Password Question

I am trying to update the Adobe Flash Player and it is asking for my password.  I have put the password I use for I-Tunes and it doesn't work. So it must be a different password.  How do I find out what that could be?  I have no idea and I have no idea how to re-set it.  Thank you.

Hi ..
It's asking for your admin password not your iTunes account password.
Reset your admin password:
OS X Mavericks: If you forget your login password
OS X Mountain Lion: If you forget your login password
OS X: Changing or resetting an account password  <  v10.6 or earlier
You may be able to reset your admin password using your Apple ID >  OS X: Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password - Apple Support
If you aren't sure which OS X version is installed on your Mac, click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click: About This Mac

  • So you want to change your primary mail but can't get past the password question?

Claudius, either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else? furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.and I need to point out that you are incorrect. I WAS NOT OPERATING ON DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS I WAS OPERATING ON ONE SKYPE ACCOUNT, THAT WAS CREATED USING A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT just like you say you recommend. I still don't know how you can misread my initial entry like that.  If you have a better solution to my initial problem - changing the primary mail of a skype account created throuth either a microsoft account or a facebook account, Please write a sticky to explain how to do it, and please inform skype support that Yes it can be done, and this is the way it is done. So far my "lucky shot" seems to be the only way to do it.

Hi!I ran into the same problem as a lot of other people seem to have done. I am changing ISP and because of that I have to change my mail address from my 10 year old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to something else, this time I choose to use an outlook.com address in the hope that I will be able to keep that a bit longer. last week I realized that my skype account had my old expiring address as the primary mail, and that the primary mail was the only mail that skype will use for communication with me - I already had 2 other mail addresses in my skype profile (outlook.com and gmail). The skype account was created last summer using my microsoft account, and the microsoft account is the only means I have for accessing the skype account. So I logged on and opended the profile page, went on to edit the info and marked my outlook mail as the primary, clicked save and got the password question. I entered the password I use for logging on (ie the microsoft account password), but was told that the password was wrong. I tried everything and some more things, I spent 40-50 minutes on a text chat with skype support, only to be told that it can't be done and that the skype account was hard tied to the mail address I had used when creating the account, which I found very strange as I had used my microsoft account. yes, when I created the skype account, the only mail I had connected to the microsoft account was my "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" mail, but I have since then, without any problems, been able to create an outlook.com address, and have that added, added a gmail account, set the outlook.com as the primary for the microsoft account and remove the "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" address from the microsoft account. no problem. The problem is actually worse as the mail account will be free for use after april 1, which means that a person claiming that mail address will risk getting extremely confusing mails regarding a skype account they don't have, they will have difficulties creating a skype account of their own, AND they can take over my skype account (as they are the owners of the mail address) and I won't be able to stop them. How is that for security  Fortunately I spent 2 more hours and stumbled on the solution  This is where a normal scam artist would ask you to click on a link to a web apge that would releive you of all your money, but I won't do that. so, what is going on when you want to change the primary email, why isn't your password accepted??? It turns out that when you create a skype account using your microsoft account (and I guess  your facebook account), skype will actually create a "proper" skype user account as well, but they hide it from you, and you won't get a password set for it. It is the password for this "hidden" account you have to enter when you want to change the primary password It turns out that I was also unable to connect my facebook account to my skype account for the very same reason, but here it was more obvious, as I had to enter my skype username and passwor when connecting the accounts, and the microsoft account wasn't accepted there . so what do you need to do? well - those of you who have a smart tv (or some other device) that can't log on to skype using a microsoft account, have already done the work (provided you use that tv/device with skype) you log on to skype and open the account settings page, on the line below "microsoft account   [email protected]  unlink           change microsoft password" you'll see a line saying "TV or Device" or something similar (I have no idea what the english text is) here you have a link you can click on where you will be prompted to enter the password for your "live:username" account. once you have  done that you get instructions saying that for smart TVs etc, you enter "live:username" as the skye user and the newly created password as your password. The good news is that you now have 1) the identity of your skype user ("live:" and your name where the user name is the combined string "live:username" which in my case was "live:myname"); and 2) a password that is valid for your skype account. what I did next was open up the profile page, edit the profile, mark the outlook.com mail address asthe primary, click save and when prompted for the password, I entered the password I set in the previous step, and that's it, I now had a new primary mail (I got the confirmation mai sent to the new mail address right after I updated the info in skype). I also successfully removed my soon defunct mail address from the mail address list in my skype account, and I then connected my facebook account to my skype account (using live:myname ase the username and my shiny new password). So at the moment I have three different methods available to me when logging in to skype:- my microsoft account- my skype user (live:myname)- my facebook account.the ONLY thing to be aware of is that the name of the microsoft account, as presented on the account settings page in skype, still is my old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] mail address NOTE that this is a presentation issue only, someone thought that it was a good idea to save the original name of the microsoft account in the skype database and use that for presentation. It is NOT used when logging on, when you log on it will use the UID of you rmicrosoft account. if it disturbs you, you can always disconnect you rmicrosoft account from your skype account and reconnect it, and you should see the current mail address associated with the microsoft account. (this is safe to do because you have at least one other method to log on ) I hope that skype will amend their FAQ with this info. I did enter into a second chat with skype support, explaining what I díd to resolve the problem they failed to solve. so there it at least 2 people at skype support who know how to resolve the problem. -cheers,Anders

  • Forgot 2nd email used for forgotten password questions

I set up a iCloud for 5 year old daughter, I think someone logged in and changed the emergency email We know the password. But its requesting the forgotten password questions. Don't remember 2 of them . I normally can figure these out, but for the life of me I can not find the email to send reset questions to

is there a link to change the email where I send the forgotten questions too?

  • Is the password question  in app store occur each time i want to buy or i can change that in the settings to enter it just once?

If by anychance i signed in app store to buy a game using my friend"s  ipad , and i forgot to sign out , does it mean that he can continue buying apps without facing the password question ? Or he must enter password for each purchase? Is it possible to save password from the first time signed in ?
Is changing the password of my app store account sufficient enough to protect my privacy ?
    Thanks

You would have to move to the U.S. and find a place to live.  Then you would have to get a credit card billed to that U.S address.  Then, as long as you were inside the borders of the U.S., you could buy from the U.S store.

  • Game Center nickname password question:

My daughters each have their own nicknames for Game Center on their iPod Touches. Each nickname has its own password. My youngest can't remember her password.
Since I updated her iOS, I have to log her back into her Game Center account. Is there a way to retrieve her nickname password without resetting my Apple ID password? Since they are minors and don't have email addresses, they are all on my Apple ID. Resetting my Apple ID doesn't seem to work, and it's the only thing Apple seems to want to do. I can't find a way to contact Game Center directly.
    Any other ideas?

  • Network home folders: iCloud password question re-appears at every logon

    Hello,
Is there any way to enable iMessage and Facetime together with Network home folders. Im using Mavericks server (Directory services enabled) and two Mavericks clients. Every time a user that was using machine A logs on to machine B the iClouds password prompt re-appears and subsequently security questions are sent to iOS devices that a new device was added.
Is there a way to circumvent this? I think I tried once in combination with mobile home folders. However, even if I excluded iMessage/Facetime system files from syncing, questions still re-appeared.
The more iCloud services are tied into the system, the more you would like to use them; even if you are using network home folders.
    Regards,
    Thomas

    I also have this question.

  • MDM API Password questions...

    Hi Guru's
I have some questions for which i am struggling to get the answeres on how MDM handles passwords using MDM's API's
    1. Is there a COM API for management of MDM users? COM documentation that we have does not mention anything.
    2. To avoid using any server side code, is it possible to remotely call the IF_MDM_ADMIN bapi through the RFC interface?
    Regards
    Vikrant M Kelkar..

Hi! What about using ABAP method "create_user":
    CALL METHOD lr_api->mo_admin->create_user
    EXPORTING
    is_user_information = ls_user
    IMPORTING
    ev_new_user_id = lv_new_user.
ls_user holds user name and passw.
    Refer to ABAP MDM API

  • ICloud password questions

My Mac asks iCloud password since some days every time I open Mac Mail. How can I stop it?
Yesterday the Internet connection (Safari) got stucked, I had to close the MacBook by using the start button.
When I opened iCloud settings without internet connection, the question popped on the screen again.
I took away the Find my Mac setting from the list, and thereafter the internet worked normally.
However, this morning, the Mail asked again iCloud password. I allways ignore it.
I noticed inDaily Mail Online, that there were cases in Australia, where peolple got thei Mac stucked and had to pay ransom.
It was supposed that this was connected to Find My Mac settings in iCloud.

You're looking at three different and unrelated problems:
    Mail asking for iCloud password
    Safari crashing/not responding
    Ransom requests
    1. This has been a problem discussed here months ago. Several solutions were offered. The one I used was to delete my Apple account info in Mail and set it up manually. That simply forced Mail to re-write the old, corrupted plist with the correct info.
    2. Use the "Force Quit..." item under the 'Apple' menu to see if an app is "Not Responding" or simply busy. If "Not Responding", select (highlight) it and use the "Force Quit" button. Avoid the Power button shut down method as you may end up corrupting other things that may be accessing the hard drives.
    3. There is already a huge thread on this topic (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6270410?start=375&tstart=0). So far, there is no reliable evidence that it is related to 'Find My Mac' at all. The ransom requests are all related to mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, etc.).

  • Safari Mail Password question

    Hello,
I am new to the mac world and got a macbook (not pro) for xmas. Everything appears to be ok but I have a question regarding the mail option. I believe I have leopard because I use safari to hit the web but Im not sure. If someone could verify that it would be great. My main question is that when I hit the mail icon which looks like a stamp my email account pops up automatically which is nice but I don't want anyone else to check my emails but me. How could I go about having mail prompt me to ask for my password before I can access the messages. Right now I click on the stamp and I automatically see the messages and the bodies of the emails. Just want more privacy if possible. Ive tried what I know but no luck. Any guidance would be great.
    thanks

    Nancy
Welcome to the Mac and to the Apple user discussion forums
to find out what OS you have go to the apple menu ==> about this mac - Tiger is version 10.4.x and Leopard 10.5.x
You can go to the mail preferences ==> accounts and delete the password for your account so no one but you can pick up your mail but anyone with access to your account will still be able to see the mail you have already downloaded. The best way to keep your privacy is to go to he apple menu ==> system preferences ==> system ==> accounts and place a password on your account - others can use the guest account or you can set up accounts for anyone you want to have special priviliges -- then go to personal ==> security and tighten up the security settings requiring a password to wake from sleep, etc
This will secure your computer from all but the most determined, experienced users

  • Password questions on new mac pro

Please forgive a very elementary question from a decades-long PC user. Just received my first Mac ever, a 2.66, 4 gigs,2/500, ati card Pro. Struggling with passwords. Loaded my admin password at initial startup with a "hint" in case I forgot it. The computer now won't accept that password. Can't seem to find where the "hint" is contained to retrieve it. Tried to restart from install disc 1 while holding the "C" key, but the computer continued to boot up normally without going into utilities to allow a password reset. Any advice?
Initial impression of machine? One week early shipment, louder than my previous Sony Vaio VGC-RA834G PC tower with significantly louder HDD noise on Apple supplied drives, beautiful esthetics, beautiful graphics, very fast. Purchased for use with Final Cut Studio and Aperture. I know I will enjoy it once over these elementary PC to Mac transitional problems.
    Thanks for your help--
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    1. The hint may appear after you've made three incorrect password guesses.
    2. Restart your computer with the Option key held down; if you see a screen with a padlock icon, an Open Firmware password has been set on the machine and the C key shortcut is disabled. You will need to know the Open Firmware password or a Mac OS X administrator password to restart your computer from the DVD, which can be accomplished from the Startup Manager, which is what you see when the Option key is held down at startup. If the screen you see does not have a padlock icon, click on the DVD and then on the button with the straight arrow. If the DVD isn't in the drive, insert it and press the button with the curly arrow.

  • OIA 11.1.1.3.0 password question

    Hi,
I am really new to OIA. Just started looking into it this week. I was able to install it loaded some users created some resources and loaded some account information with out much trouble. I have also configured Web Access Control (sso).
When a manager logs in to certify account access, the last step of the certification process is asking the password of the user to complete the certification. Since I am using SSO, there is no password in OIA system. I am sure there is some sort of configuration parameter to suppress the password dialog. But unfortunately, the documentation is so lacking, I could not find that parameter.
Really appreciate if anybody can point me in the right direction.
    Thank you
    -Kamal

    Answering my own question..
The option is under the administration tab (Identity Certification and then General).

  • Itunes redeem gift cards & sign in password question

    two questions:
    1) my kids have gathered multiple itunes gift cards. is it possible to just load all the card numbers into the itunes redeem section, and use those for some other date, or do you have to download items immediately after listing each card?
    2) got my new macbook pro. everytime i open itunes it asks me for my password, and most times, it asks me to type it twice. is there a way to just have itunes remember my password so i don't have to enter it EVERY TIME i open itunes. i don't see a "remember my password" icon when it asks me to enter it.
    thanks,
    anthony

    1) You can redeem as many iTunes Gift Cards to your account as you like, and spend the store credit from those cards at your leisure.
    2) For security reasons, the iTunes Store does not remember your Apple ID password. If it did, my kids might reak havock on my account and yours could too lol

  • Keychain password questions

I've gotten used to most of OS X since my slow, late conversion to it two years ago, but its security arrangements still drive me nuts. I don't need them. I have no security concerns about my Powerbook. No master password is set on it. I'm the only user, except on occasions when I set up a new user for test purposes and then delete it. I know the admin password for my usual account, obviously, though I've set the PB up to log me in automatically on startup.
But somehow I've lost track of the password for my keychain(s), which I thought was the same password. I don't really understand what a keychain is, to be honest, and whenever I'm prompted to enter my password for it, I have to cancel out of the dialog box because nothing I can think of to enter is correct. I live in dread that one of these days I'm going to have to know that darn password. So, these questions:
    1. Can I set a new password for a keychain without knowing the old one?
    2. If not, can I delete a keychain completely without knowing the password, and what am I likely to lose if I do so?
(I regret to say that I find the online Mac Help's information on keychains almost completely opaque. Maybe it's just my anxiety getting in the way.)
    3. When I open Keychain Access and click "Show Keychains", two keychains appear: one with my username, which contains three certificates, three application passwords and an internet password; and another called system, which contains only my Airport network password. I've successfully deleted two or three entries that were outdated and superfluous from my user-account keychain, but I have no idea how much trouble I'd be in if I deleted all the rest. To add to my confusion, I get prompted for my admin password when I want to delete things from the keychain — not my keychain password. Can anybody point me toward a clear, cogent explanation of keychains and how to get them under my control instead of being at their mercy? Many thanks...

Reset Keychain Password: Assuming that you are using a recent build of OS X, go to /Applications/Utilities and launch the app called Keychain Access. Go to the Window pulldown menu and select "Keychain First Aid". Enter your password, set the radio button to "Repair", and click "Start".
    Tutorial: Keychain issues; resolving
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password.
This can be accomplished via the following process:
Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities
Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
    Click the "First Aid" tab
Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
    Close the Preferences window
Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
    Enter your username and password
    Click the "Repair" button
Another option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible.
This can be accomplished as follows:
Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting "New Keychain"
You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, enable a root user account, as detailed in Knowledge Base article #106290 (briefly: open NetInfo Manager, located in Applications/Utilities, click the lock and enter the administrator password, then select "Enable Root User" from the Security menu and follow on-screen instructions).
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, Keychain may be to blame.
For example, it appears that in some cases, failures in .Mac synchronization transfers are linked to issues with Keychain.
If you are having problems synchronizing data with .Mac servers, you may want to try the following process:
Open System Preferences and access the .Mac pane
    Click the "Sync" tab
Uncheck the "Synchronize with .Mac" checkbox
    Close System Preferences
Re-open System Preferences and repeat steps 1 and 2
Re-check the "Synchronize with .Mac" checkbox
If the above process does not re-allow synchronization, you may need to leave Keychain synchronization turned off in the "Sync" tab of the .Mac System Preferences pane.
    MacFixIt reader Faisal writes:
"I believe the problem may be related to Keychain sync overwriting or mangling the .Mac information in the Keychain. By disabling Keychain sync I seem to be able to sync again without issue."
A keychain is simply a secured database in which you can store userids and passwords securely. OS X integrates most applications to the Keychain so that when a userid and/or password is requested the Keychain fills in the information automatically unless you've elected otherwise. This is especially useful when accessing secure web sites so you don't have to remember every username and password you've assigned.
When you create a new account a new keychain file is created for that account. The account password is the default password used for the keychain so when you log into the account the associated keychain is opened automatically.

  • PowerBook 1400cs password question

    Hey folks!
I was recently given a PowerBook 1400cs/133, which had been previously used rather heavily but a few years ago fell into disuse. I've been rejuvenating it...I've gotten a new battery for it, updated it from 8.0 to 8.1, and cleaned up the hard drive.
This question pertains to the "Password Security" control panel. Yes, I've seen the previous thread about not being able to boot up due to a password being set. I don't know the password on what's newly my machine, but obviously I can boot into and use it without complication (and I do mean that no prompt appears at boot up which I have to hit cancel for). I can't update the hard disk drivers, which is telling.
Given that I can boot into OS 8.1, is there some way of recovering or changing said password? I'd ordinarily take it to an Apple Store, but I'm in college and there isn't one close by to begin with.
Thanks for any help you feel like offering!

    Translation,
click on someone's email link in their profile, contact them, convince them that you are legitimate, and then move on to solving your problem.
My son bought a G3 iBook at a pawn shop and by the time we drove home, we figured out how to contact the prior owner. A quick phone call revealed the fact that the laptop was in fact stolen. We arranged a second trip to the big city to reunite the owner with their laptop.
If you know the prior owner, or can search the bowels of the computer and find out the prior owner, that will go a long way towards legitimate computer dealings.

  • Why are password questions on the list?

Is there some way that Apple can redirect all of the password and similar questions to their proper group ?  I enjoy reading the discussion messages that pertain to vision.  I'm getting a huge number of emails from this group that do not belong here.
    Thank you Apple,
    Bob

I've had this question in the past. While I understand that this is a user forum provided by Apple, and Apple doesn't have control over user submitted contributions, it does have control over the Apple Support Communities website. I have a visual impairment and concur with panoramaBobl, Bob Thompson2's sentiment. It's immensely frustrating to read the same, '...I've forgotten my security questions and answers...', in an Accessibility > Vision forum.
Kappy, when you say, '.....we cannot respond.....',do you mean that this is an issue outside of contributors control, or something else that I'm not getting?
People who suffer from vision loss face enough problems in their day to day lives without having to trawl through others self inflicted mistakes. And anyway, haven't these people with lapsed memories ever heard of two step verification?
Hope this doesn't come across as confrontational. That's not my intent.
