Password request every time I check mail?

I'm just uncomfortable that Mail must have password entered upon setting up an account.
In order words, I don't want my iPhone 3G to remember my password.
I rather enter password each time I send or receive mail.
Please don't ask me to use the phone lock feature.

But as you already know, the Passcode is the only way to secure your phone if you don't want people messing with it.

Every time I open my email inbox I am prompted to enter my password. Whether I enter it or "x" out of it, it continues to ask me for it every time. I went into settings and the stored password is not the correct one, so I update it, press done & it either says "server unavailable" or "save/edit," either way, it doesn't work (doesn't save when I press save, or doesn't allow me to save at all b/c of "unavailable server." I have, endlessly. It continues to prompt me every time. And when I try to update my password in settings I see it is the incorrect one, but cannot change it either because it won't save even though it says it is.. Or it says the server is unavailable.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, and then click General.
Open the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences
2. Select “Require password...NEVER after sleep or screen saver begins.” You can adjust the amount of delay before a password is required in the pop-up menu.
From what I am aware, you cannot turn off the keychain.

Also, I have my mail account set up from my Yahoo! account and every time I open mail, it asks for the password for my Yahoo! account. I have checked save this password to keychain and it persists on popping up repeatedly.

You don't want to disable keychain (if there's even a good way to do so), since it stores stuff like certificates and the such. It's quite useful.
Anyways, Keychains>Preferences>First Aid. Check Set Login Keychain as default. When you login, it unlocks the keychain.

Have to type password every time I use Mail

Last week I had to trash my keychains/passwords on the recommendation of Skype help. It solved my problem with Skype but now I get asked for a password every time I launch Mail.
I've tried Mail help and got the following advice:
"To change the keychain lock settings:
Open Keychain Access, located in Applications/Utilities (or click the link provided on this page).
Select your login keychain, choose Edit > "Change Settings for Keychain 'login'."
To reduce the number of requests for your keychain password, deselect the option for the number of minutes of inactivity before the keychain is locked, or increase the number of minutes. You can also deselect "Lock when sleeping" option."
I have three keychains, one called X509 Anchors and two called System. For all of them, Change Settings, etc is greyed out on the Edit menu.
I already posted this problem in the Mail forum and was advised to head over here.

in retrospect, I guess I did guess wrong.
I don't know enough about how key chain works, so I can't really help much there.
The only thing that comes to mind would be to trash your mail prefs, re-enter your account info, and see what happens.
Also, this is something I haven't tried so don't know if it would even work.. and that would be to un-Enable your e-mail account in mail(Mail>Prefs>Advanced), and create a new account with the same info, and see what happens.

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPhone. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

So, you are saying that you set up a brand new Apple ID and then signed into iCloud with it, correct?
Are you also saying both accounts are disabled for Security reasons? If not, why can't you sign on with the one that is not disabled?

every time I open mail since I downloaded lion, it closes. I have restarted the computer and had the problem reported to apple each time. I have also made sure that I have downloaded the most recent versions of any programs available.

Yes I'm logged in. It only does it on my iPad. I tried restyling my Apple ID password and it still does the same thing.

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.

Loosing all mail acounts every time I launch Mail

Ever since the first of the year (01/01/2007), Mail has been problematic. It began with losing all my pop account information. I re-entered all the pop settings and all seemed to be back to somewhat normal (albeit I lost all my previously sent mail). All seemed to be working fine until I quit Mail. I was right back to where I was before, I had to re-enter all the pop settings, and once again I lost all my sent mail. It appears that every time I launch mail it seems it's launching it for the first time. Please help, for email is a huge part of my livelihood and having to go to multiple locations to check mail is killing my productivity.
I have a PB G4 running OS10.2.8 with Mail 1.2.5 (v553)
I am also experiencing similar problems when launching Safari 1.0.3 (v85.8.1) and IE Explorer 5.2.2 (5010.1) -- my computer seems to re-set my preferences back to the factory pre-sets every time I launch these applications.

Your problems are not date related or related to anything else than not having adequate free hard drive space.
RAM is important but a lack of adequate free hard drive space is the key here and you have so little free hard drive space available, there is a good chance data will be lost (more than just application preference file loss) unless you free up some hard drive space in a hurry.
What is your hard drive capacity?
The link provided recommends having no less than 5 GB of hard drive space free so you have some work to do.
After freeing up some hard drive space, there is a way to recover all messages but some of these messages may have been lost due to having such a small amount of free hard drive space available.

IPhone repeatedly accepts meeting every time I open Mail

My iPhone is annoyingly sending a meeting acceptance e-mail for a particular meeting every time I open Mail on the iPhone. I've checked the Outbox, Drafts, etc from my iPhone and nothing shows up. I've also checked all the folders from Outlook Web Access, including the Sync Conflict folders, and I don't see this particular meeting invitation response anywhere.
I have also tried rebooting my iPhone, but the problem persists. Has anyone seen this issue before, and does anyone have an idea how to resolve it?

Many posts regard this issue. Happens with both Exchange and Kerio servers currently. Points to an issue with the iPhone which leaves us waiting for Apple to fix it.

Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars. Tap on the name of the account. Tap Advanced. Tap Remove after one day.
Also, do not try to read or delete messages while they are downloading. Wait until they finish and the phone beeps to confirm. If you delete messages before the mail retrieval session finishes they will not be removed from the server.

As rex already mentioned, Apps and other content are forever tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them. No transfers. No combining Apple IDs. Forever means forever.
In practice, this means any apps you currently have - free or paid - will need to be either repurchased using your new Apple ID or downloaded again if free. Until you refresh all of your apps, your iPad will ask for credentials to the old Apple ID any time one of the apps is updated.
Why did you feel it was necessary to create a new Apple ID?
