Password Trouble

I recently bought my iBook G4 and have been desperately trying to add it to my wireless network of PCs...
I'm very new at all this Mac stuff so please bare with me if this is something very simple I have missed in setup.
When I start the Network Setup Assistant I type my computer's name in, then select "I use AirPort to connect to the internet wirelessly"
Then When I come to selecting my wireless network to join it asks me for my password, in which I enter my WEP key...
The computer then informs me that my password is invalid.
PLEASE help me - I have gone into my router settings and checked the key so I know it must be the right one!!!
If anyone can help me I'll be forever in your debt.

what type of wireless router are you using and what encryption mode are you using?

I'd personally recommend using WPA2 with TKIP-AES encryption.

Keychain password trouble

I've been having trouble with the Keychain Password when I use Safari. When I open the browser it will pop up twice before it goes away but will come back randomly while I'm using Safari. I've tried entering every password I can think of but nothing seems to be the correct one. I've gone in to the Utilities folder and opened up the Keychain Password app. and tried to change it but without the current password I get no where.
Is this something I can fix? Or am I stuck with it?

Your system password and keychain password ought to be the same. If they are different, and you don't know the keychain password, then you won't be able to access your keychain file. In that event, the only remedy is to start-over. You do that by first going to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Keychains folder. Inside, move to the trash the login.keychain file.
Next, open Keychain Access. File Menu>New Keychain - name it login. Then, go to the Keychain Menu>Keychain First Aid. Select "repair".
Restart Safari. In Safari you'll start seeing prompts for web sites requiring user name/password. Select "yes" on the password panel prompt to accept the password. You'll begin building your keychain file again. You'll see the same type of password request if you use Apple's Mail program for e-mail. You'll need to enter your system password again on the password prompt panel.
In Safari, after you have entered a few passwords, go back to my last post and follow those directions.

Apple ID changing password trouble with getting email

so, my itunes has been getting something popping up on it about not working and to try later or something so it made me a little nervous so i wanted to change my password. I went to change my password but couldnt remember my security questions so i hit the line that said email me my security questions and ive tried it about 5 times and its been an hour and i still havent got an email so i cant change my password? and yes it is the right email entered on my apple ID. im not sure what to do from here and im not sure if there is a number i should call for help about it.

SQL Plus / Oracle - Username and Password Troubles

I have just download Oracle Database 10g Express Edition for Linux.
When i use the command 'connect' with SQL Plus i am required to enter a username ans password.
What is the default username and password, or where can i find it?

1. If you installed the express edition, there is another step. Go to your GUI menu->Oracle->Documentation. Those names are not exactly right, but you should be able to figure them out from that
2. You are missing a post install step which the install documentation will tell you from step 1. If it is a regular Linux, you drop to a terminal and type something like "database configure". Look at the install documentation, it will tell you.
3. Do you have Apache running? You need a web server for the Oracle web interface to work
4. The error message you got means exactly what it says. That being said, you can also get this error message when the database is running. If you do, it is because you forgot to include a connection on you command:
connect sys/manager@xe
OR
connect sys/manager@localhost:1521Since you don't know the passwords, I assumed you did not run the configure step above since it asks for the password when you run it.

If yo uinstalled it, you needed to provide a password. Use that.

Password troubles

Locked out of my phone. Entered a new password and forgot it. Tried to enter it too many times and now phone is disabled saying to connect to itunes. I connected to itunes and still can't get in. Any suggestions?

If the security is WEP u need to put the dollar sign ($) before typing the security key.

Mail and Password Troubles. No good.

I changed my Gmail password and now both my macbook and ipod will not accept the new password to sign in in Mail. I am 100% sure I'm entering them correctly, and I can sign in on a browser just fine. They tell me the "imap server" is incorrect. Please. Help.

I am having this same issue. I'd like to be able to access shared mailboxes on the exchange server through Mail. I used Entourage and set up the accounts as delegates and it worked just fine. But I hate Entourage and would rather not have to open it just to read from the shared mailboxes.

ICloud account password trouble

since my icloud account is not working.
cant delete account as it dosn't like my password - it uses my old apple ID and non of the passwords i ever used works

Follow the instructions below to resolve your issue:
1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID, and sign on with your current Apple ID and password: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
2.     Change your Apple ID to the old ID that the iCloud account is using. This is a temporary change so you do not need to worry about verifying it.
3.     Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll to the bottom and click on Delete Account. When it asks for your password, type in your current password. It should then let you delete the iCloud account.
4.     Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to your current ID.
5.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with your current Apple ID and password.
You should be all set.

Password trouble with time capsule

Hello,
i just decided to replace my base station and external had with a new (refurb) time capsule and have run into a little problem. 1st, go ahead a point and laugh if the answer is in front of my face. Ok, here goes. I set up everything to replace the old drive and the internet/wireless is fine, but wheni try to configure time capsule, I am prompted for the password for the new one. During setup, everything just migrated, but the password isn't working. I checked keychain, did a soft reset, looked at the password in airport utility, and it still is not working. During the setup I was never prompted to enter a password, to my memory, and in the keychain, the password is the same as what I am entering.
Without ithout starting all over, any suggestions?

Before you try a complete reset, try a "soft" reset.
Simply press the reset button for 1 second and release. If the TC is working correctly, now you have a few minutes of free access to go in and change the base station password and the wireless if needed.
Click the Base Station tab to change the base station password and the Wireless tab to change the wireless password.
If that does not work, then you have to reset back to factory default settings and set up the device again. I would suggest that you use different device names , different wireless network names and different passwords for the new setup.
You can delete the settings in KeyChain Access if you want to try to erase the old passwords.

G5 w/MAIL issues, dropping passwords, trouble sending.

I have a G5 10.5.8 with MAIL issues. Have had the same settings for years and it has suddenly started dropping my passwords (randomly asking for passwords); blocking outgoing messages (have to send 3-5 times); All settings are the same. I have the correct ports and SSL. Nothing has changed except periodic upgrades. I've erased and reset the keychains – to no avail.
Got any ideas?

Some questions:
Which version of office were you using before? 2003?
Are the data files on a network, or on your local machine? If they are on a network, can you make a copy of one of them on your local machine and try again?
Can you open the files directly in Excel? What extension do they have (.xls, or something else?) I am wondering whether access to other file types has been left blocked on your machine but is allowed on your colleague's machine.
Are you just opening the mail merge main document and seeing this message? If so, do you see the same thing if you start with a new document and try to connect to one of these data sources?
Can you confirm that the message is about Access even though you are trying to connect to an Excel file?
(Also, office 2007 has some new stuff - that let's you specify that certain folders are "trusted" . I don't think that ever affected MailMerge but it may be as well to make sure that your documents and data sources are in trusted locations).

How to resolve a User password trouble ?

Icloud user name/password trouble

Ever since I downloaded iOS 7.0, my iPhone and iPad won't accept my iCloud password. iCloud is using my e-mail address as my Apple ID, but my Apple ID is NOT my e-mail address, and I can't find anywhere to change it back to what it's supposed to be. And when I type in my password, it gets rejected. Any idea what to do??

Email/ Password trouble

I have a bit of a problem.
After I had trail version of Outlook 2013, I have decided to download entire Microsoft Office 2013. Outlook is my number one tool in my job and I have big problem with it.
When I open an Outlook and go to very last function on a ribbon called Send/Receive All Folders, it open a box that says " Synchronizing all the folders"- error occurred, can not connect to server. It wont let me synchronize any folders, emails...etc.
Also, box pops up asking me to enter my email and password but it wont save and it keeps coming back.
Can anyone tell what to do?

Hi,
Which type of email account are you using? POP3, IMAP or Exchange?
We can follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Start Outlook in safe mode to check the result. If problem is gone in safe mode, go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable suspicious add-in to resolve the problem. If problem persists, try step 2.
2. Please go to File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings > highlight your email account and click
Change > verify you have entered the right password for your account > click Next... If the problem still persists, please try step 3.
3. Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager > Windows Credential and remove the entry related to your problematic account. Restart Outlook and enter the credential again to check the
result.
4. If above not working, try to create a new mail profile in Control panel and set up your email account in the new profile to check the result. See:

Password trouble (G5)...can anyone help?

I recently bought a G5, but didn't realise until trying to copy a hardrive worth of music plugins that it has a password. The previous owner doesn't remember what it is, and worse he doesn't have the original install discs that came with it.
Is there a way to reset without having to erase the entire drive?

Changing password from single user mode:
You can also change the administrator's password from single user mode or create a new administrator account.
You need to get into single use mode for steps one and two that are listed below.

Basically, you hold down the command-s key when powering on. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think.
1) You can change the password on an account. ( Do you know Unix. You are in a Unix single user console. ) The commands you need should be listed on the screen. For Mac OS 10.4.11, the commands are:
# Type the follow two instructions to accessing the startup disk in read/write:
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
# Start up some utility processes that are needed.
sh /etc/rc
# You will probably need to press the enter key once the system stops typing.
# To find out the users on the system type, use the list command:
ls /Users
# One of these accounts will be the administrator.
# Pick one of the users and type:
passwd a-user-name
# and enter the new user password. You need six characters.
# You will need to enter your password twice. Your typing will not show up on the screen just
# press enter when you complete the typing.
# For cryptic information on these commands try:
man ls
man passwd
The root account isn't enabled by default. I am not sure if changing the password on root will enable it.
2) Get the Mac to set up an additional administrative account. You can then change the password on your old account.

OK, restart your computer, hold down Command-s and type in the following:
/sbin/fsck -y [Enter]
/sbin/mount -uaw [Enter]
rm /var/db/.applesetupdone [Enter]
# The rm command is the remove command which deletes the file.

reboot [Enter]
Once you've done that the computer reboots and it's like the first time you used the machine. Your old accounts are all safe. From there you just change all other account passwords in the account preferences!!

Apple ID Password Trouble...

I can't remember the password to my Apple ID, and its connected to an old email that doesn't exist. I've tried to send an email to myself, but it has not worked. When I tried to answer the security questions, my birthday was wrong. I don't know what else to do, and I'm going to lose a significant amount of my library since I bought a new laptop. Thanks for any help!
