Paste Special from Word

I am currently inputing a large amount of copy done in MS
Word with tons of hyperlinks. I notice that DWcs3 eliminates the
deprecated span and font tags, but in the process drops the
hyperlinks. Is there no way to retain these? I have looked in
Preferences, but found nothing...

I use a Mac, with Microsloth Word 12.3.6 (Office 2008). Any text that you copy directly into the code portion of Dreamweaver (and I have tested this with both CS3 and CS 5.5) will come in as plain text. Of course, you need to add paragraph marks to it, but you can do that one of two ways:
Copy the text in Word.
Go to the insert point you want to go to in Code view (or in the code box in Split view)
Paste the text; it will come in without Word formatting.
Select a paragraph of text.
Press [F5] to refresh
In the Properties panel (below your website working area) in the Format selector, choose Paragraph.
Or,
Copy the text in Word.
Go to the insert point you want to go to in Code view (or in the code box in Split view)
Paste the text; it will come in without Word formatting.
For each paragraph, in Code view, type "<p>" to begin each paragraph and go to the end of the paragraph and type "</" (Dreamweaver will automatically close the open paragraph tag).

I'm trying to paste into DW some word paragraphs. I'm doing the paste special to retain paragraphs, edit paste special, but nothing is pasting in.

Paste special from content.rtf demonstrated by David Powers

How do I paste special from content.rtf to dreamweaver as part of tutorial part 2 by David Powers? I have tried double click but Word will not open, and I have opened content.rtf in wordpad but will not paste special into script window on dreamweaver.

OK - here is the documentation of this weird issue (hopefully, you can read the htlm code in the screen images):
1. In this topic, I cut and pasted some text into the table you see at the bottom of the screen. I had to reapply the “TableBody” style to this text. After doing this, I moved my cursor to the “Keyboard" text on top. Notice that it is displaying the "TABLEBODY" style, although visually, it is displaying the correct style on screen (“Heading 1”).
2.     In HTML view, notice the addition of the class= “TableBody”> code for this “Keyboard” text.
3.   I then reselected Heading 1 for this “Keyboard” text.
4.   Notice that the class= “TableBody”> code is now removed for this “Keyboard” text and has just the proper <h1> tagged assigned.

Pasting text from word replaces Keynote styles

I get documents that are styled in Word that I have to convert to Keynote. Even though my text boxes are styled in the Master Slides, when I copy and paste text from word it comes in with all of word's formatting and disregard's Keynote's styling for that text box. I tried to convert the word docs to rtf or just plain text, but the text just imports without Keynote's styling applied to it. It would be very tedious to have to style each text box as I bring it in to Keynote. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the workflow less painful?

Pasting Text from Word to InDesign (need preserve selected formatting)

When I import text from Word to Indesign I want to preserve the Italic and semi-bold but nothing else.
The Indesign document has a template set up with ipsum text styled with semi-bold and normal text as well as a character style for the italic.
When I paste the text into InDesign I want the ital and semi-bold to translate into the already styled text frame with no other formatting from Word.
As there will be hundreds of text frames like this I want the ital etc to automatically translate. I also need to paste text over these templated text frames (see attached.

Use File > Place and check the import options instead of Copy/Paste.

Copy/paste text from Word doc or PDF to Robohelp

Bolded words, indentions, paragraphs, line spacing, font, and
text size amongst other things are lost when I do a simple
copy/paste... Any way to relieve this?

I'd like to answer this in a slightly different way..
It's a good idea to format anything you paste into RH in RH
using paragraph styles etc. Hardcoded formatting won't be under
stylesheet control which is very bad news.
In fact I generally paste stuff from a word doc into notepad
first to remove any formatting soI have "clean" text to begin with.
That way you ensure consistency when styles are updated etc
as well maintaining consistency with what's already there.

I have just dowloaded iTunes new version 10.4 (on Windows), and I can't paste artwork from Word anymore, only directly from the net (where the size or the quality are not always optimal). Any way around this?

Look out for "japiohelp".
In short:
a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
c) reboot the computer

Pasting tables from Word into Dreamweaver MX

Hi everybody,
Did a search for this but didn't find anything.
I used to be able to paste tables (or individual rows and
columns) from Word XP directly into a Dreamweaver MX table.
Yesterday, I had to reinstall Dreamweaver MX due to a computer
crash and now can no longer paste in Word tables.
The rows or columns being copied simply delete the
Dreamweaver table and get pasted as text only.
Am i missing something like a patch or an update? Is there an
option or preference that can be set?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

However, Dreamweaver MX does not have a Copy/Paste option
under Preferences.
I have noticed that after the Word table gets pasted as text
(deleting the Dreamweaver table in the process) the Edit option to
undo says "Undo Paste as Text" and not "Undo Paste".
It is possible that somewhere there is a 'Paste' option set
to 'Paste as Text' and not 'Paste the Object'?

Boris title3D crashing when pasting Japanese from Word

Doing Japanese subtitling for a feature doc.
Not sure if this holds true for all versions of Word, but figured this might save someone a lot of pain.
When I try and copy Japanese text from Word into Boris Title3D, FCP consistently crashes. The solution, open up the doc in TextEdit and copy from there.
I am using a relatively old version of Word. May not hold true for later versions.

Bullets which include links will prevent correct copy/paste content from word document to wiki page.

I have a word document around 20 pages which contains the following sentence (a bullet with two links):-
Now if I remove this sentence then copy/paste the 20 pages from word to wiki page they will be pasted correctly inside the wiki page , where all the pages, bullets, etc will be mapped correctly inside the wiki page as HTML tables, bullets ,etc.
But the problem if I kept the above sentence then the whole 20 pages will be pasted as plain text inside the wiki page.
So can anyone advice on this ?and how I can overcome it ?

You can try this (1) Save as Word Doc as single file web page (2) Open that file in normal text editor(notepad or so) and copy all (3) Goto Wiki page edit source and paste all (4) Save it

Freeze when copy paste text from word to Indesign CC

Hi,
I have a problem when working with indesign CC. When i'm copying text from word to Indesign, after a while my windows system freezes. Only Indesign works. Windows and word are frozen. After a while (several minutes) the system works agian.
This problem occurs sinc I have Indesign CC.
Windows 8, indesign CC, Word 2013
I hope someone has a solution.

It's the PDF.
Usually, you can copy text out of a PDF, but there is no guarantee *at all*. Older software used to take shortcuts to subset fonts: first character it encountered got coded as #1, the next as #2, etc. etc. If you do a search & replace of each of the nonsense characters, you'll slowly see the original text appearing (thst's not as simple as it sounds, though).
A similar "problem" is that sometimes spaces don't get copied (there is no need for a "Space Character" in a PDF), and that you cannot copy contiguous lines of text as a single paragraph. All of it is because a PDF is not intended nor designed to be re-used after creation.
If you really need this text and don't want to type it in, try to get hold of the original file.

Copy and paste text from Word for Mac to Mail exasperating!

I'm so exasperated!! I would be grateful for some help. I have a carefully worded template letter in Word for Mac. I copied and pasted it into Mail and loads of extra lines are put in that I cannot delete! So I painstakingly copy and paste each line. I still have to faff about deleting extra lines that magically appear, then press shift+enter to go to next line without having a line space. It has messed up font size as well. Surely it should be straightforward to copy and paste simple text from one program to another! Is there something I should know or do I just have to type everything out afresh each time - ridiculous in this so called easy technology that saves work ha ha.

Copy/paste Footnotes from Word

I am writing my thesis and want to format in Pages. I did most of my work on Word, but it does not format pictures nearly as well. I copy-pasted my essay to Pages, but the new program does not recognizemy footnotes. Any help or suggestions?

Pages divorces foot notes from what it classifies as body text. If the footnotes are not preserved in the Pages body text, you will have to perform insert footnote to in the corresponding location of the original Word text.
Select the actual footnote text in word, copy, and in Pages, single click the corresponding footnote text area at the bottom of the Pages document. This will display as a box around the footnote text area. Double-click in this specific footnote text area, and then paste the content from the Word footnote text.

this text on Director.
When I copy the Word text and paste it on Director (on a text
field) it changes the fonts.
The problem is that, although I change the fonts on the whole
text (to "Times New Roman Greek"), the english words sometimes look
strange. So, I have to mark every english word and change its fonts
from "Times New Roman Greek" to Times New Roman. As you see, it's a

1253 is the code page for greek.
For mac code pages supported by windows (values you can pass
