Password protect thumb drive with exfat format.

I'm trying to password protect a thumb drive but keep getting "A GUID Partition Table (GPT) partitioning scheme is required". I want to format it to exfat but it won't let me do that and password protect my thumb drive.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @vikrantislav ,
I read about the issue you are having with saving your scans to a USB drive formatted as ExFat. I have done a few searches for this and I'd suggest checking this post from my colleague @Gemini02 . Click here to see it, I hope it helps!

    Hi,
If password protected PDF documents, you can not print on ANY printer unless you can ccrraacckk it.

  • I can no longer access a password protected Numbers file with the correct password. Error message only says the file "cannot be opened."

    I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

  • Can I use a USB thumb drive with iPad

Can I use a USB thumb drive with iPad2

What do you want to do with the thumb drive?
If for picture/movie files, You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

A USB thumb drive with data created in Windows is not showing up on my desktop. Do I need a different driver or something?

OK in order to read those files you will need MS Office for Mac or install MS Windows on your Mac. You can get MS Office for Mac from anyone that sells Apple products. I would suggest the Apple Store, Best Buy, Amazon etc...For help getting the data from the memory stick I'd recommend visiting your local Apple Store or AASP and they can help you move it. It should be as simple as plugging the USB drive into your USB port and then open a Finder Window where you will see the drive on the left  pane. If you don't know what Finder is or how to open a new Finder window you need the sites I've noted below!!!
Because you are new to OS X I would strongly recommend you bookmark and frequently visit the following web sites:

  • Totally clueless here: password protecting external drive for TM?

    Hi guys,
sorry I'm really ignorant on the point and I hope you will help me.
I have an ibookg4 with 10.5.1...I'm the only user of my mac but I have the mac asking for username and password everytime it runs so to protect my data from other people.
Now, I bought a very simple Lacie hard drive for backingup with TM. The question is: can now some people take the Lacie hard drive, log it into their macs (or pc too?) and simply surf through all my data? Because in that way my password protection on my ibook would be totally useless...
I don't wanna have people having access to the data on my mac. The data on my backup are safe? If not, how can I protect them.
    Sorry for my ignorance

Currently there is no password protection or encryption supported for Time Machine (TM). So the simple solution is to disconnect the drive and use physical protection such as putting it in a locked box. However, you can use File Vault in OS X to encrypt your home directory, and those files are backed up by TM in the protected format.
    See
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2007111404402514
    for some more related information.
Before using it, you might want to learn details about file vault by using help on the Finder and also by doing a websearch. Do remember those password(s) when you use it, and when the next major release (e.g., 10.6) happens, you may want to consider an unencrypted bootable back up (back up with Carbon Copy Cloner or similar after turning off file vault) to move the data to the new system.

  • Using a usb thumb drive with a mac

So, I'm a recent windows user and when using a USB thumb drive, if you erased something, it would automatically update the thumb drive and show the right amount of free space.
I've noticed with the mac, if you delete an item, it doesn't update, and you need to go into disk utility and format in order to show the appropriate amount of free space.
Is there an easier way to do this?
I searched for a few minutes on this topic, but couldn't seem to find anything. All apologies if I missed it.

Choose Empty Trash from the Finder menu, or from the menu which appears when you control-click or click and hold on the Trash icon in the Dock.

  • Using USB thumb drive with Parallels and Microsoft Windows XP

I installed Parallels 3.0 because I need to use a few windows applications for work. I am currently unable to find the USB thumb drive when I plug it into the USB port. You're right, it should show up under My Computer. You may want to post your question over on the Parallels forums: http://forums.parallels.com as they're more geared toward the issue since Parallels is not an Apple product.

  • How can I create a Lion USB Thumb Drive with the 11E2068 build?

It seems that the Lion build from the Mac App Store is not compatible with my Macbook Pro Retina 15''. It's seems I would need the the build 11E2068 for my USB thumb drive to work properly.
I don't want to go through the internet recovery and loose 8 hours.
Is there anyway for my to get that build(11E2068) on my USB thumb drive?
    Thanks,

keg55's given you article that allows you to capture the installer. These are the critical portions:
Once that data has been downloaded, Lion Recovery restarts your Mac, immediately installs the OS, and then deletes the installer data. The trick is to interrupt that process—safely—so you can grab the installer data and keep it. Here are the steps to take:
IMO, Apple needs to rethink this process. Unless users with machines that had Lion preinstalled, like yourself, let Apple know this process is terrible, they'll not change their minds.
    7.  IMPORTANT: Monitor the download’s progress. As the progress bar gets near the end, get ready, because once the status reads About 0 seconds remaining, the progress bar will disappear, the installer will spend a minute or two cleaning up, and then your Mac will restart. As soon as the screen goes dark, unplug your external drive. If you wait too long, your Mac will boot into the Mac OS X installer on that drive, starting the installation process. Interrupting that process can leave your Mac unable to install OS X unless you restart it and—I’m not joking—zap PRAM.

I cannot open password protected PDF document having attachments on my OS X (v 10.8.4) with Adobe Reader X nor XI. The reader crashes. The same document using the same password opens fine on the laptop and Windows systems wheni it is fetched from a secure mail server. Why?

  • Possible? Password protecting external drives

Is it possible to make all external drives password protected to make changes to, or even access? I can't find anything obvious particularly in "disc utility" or elsewhere.
    Thanks, Chris

No, OS X provides no such facility. You can get third-party software that can do that. Look for it at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
What you can do instead is to create an encrypted disc image using Disk Utility and put the image on the external drive. Then move whatever you want secured onto the disc image file. Delete the originals. When the disc image is mounted it will require a password to access whatever is stored on it. If you want to be able read and write data on the disc image then make it a read/write image file when you create it.

  • Password Protected Wireless Network with Unknown Password

I have a Linksys WRTP54G wireless router for internet access with my laptop pc. It was installed by a local computer tech (who is no longer accessible) several years ago with my Gateway desktop computer which has Windows 98 for an operating system. I just purchased a Lenovo laptop which runs Windows Vista Home Premium. When I "power up" the Lenovo, I receive a message "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page". I then use Windows Network Diagnostics, and View Available Wireless Networks. Two networks are presented. The first is linksys - unsecured network. The second is the last name of the computer tech - security enabled network. I want to use the Security Enabled Network but when I choose it I am prompted for a password that I do not have. Can anyone tell me how to overcome this obstacle and either eliminate the need for a password or reset it with one that I create? I don't have great technical skills but follow instructions well.

You can just change the wireless settings by accessing the router's set-up page.. Try to check what is the the ip of your router by going to the desktop w/c is wired to the router and online.
    -Go to RUN
    -Typed in -winipcfg-
-Get the default gateway (it starts w/ 192.168.15.1)
-Open up IE or Firefox, typed in 192.168.15.1 on the address bar
-If it ask for the UN and PW, just typed -admin- (lower case) on the UN and PW
-If you see the Linksys set-up page that has blue and black color your on the right page BUT after you typed in -admin- and it still ask for the UN and PW and the last tech didnt leave you a UN and PW for the router then you need to reset the router and reconfigure everything...
-BUT if your on the Linksys set-up page, click on WIRELESS tab
-Look below and look for the WIRELESS NETWORK NAME SSID
-If you want to change it then go ahead and after changing it just click CONTINUE or you will go back to the same page
-If you want to check the wireless password or unsecure it:
-Click on WIRELESS SECURITY under the wireless tab
-You can get there your wireless password
-If you want to disable the wireless security then just
-Click on the drop down arrow on the SECURITY MODE and click on DISABLE
    Hope this helps....... n_n

  • My iPad will accept downloaded images from my camera, but will not allow me to move the images to a thumb drive, with the message that those devices require too much power for the iPad.

Using an older, second-issue iPad, I can download images into it from my camera. I cannot move them out of the iPad into a thumb drive. The message I receive is that the thumb drives require too much energy to make the transfer. What can I do?

Thats how its designed. in order to export your images or videos, the best method might be by connecting the iPad to your computer, or directly to the thumb drive connected to your computer, not to the iPad. Then is as simple as drag and drop. The other method could be sending them by email or uploading via a cloud service but that will take more time do get it done.
    Hope this helps.
