Password protected PDF says it is downloaded but is not

I am attempted to download a password protected PDF file using the newest version of Firefox and Adobe. Firefox says a file has been downloaded but the file is not seen in the download file or the download tab in Firefox. Any ideas what the problem is, this is a new computer I am trying to set up. There is a virus protection program that could be causing this. I currently use Firefox and Adobe on my old computer with what appears to be the same setting without any issue.

Are you saving the file or are you opening the file directly in the Adobe Reader?
Did you check the Windows %temp% folder?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

    I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

  • Password protected PDF says PROOF right in the middle! can i convert to a word Doc and edit it?

    I created some brochures at vista-print and i want to e-mail previous prospects our new pricing

    Depends on the encryption. Doesn't always work.
    Plus, we do not discuss workarounds to Adobe security here on the Adobe site. If the person that supplied the pdf wanted them to change the document, they either would have removed the password or supplied it.

  • New Audiobook says it's downloaded but does not show up as download in Music Player

    Hi
    I've paid for an audiobook from iTunes on my iPhone.  It says downloaded on iTunes even now, but it's not on my phone under Music Player and audio books.  Any idea please.

    Either put the files in the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder in your iTunes folder, or use the iTunes file menu > Add to Library... and select the files in the dialogue box that comes up, or just select the files and drag them to your Music library in  iTunes' left column.

  • Reading password protected pdf email attachments

    When I open a password protected pdf file that was attached to an email received on my iPhone, it appears to open (accurate page count displayed top left corner) but the page is blank and I never see a prompt that asks for the password.

    I'm having the same problem, I've tried to open password protected pdf files on my iPhone, but the password screen doesn't appear. I've tried 2 different pdf reader apps from the app store. I was going to buy an iPad for reading my ebooks from college but I won't until I can get this figured out. The school says Adobe and Apple don't play well together and that is the problem. Hope someone has a work around for this.

  • Need to recreate a password protected PDF but can't unlock origional

    I have a password protected PDF protfolio that I need to recreate but no longer have the origional password for.  I could just write a new PDF, but so much time was spent creating the origional.  Is there a way to save a copy and then re-apply the password security?

    I want to add that the pdf password unlock programs usually are easier to break the permission password for you to copy, print and edit with corresponding tools. But to crack the open password it's more difficult and if your file is protected by this kind of pdf security, you may have to type word by word from scratch.....

  • Convert Excel into Password Protected PDF Files

    Hello Aandi/Lenoard,
    I believe you are the Adobe Forums administrators so I thought you guys are the right people to approach.
    OTHERS ARE ALSO INVITED TO COMMENT ON THIS TOPIC.
    I have C# desktop app which generates Excel files and our goal is to convert these excel files one at a time into password protected PDF files. We use a 3rd party software currently, but I am challenging myself into saying that I can use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 SDK to achieve what is required .
    I have downloaded Acrobat 9.0 SDK and also have Adobe Professional 8.0(trail) in my development machine. Can you firstly tell me if this is possible and secondly what would be required on the client machines to run it?
    THanks,
    Andy

    "Encrypt with Password" is the policy name, not the policy id.
    Did you try enumerating the policy object to see how to set it up? I ran this from the console to get the policy details:
    var policy = security.chooseSecurityPolicy();
    for ( var i in policy )
    console.println(i + ": " + eval("policy." + i));
    That will pop up your list of policies. Choose "Encrypt with Password" and hit Apply, which returned the following:
    policyId: SP_STD_default
    name: Encrypt with Password
    description: This policy will allow you to set an open or modify password on a document.
    handler: Adobe.Standard
    target: document
    Of course, all you really need are the policyId, handler and target. Make sure you read and thoroughly understand the security requirements documented in the API reference for this method as well.

  • On android tablet/phone login box fails to appear to enable access to password protected files. says' unable to open file. try again later'. This only occurs where Adobe is already installed

    On all the android devices we have where Adobe reader has been installed,  no login box appears to enter a password where this is required to read the file. A message comes up saying the file cannot be accessed at this time, and to try again later. The box does however appear where Adobe isn't installed, but as soon as Adobe is installed in order to read the file, it becomes inaccessible again. What do I need to do.

    Hi,
    Are you trying to open a password protected pdf? Could you please forward the file to [email protected] so that we may investigate?
    Thanks,

  • Password-protected PDF demands password in triplicate

    I'm having problems with a password-protected PDF (created in Acrobat Pro 8 ) which opens fine with a single entry of the password when downloaded but when website visitors try to open the form directly in their browser it keeps asking for the password and will only open on the third password attempt (by when most visitors will have given up on it). Could you please tell me what is causing this phenomenon and whether I can fix it? TIA.
    Simon

    It looks like this issue may be limited to files that have been set to restrict the user's ability to print or edit the document (even after a password has been entered for viewing).  I found that a password-protected PDF could be viewed in iBooks, but after I added the print restriction, I had the same problem you reported.

  • How to display in browser a password protected pdf file I created?

    I created a password protected pdf file.
    I want to display the file in browser so that viewers can only view it online.
    It is better that viewers cannot download it.
    But I donot know how to prevent viewers downloading the file.
    Since the pdf is password protected, viewers don't have the password even they download it.
    But how can I display the password protected pdf file in browser when I know the password?
    Or is there a better to just viewers see the pdf file online and prevent them from downloading and printing it?

    Any file on the web has to be copied to the local machine in order for the file content to be presented to the viewer. That's how the "www" is built.  So, to make use of your web based PDF the file has to be downloaded to the local machine. This might be to the local machine's temporary internet / browser cache or (via a 'save this to my computer') to some other location on the local machine's HDD. Bottom line -- web based files get downloaded this is the case for protected file or a non-protected file.
    Be well...

  • Password protected .pdf's always corrupted?

    My employer emails my payslips as .pdf attachments protected by a PIN. On (my old phone, a Samsung Europa/GT-I5500 running 2.2 and ) my iPhone running iOS5 these files won't open. When downloaded an error message displays saying the file is corrupt or damaged. The same file viewed on a PC or through iPhone mail will open with the PIN and is readable. Is there anyway to get the adobe reader app to open these files? For obvious reasons I'd rather not share the files.

    I don't believe that password-protected PDFs are yet supported in Reader mobile.

  • Printing password protected pdf

    I have iPad with HP ePrint installed. I can't print password protected pdf on it but I can use HP ePrint on my Android HTC phone to print. How can I solve this?

    Hi,
    Solution: send files to HTC phone to print. iPad will always detect password protected and won't print, no crack. I don't know how HTC (or Android) can do this.
    Regards.

  • Opening Password protected PDF's

    I am using the AcrobatPDFOCX control in a Visual Basic 2005 program to open and view PDF documents.  I have several password protected PDF files that I wish to open using this control.  Here is the command that I use to open  a PDF File
    AxAcroPDF1.LoadFile(Application.StartupPath + "\" + FileName + ".PDF")
    When this command executes for a Password Protected PDF I am prompted to provide the password.  Is there a way to pass the password programmatically from VB to the password protected PDF file thus allowing it to open.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.  I tried SendKeys.wait("Password") and SendKeys.sendwait("Password").  Neither one appeared to work.  Prompt for password showed but the string "Password" was not read or sent or went to bit heaven. I tried using WinExist("Password") but VB is saying this function has not been declared.  Can you help with the declaration I need to activate this function?

  • Bursting generates Password protected pdfs

    Hii,
    I have a bursting requirement for one of my report. I have included this functionality but the bursting always generates password protected pdfs. I have pdf security set to False hence it should not generate the password protected pdfs!!
    Please suggest what could be the issue.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your reply.
    You mean to say Bursting file right? I don't think we have security true there. following is the bursting file i am using.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xapi:requestset xmlns:xapi="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/xapi">
    <xapi:request select="/XXOM_RMA/LIST_G_RETURN_REQUEST_DATE/G_RETURN_REQUEST_DATE">
    <xapi:delivery>
    <xapi:filesystem output="/applodev/ipodevappl/xxipo/11.5.0/archive/out/XXOMRMA_REP_${R_A}_${CONC_REQ}_${S_U}.pdf">
    </xapi:filesystem>
    </xapi:delivery>
    <xapi:document output-type="pdf" delivery="">
    <xapi:template type="rtf" LANG='en' location="xdo://XXIPO.XXOM_RMA.en.US/?getSource=true" filter="/XXOM_RMA/LIST_G_CUSTOMER_NUMBER/G_CUSTOMER_NUMBER[LANG='en']"/>
    </xapi:document>
    </xapi:request>
    </xapi:requestset>
    But you know what, if i look at the bursting conc program log file, it says pdf_security = true. Not sure where exactly where this security is true. any guesses?
    Thanks.
