Password Recovery SRW Switch problem - SRW224G4P
Hi,
i have a problem with an SRW224G4P.
I have lost my admin password. And yes i have read the "Linksys SRW series Switch Password Recovery Procedure".
My problem is that the message "Autoboot in 2 seconds - press RETURN or Esc. to abort and enter prom." don't appear.
So what can i do?
Thanks for your help.
After many reboots, many hours and several terminal software, i get never a message like "Autoboot in 2 seconds - press RETURN or Esc. to abort and enter prom."
Below an Log-File with all Bytes coming from the switch after reboot till then Logon-Screen appears.
So what can i do????? Any idea ??
Thanks for your help.

Password recovery for 2960 without loosing configuration
Hi,
I don't remember password for Cisco 2960 switch, now i want to recover the password. I have checked few documents but would like to know few things before following these steps.
1. Is password recovery procedure for Cisco 2960 switch is different from normal ctr+break then change the register method? As i am more confident of doing this procedure than using mode button and then renaming the configuration file.
2. If i follow below procedure then hope it won't erase the configuration including vlans information.?
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11756896/cisco-switch-29603560-password-recovery-and-factory-default-mode-button
3. Pressing mode button is an alternate to using ctrl+break sequence? and long pressing of mode button does't effect anything.
4. Restarting the switch after pressing mode button (without making any changes) will go back to previous configuration (working condition).
Thanks.1. Is password recovery procedure for Cisco 2960 switch is different from normal ctr+break then change the register method? As i am more confident of doing this procedure than using mode button and then renaming the configuration file.
Password recovery for switches, like the Catalyst 2K and 3K, are far more simpler. Read this: Cisco Catalyst Fixed Configuration Layer 2 and Layer 3 Switches
2. If i follow below procedure then hope it won't erase the configuration including vlans information.?
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11756896/cisco-switch-29603560-password-recovery-and-factory-default-mode-button
I've posted a link above. I'd recommend you read that one. The link you've posted is about someone who wants to make a simple procedure look complicated.
3. Pressing mode button is an alternate to using ctrl+break sequence? and long pressing of mode button does't effect anything.
Correct. Get your mindset out of the password recovery of routers. When you are dealing with some models of switches, it's the "Mode" button. There are no "Mode" buttons in routers, hence, the Ctrl+Break key is required.
4. Restarting the switch after pressing mode button (without making any changes) will go back to previous configuration (working condition).
If you did NOT rename the configuration file, yes, the switch will reboot and load the existing configuration file.
If you renamed the configuration file, the switch will reboot. Finding no configuration file, the switch will load the factory defaulted configuration. -

Hi,
In order for you to reset the SRW224G4P you need to use a Data cable and use the console port of the switch. Once you are on the Console screen you could do a hardware reset.

Elitebook 8530 sparekey problem after password recovery
Hi,
I'm a bit panicking - but will try to make this lucid.
I very much hope you guys can help..
It's the continuation of a problem I asked yesterday somewhere else.
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/1133738-check-after-password-recovery.html
Basic system information:
EliteBook 8530; runs on Vista Business. More details about system in above thread
But for a short run-down:
- Yesterday my user-password was not accepted.
- Still had admin-access via fingerprints
- Ran Malbytes anti-malware and AVG anti-virus - neither found much of anything.
- Made new admin account, used that to reset my password.
- Posted the above-mentioned topic whether someone could check for malicious processes.
- Yesterday evening shut down the computer as normal
- This morning it mentioned that recently a password had been reset [with some location I didn't know. Had my name in it twice, so perhaps root-password or something?
- Only option was to click 'OK' and enter HP Sparekey.
- Currently I have the following message: Some users have not enrolled for HP SpareKey recovery. Do you want to enroll now? Answer-options: Yes; No; Do not show again.
I don't know the implications or effects of any of them - so haven't done anything yet.
Note: I don't think any of the accounts have HP SpareKey enrolled. I have never seen about it previously.
However, I got my laptop via an university-program, so the operating systems etc. had been preinstalled.
It might be possible they installed ShareKey for the initial account - but I think I would've heard of that.
So please someone help me - I really don't know what to do..
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hey guys,
I don't want to hurry you or anything - but I could really need some advice here
Or should I be in a difference forum part; like http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-ZBook/bd-p/bsc-274 or http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Compaq-Elite-Pro/bd-p/bsc-271#.VBnV4lJIg1g
because it's an issue with an EliteBook?
Or don't you guys really know this particular problem either - and therefore can't advice?.. -
Password recovery for linksys slm224g2 switch
what is password recovery for linksys slm224g2 switch
Hi Kalpesh.
Unfortunately this series of switches doesn't have a password recovery. Only the reset infront of the device.
If you have forgotten the device password you have to reset the switch to factory default to access the interface again. -
SG-300 28P switches problem with VLAN Data and Voice, working all the time as Voice VLAN
Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for your help in advance. I’m pulling my hair to fix the problem.
I just got the new SG-300 28P switches. My Bios ordered for me. I did not know how it runs until now... not an IOS based. I really do not know how to configure it.
I have 2 VLAN are Data and Voice.
- Data VLAN ID is 2 IP 192.168.2.X/255.255.255.0
- Voice VLAN ID is 200 IP 192.168.22.X/255.255.255.0
- I created two vlans, in switch, Data and Voice.
- On the port number 28, it is trunk by default, so I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged.
- On the port number 26, it is trunk by default, so I add Voice vlan ID 200 tagged.
- On the port number 27, I add Data vlan ID 2 tagged for Data vlan out.
- Port settings No.1
I set it up as Trunk with Data vlan 2 untagged, and 200 Tagged (voice vlan). I plugged in a phone with a pc attached. But the PC will get to the vlan 200 to get the DHCP address, but no from vlan 2. The Phone works with correct vlan ip.
- Port settings No.2
Trunk with vlan 1UP, 2T, and 200T. The phone is even worse. Would never pick up any IP from DHCP.
- Port settings No.3
Access with 200U...of course the phone will work... and the PC could not get to its own vlan. Instead, the PC got an ip from the voice vlan. Not from VLAN 2.
I have Linksys phone I’m not sure if this help.
For more information I setup in switch,
- enable voice vlan
- set the port on auto voice vlan
- enable LLDP-MED globally
- create a network policy to assign VLAN 200
- assign this network policy to the port the phone is connected to.
I hope this information help to help me to setup Data and Voice vlans, to plug the phone to work with vlan Voice 200 (IP rang 192.168.22.X), from phone to Pc and pc work as Data vlan 2 (IP rang 192.168.2.X).I just got done setting up voice VLANs on an SF 300-24P and verified working. This was working with Cisco 7900 series phones connected to a Cisco UC setup.
Here's my sample config.
Note that I edited this by hand before posting, so doing a flat out tftp restore probably won't work. However, this should give you a clue. Also, don't take this as 100% accurate or correct. I've only been working with these things for about a week, though I've worked with the older Linksys SRW switches for a couple of years. I'm a CCNP/CCDP.
VLAN 199 is my management VLAN and is the native VLAN on 802.1q trunks.
VLAN 149 is the data/computer VLAN here.
VLAN 111 is the voice/phone VLAN here.
VLAN 107 does nothing.

Hi,
I have a problem with IPS-4240. Nobody of my workmates knows the password and I read that the only way is to reinstall the version of IOS. Is there any other way to recover the password than reinstalling?
thanks.
GNU GRUB version 1.0(11)2 (631K lower / 2096128K upper memory)
0: Cisco IPS
1: Cisco IPS Recovery
Model=IPS-4240
When you troubleshoot password recovery, pay attention to the following:
• You cannot determine whether password recovery has been disabled in the sensor configuration
from the ROMMON prompt, GRUB menu, switch CLI, or router CLI. If you attempt password
recovery, it always appears to succeed. If it has been disabled, the password is not reset to cisco.
The only option is to reimage the sensor.Hi,
Before recovering you can 1st check the current state of password recovery with using this command: show settings | include password
If you do password recovery without checking the recovery feature that it enabled or disabled than the password can not be set to cisco (It will show succeed) and you need to reimage the sensor. So, before using password recovery you should check that password recovery is allowed or not.

THE ISSUES ARE:
1. FORGOT PASSWORD
2. FORGOT PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO
3. EXCEEDED ATTEMPTS TO LOGIN
I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES FORUM PROBLEMS THAT ARE THE SAME. WHEN I FOLLOWED LINKS THAT SUPPORT GAVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
What I need is simply this: Blackberry to send me a RESET PASSWORD link to the email I have registered with Blackberry WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO. This will enable me to bypass unknown recovery password info and access my Blackberry ID account.
Why haven't I been able to find a solution to fix the problem?
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO EXIST........ ANYWHERE..... EVEN ON YOUTUBE BLACKBERRY ARE RUNNING AN OUT OF DATE SOLUTION CENTRE.
When looked online to Blackberry youtube video it shows a solution that doesn't exist! WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS UPLOADED IN 2011. DUH. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvdRb4qNG1M
If I can't remember my password or recovery password info there is NO other option available that will send me a reset password via email so I can keep my current BB ID.
KB34776 - does not apply because you HAVE TO BE ABLE TO REMEMBER YOUR RECOVERY PASSWORD!
CHECKED THIS OUT...
Workaround
If the BlackBerry ID password has been forgotten but the answer to the password recovery question is known, select Forgot Password on the smartphone and answer the recovery question to generate a password reset email. Follow KB28685 to complete this process.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user knows the email address used for the BlackBerry ID login but is unable to remember the associated password then it is possible to reset the password using the steps below:
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.
To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, log in to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field. For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow KB34137.
Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected], at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Log in to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected]. If the email is not found in the inbox, check the mailbox's Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user does not know the email or password that was used for the BlackBerry ID, the BlackBerry ID will be locked out after 10 unsuccessful login attempts. See KB24157 for BlackBerry ID lockout behavior.
THEN CHECKED KB24157......
Overview
BlackBerry ID is the master key to BlackBerry smartphone products, sites, services and applications, including BlackBerry Protect and the BlackBerry App World storefront.
To prevent unauthorized access to the account, the BlackBerry ID will become locked out after a number of failed attempts. See the information below for an outline on the expected behavior:
Local Authentication Lockout
On BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones if the user enters their BBID password incorrectly 10 times on the BBID sign in screen, verify password screen, or BBID Edit screens, they are LOCKED OUT of all the following functions on that BlackBerry device for 15 minutes:
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the sign in screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the verify password screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the BBID edit screens
Note: The user can still log in on the web or any other devices associated with their BlackBerry ID. They are only locked out on the device where the 10 incorrect attempts occurred. On the locked out device, after 15 minutes, they get 1 try to provide the correct password on the sign in and/or verify password screens. If they fail to enter the correct password, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes on that device.
Account Server Lockout
Users have total of 10 attempts to enter their password correctly against the BlackBerry ID Account Server.
The scenarios that increment the Account Server lockout counter are as follows:
Providing an incorrect password anywhere on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
Providing an incorrect password within the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on any BlackBerry device or BlackBerry PlayBook
Note: if a user provides an incorrect password 5 times on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid), and then 5 more times on the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on their BlackBerry PlayBook, the cumulative number of failed attempts is 10. Once the user has made 10 incorrect attempts to provide their password against the Account Server, they are locked out of the Account Server PERMANENTLY until they reset their password.
See KB26361 for information to reset a BlackBerry ID password
Note: The Account Server Lockout does NOT prevent the user from local authenticating on devices (the user can still authenticate on the sign in and verify password screens on their BlackBerry devices).
Forgot Password Lockout
If the user answers their Security Question incorrectly 10 times, they are locked out for 15 minutes of Forgot Password functionality on all interfaces such as:
BlackBerry website (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
BlackBerry PlayBook
BlackBerry smartphone
Note: After 15 minutes, they get 1 try, and if they fail to answer the question correctly, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes.
THAT DIDN'T WORK SO NOW ITS BACK TO..... KB26361
Overview

A confirmation message will display Your password has been successfully changed.
Click OK.
From the BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 7:
Navigate to Options > Device > BlackBerry ID.
Click on Change next to BlackBerry ID Password.
Enter in the current password, followed by the new password. Enter the new password again in the confirm password field, then click OK .
A confirmation message will display Your password has been successfully changed.
Click OK.
From the BlackBerry Playbook tablet:

Select BlackBerry ID.
Click on the Edit button next to Change Password.
Enter in the current password, followed by the new password. Enter the new password again in the confirm password field, then click Submit.
A confirmation message will display You have changed your password.
Click OK.
If the password for a BlackBerry ID account has been forgotten and the login is unsuccessful, use the following process to reset the password.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow. To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, login to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field. For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow KB34137.
To generate a password reset email, complete the following:
Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK. (Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed)
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected] , at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Login to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected] If the email is not found in the inbox, check the Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID email address is a BlackBerry mail address (e.g. <username>@tmo.blackberry.net), the BlackBerry ID password reset email will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone. Since the BlackBerry mail address is not accessible from a computer, the steps outlined in KB28111 will need to be performed.
IT ALL LEADS BACK TO THE SAME UNHELPFUL NON-SOLUTION OF USE THE PASSWORD RECOVERY QUESTION....
Can the tech department of Blackberry please sort out this ridiculous unhelpful system by sending customers a direct email if password is forgotten so they can reset without having to go through the above without finding a solution.
THANK YOU.Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
That said, it sounds like you have exhausted all of the automatic recovery methods...but just in case, please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
But do please keep in mind that security is a 2-way street...the human element play an equal part in that security, and you have failed at that in this situation, yet desire for the automated methods to still recover for you. Such just isn't possible, because your failure has exceeded the capabilities of the automated methods.
Hence, you likely need human intervention from an actual BB representative, which is not available in this forum (as discussed in the first link I gave you above). But, the methods to attempt to seek human intervention are posted within the 2nd link I gave you.
Cheers, and Good Luck!

Hp password recovery in windows 8
I just wanted to tell you of a recent experience I had when contacting HP support
I called them yesterday with what I considered to be a simple question I found out that this question in their eyes was not that simple
the question was how do I set Up a password recovery flash drive in Windows 8.
the the person from HP said that he would need to check and would I please give him a minute to do so, when he came back he said that hp computers did not have this option.
I said to him how could this be as windows 8 says you can do this I also said that in windows vista and windows 7 you could do this and Why Would windows 8 Be any different he said he didn't know But this was not an option available hp in windows 8 he also stated
if I were to forget my password would be to install my operating system again. I said to him that it seemed unreasonable that I would have to reinstall my os just to recover my password and the must be a simpler option than that. he said no that would be my only option if I were to ever forget my password. I then said to him I did not believe the information he was giving me was accurate and was he 100% sure of the information he was giving me, he said yes and that he would send me an e-mail giving me step by step instructions. I said okay bye, I did not believe what he was telling me so I went online and found out in about 2 minutes all we needed to do was set this up via the settings screen and user account where it give you the option to make a password recovery usb flash drive I understand that they cannot possibly know everything but I feel if they don't know they should be willing to tell you that they don't know and passed you on to someone who does rather Than making you spend hours reinstalling an operating system that you don't need to. it also seems to me outsourcing technical support to third world countries like in this case india where they may not have a full grasp of some of the finer subtletys of the english language and company like hp dell toshiba and many others need to return technical support to the countrys in which the computers are sold and 1 other thing why is it that we no longer get a set of recovery cds with new computer and have to make a set ourselves when so often in the process of making them some write error happens and you only find out that is there is a problem with them when you come to use them I know companies need to make a profit on the sale of the computers but surely there is enough profit margin for them still to supplie you with the recovery media you needHi,
I afraid the pritner is not supported on Windows 8:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03457812&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
You will not be able to use any other alternative driver with the printer as there are no drivers to allow the PC to communicate with the printer through a USB connection..
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
If my post resolve your problem please mark it as an Accepted Solution -

6509 - 720 Supervisor Module Failure after Password Recovery
Hi,
I attempted to perform a password recovery on a 6509 with dual WS-SUP720-3B modules running 12.2(33)SXI2A.
After changing the configuration register to 0x2142 and booting, I am getting a major error on the supervisor modules. I've changed the configuration register back to 0x2102 and am still getting the same error on both supervisor modules. I've also tried it with one module removed and one module installed.
I have about 30 seconds in where I can run commands before I get booted to rommon.
Any thoughts?

To answer your question:
A Is there any different procedure to install line modules in supervisor slots?
>>No there are no special configuration you need to do when inserting a line card in slots that normally would be for supervisor.
B Switch is having previously removed linecard (i.e, fastethernet module)in running configuration. Will it create any system crash?
>>No, it will not cause the switch to crash, when you see the configuration of a line card even after it was removed is quite normal, it's cold module provisionsing, you would not want to keep putting in a configuration for any line card after just resetaing them do you? -
I accidentally screwed up my apple id when trying to change my primary email address. Password recovery options and security questions arent working either to restore. Created a new appleid just to get into forums to ask a question but hesitate to sync itunes and iphone with it as i may lose all purchased music apps etc. can anyone help? i have received no email response frm apple support, it's been over 48 hours
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
Password recovery at catalyst 4507R-E
Hi. I have catalyst 4507R-E and 2 engines are located at this catalyst. the engines are active standby. when i begin to recover i write the recover config at main engine then i must be reset the catalyst after reboot active engine go to satndby and standby go to active. so i can not recover it.
how can i solve this?
must i first remove standby engine and then recover active engine
then put the standby and active engine configuration go to standby.
am i rigth? i am afraid the i lost the configuration because i have not backup configuration.
i used this PDF.
please write your comment.
thank you very much.Hi teymur,
You never lost your configuration, what you need to do is...
1. Make a complete config synch between active and standby supervisor engine (I hope autosync is already enabled)
2. Write the config to NVRAM on standby supervisor engine.
3. Now when you put back the standby supervisor engine, reload the active supervisor engine whcih take the standby be active and active be standby.
Also I would like to infor the password recovery procedure for you...
Try the below procedure with only one supervisor in the chassis.
1) Connect the console cable to the Supervisor IV console port
2) Reset the 4507 by power cycling the unit.
3) Interrupt the boot sequence by hitting CTRL+C
4) Using the confreg command, I set it to skip the boot-up configuration.
5) I issue the reset command to reboot the 4507 again.
