Password won"t save in account info

I have a Verizon email address that requires a password to send mail. When I enter the password under the advanced settings it will not save. the save settings option does not come up. The password is correct. it sjust won't save. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Rick

Not sure what you mean. For starters, the Preferences > Accounts > Advanced settings are for the incoming server, whereas you appear to be saying that you have sending problems. The outgoing server settings are in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings...

  • Passwords Won't Save. Outgoing Server Changed to GMail?

None of my three POP mail accounts work now. The password text box field won't save any passwords and I see the word for GMail something (outgoing server?) appearing here and there although I never intended or directly did anything that would put GMail as one of my Mail Accounts.
Note: I saw an older post, 4 years old, about this but thought I'd post again since it was Archived and it's "solution," rather drastic (i.e. delete Mail preferences) and even after I did that the problem continued.
I was able to use Time Machine to get my Mail preferences back and did have clear copy of Email Settings...but it seems now I'm back to Ground Zero: what's my username, password, Authentication, etc. and the old settings I have are not working.
I'm wondering if this is linked to recently trying a Safari Extension for Google Toolbar (now uninstalled)?
Whatever...I'd like my Mail back and for it to remember Passwords and have the correct outgoing server.

Two weeks later (after post, above)
I Solved the Problem - I reinstalled Mac OSX 10.6.6 (It was rather painless)
My Mail is working again. Safari now also again remembers passwords.
Also, my Aperture's Mail export also works. (Mail is no longer grayed out).

  • Password won't save after iOS 6.1 update

I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.1 and now imessage won't save my password. After the update, I kept being asked to enter my Apple ID password.  Each time I would enter the password and 30 seconds later the dialog would pop up again.  After entering it one time I quickly navigated to Settings and discovered that my AppleID password was missing from Messages.  I entered it there and that stopped the dialog box from popping up.
Later I had to shut down and restart my phone so iTunes would recognize it.  After it booted up the recurring Apple ID dialog box started popping up again.
How can I stop this from happening?

I'm unfortunately in exactly the same situation. Following update to 6.1 on my iPhone 5, I'm prompted every 10 seconds to enter my iTunes password if I re-enable iMessage logged in as my iTunes account rather than phone number.
I have not found a way to make it stop prompting so iMessage is currently not useable by me.  This is quite frustrating, Apple's standards have been on a rapid decline for some time. I'm at the point now where I'm reluctant to install updates when they come out due to the frequent regressions such as this I've encountered.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to know.

  • Email password won't save after Yahoo hack

Opened my Mail inbox and got the wonderful mass of "MAILER @DAEMON" messages. Translation:I got hacked. I haven't had any problems with this since I changed my Yahoo/ATT password to something more complex. Now I'm being hacked again, went in to my account on my iPhone and found that it had reverted to the former password. Entered the new password, got the check marks, but it won't save--it reverts to the old password. I've tried this multiple times, I've tried rebooting multiple times, deleting the account and restoring it multiple times. Now I'm finding that my iPad has the same problem. So I am totally without mobile email now, and like so many of you this just ain't an option.

I Have a similar problem but 9 different emails have been hacked along with my iPhone. I am now on my 3rd new iPhone as Apple thinks this is the issue (I wish). it has become so bad the police dept have become involved and are bringing in the local FBI office since email hacking is a felony and 9 different accts are involved. I do have a good idea of the suspect (s) sadly not who I expected. Someone said to change my phone number to make sure they did not have it and this would help. Think it would?

  • Password won't save in mail

I have 3 email accounts that I typically sync....my me.com mail is fine...can send and receive and the password is saved. the other 2 accounts no matter what I do it prompts for a password! set it up in the mail accounts and when I go back in it's blank! I also click to add it to my keychains...and still asks for it EVERY time. any ideas? I'm just about ready to roll back to BEFORE snow leopard too!

well not sure what I did, but whatever it was it worked! lol

  • QuickVPN won't save connection info

I'm using QuickVPN 1.0.0.40 and it's connecting fine to my WRV54G router but it won't save the connection info.  If I enter the connection info and click Save, it says it did it, but if I exit and restart QuickVPN, the fields all come up blank.
On a different PC where it is working fine, I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it, and when I started it, all my old connection info was there.  So it's not stored in the Program files\Linksys\Linksys VPN Client directory - since that was removed when I unistalled.
Any ideas?  Having to reenter the IP address every time I start this is annoying.
    Thanks
    FredG

Hi… The info is saved by your OS. You might have disabled the auto save (save form) option that stores all the info you fill in on any form. You would need to enable that service. (Go to Internet Options || Contents | auto-complete settings)

  • Apple mail won't save outgoing server port...? Odd symptom.

Each time I close Mail, the SMTP port reverts to 25. I can enter a new port, but Mail won't save that port info. I have to re-enter after opening Mail each time.
    Symptom goes like this:
Open Mail, then when sending 1st message after opening app an error "cannot send mail using selected server" appears. I need to go into the settings & switch the port from the default port that is displayed (25), to 3535. After doing that & clicking ok, closing the window, the password dialog box appears & mail sends just fine. Every other message from that point will send.
Close Mail, then reopen. Have to repeat same process again.

  • Why can't I change my Nickname or Reviews/Ratings in iTunes Account Info Settings?

    Hello,
I was messing around some more in iTunes, and went to the iTunes store to change some of my Account Information.  I successfully changed my email and payment info under the heading "Apple ID Summary" ...but I had some issues editing my information in the "Settings" section.
I will explain what happened, or did not happen, briefly.  My question, for lack of more specific words, is, why will iTunes Store not follow through with these commands?
All follows in the iTunes Store > Account Information > Settings:
    1)  I clicked on the link "Edit Nickname" so I could change it to something more "mature" (as I made this name when I was about 17 years old).  This link took me to a different screen within iTunes Store, where I typed in my desired new Nickname in the appropriate space.  However, when I clicked "Submit," the screen simply did nothing.  No error message, no successful change, nothing at all...it just stayed the same.
    2)  I tried also to edit the "Reviews and Ratings" history by clicking on the "Manage" link.  This link also led me to a different screen, showing two ratings I had made for games/applications on my iPod touch.  I tried to click the "Remove" link next to each review.  Again, nothing happened...no message at all, the screen simply stayed the same.
Again, I appreciate any help.  Thanks!

    Apparantly not, and here is the extremely unhelpful reply from Apple support I recieved;
    From Support,
I understand that you want to change your nickname of your iTunes Store account. I am sure you are anxious at this time and I will do whatever I can to help you right away.
Jeff, you can change your iTunes Store billing information at any time. When you update your credit card number or billing address through the iTunes Store, any equivalent information you might use with MobileMe, iPhoto, Aperture, or the Apple Store online is also updated.
To update your billing address or credit card number, follow these steps:
    1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.
    2) Click this link:
iTunes will automatically launch and the sign-in dialog will appear.
    3) If you are not already signed in, you will need to enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click the Account Info button.
    4) On your Apple Account Information page, click Edit Payment Information
Make the necessary changes. Your billing address should be exactly the same as the address on your credit card statement and with the United States Postal Service (click "Find a ZIP Code" at http://www.usps.com and follow the onscreen instructions). This is important, because even differences in punctuation, abbreviation, and capitalization can cause payment errors that might prevent you from using the iTunes Store.
    5) When all of the information is up to date, click Done.
When you update your billing information, the iTunes Store places an authorization hold on your credit card to verify your account information. You might see this authorization request on your online statement. This is not an actual charge; it is simply a test to confirm that your credit card account is active and has credit available to accommodate transactions.
Authorization requests are automatically removed from your account by your financial institution. The amount of time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution. If you have any questions about the way your financial institution handles authorization requests, please contact their customer-service department.
I hope that you will find this information helpful. I will be glad if you let me know that my email reached you in a right spirit.
Our customers deserve the best and our aim is to ensure that each and every customer of Apple must be happy and satisfied. If you have any questions or concerns in future, please let us know so that we can help you better.
Thank you for being a part of iTunes family. We are glad to have you as our customer.
    Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
Now, tell me how that helps at all. They almost directly change the subject,....Jeff, we understand you need to change your nickname....next sentence is telling me how to change my billing.
Also, i went through the process of changing billing and other info, which of course, didnt do ANYTHING to help change the nickname.

  • I finally got my iphone out of recovery mode, after 7.1.1 but now it won't accept my Icloud info and states "An error occrured while trying to save the Icloud account?" What do I do????

I tried updating my iphone 4 to 7.1.1 and it went straight into recovery mode.... I finally got my iphone out of recovery mode, but now it won't accept my Icloud info and states "An error occrured while trying to save the Icloud account?" What do I do????

Same situation. I installed iOS 8 beta 4 on my iPhone 5 and a few days later my iCloud account disappeared. My contacts and calendar entries are gone.
My Mac Mini and MacBook do sync as they should with iCloud.
When I try to log in to iCloud on the iPhone (the username shows "[email protected]" and password shows "required"), I put in my username and password and tap "Sign In", It says "Verifying" at the top and after a while checkmarks appear next to my username and password. Then I get an error message saying "An error occurred while trying to save the iCloud account". If I tap OK the message goes away, leaving my username and password intact (checkmarks are now gone). If I tap "Sign In" again I get a message saying " '[email protected]' is Already Added. This iCloud account has already been added to your iPhone". If I go back to Settings and then go into iCloud again it's not set up and appears as I stated at the beginning of this paragraph.
Nothing works and the sync does not occur. Contacts are empty and Calendar has no entries.

Updated my AppleID account info.  Under password security shows an email address to be used to receive email with new password settings.  I need to update that email address, how do I do that?  Thanks!

Thanks for the help Niel.  I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions.  After numerous guesses, finally got them right.  Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info.  Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again.   Thanks for the fast response!!

  • Edited Account Payment Information Won't Save

I'm trying to buy Bad Piggies HD on my iPad2 and somehow I've entered an endless loop of password and account details verification:
    1. Click Buy App button in the App Store
    2. Verification Required Window appears, I click Continue button
    3. Apple ID Password Window appears, I successfully enter my password (without error or feedback)
    4. Account Window appears, Asks me to verify my payment information which requires changes, I make the changes and click Go button
    5. Account Window closes without error or any other kind of feedback
    6. Confirmation Required Window appears, asks me if I still want to buy Bad Piggies, I click Buy Button
    7. From here it loops back to step 2, endlessly...
It does a similar thing to me in the App Store on my Mac Mini, I log in, change the account details, it verifies them showing the updated payment details summary, then when I go back to edit them again it reverts all the payment details back to the original details.
The reason I'm changing my account details is that my friend bought an apple dev license with his credit card and his name on my Apple ID. This is the first time I'm making a purchase with my own credit card and name on my Apple ID and it won't save my changes. Why does the app store say "Welcome *name*" where the name is the billing information name and not the Apple ID name?
Could Apple make it any harder for customers to buy stuff from their store?

    Hi aljynxy,
I have a couple of articles for you that might help you deal with this issue. The first can be found here, and it will be basic information on changing the credit card information:

Help! Can't access iCloud (pics apps) even with correct password. Won't download my stored info on my new phone

That happens because photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, even though your last 1000 photo stream photos remain on your devices until deleted.  When you enabled photo stream on your iPod 4, you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.  If you want to stream these older photos to your new iPod, you will have to create a shared photo stream on your old one that contains these photos (requires iOS 6 or higher) and invite yourself as a subscriber, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
