Password wallet reinstall Q

Hi:
My son has a curve 9360. A while ago he downloaded a trial of password wallet. I guess the trial was up & he could not longer access it & needed in so he bought the app..
When he tried to install the paid version, he had trouble downloading it.
I suggested he delete the entire thing & redo the install. He's afraid to lose his passwords currently in it.
My question is: would it not retain that info. if here were to uninstall, & reinstall?

After some more experimentation tonight, I have finally found a "workaround" to allow multiple user accounts on the same computer to successfully access the Password Wallet's data file!
Here's the trick/workaround:
(1) Create a group account (say "PasswordWalletGroup") whose members are the different user accounts that you want to access Password Wallet's data file (so, in my case I added myself and my wife into this group); &
(2) Give that group Read/Write access to the data file (via "Finder", select the data file, select "Get Info", and go to the section on "Sharing & Permissions" & simply add the group name & modify the privileges to "Read & Write").
Now, each user account in that group will be able to access Password Wallet's data file and can modify it. The Password Wallet application will still reset the permissions so that the last user account modifying the file will become the "owner" (Me) BUT the above group workaround will somehow trick the application. Thus, the next different user account that accesses it will be successful and the goofy application will again reset the permissions to let this account be the owner but the group permission will allow others to still access the data file.
It's clear that the Password Wallet application is doing something funky with the file permissions. Perhaps, it's a "file locking" scheme or something. The application clearly wants to reset the permissions so that the only user account with read/write access is the account that last modified the file. However, the workaround above somehow fools the application and allows multiple user accounts to access the data file (sequentially, of course, not simultaneously).

How can I set the file permissions correctly on "Password Wallet's" file so that multiple people on the same Apple MacBookPro running Leopard (MAC OS 10.5.x) can access it read/write?
Yes, I've already run this question by Selznick Software (Password Wallet's developer) and got nowhere.
Here's the problem/symptoms that I am experiencing:
I installed "Password Wallet" and started using it under my userid/account (Toni). Everything worked fine. I adjusted the file permissions on Password Wallet's data file to allow my wife to access it under her userid/account (Mel). She logged onto her account and accessed it just fine. Then, I re-logged onto my account (Toni) and CANNOT access it because somehow her access removed my read/write permissions from the file.
I've tried the same experiment several times now. The result is always the same. After getting the Password Wallet data file setup with read/write for wife and read/write for me while logged onto my account (with administrative privileges), then if another user account (wife's) accesses it, then the access control lists are mysteriously changed (my read/write access control is gone, my wife's is the only remaining read/write access).
I have only done this experiment and reset the access the control settings via the GUI interface. Somebody at work suggested I enter terminal mode and use the command line methods (UNIX commands like chmod). Although, I know how to run these types of commands, I have no idea what access control settings I need to enter on the chmod command line to allow multiple users to have read/write access to the PasswordWallet data file.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

The profiles are stored in the
'''C:\Users\*yourname*\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles''' folder (or '''Documents and Settings''' instead of appdata in XP) not in the Windows folder. Unless you've saved it or want to try some recovery software (if it hasn't been overwritten) then it's gone. Sorry.

Restoring Keychain Passwords When Reinstalling OS

I have keychain passwords enabled across all my devices - iMac running Mavericks, and iPad and iPhone running ios7. I chose not to set up a security code as I did not want my passwords stored in the Cloud.
My question is: if I need to completely reinstall my OS, or choose to do a clean install of a future update to OS such as Yosemite, how do I restore my keychain passwords without a security code?

Thanks for your response, PJRS, but if I were to do a clean install of, say, Yosemite I would almost certainly choose not to migrate my users from a TM backup. I would prefer to reinstall all my software from scratch and only restore data files from Time Machine (most are held on an external disk anyway). Could I still restore Keychain passwords from Time Machine in this instance (and if so where would I find them)?

I replaced an old airport extreme with a new one. None of my wifi devices will connect - always say incorrect password. Reinstalled old device, works fine. Any ideas?

I have a 5 year old airport extreme. I bought a new one to upgrade for better range. I connected the new one to the internet with a few problems, but a phone call to my internet provider resolved them. With an ethernet cable from the new airport extreme to my iMac, I'm connected. However, none of my wifi devices will connect. They see the network, but it either says "incorrect password" if I'm trying a new network name and password, or it repeatedly asks me to reenter the password if I use the old ones. I reinstalled my old airport extreme and everything works fine. I'm about ready to box up the new one and return it. Any ideas?

It is extremely difficult to fix these issues.. remotely.
If none of your wifi devices work.. that does sound unusual..
Have another try.. This time deal with the COMPUTER only.. leave everything else turned off.
Unplug the Extreme from the router.. reset it to factory.. do this full setup.
Unplug power from the Extreme.. hold in the reset button.. plug in the extreme to power and keep holding in the reset.. 10sec or so the front led should flash rapidly.. release the reset and wait a couple of min.
Now in the computer does the Airport extreme show up under wifi as new device??
Please make sure IPv6 is set to link local only to go further but it should work no matter what the settings are.
No luck clear out all the old wireless names from the computer.. reboot the computer and try again to scan for new wireless devices.
Hold the reset and try again.. it must appear in the wifi to be setup.
No sign of it the unit is faulty and can be returned.

Client Security - Password Manager reinstalling

Hello all,
       For an unknown reason, I have been experiencing this problem over and over. Whenever I restart my computer and open a new explorer window, windows installer pops up with CSS trying to install the password manager. No matter how many times i let it install, it occurs every time. In addition, I keep receiving the 3 Chrome Registration Failed messages when starting firefox because the program continues to try and install the Think Vantage password manager, even when I try to cancle it. Appreciate any help.

I experienced the same issue with IE 7 on Vista Ultimate SP1 after installing the packages referred to in Microsoft KB950124 and KB950125.
The following procedure worked for me:
1.       Run IE7 as Administrator.
2.       After completion of the CSS-Password Manager installation, restart the PC.

Desktop Msgr - connection password on reinstall

Hi - hope someone can help. I had two months of trouble-free operation and syncing with my HP laptop and BB 8330 Curve, all was well until I had to send the laptop in for hinge repair... well the service people also re-imaged my computer too. (Gee thanks) Meanwhile my BB is still getting email and functioning fine with the programs I loaded prior to this. BUT - I would like to connect it back to the desktop manager too.
So loaded the install disk and connected the BB via USB, it sees it but asks me for a password. I put in the PW that does work to unlock the BB, but it does not recognize it. What should I do - I've tried 6 times and don't want to wipe the device!!

OpenWrt Lost Password? Reinstall Linksys?

I bought a router on ebay (Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz). I went to setup my wifi password etc by going to the ip address on my browser. With these routers, even if you don't know the password, you can reset them to default. However this one doesnt have the normal software on it, instead it has "OpenWrt Admin Console" displayed. I found out that this is some sort of third party software, but I couldn't seem to get anywhere without knowing the password (the ebay seller doesn't have the password either apparently). I held down the reset button on the router itself but it didn't change anything.
Is there a way to reset this router back to the normal Linksys software, or to reset the OpenWrt to where I can access the settings?
The router is unusable to me without the password lol

Did you try the reset button on the router to factory reset and see if the default OpenWRT password will work?

I was trying to set parental controls and somehow lost the abitlity to sign in as adminstrator. When I try to reset using my OSX CD, it says I need to install Rosetta before I can reinstall MacOSX. I say yes, but it asks for my administrator ID/password

Somehow lost my ability to login as administrator when i was trying to set up Parental Controls. Now it does not recognize my administrator name or password. Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

Database will not open after creating wallet

The wallet folder location is set in sqlnet.ora:

The solution is to set SQLNET.WALLET_OVERRIDE = FALSE, Then the database can now startup.
But then I password wallet does not work if this parameter is set to FALSE.

How can I reset a password

Hello. I'm new here so please bear with me. I have a similar question to the one posed on "Second Ownership Setup." I also have a second hand Mac that I purchased at auction. All of the previous owner's files have been deleted, but I cannot install any software without being asked to supply a password. Obviously, I can't do that.
Do I have to do a reinstall of the OS? While browsing eBay for OS X 10.3 software, I noticed a wide range in price for them. Is there something in particular I should be looking for?

If you have an install disk, you can change the password without reinstalling. See Mac OS X: Changing or resetting an account password. However, I suggest that you consider completely reformatting and erasing the HDD, then reinstalling the OS. In this way, you will be starting with a clean slate.

You should be looking for the Full Retail Version of Panther. Be sure to ask the seller whether it is the Full Retail Version, and not computer specific or grey disks, or an upgrade disk.

When you troubleshoot password recovery, pay attention to the following:
• You cannot determine whether password recovery has been disabled in the sensor configuration
from the ROMMON prompt, GRUB menu, switch CLI, or router CLI. If you attempt password
recovery, it always appears to succeed. If it has been disabled, the password is not reset to cisco.
The only option is to reimage the sensor.

Before recovering you can 1st check the current state of password recovery with using this command: show settings | include password
If you do password recovery without checking the recovery feature that it enabled or disabled than the password can not be set to cisco (It will show succeed) and you need to reimage the sensor. So, before using password recovery you should check that password recovery is allowed or not.

Can't login on skype with right username and password

Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

I am trying to reset my password by reinstalling Mac OS X but when I restart my computer and hold "C" nothing happens. I tried many times to hold it and see what happens but nothing does. I even held it for 2 hours straight...Please help!!!

I assume you are trying to boot from your cd. Push the C immediately after hearing the boot chime.
Alternatively push the option key immediately after hearing the boot chime to bring up the display of bootable volumes. Use the left/right arrows to chose the drive or cd and hit return.
