Past Welcome

I have just bought a MacPro, turned it on, and can't get past the 'Welcome' screen! I've pressed Esc to get that highly irritating voice, turned it off and on again, but no way can I get past the Welcome. Any thoughts?
What a mistake buying an Apple!!

why did I buy one? wrote:

I know of the issue to which you refer but first I would like to point out something to you. This forum is visited by people who have problems they would like to solve as well as by people who like the Mac and like to help people with problems. It is not in very good taste to come here asking for help from those who like Macs but at the same time bad-mouth the Mac. You might consider that. It's kind of like "biting the hand that feeds you". Bad idea.

  • ITunes will not go past "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen after multiple attempts of restoring old data of iPhone 5s.

    Hello,
I'm really sorry if this is posted in the wrong place...
So just yesterday, I decided to update my iPhone 5s to the new iOS, 8.1.1 but I did not have any room on my phone due to most of the storage being taken up by "other". I backed up my phone onto iTunes and proceeded to restore the phone to its factory settings. Aftewards, the new iOS was presumably loaded onto my phone through iTunes. When my phone restarted, I clicked "Restore from this backup" and continued. It reloads again and I open my phone and went through the settings. When I got back to what I normally saw, all of the apps but one were gone. My backgrounds, contacts, and photos were there, but my music was gone. I looked back onto iTunes and the "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen was there again. I restored it to my back up once again, but to no avail. I can't get past the Welcome screen. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm afraid that if I restore again I'll lose the apps I reloaded onto my phone once again.

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Setting up imac cant get past welcome screen

I have just taken my beautiful new iMac out of its box and turned it on..but now can't get past the welcome screen.  Won't let me click continue ?  I havn't owned a Mac since 1994...so things have changed.  Thank you in advance.

Are you using a wired USB mouse and Keyboard?  If it's a bluetooth...
Are there batteries in the mouse? Is the mouse turned on?
    Same for the keyboard.

  • Can't get past "Welcome to Your New iPod" screen on iTunes!

I don't know how to get past the "Welcome to your new iPod" screen everytime I connect my iPod to my computer. Please help!

Same thing is happening to me. Its been happening for 2 1/2 weeks now. I think its because Itunes is down.

  • Can't get past "Welcome to Mail" screen

I have been trying to set up my Apple Mail account to access my Gmail account but find I can't get past the initial "Welcome to Mail" screen. When I click on the Mail Icon the screen that tells me I have no e-mail account and asks for the basic e-mail account info including the POP and SMTP address. The problem though is all the set up instructions I have require me to go through the "Preferences" from the Mail's pull down menu, but it, along with almost every other command, is greyed out when the "Welcome to Mail" screen is in the forefront.
I've tried filling in the info requested on the "Welcome to Mail" screen with my Gmail account info (and yes, I've set my Gmail account for POP mail) but Apple Mail can't connect to Gmail with the limited info provided.
So the question is how does one get past the "Welcome to Mail" screen to access the Preferences in the Mail program so I can fill in all the necessary information to get the Apple Mail to work?

The Account Setup “Assistant” is a pain, indeed. It’s unbelievable how lame that “feature” is. After setting up the first mail account, you can bypass it by holding the Option (Alt) key down when clicking the [+] button in Preferences > Accounts, but it appears to be unavoidable when setting up Mail for the first time. There are two things you can do about it, though:
    (1) Let it time-out. It may take a few minutes, but you can do other things with the computer in the meanwhile.
    (2) Shut down the Internet connection so that Mail times-out immediately, and go online again when done.

  • Photoshop/Premiere Elements 10 installed but won't run past Welcome screen

I bought and downloaded Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 for Windows 7 - 64 bit on Dec.31/11.  There were no error messages in the download, although the Akamai downloader screen didn't seem to show 100% before proceeding to the next step.  Everything appeared to install correctly (it's  a long process!).
At first, clicking on the desktop icons or the Start Menu list would bring up the Welcome splash screen, where the broad options (Organize, Edit, New Project) were shown.  However, clicking on these options had no effect at all.  Eventually even the Welcome screen wouldn't appear. I checked the Windows task manager and no applications were running.
I checked the shortcut properties and noticed that there was a separate executable in the target directory (eg. existing link was to "Adobe Premiere Elements 10.exe", but there was also a file called "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe"), which did run...however, I couldn't launch the Organizer from that program, and the "Home" link to the Welcome screen didn't function either.
With thousands of these programs being downloaded, I'm surprised that this serious glitch hasn't surfaced before.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

There are three different programs -- Photoshop Elements (PSE) which is for editing bitmaps, Premiere Elements which is for video editing, and the PSE Organizer which is for cataloging your media.
I don't like the sound of that Akamai downloader not registering 100%.
Uninstall all the Adobe products, reboot, and download the installation package again.  Check the Properties on that downloaded file and "Unblock" it if Windows has flagged it as "possibley harmful and coming from another computer" before starting the installation.

  • HT5622 i upgraded my ipad....now i cant even get it to go past welcome...help

i upgrated my ipad...now i cant even get pass welcome...help

I have the same problem.  I backed up my iPad and upgraded to the most current iOS.  After the upgrade finished, I connected to iTunes, when to File, Devices, Restore from backup.  After it finished the iPad rebooted, I saw a progress line going across my iPad and after it finished it went back into Welcome, Hello, then > slide to setup.  It keeps in this loop every time I try again.
If I hold down the on/off button and the home button it keeps going into the Welcome format when it reboots.
Does anybody know how to get my iPad working again?  Should I set it up as a new iPad then see if I can restore from my backup?  Will that work?
    Thanks

  • HELP! laptop wont load past Welcome and warranty out

I have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 Home OS. I have no repair disc/install disk as I bought it brand new with the OS already installed and ready to use.  I bought it in Fall 2011, so my warranty is out and I can't get help from Tech because they want to charge me just to talk to me over the phone without a warranty.
My laptop will load until the Welcome screen, and I have seen many posts already about this issue, however they are all able to load in Safe Mode and/or still have their warranty. I cannot load in Safe Mode. System Tune-up will not complete, stops halfway through as Failed, Startup and Run-in tests also fail. I already had problems back in March this year and had to restore to factory settings.
What boggles me most, is it was working fine until 2 a.m. this morning, when i stopped playing Fallout NV - was offline, have not connected it to internet for some months now. However, after the game I unplugged my laptop and took it upstairs and plugged it in in my room, and since then it hasn't worked. I can get to the boot options (Esc, F2, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12), but unable to do system repair due to no disc, and even though when I restored it to factory settings in March and made sure to do a Restore point at that time, the OS is not finding that restore point at all. It is not acknowledging any external hard drives I attach so I can do a new restore point. I don't want to just lose my photos - they are the only photos I have of my children (i think this is why most of us don't want to just restore to factory settings all over again).
Is there any way to do get it up and running again without losing literally EVERYTHING? I don't give a crap about the games or apps, those can all be installed from Steam later on again. But i don't want to lose my photos and baby vids and documents.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ree

    Hi Ree,
Here are a couple of methods you could try to back-up your existing data.
    1.  One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the process detailed in the link below.  The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ) and I've often found it to be successful in retrieving data even from a failing Hard Drive.  When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.

    2.  Another option would be to remove the HDD, place it in an external caddy - an example is on the link below - connect this to another PC and see if you can access your files.
    External HDD Caddy 2.5".

  • The Photos app won't go past welcome screen

I can't get my Photos app to actually load - I open the app, it gives me the option to go through the tour to explore the app, but when I click "Get Started," it gives me an infinite spinning grey wheel.  I've let it go for hours - still nothing.  The app won't load.  I've tried many times.  Anyone else have this problem?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Could you clarify whether you have yet been able to migrate your library as yet.

  • IChat won't go past welcome screen

When I try to open iChat the "welcome I see this is the first time you have used iChat" screen comes up. And well thats as far as it goes

So you are getting this screen ?
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/iChatPicsFolder/1_iChat%20Start%20Up%20Screens/slide s/01%20iChat%20Welcome%20Screen.html
But the "Continue" Button does not work ?
If you look by going manually to Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences do you have any .plist that start com.apple.ichat..... ?
If so delete them and try again.
Can you also go to the Applications folder and do a Get Info on the iChat App and tell us what version it says it is (Highlight the App and then use Apple key and i together or use the option (Get Info) in the Fele Menu of the Finder) ?

  • I have setup my mail but now it always opens to welcome to Mail page and I can't get past it.

I have set Mail and it worked fine before I upgraded to OS 5.  Now it always opens to Welcome to Mail page and I can't get past it. I tried just setting up the account again but it gives me the message that it already exists.  I can see 50 emails in the Mail icon.  How do I get past Welcome?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Just got a new IMac and can't get past the welcome screen?

I'm trying to set up new iMac. Can't get past welcome screen!!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

I finally got through to AppleCare. Turns out it was a corrupted drive, from the get-go. Never had a chance. Taking it to my nearest Apple Store in the am. to get the geeks to replace it. So young, so young, but it died a noble death. So it will soon be replaced by ImaScreaming version 2.0
Thanks for the help though guys.

  • Brand new out of the box Mac book pro won't go past register country screen. esc starts voice over, cannot click or enter to go to next set up screen. Help!

I have a new Mac book pro, powered up, won't go past welcome, choose country screen. VoiceOver works, I can use arrow keys to toggle up and down country list, but the continue button arrow will not work. Pressing enter makes an error tone. Tried everything to select country and proceed through setup, no luck. Supposed to be first Mac, present for my wife. So far not impressed!

I just purchased my first Mac last night and also had the same problem.  You have to press down on the track pad to hear it click.  After you get it all setup you can set the track pad up for "touch" clicking.  Hope this helps.
