" keychain a password that is different from your account password. As above, launch Keychain Access, select the login keychain and go to "Edit -> Change Password for Keychain 'login'...". Once you've done this your login keychain will not automatically unlock when you first login to your account. You will have to enter the new keychain password before any apps can read or write data to it. You can use this in combination with #1 above to have the keychain automatically re-lock itself after a certain number of minutes if you want. Note that once you've done this it has the side-effect that if you ever change your account password it will not change the login keychain's password... the login keychain will retain it's own separate password.
    3. You can create one or more additional keychains that have their own passwords. This is what I do for storing various pieces of secure information - I have one for personal stuff and another for work related stuff. Similar to #2 above these additional keychains will not be automatically unlocked when you login to your account. In Keychain Access choose "File -> New Keychain...". Give the new keychain a password that's different from your account password. In this case other applications that are "keychain aware" (such as the disk image mounter) will not use the additional keychain(s) by default. But you can manually unlock these keychains and then view the secure info you've stored there. So instead of just storing password "hints" like S.U. suggested you can store the actual passwords inside these keychains without worrying about someone else getting to the information unless they know that password to unlock that particular keychain. Also note that if an application does store a password item in your "login" keychain you can easily move it to one of these additional keychains by simply dragging and dropping the item from the "login" keychain to your other keychain within Keychain Access.
Keychains can be very versatile but there's not too much documentation or tips available for using them.

  • Password protect Photos & Movies

Can anyone tell me of away to password protect certain folders in photos and movies. I would like to keep certain photo's and movies private. I have searched the App store and there appear to be several Apps that protect files, but none that protect photo's and/or movie files. Thanks for your input.

There is no way to do this. You can apply a passcode lock to the iPhone, but there's no way to restrict access to individual pics/movies (the only exception is songs/movies +purchased in iTunes+ with an Explicit tag, which can be blocked using Restrictions on the iPhone).

  • Password-protected PDFs making mail blank view of messages?

Surreal problem that seems to have started about the same time as my 10.8.4 update (from 10.8.3):
Viewing the standard Mail view, with mailboxes on the left, message list for the selected mailbox in the middle, and message text in the largest pane on the right of the window; when moving through the list of messages, moving down and seeing the message texts to the right, all of a sudden, the preview pane to the right go BLANK.  And I've narrowed it down to several suspect messages that came from a regular group of business contacts who send me reports as password-protected PDFs.  I prepared a test PDF with Preview, encrypted, and used that to test the proposition that password-protected PDFs are what is 'breaking' the view of message contents in the right hand window, and it is clearly the problem.
After I view a message with the gray password-protected preview image showing in the preview pane, switching to another message in the message list, that next message shows a normal header but the text/body of the message shows blank.  And then the next messages keep showing blank until I either:  hide and unhide the main mail window OR quit and reopen mail.  But double-clicking on any message in the list to open it properly in its own window shows it normally.
Rebuilding my mailboxes did not help.  Rebooting did not help.
Any ideas about what the heck might be going on?

I've had the same problem on 3 computers since updating them to 10.8.4
I don't think many will find this thread as most will search for threads relating to 10.8.4
It only happens to my mail after viewing a message that contains a password protected pdf.  If I don't open emails that contain the pdfs mail works perfectly, but once I've clicked on a message that contains a pdf every email turns blank.  Mac mail & POP accounts.  I can double-click the email to have it viewable in a new window but still can't open the pdfs. I get password protected pdfs regularly for work.
    They're standard drives, no partitioning.
I've tried the "sandbox" suggestion with no joy.  & I've also tried removing junk filtering which is a suggestion on another thread.
    I don't think I'm up to re-installing 10.8.3 so I've been using a browser for emails.

  • Password protect iTunes application to prevent changes?

    Hi all,
I am looking to increase my ITUNES security on my home PC to prevent changes in ITUNES match or my music being removed from icloud by mistake by others when they use this PC or it is stolen etc.
I.E when i open the itunes application, it will prompts/ask me for a password before proceeding further.
I have home sharing enabled and i dont want to interfer or restrict this, however sometimes on my laptop other access itunes and on occassions have caused music in the cloud to be deleted! Doesnt help when i have disposed of the original cd's and its not avaiable via the itunes store.
Any ideas/comments would be grealty appreciated to help me protect?
I did go to edit/prefercnes and ticked the "require password" button in home sharing, but affects home sharing only, does not prompt me for password on my PC.
    Cheers Folks
    Simon.

You can backup your library right now. You can send the password protection idea to iTunes Feedback, but I doubt it would ever be implemented.
Don't dispose of your original CDs. If you sell or give them away then you should also delete the tracks that you ripped from them.

  • Password protect individual pages, web gallery?

    Hello;
When hosted by .mac Is it possible to password protect a single page (or photo gallery)?
Also, can we allow people to post on the Blog via password?
    TIA
    -T

    Hi T Powers,
unfortunately it is not possible to password protect only one page of a site.
Thus what you would have to do is make a new site (File=>New Site) only for the one page you want to password protect and link from the other site or give the url of that site to the people you want to see it.
Blogs can be modified only through the iWeb application. Visitors can only add comments to it to add a password you would have to make a site for it.
You may have a look at embedding a Wordpress Blog to your website
    http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/iWeb_Blogging.html
It allows you to add users who can contribute to it and post to it (not only comments but also entries).

  • Is there anyway to password protect individual apps?

I want to password proptect individual apps so when children use the ipad..phone..etc.. they cannot open thm. I have control apps for the house I do not want changed. i do not want thenm on the internet, mail, photos, etc. Is there such a way?
    Thanks

There are limited restrictions that you can activate in Settings/General/Restrictions, but only with a few Apple apps, not with 3rd party apps.
For a 3rd party app, the restriction would need to be built into the app by the developer.

  • Password Protect Individual Folders?

    Hi folks!
I was just wondering, is there any way to password-lock a single folder in the Finder? Just a very basic "double-click, type the password, and get in" kind of thing. I can't find anything like that just poking around in help, so I was hoping someone here would know for sure if the feature does or doesn't exist.
    Thanks for the help!

There are ways of doing it with third party applications. I haven't tried any of them so I can't verify or recommend any. Try this search on Macupdate and look for descriptions with "folder" in them. There's a plethora of them
    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to password protect Movies in the new Web Gallery?

I have loaded several iPhoto albums onto my new Web Gallery - and I can password protect each using a different name and password for various friends and family. This is great as they each then have their own privacy. Some I have left open to view by everyone. BUT, I would like to password protect some movies from iMOvie '08. Can this be done for the movies as per the photo albums - and how? If yes - can it also be done for movies already published or will they have to be re-published?
    thanks
    Alan

The best I can figure out is that if you post your movie, but do not select the option to "Show project on Web Gallery home page," the video will not show on your home page for random visitors, but you can send the direct link to your video to whomever you want by copying it from the confirmation page after the video uploads. Not perfect, but the only option I see right now.

  • Password Protect Folder with Pics in Photoshop CS4

I want to password protect a folder  I have JPEGS in so any one else who may access my computer cannot get into that folder and view what is inside. How do I do it?

When I go to my file tab, brows in bridge, it says the  Adobe Bridge service is no longer available.
And you cannot password protect individual files as states from the other answers below. it said you cant do it in Windows
Can I protect files or folders with a password?
No, you can't use a password to protect files and folders in Windows.  However, some programs that run on Windows do  allow you to protect individual files by using a password. For more information,  check the Help for the program you are using.
There are other ways to protect your files and folders in Windows. You can encrypt your files, manually specify who can access the folders or files, or hide them.  Choose your method based on how secure the folders or files need to be.  Encrypting is the most secure, while hiding the folders is the least secure.
    Note
The ability to encrypt files and folders is not available in Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, and Windows Vista Home Premium.
