Password unknown

HI,
I just bought a macbook air.
While setting it up, I should have done something wrong.
As a consequence, I have a macbook air with an unknown password.
How can I reset it even if it erase all datas ?
Thanks for your support.
JEFF

Restart with the Option key held down, tab to the recovery drive, press Enter, reset the password if possible, and if it isn't, use the Disk Utility to erase the drive and install a new OS.

  • Apps password unknown

While running fndcpass to change passwords for a new clone, the apps password somehow was set to an unknown value. I know the old apps password, but am not able to successfully connect to the database with it. (I can connect with that password to the production environment which is the source for the clone.)
We have a custom script that runs fndcpass. (This was my first time using this script and creating a clone.) It makes a copy of fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid tables. The first time I ran it, it errored. So ... I ran it again (and over-wrote fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid). I then learned fndcpass should be run from the database server - I was on the apps server. So ... I ran it on the database server. It got to a certain point in the script and the script stopped. (I later learned this happens due to an error in the script and that one simply needs to enter the password again - but I didn't know that.) Somewhere in here the apps account became locked - I unlocked it. Now I am unable to run fndcpass because the apps password is unknown.
Does it have anything to do with the values in fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid? If so, can I get obtain the data for those two tables from the current production database? (The clone datafiles are from 1/27/10 and today is 3/1/10). If the issue is unrelated to fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid data, how can I set the apps password? (Oracle documentation insists that one should not use 'alter user' to reset the apps or applsys passwords.) I'm trying to avoid starting the clone over. I welcome any suggestions on how I can resolve the issue with the unknown apps password.

    Hi,
So ... against the recommendation of Oracle, I decided to issue an 'alter user' and change the password. Then I get the following error when running FNDCPASS: 'FNDCPASS was not able to decrypt password for <module/user> during applsys password change.' Do not use the alter command to change the password as this is not supported.
So ... then I decided I would try exp/imp the FND_USER and FND_ORACLE_USEID data from production. However, I get the following error when exporting the FND_USER data from production: 'EXP-00003: no storage definition found for segment(407, 25131).'
At this point I think I am throwing in the towel and going to start the clone over. Am new to Forum and didn't see answer in FAQ ... how do I close this?I believe this is the right approach to do for now. Once you are done with the clone, please make sure you take a backup of the two tables on the cloned instance before changing the apps password using FNDCPASS.
To close the thread, just mark it as answered.

    Hussein

  • Sys & system passwords unknown

I installed 9i on my home computer for personal, educational use. SYS and SYSTEM passwords were changed, but now are lost. Do I need to uninstall & reinstall the database in order to correct the problem?

If your sysman account keeps getting locked(timed), could it be something with a profile setting you have? I'm not that familiar yet with 11g, but I know in 10g the default profile has FAILED_LOGIN_ATTEMPTS set for will lock after 10 unsuccessful login attempts.
Is perhaps your OEM attempting to use a wrong password and continues to connect until it locks the account?
Or perhaps there is a default password_life_time (expire_time).

  • Deleting iCloud account - password unknown

My daugther got an iPad from her school, but the previous user is still logged into her iCloud account.
I can't use the Delete Account since I obviously des not know the password and I don't know who had it before
    Any help?

You could try Restoring iOS software which will erase all of the iPads contents
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
However, it would be best to let the school's IT person handle this problem. The iPad should have been erased and reconfigured prior to giving it to your daughter.

  • Admin password unknown

Hello HP Forum,  I'm helping out a friend who has created some problems with her G62-457 DX notebook (windows 7). She doesn't know where her recovery disks are. I can access my guest account but not the admin account (password forgotten).  The guest account doesn't have security software and I can't install it without the admin password.
I also looked into the recovery manager (drive D), but can't do anything without the admin password.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Using another PC, download the application on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
    PC Login Now
When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder and double-click the installer - this will result in another file appearing which is the disc image ( .ISO ) that you need to burn to a blank CD.
You will now need to use an application such as ImgBurn to burn this ISO correctly to a blank CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
When the disc has been created, shutdown the notebook you can't log-in on, tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up Menu, insert the CD, select Boot Options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter - you may also have to 'Press any key' to boot from the CD if asked.
Follow the instructions on the guide Here to remove the current Admin password.

  • Is there such a thing as a default administrator password?

I've searched these forums & elsewhere but haven't seen anything quite like this. My parents' new iMac was set up by someone else several months ago & I am visiting them for the first time since.
Things generally work OK but they find that occasionally they are prompted for a password to update the keyboard's firmware, for example, but then their administrator's password (which works otherwise for software updates) won't work for these prompts. In poking around their iMac I also discovered that some portions of System Preferences also seem to have a mystery password (unknown to any of us). For example, the security settings & the password settings can't be changed without this mystery password. I'm pretty sure that they didn't do anything or set a firmware password; I'm also pretty sure that the guy who set up their iMac wouldn't have done anything like this. He was pretty careful to leave printed out password & hint instructions for them. This is why I am wondering if there is some "factory default" administrator password or something that we've overlooked.
Does fixing this require using the installation disk to reset the administrator password, or is there something else that I should be doing or looking for?
Thanks so much for any advice you may have!

First Enable the root user account:
To enable the root user account:
Open System Preferences and click Accounts.
If the lock icon is locked, unlock it by clicking it and entering the name and password of an administrator.
Click Login Options, then click Join or Edit.
If you see an Edit button, your computer has at least one connection to a directory server.
    Click Open Directory Utility.
Choose Edit > Enable Root User.
    Next:
change the root user account password:
Choose Edit > Change Root Password.
When prompted, enter the new root password in the Password and Verify fields.
    Click OK.
    Next:
Choose Edit > Disable Root User.
    Close directory Utility.
If it won't allow you to execute the above instructions, then your account may not have
    any administrator privileges.
