Paste as hyperlink

Hi, Simple question but has bugged me for a long time using Firefox. When pasting links of a website in say Yahoo mail, unlike I.E. the text does not convert or be recognised as a link or hyperlink, so when the recipient receives the e-mail, they have to copy and paste the link text into the URL bar. This is even more annoying if the recipient uses a tablet. Using I.E. this is never a problem as copy and paste auto recognises it as a link and go blue and underline the text, etc. Same with pasting into MS: Word. I have Windows XP and another PC with Windows 7 and is the same problem on both operating systems. I am not a technical IT person but I'm, obviously missing a simple trick somewhere. Can anyone help? Many thanks, Pete.

  • How to paste a hyperlink

I am still a newbie to my Mac and I can not seem to figure out how to paste a hyperlink where someone else can just click on the link I send them and not have to cut and paste the link.
    Thanks

    Hi Ali B,
Thanks for your reply, I did mean the link (URL) in Discussions and a Link within a Thread - Which is why I was confused. I also do not read code. I'm not so sure that Herknav meant this - I think he was asking about for mail and etc.
Hi Herknav, If you were asking for your mail or ichat then - Highlight the http:// address on your top tool bar - then choose Edit > Copy - then go to whatever you're typing to and click the cursor (flashing vertical line) to the spot you want the link to appear - then at your top tool bar again choose Edit > Paste and your link should paste to the location you had put your flashing cursor....It will not look like it's active - however once you send it you can check in your send folder and see it's highlighted as a link that can be clicked.
    Hi Brian Eater,
I already use the copy-paste for mail and ichat - I was trying to understand George Orville's informed help - and assumed it was for threads and discussions. Thanks for your reply.

  • How do I paste a hyperlink into the new version of Numbers and show the link name rather than its URL?

I used to be able to do this using paste and match style, but now instead of showing the link name as on the website of origin it is pasting the whole URL. thanks

    Hi Debbsy,
Hyperlinks in Numbers 3 are a bit of a mystery. However, here is one way that works.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6630204
    Debbsy's question
For example, the URL to this thread in Cell A2
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6630204
In Cell B2, insert the HYPERLINK function
    =HYPERLINK(A2,"Debbsy's question")
    Hide Column A.

  • Copy paste does not paste the hyperlink. Same action in IE does.

This problem is application dependent -- pasting to Serif PagePlus works (contains the link), pasting to Serif WebPlus does not. Pasting to PersonalBrain works, but not to TreePad. But if I copy and paste from IE, the link works.

This is still a known issue to be resolved: SCN Known Issues List > MKT-256 Cannot Paste Text into SCN Text Editor when Using IE 11.

  • Copy-Paste Hyperlink Bug?

    Hi,
My current work task requires I input a hyperlink from a web address into a cell, and repeat this a few thousand times. I've done this now several hundred times over, on two computers. I've observed that after a long series of repeatedly 1) moving the cursor
to the cell in which I want to place the hyperlink and 2) pasting a working hyperlink, my Excel sheet ceases to automatically turn new pasted URLs into hyperlinks. I must manually enter them into the formula bar to get the same result. As you might imagine,
this is a time-consuming extra step which slows down my progress toward completing this data set. Note that 1) I have done nothing to change the "auto-hyperlink" settings in my excel file, and 2) this event has happened with two different computers
    using Excel 2010.
This question was asked in a different form here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271856/en-us), however the article did not explain why copy-pasting hyperlinks has stopped functioning or how to resume functionality. Many thanks in advance if you know the
    answer.
    Jeff

    Hi,
Based on my tested, if I copied the whole cell which include a hyperlink and pasted to a new sheet, it worked well (Open the hyperlink in browser directly). If I only copied the hyperlink, it pasted as a text.  Microsoft Excel does not interpret these
text values as hyperlinks (Such as copy/paste the  hyperlink content) unless they are typed from the keyboard. When we type an entry in the worksheet that begins with any of the following prefixes, Microsoft Excel automatically creates
    a hyperlink:
    http://
    www.
    ftp://
    mailto:
    file://
    news:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291209/en-us
Thus, I recommend we select the cell not only the hyperlink during copying/pasting.

  • Paste Hyperlink into Adobe Acrobat  to Read SEC Edgar Filings [iOS]

In using an iPad, is there a way to paste a hyperlink into Adobe Acrobat Reader  that will open a document and allow all the features of  Reader to be utilized?

    Hi Dennis,
You cannot paste a hyperlink into the Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC for iOS app.  But I think I understand what you want to happen.
When you tap the hyperlink (to a PDF document) in a email message or web page on your iPad, the PDF document will be opened it in Safari.  You can use the iOS "Open In' feature to open it in Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC for iOS.
Please see the Safari section of the following FAQ document to see how to use "Open In".
How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader (iPad on iOS 7 or 8 version)
Once the PDF document is opened in Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC for iOS, you can add annotations (e.g. Sticky Notes, Highlight, Freehand Drawing), fill in (if it's a PDF form), print, and perform other operations.
Please let us know if it works for you.  Thank you.

  • Hi, I have a problem with hyperlinks when using Acrobat 5.0, can anyone help?

In the past, the hyperlinks have worked OK but I'm wondering if the more recent versions of the Readers will not recognise them. I am making
PDFs from Word 2003. The hyperlinks work OK in Word - just not in the PDF. Hope someone can help.

Thanks for that. I also had someone check it with V.8 and that didn't seem to work either..I can't seem to load an older version of the reader to test.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Text Hyperlink from PDF (converted Word doc) to specific Excel cell in same Portfolio

    Good Morning,
I have created a Word document with an embedded Excel sheet (both Office 2007) and created a text hyperlink within the document that points to a specific cell on a specific tab. My company wants to send our document to a customer, but will only send PDFs. When converting to PDF the hyperlink does not work any longer.
To make the behaviour in Word one must open the embedded Excel object to the specific sheet and then copy the specific cell in question. In Word choose Paste as Hyperlink. Press Alt+F9 and then change HYPERLINK to hyperLINK. Press Alt+F9. Edit the Settings of the Hyperlink and change the Text to Display.
Is there a way to do this with Acrobat 10? The plus side would be that the Excel document would not be embedded in Word although it would still need the Document ID of the Excel file in the portfolio. Futhermore, the Word document won't be included in the portfolio.

While Acrobat cannot pass opening parameters to non-PDF files it can do so for PDF (under specific circumstances).
See the "Parameters for Opening PDF Files" document at:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open _parameters_v9.pdf
    Be well...

  • Hyperlinks won't work on some pages

    Hi,
I created a document in CS3. I have lots of hyperlinks within the pdf, but for some reason all of the hyperlinks on specific pages won't work. I've even copied and pasted the hyperlinks from pages that do work. Please help!

    Hi Sandeep,
Thanks for responding - in answer to your questions:
    - there are no links to local files, all URL's starting http://www.
    - I'm using Acrobat Pro X (although also checking it in plain old Acrobat Reader)
    - I'm creating it with InDesign CS5
    - The links are definitely there when I open it up in Acrobat. I've evn tried setting the links up using Acrobat to test if it was a problem exporting from InDesign but that also didn't work for them.
I'm checking with the client now about the version(s) of Acrobat Reader they're on and also asking them to check the links within it. Are there any settings their end which could stop them working do you know? They've told me older documents with URL hyperlinks are still working fine, so wouldn't appear to be that.
I'm afraid this file is confidential, so I can't really share.
The latest test I've tried are to create a new 'for web' document and that seems to have helped testing on a different machine, although I'm waiting to see if it's had any effect with the client. I cannot think of any other things to try right now!
Thanks for all your help - any more suggestions or advice you can offer will be much appreciated!
    Regards,
    Luke

  • CC Hyperlink losing it's link

    I am using InDesign CC.
I am making a bajillion ebooks and they all need to have icons on the back page (fb, twitter, instagram, youtube, and pinterest). All these icons are vector  inside the InDesign document. And each icon has it's different hyperlink. I export it to PDF and they work beautifully. But when I copy the icons from one InDesign document and paste them into another InDesign document, some of them (not each one) lose their hyperlink. I noticed this in InDesign 5, but thought it was a bug and would be fixed in CC. Why would some lose it and not all? Any help would be sooooo appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Becca

I just tried to recreate your problem in CS6 (windows) and it worked for me after coping and pasting the icon from one documents to another -- the site (https://www.facebook.com) opened both in PDF and HTML.
I remember I had a similar issue when I was creating hyperlinks pointing from one indd-doc to another. (They were created for exporting to ePub). After coping-pasting a hyperlink was pointing to the original document so to make it work  in InDesign I had to keep both documents in the same folder. To make links work in ePub I fixed them by a script.

  • Infoview Hyperlink Problem after stack upgrade

    Good Morning,
We are currently doing a stack upgrade of our sap systems and are in quality testing.
    BW - 7.01 - level 0008
    Crystal - 12.3.2.753
    BOBJ - fix pack 3.2
We are having trouble with hyperlinks in infoview. These hyperlinks are based on standard BEx queries. When running the hyperlinks, infoview opens another window and you must logon to SAP netweaver. then, the page continuely refreshes and the data is never shown. i left it running for 30 minutes and the screen never completed.
Also, if i copy and paste the hyperlink into a internet explorer screen, it works properly. No issues.
Therefore, I believe that the infoview software must be the problem.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.
    Erik Thiessen

    this issue is two fold.
    1) the note 1437731 fixes this issue. it must be applied to your JAVA server.
    2) our stack upgrade to 701 ver 0008 from 0006 removed this code and caused this problem.
i have a ticket open with sap and they will need to add a fix for this to the stack upgrade or at least create a side effect document.
    thx,
    Erik Thiessen

  • WSUS exported report hyperlinks broken

Finding that if you export a report from the WSUS admin console, the hyperlinks do not work.  the path of the hyperlink is :
The error message is "unable to open" and then the path to the hyperlink.
if I copy and paste the hyperlink from the excel doc into an IE window, it does not link to the page.
Inside the admin console, the hyperlinks work just fine.  What can I do to make those hyperlinks work in an exported report

Finding that if you export a report from the WSUS admin console, the hyperlinks do not work.
The links to UPDATES, or approval state, or update status, are INTERNAL links dependent upon the WSUS database and they WILL only work within the Report Viewer.
The EXTERNAL links (e.g. to support.microsoft.com) should work without issue.
