Password window for authentication times out...

Hey all, I tried to get some responses on this last year, with no success so I am trying again.
I have not been able to install software updates for many months. When I select "Install updates", my authentication [password] window pops up. I can not get a blinking icon in the password window, nor will it let me type. I just get the pinwheel and after about 8 seconds, the window closes.
I have tried rebooting, booting with startup disc, ctrl + apple + R + P reboot 3 times, etc.
Was told to install Snow Leopard and so I bought it today. BUT, to install it, yep, I need to enter my password which it will not allow me to do.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Could be many things, but it's best to start with these two steps, which may fix it also...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
Safe Boot... holding Shift key down at bootup. Safe Boot is a special way to start Mac OS X 10.2 or later when troubleshooting.

I found a solution to my problem via Google: <http://unsanity.org/archives/2007_01.php>. The problem the author describes sounds more or less exactly like the problem I was having. I followed his solution of deleting my var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase file, and everything seems to be going smoothly.

Performance tuning for a time-out dump

actually there is a following piece of code(a SELECT query) in my program,due to which TIME OUT dump occurs.plz help me to modify the code to reduce it's execution time.

Rarther going to appending go for into corresponding field of table at_seque.
Also check the primary key combination before selecting any data into where condition.
Remove that NE condition from where clause because some time it will take time to extract data. GO for delete statement into at_seque after select statement.
This will definitely work.

Downloaded ios 6 and when asked to login,password times out

Yesterday I downloaded the new IOS 6 to my phone (4S). Part of setup includes login with your apple id and password. When i enter my password, I get a time out error message. Please advise to fix. Thank you.

Having a passcode is good security should your phone be lost or stolen. Instead of removing the requirement for a passcode you might instead set it to be required less often.
In that same area of settings mentioned in the previous post you probably have the passcode lock set to immediately. This means that every time your phone sleeps a passcode will be required to open it again. This is the highest level of security.
But if you're like me the constant need to enter a passcode is undesirable. So I changed the setting to 1 hour. The passcode then will be required after one hour of idle time on the phone. I rarely go an hour without using my phone so I don't have to enter a passcode every time I wake up the Phone. Only after long periods of inactivity do I need to enter the passcode. For me that's a good compromise.

This forum is for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Since that version won't run on your PowerMac, you're not likely to get many helpful responses here.
In any case, I'll try to offer some basic troubleshooting suggestions:
The PS designation on your printer denotes the PostScript printer language. Is your applications software and current printer driver configured to send PostScript (or HP-GL or HP-PCL or ???)
Does ANY application print anything (even gibberish) to the printer?

Does the printer time-out with every program, or just one? Have you tried another cable?
OS X 10.5 Leopard is no longer sold by Apple. It was never sold as a download, sold only on CD/DVD disc. Discs might still be available for purchase on eBay.
OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" is the oldest version of OS X still sold by Apple, and it too is available ONLY on CD/DVD for $20, but it will not run on your PowerMac, because Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor: os x snow leopard requirements

How is the printer connected to the computer? Are you using a USB interface, a Centronics 'Parallel' interface, or a JetDirect network interface?
It appears that the network timeout default for the printer was 30 minutes, but it can apparently be set in the range of anything 30-seconds and longer. The manual notes that some software does not send an 'end of job' postscript marker, so that is the reason for the time-out setting.

Speedport time out fail wireless

I am connected to ethernet port, no problem.
AirPort fails to connect. Now Windows with two local machines connect ok. My previous Dell connected.
My AirPort works at home, a Bell Modem.
SpeedPort W 700 V seems to have some issues for Win.
The SpeedPort does not reply giving time out same as incorrect password.
I tried a manual connect with full name from my AirPort detection script.
Also problem with iTouch, but it failed to reconnect at home after upgrade to new software.

SpeedPort W 700 V is both wireless and wired. I am connected to wired now.
When disconnected, the wireless shows on AirPort and asks for password. Entering password gives a time out. I tried a manual connection with network name WLAN-4A7D03 selected security type and entered password. Again a time out. The SpeedPort fails to handshake on receiving the password. That is, I do not think the password accepted reply is connecting. My AirPort works on other wireless connection in Canada. I am in Germany and the SpeedPort modem is a few years old, but I had no trouble with my new Dell windows Vista last year.
This could be a SpeedPort issue. I know the SpeedPort wireless is working because two Windows computers are connected to the wireless. I did find reports of some Windows machines having difficulty connecting to SpeedPort but no comment on Apple problems.
By the way thank you for answering. I will be traveling in Italy where most hotels only have wireless connections. So I am trying to isolate problem to SpeedPort. If it is my use of AirPort then I have a problem. If necessary I could buy a USB port wireless.
I do know update of my iTouch has crashed its wireless connection. I tried reset to orignial but it then automatically upgrades and I am back where I started.
These are my first Apple products so I may be missing something. The more I use the Apple Interface the more I like it.

Session time out in Application server -reg

We have Oracle Application server 10g in cluster mode in our organization. We are using Oracle Forms and Reports . But there is one issue. If the user keeps the screen idle for more than 20 min the system gets timed out and requires sdba authentication . We actually increased the time out value. But we could not able to remove sdba authentication. Our aim is to remove authentication after session time out. It is ok even if the application completely closes and comes out of the screen. But the user must not be asked to enter sdba credentials after system is idle for the time out period.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Session time out in a web application

Hi,
I am making a struts based web application. For session time out validation I have made an entry in the web.xml file as <session-config>
<session-timeout>1</session-timeout>
</session-config>
In case the user's session time out occurs then he should be directed back to the log in page.
Can any one tell me how to proceed in this case and what are the best practices.

I do think that you must have the
<session-config> tag present though for the setMax... method to
work, observe that this method is for seconds and not millisecond

I try to manage by my application the http session time-out.
Change it in a web.xml works fine , but if in my servlet i try
to change it using setMaxInactiveInterval(MILLISECOND) the result
is that the session became invalidate after few seconds instead

Hello;
On middleware the default should be 3600 seconds.
To change :
Login to the WebLogic Administration Console
Under domain structure click Deployments
Click on the "em" Enterprise Application
Click on the Configuration Tab
Set "Session Timeout (in seconds):" to 7200 ( or whatever you want )
Hit the Save button to save your changes in the deployment plan
I would make sure an idle timeout in not set in the database profile as well.

Changed to WPA2 - PC times out on auth - how do I fix this?

I upgraded the security setting on my router yesterday to WPA2 and reconnected four computers/devices to the network using the new settings.
The fifth machine keeps getting as far as Authenticating with the network and then times out.
This machine is a Dell PC and the wireless network is managed by the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility. The diagnostic log shows every one to three minutes that it is
Connecting to my network
Using "WPA-PSK" authentication mode
Driver status - "Key exchange"
Supplicant status - "Authenticating"
Authentication time-out.
Any idea why this might be occurring, and what I can do to get the connection to stay active/connected and successfully authenticate?

Are you certain the PC is using WPA2? Have you tried to update the wireless drivers maybe its a known issue and is fixed in a later driver. Are you certain you are using the correct key?
