Paste Options in Lion

Hello all,
I have recently upgraded from 10.5.8 to 10.7 and a Mac Pro and I have a question concerning the 'Paste' options in Lion. This may have been part of Snow Leoprd as well, but although I also have SN installed on and external drive I've had little experience with it. I've noticed that depending on the type of information I have copied there are a couple of different options when pasting. If I am updating a file or folder the paste dialog will sometimes show 'Replace All' or 'Keep Newer', and of course 'Stop'. Then there's the 'Merge' option occasionally. I will soon be updating some files/folders from an older 'Work' drive to my new internal 'Work' drive and would like to know exactly what these terminologies mean. I'm hoping that somehow 'Paste' is able to scan the destination drive and only paste newer files and/or versions, perhaps with the 'Merge' option. If anyone can provide the exact meaning of the 'Keep Newer' and "Merge' options it would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to search this out, both in 'Help' and on Google, but with no success. I've also done a coiuple of test runs but haven't been able to determine yet how it's working.

It's because of the extension of the hard drive is a Windows extension ( most likely MSDOS or Ex-FAT), meaning you can only read but not write. If there are no important files (or you can copy the whole thing to your computer/mac) you can just reformat the hard drive and change the extension to NTFS (readable and writable on both windows and mac) or Mac OS Extended (readable and writable on Mac, readable on windows).
Go to DISK UTILITY
Choose the Hard Disk you intended
ERASE
You can choose either
(I personally prefer this one, you know just in case)

I can't copy and paste text into photoshop because the copy paste option is acting up

Let me explain. I found some text on a website I wanted to us for my project so I copied it into a text box that I made in photoshop. I edited the text to my liking and then hilighted the entire text. When I go to copy the text by right clicking and then clicking on copy it just pastes the original text from the website I got it from instead of copying the edited text. I even tried ctrl+ C and it still pasted the original text not copy the one I edited. Last resort- I re-edited my text and go to edit and click copy. Still no fix it just pastes the original text. For some reason photoshop is thinking that the copy option is a paste option. I have no idea why this is or how to fix this. This was not happening about an hour ago so I have no idea why this is happening. I even tried restarting my laptop and I even tried a test in a completely new photoshop document and it still does this. How do I fix this? I have photoshop CS4 currently installed. Help is appreciated.

Has anyone found that MS Word stops showing paste options after upgrading to latest Firefox version?

I recently upgraded to Firefox 26. I have a PC using Windows XP Professional SP3. I also use Microsoft Word 2007. Recently, when I copy something and paste it into a Word document, I no longer see the little button that allows me to choose paste options ("Match destination formatting", etc). Note that I have checked the box in options which says "Show paste options button".
I can't be absolutely sure of this, but I suspect the Firefox upgrade and the sudden disappearance of my paste options button are related. (This may sound unlikely, but I read on another forum that someone had the same problem after installing Skype, so maybe it's not impossible).
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know of solution (whether or not related to Firefox)?

Using the paste options randomly misses out text, don't use it and use the 'Paste Special...' option instead (MS Outlook)

Also there seems to be no obvious way to report Office bugs. This is leaving little room for improvement. Not sure if there has been any planning on this front???

Do you have this issue when pasting in other programs?
If you are pasting something into Outlook, some formats and images may get lost, especially when you choose the Paste Options as Keep Text Only.
Once you have this issue again, please try with "Keep Source Formatting". This may keep the Sour Formatting and you may not get the text lost.
If you have any feedback when using our products, I suggest you press Ctrl + Alt + 7 or Ctrl + Alt + 8 to submit it. Microsoft will always listen to users' voice and make the products better and easier to use.

Nothing that comes with Lion.
Just put, "osx drawing program free," in Google and take your pick.
First one on the list is one called Paintbrush: http://paintbrush.sourceforge.net/
You could also just search the App Store.

Adobe Reader Touch supports copying text only (not images).
Tap on text and move "grabbers" to adjust text selection (Touch) or select text with a mouse.
Press and hold (Touch) or right-click with a mouse to bring up the context menu.
Select Copy from the context menu.
You can paste the copied text to an existing sticky note or text field in Adobe Reader Touch or to other application such as Microsoft Word or Notepad.

Hey Hi, to apple Family.
Few days back, when i was doing some normal work on MS word, i found that i my paste option is not working.
Then i tried to use it for normal work like Moving Pics from here and there, but still found the same result.
When i try to select anything and then copy/cut anything, it got the intial action, but when i got to paste it anywhere, it won't do the action, and after checking in status bar, (above), It shows Paste option Faded, like i can't use it.
If some one from Users or any one From Apple Support can help me please do the need full done.
I have lotss of data in my Macbook, and i need to move it to somewhere else.
Please Help me.

Besides the good advice so far, might try this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Right clicking on open tab yields only 'cut and paste' option.

My (new) computer has some sort of touch control that randomly changes font size. MSM has a tool icon that restores font size, Firefox doesn't. Right clicking on empty tab yields only the cut and paste option.

If the zoom level changes on a page, you can reset it to the default using either:
* Ctrl+0 (that's a zero)
* View menu > Zoom > Reset

On a conventional mouse, you can zoom text by holding down the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel (forward=larger, backward=smaller). I'm not sure how your touch device works, but if it changes the zoom level without having to hold down Ctrl or another key, that's not very convenient.
Now, regarding the empty tab problem, how are you opening the tab? Have you noticed problems with your right-click context menus in other situations?
