Paste as an image?

I have Microsoft Office 2004 installed on my computer. whenever i copy a block of text from Word to paste into an iChat window, it copies over as an image. I think it is actually a pdf file. A direct connection is initiated and the file is sent as an image, not as a block of text.
if i just paste it into the text bar thing wihtout hitting enter, it just displays a small image logo. i am unable to edit the text in ichat.
is this a word, osx, or ichat problem and how do i fix it?
if i do Edit-> Paste and match Style instead of just a simple paste, it comes as regular text.
any help?

After pasting it, open an inspector window, then select the metrics section. In there, select constrain proportion.
When you do that, the image will keep the same proportion on it's sides when resizing.
Alternatively, since you mention the data is in Numbers, you could create the Table or chart directly on Keynote.

You probably have a path selected in the Paths panel in that image (or a Vector Mask active but that's the same thing). Go to the Paths panel and deselect the active path before copying

Start again. What programs are you using? Generally, you use File > Place to import files into InDesign or Illustrator. Copy/Paste are usually a recipe for bed news.

I am trying to use the business card template, but every time I go to copy/paste, my original image won't paste, and everything else disappears. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Copy and Paste Problems with Images

I'm having the strangest problems with images. I copy an image off of the web for one of my art history classes and I go to paste into another program but, whether it's Keynote, Powerpoint, Photoshop, or Graphic Converter, something always goes wrong: the images definitely lose some of their quality, become brighter in appearance, and get jagged on the edges. This is starting to drive me nuts, especially since it never happened in 10.4 on my iBook G4. Any suggestions?

Make it an 8-bit file (Image menu > mode).

Copying, pasting and displaying images

I am developing an application with dialogs that contain JTextFields, JTextAreas etc. to and from which I can cut, copy and paste text.
However, what I am trying to do is to place some kind of component on the dialog to which I can paste an image directly from the clipboard, and subsequently display this image within another component.
I have looked at the API but cannot see anything appropriate. Does anybody know how to do this?

I have developed an application that does that. I constructed it so that I could store images in a database as a blob field. Here are some relevant code portions (The action listener for the paste button). To copy string, just replace the imageFlavor with String flavor and have the string be displayed in a textpane or something:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Images can only be copied from the clipboard using java 1.4 or higher, because the imageFlavor is not defined in previous versions. Strings work though.

Problems pasting or opening image in Illustrator

Hi,
I'm simply trying to paste an image onto Illustrator that's 150 px x 150 px, but for some reason Illustrator re-seizes it so it's 90 px x 90 px and it's really distorted. It's the same when I just open the image in Illustrator too. Anyone know why this may be happening?

are you basing that on your artboard measurements? I have my artboard in inches--yours must be in pixels, right? Well,
what about the native resolution of the Illustrator environment versus the dpi of your imported (placed) image? You are using the command File>Place, right?

Zoom past edges of image

Hello,
I am having an issue that i cannot figure out, i might have hit some kind of shortcut or something... When i zoom in 100% to an image, i use the navigator to go to the corner of the image. however when i look at the image (i am in the corner) the scroll bars show that i can go further than that! so if i use the scrollbars to get to the corner it goes right past the image... now i know i can do this in fullscreen mode... (F key) however i have tried that and know that i am NOT in that mode, yet i can still scroll past the image. any thoughts on what or how to change this back to stop at the edge?! thanks in advance!

I cannot paste a copied image into the body of an email

I can attach images to an email but I cannot copy and paste them into the email itself. I have been trying to find an Insert button but have been unable to do so. My setting is html, not plain text.

Holding the shift key while clicking the Write button toggles to the opposite of what your account settings are. So if your account settings are for HTML, holding the shift while opening a Write window will switch to Plain Text or vise versa.
I am not sure what your issue with making this work is.
Check your account settings and see what your default is set to.

Is the option to compose in HTML checked?
Are you using an encryption add on of some kind? They force the composition to plain text.

Copy - paste of an image

Hello,
I need to develop the copy-paste functions for an image. But I really don't know how to do this.
I have an image, a rectangle selection on it, and I want to draw this selection on another window.
images can be 8 bits, RGB, any format.
the problem is not with paste but with copy. I don't how to get a new image, which is a part of the first image.

Hi all,
I have my own javascript to determine which portion(coordinates) of an image i wish to cut.
But what codes can i add to my javascript to paste the image into an excel(.csv) template that i've prepared on the desktop?
And if the above is possible, how then to control which row/column in the excel(.csv) will the image be pasted in?
This is because the excel(.csv) is a Template, thus i will need the image to be pasted only in certain row/column...
Can someone help me?

Pasting versus placing images?

Hi everyone,
Just trying to get something straight. In the recent past I have been creating textbooks with elaborate lay-out (and lots of photos) in iWork Pages '09. As Pages is limited, I used Acrobat to convert the resulting PDF into a printer-friendly document. We're talking professional printing here.
Now I want to learn InDesign because frankly it is more suited for professional printing than Pages. However, I really miss the 'picture frame' option in InDesign, which Pages does offer. Basically it puts my pictures in an attractive picture frame with one click.
So I found out I can just put my photos in Pages, add the picture frame and then copy-paste in inDesign and the picture frame comes with it. Which is great, except it's not a linked image but a pasted image - I think? So it weighs down my document?
Can anyone confirm that this is indeed happening the way I think it is? And does anyone have a solution? One of the advantages of inDesign (I believe) is that it links the images, so working in a document doesn't slow down so much after adding 100+ images of 1-2 MB each. This way I lose that advantage. Yet I don't want to give up my picture frames!
Sorry if this sounds like ridiculous newbie-talk. I'm only just getting used to InDesign.

Thanks for your answer, but you're kind of missing the point. Frames in InDesign are ugly. All you can do is create a line or a dotted line around a photo, basically. In Pages I can choose from a couple dozen graphic frames: making it look like the photo is a physical photo lying on the page or part of a photo album with those little corners, that sort of thing. It simply looks breautiful and professional. And if that's too much, I can choose any of about a dozen different 'freestyle' strokes as a border around the photo, creating a lovely effect of their own.
I can't seem to find any way to replicate that kind of effect in InDesign except by copy-pasting from Pages. Maybe I'm missing something though?

Open second image pastes into first image - CS5

CS5- Each time I try to open an image when I already have an image open, the second image automatically pastes into the first image. Can anyone please tell me how to stop this behavior? If I use File>Open, it works properly but I open images by dragging and dropping into an open Photoshop window.Thanks.

Thanks Chris but you're stating the obvious. In all past versions of Photoshop you could drag and drop images into a Photoshop workspace and cycle through them. The concept of dragging into an existing image is letting Photoshop read your mind. This is a feature that should be turned off or on with a check box in file handling, or a simple box allowing you to set the action to a legacy behavior. Or how about a message that appears the first time you do it with a choice, like converting to a color space flattens an image. I would have argued for this if I had still been a beta tester.
It's one thing to add a multitude of new features and another to change the default behavior of older features without giving the long time user an option to use legacy behavior.

Pasting a masked image unto another picture, background shows

I have a photo that I wanted to show just the people and no background. I masked the photo and have just the people. Now I want to take that photo and paste it unto another photo that has a blurr background effect. When I do the paste of the masked photo the background of that photo that I masked shows on top of the blurr background . How do I do this paste with only the people that I selected in the mask.

Here's a step by step overview of what I did to blur the background behind people:
1. Duplicate the original image as a second layer.
2. Mask so that the people only are showing in the top layer.
3. Use the mask to create a selection of the people only (Ctrl-click on the upper layer's Mask).
4. Make the top layer invisible and activate the lower layer.
5. Expand the selection to encompass a few pixels around each of the people.
6. Edit - Fill - Content Aware (which eliminates the people from the lower layer).
7. Filter - Blur - (Gaussian or Lens, depending on your preference).
If you did not duplicate your image as in step 1 above, don't worry, you can still get a second copy of the image from what you have:
A. Duplicate your masked image as a second layer.
B. Delete the layer mask from the lower layer.
C. Start with step 3 above.
If it's not clear to you how to accomplish any of these operations, I encourage you to look them up, so that you can become familiar with how to find out how to operate the software, but if you get stumped just ask and I (or someone else) will be happy to elaborate.

First, please verify that you mean CDDA and not CDA. CDA is not an audio format.
CDDA is pretty much the "raw" format of an audio CD. It is extremely unusual to have it as a separate file. If you still have the original CD that it came from, re-rip the CD using this document. (Edit added. I meant to add the link to this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12486 )
Otherwise, a web search will turn up converters that can process a CDDA file, although I have not used them.
