Password protected archives (RAR)

Hi,
Does anybody know why FEP would not strip/quarantine password protected
RAR archives according to "Delete encrypted compressed files" setting? Password protected ZIP files, however got stripped/qarantined as expected.
Regards,
Sergei

By off chance is it a part of a multipart rar file?Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. • Attachments appearing as password-protected when they're not

    Several times recently, I've had clients (on windows) tell me that attachments I've sent them in Mail -- whether they're zipped archives or single files -- indicate that a password is required before the file can be accessed. I've set no password protections, though, and this never happened before the past week. Anybody else having the same problem? Is this an issue with a recent upgrade?

    Here's your problem. Select the objects and click on the Expand button in the Pathfinder panel
    After this just click on the straight lines to delete.

  • Password protecting a file?

    Can anyone tell me if there is a way of password protecting a file on my machine. I need it to be only opened by me even if someone else is using my user account.
    I would really appreciate some help with this
    Thanks!

    You can zip it with a password (encrypt it). Unfortunately that option, even though it comes as
    standard equipment, is available only from the command line (terminal.app).

    You may create an encrypted sparse image on your desktop and store your files
    in it. It's portable too,
    just copy the encrypted image to a flash drive and take it with you.

    There is "Meo" (a free file encryption utility):

    There is openssl (comes with OS X), a command line tool (terminal):

    True Crypt (one of the most powerful solutions out there - and its free):

  • Password Protected ZIP files from Windows

    Hello everyone, I had created ZIP files in my windows PC way back and I have password protected them. Now I copied them to my MAC, and when I try to unzip, it does not ask for a password and gives me an error message.
    I know I can go back to my PC and unzip those files with the password, then zip them and copy them to my MAC, but I don't want to run my PC unless I really have to and I am curious to see if there is a way to have Archive utility to ask for the password.

    Not folder but file (I do hope you understand the difference). Have you tried to search SDN at all? I don't have much time, but before replying initially I did just a quick search and it brought several posts mentioning the archiving functionality. And I'm sure 'Smartform to PDF' will bring up gozillion posts. Also I find the Google search with addition 'site:sap.com' to be quite helpful.
    However, I would still recommend to review the requirements. Why exactly do you need this password protection? If there is a fear that someone other than a recipient might get access to the email account then there is really a bigger security issue in the organization and it should be resolved by some other means. As I have mentioned, password does not really add much protection.
    Out of curiosity I briefly looked at the IRM description on the Microsoft's web site and it doesn't seem to be very helpful. First of all, it's the MS software and has to be installed on the user's PC and configured (how do we know the emai recipients are even on Windows?). Also it does say "Prevent an unauthorized recipient from accessing e-mail content", but I didn't quite get how exactly. Is there a retinal scan that comes with it? And the list of things it does not do gives you the whole another perspective on the email security.

  • How to avoid password prompt in shell script for zip password protection

    Hi
    I am trying to set password protection to my oracle database export backup. Once the backup completed, it should compress with a password protection. Thats the plan. Initialy we were using the gzip for the compression. Then realized that there is no password protection for the gzip. Started using zip option. I tried using
    zip -P <password> filename
    But it was throwing below error.
    -bash-3.2$ zip -P expreports REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp
    zip warning: missing end signature--probably not a zip file (did you
    zip warning: remember to use binary mode when you transferred it?)
    zip warning: (if you are trying to read a damaged archive try -F)
    zip error: Zip file structure invalid (REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp)
    Not quite sure why.
    Then I used zip -e REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp.zip REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp
    But this prompting for the password. As I am trying to put the command in the script. It will be tough if it prompts for the password.
    I would like to know how to avoid the password prompting by saving somewhere or how the code should be written. Tried using expect feature of shell script. Below was the code I tried. It didnt work.
    [oracle@SF40V6636 test]$ cat repexp.sh
    zip -e REPORTS_imp.log.zip REPORTS_imp.log
    expect "Enter password:"
    send "imprep"
    expect "Verify password:"
    send "imprep"
    So please help in avoiding this password prompt or let me know how to change the code.
    Thanks

    How about using gpg and adding a secret key to the requirement of a password? No one should be able to decrypt your file, not by knowing only the password.
    1. Generate a public and private key pair:
    $ gpg --gen-key
    When it shows "We need to generate a lot of random bytes…" open another terminal session and type "dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null" to create traffic. When the public and secret key created and signed you can Ctrl-C the dd command.
    To see what you have created:
    $ gpg --list-keys
    2. Encrypt and gzip your stuff:
    $ tar zcf stuff.tgz file_or_folder
    $ gpg recipient "Some Name" encrypt stuff.tgz
    $ rm -f stuff.tgz
    3. Decrypt and extract the archive:
    $ gpg batch yes --passphrase "password" -d stuff.tgz.gpg > stuff.tgz
    $ tar zxvf stuff.tgz
    Again, knowing the password alone will not let anybody decrypt your stuff.

  • Can I password protect a zip file?

    Is it possible to encrypt or place a password on a zip file created in the Finder?

    not from finder. you can do it from terminal if you wish or use some 3rd part archiving tool like Stuffit . I think it can make password protected zip files. but zip passwords can be cracked. a better option is to use an encrypted disk image instead of a zip file. you can make one with disk utility.

  • HT4641 Does pages have a document password protection function

    Does pages have a password protection function since adobe PDF for IPhone3gs or IPad2 does not?

    If you were to think laterally about this, you could also create encrypted archives for just those folders or files you were interested in to minimise the possible harm. Similar to the disk images Magnus suggested, but slightly less trouble. Modern Macs are very fast at unarchiving these files so you can work on them then archive them again without too much trouble.
    I am a great fan of those tiny USB harddrives and thumbdrives, which easily slip into your pocket so you can take them with you.
    My backup consists of a set of three 4Gb USB thumbdrives for my documents and 3 differently colored USB harddrives for my larger material.
    If your work is on these, you simply detach them from your computer and keep them locked up or on your person.
    Nobody will be able to access those without bailing you up.
    … And of course you can use a combination of any and all of the above suggestions.

    For you developers out there - an option for you is to download my

    Search for this line of code: xmlReq.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
    I wrote this web part as an alternative to the RSS Viewer Web Part because not everbody has MOSS. Plus, it is open source so you can customize the look and feel, and it's behavior.

    For Macs you need to configure NetStorage to set Cookieless mode to 1 -
    in iManager this is under File Access (NetStorage) > NetStorage Options.
    Be aware that setting that may (un)set some of the other values so you
    may need to (re)set those too.
    To get contextless logins working you should already have the server's
    context listed under the IP address of the server at File Access
    (NetStorage) > Authentication Domains. If so, you should be able to
    then add each additional context via Add Context. Unfortunately there's
    no way to add a bunch in bulk.
    As for Windows 7, you need to map a network drive as per Microsoft KB
    article 2560598 @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2560598

    Hello all, does anyone know of a way to password protect a .ibooks file so that it prompts for a password on the iPad. The tick box shown at the bottom of the inspector window only seems to protect the opening of the .iba file.

    You can make it a passworded zip/archive, then send it out and require your users to unzip on their computer first - otherwise...no way, sorry.
