Password reset problems for 3+ weeks?

I can't help but think that I'm in an endless loop and I'll never be able to reset my password. Every 5 days or so I get this email from Apple:
"Unfortunately there has been no change in the situation as of yet. I do understand your frustration as this has gone on longer than any of us expected.   
As Apple takes the security of  our customer’s accounts as a priority, this discomfort is a necessary evil to ensure our customers have an added level of protection. As technology is constantly changing, these safeguards have to be updated periodically to stay ahead of potential issues with online identity.
At present, our ability to manually reset customer's passwords, cancel accounts, move and remove gift card credits from accounts and security questions are still under investigation. The investigation in question is not with your specific account, but with all Apple accounts. Apple is currently reviewing some of our internal processes, because of this, we still do not have the ability to make any alterations to accounts at this time. I apologize again for any inconvenience this has resulted in. I do not have more information regarding a possible time frame for resolution. "
Is this true?  I can understand this going on for a day or two but for 3-4 weeks?  All I want to do is reset my password.  I can't start a new iTunes User ID as I get a message that my email is already assocaited with an existing Apple ID.

I lost track now, but I belive advisors have been locked down for over 4 weeks now by this snafu.

    I seemed to have forgotten my password to access HP Connect/ePrinter and requested a reset password link; and this is what happens if you click the email link:
    I left it a day or two - no change
    I left it a week - no change
    I then forgot and came back about two months later - no change.
    I tried finding somehow to contact HP about this - no way were they going to talk to me, or receive an email from me.
    I desperation, I created a new email address, just to access the site; and there is still no way to contact HP and find out if they are fixing the server within this century.
    Anyone know how to get around this problem?

    Hello,
    I'm having really weird problems with my skype account [Redacted for privacy.]. I registered a new one just to post this message, because I can't log in with my original.
    I checked - I have 3 emails set in my profile. I'm logged in on the Skype App. Everything I want to change requires a password, and it doesn't accept the pass, even though I have it saved (using 1pass).
    When I attempt to reset my pass, I'm receiving password reset emails for users that aren't mine. I successfully changed the password for two different users, probably making them suffer the same problem as myself. Not sure how Skype picked those two users and decided they are me.
    So, I'm logged in, but can't change anything, or use some skype features.

    I managed to fix it myself by manally entering the code instead of clicking on the reset link. This way a list with all accounts that had my email was showed and I was able to select my user from the list.
    My email looks like a very popular typo.

    Hello!
    I registered an iCloud account for my iPad mini. My username is [email protected]
    The problem is I forgot the password. I asked for a password reset at iforgot.apple.com.
    I checked all of my e-mail accounts when I figured out the email adress for my iCloud account is the [email protected] As I told I don't know my password so I can't sign in to my iCloud email to reset the password.
    Please help me, because I restored my iPad and I can't activate it without sing in to iCloud.

    Did you set security questions? If yes, this might help you get in.
    Another place to look is in Keychain Access and in your Browser settings.
    Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities.
    Select Login keychain in the top right.
    You can enter iCloud in the top search box but you can also scroll through the list looking for the entry.
    If you see the blue circle with @, select. Double click to open
    You'll see the actual account listed so you'll know if it's the correct one.
    Check the box to show password.
    Enter your Login password for your User.
    You'll see the password.
    You might need to check several entries.
    In Safari, go to Preferences > Passwords.
    Check box to Show passwords.
    Select the icloud.com site
    Click on the password to view after entering your Login password for User.
    If you used FireFox or Chrome, you would need to look in their preferences for the password.
    TIP: When you can get in, add multiple recovery emails to the account. Write down your password and recovery emails and keep in a safe place. I recommend 1Password  http://agilewebsolutions.com/products/1Password
    I use a lot of fake answers and it's hard to remember so I keep these in secure notes in 1Password.
    Tip: when Yosemite is released you might see 1Password on sale. It's not cheap but worth every penny.

    Not being able to access your account would certainly make placing an order difficult, so I can imagine how anxious you must feel to find a resolution.
    I was able to locate your account using the e-mail address you used to register for the forum and believe I found the cause of the problem. I've addressed that issue and have reset your BestBuy.com account's password, so please make sure to keep an eye on both your inbox and junk mail folders for a password reset notification. When you sign back in, please do the following in order:
    Log out of your BestBuy.com account completely on all devices, including the My Best Buy app
    Delete your browser history, cache, and cookies
    Visit the password reset link in your email (please be sure to check your spam folder)
    Create a new password that fits the accepted criteria (use a password you’ve never used before)
    Logout of your account as it will log you in automatically after creating the new password
    Wait 5-10 minutes and then attempt to login to your account

    My scenario wants an automated process where the users can reset their own password. Do you know if the user password reset on the logon page is a automated process? Does the email with password go directly to the user or the email goes to the administrator and then the administrator has to reset the password? Do I need to configure the SMTP in my client system for this? If so can you give the steps involved for configuring SMTP?
    I have configured SMTP server by logging as Administrator in portal -> System Admin -> Sys Confgiruation ->
    Universal Worlist & Workflow -> Engine and gave the notification email as 'JavaMail'.
    The again portal -> System Admin -> Sys Confgiruation ->
    Universal Worlist & Workflow -> Email edit it gave the Host name as my SMTP mail server name. I checked my mail server through telner <mail server> 25 and it is opening in command prompt. Am I missing anything here in SMTP configuaration. Fileds like Pop3 User and Pop3 Password I wanted to leave as blank but when I click save in Portal , it self add some encrypted values.
    can Anybody has done the above scenario.Its urgent.
    I have read on help.sap.com and it looks like it sends an email to administrator and then the administrator resets the user password. Is my understanding correct on the above.
    Can anyone provide me a step by step approach on the same.
    Suitable answers will be rewarded definitely.

    May be Mohinder did not copy paste properly.
    Password reset task with option to select repository seems to be coming from many ppl. Will you be able to create a blog with details on how to achieve this, as it is your idea in 1st place?

    Based on my known, I'm afraid that there is no way to reset expired password if your Outlook client computers not joined to the domain.

    When I submit a password reset request on iCloud.com the site does not deliver the password reset instructions to the email address.  Apple, any ideas?

    We're only users here, Apple does not participate.
    Check your junk mail folder.  Or perhaps the email that you originally defined for sending icloud resets to is no longer active.

    I tried to reset my password following these instructions

    But when I clicked on Change Password , It would only let me type in the Old Password. I was unable to click on the New Password boxes, unable to type anything in them. Couldnt even use TAB key to move to them. Im running Windows XP Pro in case its relevant. I've never ever had problems selecting and typing in a text window like that before.
    I ended up having to submit a lost password email reset even though I still knew my old password. So that worked and I was able to reset my password and log in that way.
    But I just thought I should post to let Skype know that their method for resetting new password didnt work.

    Restart the computer with the Option key held down and see if a padlock appears on the screen; if so, you will need to provide the firmware password, an the C key shortcut is disabled. If not, insert the DVD, push the button with the curly arrow, click on the DVD, and then the button with the straight arrow.

    Do I have to delete the keychains and start over if so, how do I do this?
