Paste Develop Settings into multiple images ?

I develop a particular image that has similar light and exposure to many that follow, so I want to past those develop settings into the several images that follow. I highlight the several remaining images at the bottom shown thumbnails. I paste the develop setting. The setting seems to be applied to only the LAST image that I selected. Is this behaviour as expected?
I've only been able to manually paste the development settings into each of the images, ONE AT A TIME, which is quite tedious, compared to being able to do it to a group of images at once.
I would prefer to be able to paste the development setting to multiple images in one fell swoop.

Or use Auto Sync mode in Develop. Select multiple images in filmstrip or in Library's grid, then in Develop Ctrl/Cmd (Win/Mac) click the Sync button and it'll change to Auto Sync. Once it's on, it stays on. I almost always work this way - YMMV.
The modal thing is no big deal, just smoke thrown up by Aperture fans who're smart enough to spot differences and creative enough to twist them into a way of justifying their fanboyism. Library works on cached data, Develop accesses the original data. Once you get into Auto Sync, and learn your keyboard shortcuts, modal is nearly irrelevant.

  • Cannot paste develop settings to multiple images in Lightroom 3

I have just started using Lightroom 3 and am only able to paste develop settings to one image.  If I select multiple images it will only paste the setting to the active image, not all selected images. I never had this issue with Lightroom 2.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Hi Dorin
I think the complaint is still valid - there should be no reason that you should have to toggle to Auto Sync before being able to paste your develop settings to the entire target selection, not just the active image in the selection. It should work with that switch toggled to Sync mode as well -- there is obviously a bug here.
I am having the identical problem as the original poster. I am using LR 3.3 on a Mac, OS 10.6.5, in other words I cannot get develop settings to copy to all my selected target images while I am in the Develop module, only the active image within the target images, without toggling the Sync button to Auto Sync.
This even after the release notes for 3.3 say they have corrected for the problem "Paste Settings did not apply to all images in the Develop module Filmstrip" (see http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2010/12/lightroom-3-3-and-camera-raw-6-3-now-avail able.html)
This is silly. How do we ask Adobe to correct this bug?
    Cheers

  • Copy/Paste Develop Settings for multiple images

I'm trying to update some settings on multiple images. In Develop mode, I start by making the corrections to a single image, and then click the "Copy ..." button. I then select multiple images in the Filmstrip and click "Paste". This works just fine, but only on the 1st image/highlighted image, and not the whole selection. Am I doing something wrong here? Shouldn't I be able to update multiple images, at once, like a batch process?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lee Jay
How do you know this is on purpose? It seems like a bug to me.
    See this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2951457
If your reasoning was correct, how come the settings do paste to the entire target selection and not just the active image when the toggle in the lower right hand side of the screen is switched to Auto Sync?
Would love to hear more of your insight, because this is really confusing me.

  • I have a dual monitor setup.  When I paste develop settings from one image to another, Lightroom switches the active window.

Strange problem.  Lightroom 5.5.  Windows 8.1. Dual monitor setup.
I'm processing a large batch of photos.  I have Monitor #1 set as my main develop window, with Monitor #2 set only to display a larger version of the image I'm working with. If I copy the develop settings off of one image and try to paste them onto another image, Lightroom will switch from Monitor #1 to Monitor #2 as the main develop window, and will not display anything on Monitor #1.
If I then try to paste develop settings onto another image on Monitor #2, LR will then display a larger version of the image I'm working with on Monitor #1.
To work the way I want to, I have to continually drag my develop window back to Monitor #1 every time I try to paste develop settings onto a new image. How can I make this stop?

I just tried what I think you’re saying you’re doing and I don’t have the problem with LR 5.5 on Windows 7 SP 2.
Does the same thing happen whether you use the key shortcuts vs the Settings / Copy/Paste options on the menu?
I ask this because if you’re using the keyboard shortcuts, maybe you have some display-manager program that has bound itself to the Ctrl-Shift-V (paste settings) to the function of move-to-other-monitor which would do at least part of what you describe.
You can also test this theory by doing a Ctrl-Shift-V with an application other than LR as the active window and see if it moves.  I suppose Ctrl-Shift-C might also play into it so try both of these hot-key combinations with a program that isn’t LR.
If none of this sheds any light on the situation, then give a more detailed description of the low-level functions you’re doing to accomplish the copy-paste of settings, so someone else could replicate the steps exactly.
    Specific detailed steps, like:
left-click on source photo’s thumbnail in the filmstrip
press Ctrl-Shift-C to copy the settings
    click Check-None
enable the white-balance and calibration checkboxes
    click Ok
left-click on destination photo's thumbnail in the filmstrip
click on Settings / Paste Settings in LR’s menus to paste the settings to the selected photo

  • How can I copy develop settings on multiple images from one folder to another?

I have a bunch of Fuji X-T1 raw images that I have converted to DNG form. Once Lightroom supports X-T1 raw images directly, I would like to replace the DNG files by the corresponding raw files (which I have saved) without having to redo all of my edits.
I've tried an experiment with a NEF file, which Lightroom supports: If I convert it to a DNG file, import the DNG file, then replace the DNG file with the corresponding NEF file, Lightroom still thinks the file is named DNG. This behavior makes me nervous.
So what I would like to do is to import all of the Fuji raw files, then transfer the develop settings from each DNG file to the corresponding raw file, then finally archive and delete the DNG files.
Is there any way to do this other than by hand? That is, if I have a folder with a few hundred DNG files, is there any way to tell Lightroom to take the develop settings of every file in the folder and transfer them to the correspondingly named file in the folder of raw files?
If not, can someone suggest to me a way of accomplishing this that does not involve copying and pasting the data for every image by hand?

  • Can't Paste Develop Settings to Multiple Photos

I'm running Lightroom V3.2, and I have about 100 pictures I took at a concert.  I tweaked the exposure, brightness, etc, and the noise reduction, and copied the develop settings.  If I paste the settings onto any one photo, the paste works great.  However, I want to paste these settings to all 100 photos at once.  In the filmstrip, I select multiple photos, and no matter how I paste it (typically with the big paste button on the lower left of the develop screen) the settings are applied to only the right-most selected photo in the filmstrip.  I've tried everything I can think of but I can't get the settings to apply to multiple photos at once.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    John

That did it, thanks for the speedy reply!!!
Wow, is that functionality confusing though...

  • Pasting settings to multiple images in Flimstrip

Hi - this is probably a basic question but I may have missed the "how to."
When I finish adjusting (in the Develop Module) and I click "copy" and select the items I want to copy, then what I want to do is apply (paste) these settings into a number of images.
What I'm doing is then I highlight ("Crtl+Click") several images in the Filmstrip.  Once these images are highlight (filmstrip images highlighted), I then click "Paste" - but the only image that is changed (settings applied) is the first filmstrip image.
How do I select in the filmstrip the images I want to adjust (apply the copied settings) and have the settings applied to all the selected images?
I'm sure this is obvious and there has got to be a way to apply this "recipe" to all the selected images without having to create a collection or do it one-at-a-time.
This is proably the same issue, but when I want to rotate several images (in the Library module), if I select them in the flimstrip, only the first image rotates when I click the clock-wise or counter-clock-wise arrow.  Same issue?  Can this be done in the filmstrip?
    Thanks

Thanks - one would think selecting multiple images in the filmstrip, you could then paste the settings to those selected.  Guess I had better read about Sync.
Yep, it took me a while to figure out that wouldn't work.
And, what is Auto Sync used for?   Lot to learn.
I'm pretty knew to LR, too, but I think this will automatically apply changes to multiple images in real time. So if, for example, you raise the black slider by 5, it will be raised by 5 in all the images you have sync'd.
So, there really isn't any Grid in the Develop Module - you have to switch from Develop to Library, right?
    Right
I've gotten a lot of use out of Scott Kelby's Lightroom 3 for Digital Photographers book. There's a lot of stuff hidden in LR that you'll never figure out on your own.

  • Copy Settings to multiple images - STILL A NOT WORKING AFTER MANY VERSIONS!

I have reported the problem of pasting settings to multiple images for many versions and this simple bug is STILL present in LR4!
In develop module, make changes to an image, click Copy button, select settings to copy.
Now, select a range or a number of images to which you want to paste the settings, click Paste button.  Guess what?  Only the first image gets the settings!
This functionality should work and is even documented in the manual.  There are other ways of copying settings but I can never remember how to do this.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a genuine bug that only seems to affect a few people (I did a web search for V3), or do people just not use this function?
Please developers, fix this bug if it really is a bug!

    Thanks Dorin for the information.
I guess I am just frustrated that the program does not work the way it is documented.  There are two very prominent buttons, Copy & Paste and they don't work as documented or as you would expect them to.
With sync you have to navigate menus to do what one click of the mouse should accomplish.  All I want is some acknowledgement from Adobe that this is a bug and for it to be adressed.  As a long-time IT person I know this would be VERY easy to fix.  If it cannot be fixed then update the documentation.
Oh well, enough said.  I still love LR!!!

  • Is there a way (or a plugin) to export develop settings into a readable file format?

For online educational/sharing purposes, I'd like to be able to export my LR develop settings into a readable text format so that if I share a before/after picture I can also include the LR develop settings that went into creating the after picture.  I've looked for 2 days and I can't find a plug-in that will do this.

The List View plugin can export develop settings as a CSV file for Excel or HTML for a browser.
If you're technically minded and comfortable with scripting, it's straightforward to write a script that reads the settings from the XMP metadata stored in the .xmp sidecars (for raws) or in the XMP metadata section of JPEGs and TIFFs.   Open a .xmp sidecar in your favorite text editor to get a flavor of how the develop settings are stored there.

  • Scanning (Into JPEG) of Plain Paper with few graphics results into multiple images on HP 3545

Scanning (Into JPEG) of Plain Paper with few graphics results into multiple images.
Whenever I scan a page which is almost a white paper, but has some graphics on it, then the Scanned Files is not a single, rather it becomes in multiple parts e.g. circle in one jpeg file, square in another jpeg file. However the scanning to PDF works fine. Please let me know if this is manufacturing defect or defect in the product I purchased.

This only happens if I scan plain paper with few graphics. But scan to jpeg is working fine if the page has multiple objects

  • How to paste exposure setting to multiple images

    Hi all:
I know this question has probably been asked many times but I couldn't find any answer using the search so please be patient with me. :)
I came from the world of RawShooter Premium and I realized that my version of RSP can't read RAW file from the Canon 30D so I got the Adobe Lightroom to process my images. All is well until I decide to paste the exposure setting from one image to multiple images. I know there is a copy and paste button in the "develop" mode but it doesn't paste the settings (color temp, exposure, noise, etc) to all the images even when I highlighted the images I want to paste. I can do that in RSP, which save a lot of time.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ben

In develop, copy and paste only works on the selected image. You can sync or auto sync (control-sync) there.
If you want to copy and paste to multiple images using shift-control-C and shift-control-V, you can do that in grid mode.

  • Lens Correction Profiles: Pasting develop settings in bridge yields inconsistent crop

    Hello Everyone,
I recently discovered lens correction profiles which have been a real benefit to me in my most recent batch of images shot at 16mm on a Canon 5d MII. The lens distortion isn't always spot on, but it is a huge headstart most of the time.
I bracket photos for HDR and will apply all my crop settings to one image in the bracketed series and afterwards psate the settings onto all the others in the series. This works great.
However, once I started using Lens Correction Profiles, when I paste the crop setting onto the subsequent images, the crop is in a different position. I was completely baffled. But after some fiddling around, I noticed that if I manually open each of the subsequent images, remove the crop, uncheck and recheck the Lens Correction Profile, and reapply the crop, it is consistent with the first. This leads me to believe that somewhere in the Paste Setting sequence, it is doing the crop out of order. (As if it is cropping the image and THEN applying the lens correction--which yeild different results.)
(As a item of note, when I mean cropping, I use the automatic crop obtained by highlighting the entire area of the image after applying lens corrections so as to only crop out the grey areas acquired by shifting the image around while still maintaining aspect ratio.)
Is there any way we can get the pasting to paste so as to make these subsequent images identical to the original image? Or am I missing something?
    Relevant Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Bridge 4.0.4.2
    Adobe Camera Raw 6.4.0.139
    Photoshop 12.0.3 x64
    Thanks,
    Dave

Normally, when you apply a lens correction profile, there shouldn't be any visible gray areas around the border of the image.
Are you saying this is not the case?
Are you making additional distortion or keystoning adjustments (e.g., in the manual tab)?

  • How to revert copied and pasted Develop Settings to raw files.

Using Bridge 2.1.1.9 and just discovered this handy workflow scheme.
Was wondering if there was a way to go back to the previous setting after applying a Develop Setting copied from another file within Bridge. There doesn't seem to be or at least I haven't found a "Command Z" option within Bridge.

    Good points, Omke.
I've duplicated my Pentax PEF's and they do retain the .xmp embedded edits without being converted to DNG.
And I do save custom named edits using the traditional method in ACR, but you should see the list I've accumulated. It's huge. Most have come about due to my experimentation with target scenes I've created to come up with some setting that could be applied to a series of scenes lit with available light to make them all look like they came out of the same camera. I don't own expensive studio lights. I shoot landscapes and animals at my local park.
I just love the immediacy of copying and pasting .xmp exported tweaked edits from another image and applying to a series of scenes shot under the same outdoor light. I have my image thumbnails sprawled out in Bridge so I can get an overall view of their differences. It would be nice to revert back to the previous .xmp exported edit after a copy and paste.
But it doesn't really matter anyway cuz most just need a tweak to color temp, clarity and vibrance adjust to get them to look alike with regards to color. Exposure differences are far more time consuming and require opening each one in ACR.
