Look at OLE class/methods and demo programs using OLE technology. Look at transaction ABAPDOCU and the Reuse Library (SE84, as far as I remember). It should be fairly simple.
Don't forget to reward points.

  • Why can't I save my password protected file in a password protected folder?

I've just encrypted my folder which contains password protected files. I've attempted to save a new password protected file (Word document) but have had to save it to my desktop because when I try to save the file to the folder I receive a message: "Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full [which it is not] or write-protected [which it is]". Sooooooo. Does this mean I can only password protect the folder and not the files? Which is really annoying because I really do need the two levels of security. Please can someone help?

File Vault is not in Disk Utility.  It is in System Preferences/Security/FileVault.

  • Can not  open  a  password protected file from OSX2.8 in OSX4.x

I have a few files that I password protected in OSX2.8 that will not open now in OSX 4.6. The are not part of the vault type protection. It seems that the feature of individually password protecting files in the earlier OSX system do not open, nor give the option to even give the password. In the get info window there is no option to change or type in the password. The password is not related to the administrator password and it seems that it was a feature that did not follow through to the later OSX version. The only alternative I can think of is to install OSX 2 on an external and hope it gives me the option.
Does anyone know how to deal with this type of individually protected file in OSX 4.6? I have tried the vault, and the get info, but nothing seems to work to even give me the option to enter a password for an individual file. They are jpeg, and QuickTime, and Photoshop .psd files.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Then it's probably not 100%-compatible with the PDF security standard. You
should post this question on an iText forum.

  • How do I save a password protected file without a password?

Someone sent me a password protected file and I want to save it on my computer without the password.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
It is not possible to save a password protected file without a password with Adobe Reader, you would require Adobe Acrobat to remove the password protection. Even with Adobe Acrobat you can only remove the security if you are aware about the password otherwise you need to contact the Author/creator of the PDF to remove the security.

  • How to open password protected files in Numbers for iPad?

In my company, there are formats created in Excel 2010 which have password-protetected cells. Neither Numbers, nor Doccuemts to Go can't open them.
The workaround is having someone open the file in my office and re-save it in an older version, but it messes up with the formatting and it's simply not a practical solution.
Documents to Go still doesn't support Office 2010 password protected files. Numbers niether, so does anyone know of any app that can solve my problem?

Go to the App Store on your iPad and download Adobe Acrobat DC (formerly called Reader).
Open it and click on Help. Then click on Handbook. Read the section on "Open PDFs in Acrobat DC"

  • Is it possible to set an opening date for a password protected file

Is it possible to set an opening date for a password protected file!
I want to lock a folder and then have it open on a perticular date not just open with a password so that i am not tempted to open it. Is it possible?

Yes. Go to the Settings app, and select safari. There will be a section called "Autofill", and you can enable it to save your passwords and auto-fill your personal information taken from the address book. Also, iOS automatically saves all Wi-Fi passwords, so there is no need to save it manually yourself.

It seems that everyone asking this question have links from Grand Canyon University which will soon have over a 100,000 online students that all use ebooks that open just fine in Adobe Acrobat on their PCs BUT NOT on the mobile versions of Adobe Acrobat. Whatever allows this on PCs needs to be added to the mobile version soon.  We rely on our etextbooks that can ONLY be opened on the PC version of Acrobat.  That is ridiculous.  I can't believe with all the posts regarding password protected ebooks on this forum....that it hasn't been resolved.  No one can give you a link because the ebooks are on a website that needs a password.  We can save the books to our harddrives/dropbox...  I could send you a copy, but thats it.  Surely someone at Adobe knows what the hell is going on and can test the problem out themselves?

  • Password protected file issue

I downloaded a password protected file that requires Acrobat reader 10. iOS version cannot seem to open. Any suggestions? I'd like to be able to use the text highlight and note features in the iOS version.

  • Password protect files before sending to backup

I use dropbox for online backup. They lack the ability to password protect files before sending them to dropbox. Is there a way to do this, given how dropbox works?
Or, is there a backup service similar to dropbox (windows and mac in one account) that does provide password protection before sending?
One option is to compress and encrypt the files then drop that zip into a dropbox folder. I'd loose the auto backup monitoring since I would have to get involved with each backup but that's ok if nothing else is available. Any suggestions on something free that can compress and password protect the compressed file? Or if nothing free, what else is good?

How do I know the DMG is going over to dropbox encrypted?
    Control-Click on the .dmg
    Select Show Package Contents.
You should now see the individual 8MB chunks that make up the Encrypted Sparse Bundle.
Open any of them (maybe using TextEdit, or TexWrangler, or Smultron). If you can figure out what is says, then encryption is not working. However, what you should see is gobbledy gook (encrypted data).
Also, the DMG initially set its size to 100MB. Can that grow dynamically?
I am not sure, but I think it will not. However, because you are using a Sparse Bundle, it will only consume the space it needs to hold the files you put into the mounted .dmg, so you can size it for a very large size. Maybe the size limit Dropbox imposes on you.

    t2go,
Below is the list of steps from the Adobe KB article for installing the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in 6.2 on PSE 8:
Link to the KB article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/863/cpsid_86312.html#main_Install Camera Raw 6.1 for Photoshop Elements 8 on Mac OS
#Install Camera Raw 6.2 plug-in for Photoshop Elements 8 on Mac OS
Close Photoshop Elements 8 and Bridge CS5.
Download Camera Raw_6_2.dmg from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4809. Opening the downloaded file mounts the disc image containing the following two files:  Camera Raw.plug-in and cameraprofiles.mpkg.
Put the new version of the Camera Raw.8bi file that was downloaded into the same location as the original version.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not your home folder).
Navigate to the following location: Applications/PSE8/Plug-Ins/File Formats.
Move the original plug-in from the location listed in step 5 to a backup location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure that you keep this version in case you want to revert.
Copy the downloaded copy of the Camera Raw plug-in into the installation location listed under step 6.
Launch Photoshop Elements 8 or Adobe Bridge CS5.
To install Camera Profiles, double-click CameraProfiles.mpkg and then follow the on-screen instructions
Are you following the steps as mentioned above?

  • Xserve, Windows 7 and password protected files

I have a Late 2006 Xserve running Sever OS 10.4.11 and I'm having a heck of a time connecting to any password protected files. For example, I can go "Map Network Drive", add the "Users" (\\xserve\Users\) folder and then access any unprotected folders within that directory (lets call them Bob and Tom), but not any of the password protected files (lets call that user Mike)
If I click on the Bob or Tom folders (under "Users") it lets me in, no problem.
If I click on the Mike folder (also mapped under "Users"), it says I don't have the correct access privileges. It's a straight up denial, no prompt for alternative login info.
My first thought was this; go "Map Network Drive" and map the Mike folder directly (\\xserver\Users\Mike), but use the correct login info (username/pass). It prompts me for the username and password. HERES WHERE I'M STUCK! No matter what I put for the username and password, it denies me. I've tried resetting the password (through the server interface), then sucesfully logged in using my MacBook Pro (using the exact same username/password I had been trying with Win-doze)
Again, I can connect to most of server files and folders from the Windows 7 machine (after following the "Set value to 'Send LM & NTLM' " procedure suggested by Vocal Jazz Fan on these forums. BIG THANK YOU!)
So, is this impossible to fix? Is it just the nature of the beast running Windows machines on a Mac server? Why is it only these protected files that I can't access? That seems so strange to me.
For a background, we had previously used Windows XP and logged into these folders with no problems.
Note: this server is at a community center and thus has very limited funds and computer expertise, hence the reason we're two full OS's behind. If we cannot get this to work, we're prepared to hire some server jockeys to completely overhaul our server (run Windows on our Xserve hardware), which will take 2-3 days at about $120 an hour. Please help!

I'd spend a few of those US$120 per hour hours with a Snow Leopard Server upgrade, as the software has matured substantially from Tiger Server to Leopard Server to Snow Leopard Server.
[Here are my crib notes for getting Windows to work with Mac OS X Server (Snow Leopard Server)|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1590], which might be useful as a starting point.
With those Windows registry keys as search targets, there are a number of discussions of getting Samba password-protected shares to work with Windows and Windows 7 boxes posted around the network, both at Microsoft and via the Samba mailing lists.
These cases sometimes get as far as running Wireshark and dumping the network traffic, too.

  • Password protecting files which will be uploaded to a web site

    Hi,
In Snow Leopard I know that Disk Utility will create a disk image that can be password protected. Can that disk image be opened by a windows computer as well as a mac? Is there any other way to create a password protected file in SL? I need to upload secure audio files for clients to ultimately download (clients may not be very handy with computers). Thanks

An encrypted disk image can't be opened by anything without the password, unless you have the resources of a national security agency. There's no other way to password protect files or folders in OS X. Give it up, your paranoia is showing.

  • Open Password protected files - up to version 9

The Acrobat reader released for Android will only open version 6 files with ANY  type of security applied. As a publisher, I need to be able to publish secure  documents in current formats (version 9). Saving back 3 revs is a little crazy and  can only prevent printing, not access and can be cracked for free in seconds. Need to be able open Version 9  and older password protected files (access and printing control).  Thanks.

The third party solutions rely on features in the Desktop / PC Reader (like JavaScript) that are not supported in the Mobile Reader. So, when your school says you must use Adobe Reader it means the desktop Reader and its full feature set. If you have a sample file and can share it, I can verify, but the problem you describe sounds exactly like one of these third-party protection solutions. Typically, they embed a login field in the document itself and use JavaScript to communicate with a server for verification. The solutions supported by the Mobile Reader either use password protection as documented in the PDF specification where the Reader does not need to validate with a server, or they use the Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management. I’d like to figure out how to support these third party solutions in the Adobe Reader Mobile product, but without help from the vendor, it will take some time and possibly reverse engineering which features of the Adobe Reader Desktop product they are using.
