Password-protected Keynote on 1st mac, keynote locked open on 2nd mac

I create a presentation in keynote on one mac, and set it to require the password to be entered to exit the presentation. I then transferred this presentation to another mac, and now the 2nd mac won't recognize the passwords (for the 1st mac or current -- 2nd -- mac) to let me out of the presentation. Help!

Do you mean that Keynote on the second machine is not recognizing the username and password of the account on which it is running? The "password to exit" feature doesn't actually store any password in the Keynote file -- the name and password that are requested are simply the account name and account password on which the presentation is currently running. (So, for example, if you run the same presentation on two different computers, you will use two different names and passwords to exit the presentation, the account names and passwords on each computer.)
If you are using the account name and password of the second machine, and it still is not working, you may want to uncheck the password option on the second machine, save the presentation there, then re-check the option and resave. Also be sure that you have both the right account name and the right password for the second machine.

Individually Password protected files from OSX 2.8 not opening in OSX 4.6

I have a few files that I password protected in OSX2.8 that will not open now in OSX 4.6. The are not part of the vault type protection. It seems that the feature of individually password protecting files in the earlier OSX system do not open, nor give the option to even give the password. In the get info window there is no option to change or type in the password. The password is not related to the administrator password and it seems that it was a feature that did not follow through to the later OSX version. The only alternative I can think of is to install OSX 2 on an external and hope it gives me the option.
Does anyone know how to deal with this type of individually protected file in OSX 4.6? I have tried the vault, and the get info, but nothing seems to work to even give me the option to enter a password for an individual file. They are jpeg, and QuickTime, and Photoshop .psd files.
Any ideas?

Close Photoshop Elements 8 and Bridge CS5.
Download Camera Raw_6_2.dmg from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4809. Opening the downloaded file mounts the disc image containing the following two files: Camera Raw.plug-in and cameraprofiles.mpkg.
Put the new version of the Camera Raw.8bi file that was downloaded into the same location as the original version.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not your home folder).
Navigate to the following location: Applications/PSE8/Plug-Ins/File Formats.
Move the original plug-in from the location listed in step 5 to a backup location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure that you keep this version in case you want to revert.
Copy the downloaded copy of the Camera Raw plug-in into the installation location listed under step 6.
Launch Photoshop Elements 8 or Adobe Bridge CS5.
To install Camera Profiles, double-click CameraProfiles.mpkg and then follow the on-screen instructions

I have a old ipod using iOS 6.1.5.
Whenever I connect to a Mac/PC, it does not ask for password to have the PC/Mac access the photos on the iPod.
On other Mobile devices (Android/Windows), if the mobile is password protected, I have to either enter the password in the PC/Sync application or have the mobile unlocked. (This is to have the PC access the password protected mobile's photos...etc.).
On this iPod(Maybe all iOS devices), itunes/iphoto directly accesses the photos on the ipod, even if the device is locked/password protected.
Now, how can I secure the ipod with a password, this is to prevent the ipod's photos being accesses in the event of loosing it or so?
Is there anyway?

I pasword protected my file around Reader 9.0. Now, I subscribed to Export for $24/year, but when I try to export it, I'm told it's pasword protected. Fine, I know my password. But nowhere can I find where I can put in my password so I can edit the damn thing. Help! How do I open a password-protected document? Where do I put my password in?

Maybe that's the problem. I used to have Acrobat Pro, but it's disappeared off my system. Can I re-install the old one I had? Or has Adobe stopped supporting the purchased software option?

Password protected PDFs from Acrobat XI cannot be opened in DC when the password contains a hyphen

I have documents created in Acrobat XI that are protected with an Open Password.
The password contains a hyphen "-".
They open fine in Acrobat XI, but Acrobat DC refuses to open them: "The password is incorrect. Please make sure etc..."
Documents created in Acrobat DC that are protected with passwords that contain a hyphen do not have this problem.
I am working with the latest Mac OSX 10.10.3
Luckily I still have Acrobat XI installed, but it is a problem for those with the new Acrobat DC and the new Reader.

AFAIK there were no code changes in this area between XI and DC, Are you doing all your processing on the same platform (Mac) or does the problem manifest when you move encrypted PDF between Mac and Windows. As I recall the problem that I was talking about manifest when encrypted PDFs were moved between platforms. If you do move your PDFs between platforms, then which Acrobat version do you use on which platform? Is it Acrobat DC on both Mac and Windows? On which platform/Acrobat version do you encrypt and on which platform/Acrobat version you try to open?

Domain not opening on 2nd Mac.

On computer1 I work on my site, save, quit, drag the "domain" to a firewire drive, made sure there was no existing domain on the 2nd computer, plug the drive into computer2 and when I open it and I am prompted to choose a page to start a new site. Do I need every piece of media from computer1? That can't be it can it? I'm not sure why I can't open it? Any help is mucho appreciated. Thanks.

After updating on my mac - I cannot open various password protected pages - like my WordPress site. I can open them from Safari and from Firefox on my windows pc.

Well its a bit simply really, I am just looking for something that will allow me to password protect mainly my messages, although it would be nice if i could password protect other apps or things on my phone, but its mainly for messages

I dont think there is anything in settings but a general password, which it only asks for when you unlock the phone

I've has smartphones since before they were called that, and I've never had one that could password protect only the email app. There's nothing to understand or not understand; the iPhone cannot password protect just email. You can lock the phone with a passcode. That's it.

I just installed IWork with the hope of not needing to buy office for my new Mac. I have a number of password protected xls files that i need to open, and I am not given the option to put in the password?
Any way around this, or am I stuck buying office?

You cannot open them with iWork but you do not need to buy office. Download free Neooffice and open them up and get rid of the password. Then save them as xls files. And then you can open them up by numbers. Neoofice is free at neooffice.org

Yes. Go to the Settings app, and select safari. There will be a section called "Autofill", and you can enable it to save your passwords and auto-fill your personal information taken from the address book. Also, iOS automatically saves all Wi-Fi passwords, so there is no need to save it manually yourself.

I have it set up so my Macbook Pro and PC's in the house can access it. i have some files that i would like to protect(sensitive personal info.). Would a good workaround be to use disk utility to set up a password protected sparse image, of course being connected directly to the Mac, then connect the drive to the Airport Extreme?
Then, couldn't one use that drive and protected files as normal on the airport? It would just require one extra step of using a Mac to set things up first.
I disconnected my Airport so cannot check it out for myself.

Microsoft office 2011 under Mavericks: can not open password protected files

I think that it all started with the installation of Mavericks.
I have a few Microsoft office 2011 files (excel and word) that are passord protected. Now, it's telling me that the file can not be opened due to an encrytion sheme that is not available in this country (I'm in Canada).
I've re-installed Microsoft Office, but that did not solve the problem.

Same problem for me, I had two password-protected Word files and both won't open now. It started after i tried to add support for an additional language (spanish), but removing it afterwards did not fix the problem.
OS 10.9, Office mac 2008 AND 2011 wont open the files BUT Preview can open it! (BTW this saved me)

I can't password protect my Playbook

Hey guys I posted over at Crackberry but couldn't find anything there, hoping somebody can help me here:
I noticed this with OS 2.0 that my playbook refuses to go in standby and password lock. This is whether I hit the power button to go in standby, or hit standby or the lock button through the software key.
And when I hit lock, I can always swipe and wake the device. I have a password set and its also set for 10 minutes and it doesnt lock at all.
I cannot make it lock right away, nor can I get it to lock after the set time of 10 minutes.
This is really frustrating because I cannot have this darn thing wide open for anybody to pick up and look through.
I don't know what problem this is. I have done a full security wipe two times now, reset the thing multiple times over (through the button holds or software button reset). And I have reinstalled the software.
Do not understand what is going on. Anybody have a clue? I just want the darn thing to lock. And on the side matter, it looks like it is always on and not going on standby, so when I lock the screen and put it away, it will be super warm and the screen will be on when I pull it out its case (blackberry leather envelope)

Basically I have already done the hard and soft reboots on the playbook and I cannot password protect at all. if this dont work then you have a device issue most likely and need to contact RIM for support.
First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

Hi all,
I convinced my dad to use Mail for his mail client, but he wants to be able to password protect it so no one can just open Mail and read all his e-mail.
I'm not sure this is doable but I wanted to ask, thanks.

I'm trying this on my system so when I connect to his Mac I'll know what to do.
But for example I have three email accounts setup in Mail.app, I believe in Keychain Access there is an entry for both the incoming and outgoing server, totally 6. So I have to do what you said to each of those entries?
And if so how is that going to prompt Mail.app to ask for a password whenever it's opened?
Sorry I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

Password protecting files which will be uploaded to a web site

In Snow Leopard I know that Disk Utility will create a disk image that can be password protected. Can that disk image be opened by a windows computer as well as a mac? Is there any other way to create a password protected file in SL? I need to upload secure audio files for clients to ultimately download (clients may not be very handy with computers). Thanks

An encrypted disk image can't be opened by anything without the password, unless you have the resources of a national security agency. There's no other way to password protect files or folders in OS X. Give it up, your paranoia is showing.
