Pasting imprecise in Keynote 6

Anyone besides me experiencing imprecise pasting in Keynote 6? If I copy multiple objects and paste them to another slide (or just back to the same slide) they end up in another position than from where I cut/copied them.
Even if I notch the objects back into place, they are still a bit off. It's horribly annoying. Keynote 5 was rock solid in this regard.
Well... just one more bug in a horrifyingly bug ridden piece of software, I'm afraid. I'm flabbergasted that Apple has allowed something so bad to be released.

  • How to auto-style the pasted text at Keynote?

    Hi,
Currently I'm preparing a presentation via Keynote but there is a problem. I gathered information from my friends as .txt and .docx files. I've chosen the "Leather Book" template. When I paste the text from the .docx file, color and font of the text doesn't change to match the "Leather Book" template. However,.txt files seem to be okay. They just take the style of template. Is there an easy way to automatically convert the style of text to match the template's default style?
    Thanks in advance.
         1. This is what happens when I paste text from the .docx file.
        2. When I paste text from a .txt file, text automatically takes the style of the template.

    Hi,
Thanks for answering. I've just figured it out And for those who struggle with the same problem, there is another way I found out: Open the document with Pages, File> Export> Plain Text. When you save the file as plain text, you can just copy and paste without using "paste and match style".
    Have a nice day.

  • Why do objects get bigger when I copy and paste from one Keynote document to another?

I have 2 keynote presentation files open. I select some objects on one slide, apple-C to copy, go over to a blank slide in another file, and apple-V to paste. The item(s) get pasted but are much bigger - they take up way more of the new slide than they did for the old one.  What am I missing? Why can't I copy it with the same relative size it used to have?

Chances are that small file used to be a PowerPoint file - PowerPoint deals in inches instead of pixels (which blows my mind).
I would first convert the smaller file to a larger resolution - that should keep most of the scaling intact - and then copy and paste. In my opinion you'll probably have to re-polish your presentation once you've changed the resolution as some things will probably be a bit wonky.

  • Can you NOT copy an Amerture image and paste it into keynote?

I'm able to highlight an image in iPhoto, copy it, and paste it into another Mac app like keynote no problem. But my trial version of Aperture doesn't allow me to do that. How come?
Yes, I should be able to drag the image into a Mac app, but often they get out of sync and the recent image I've imported into iphoto is not available for dragging. So I just copy and paste it.
But what's up with Aperture in this area?

To use images from the media browser, you must generate previews of the images first. It sounds like the "automatically generate previews for every new project" is turned off under Aperture >Preferences>Previews. To generate a preview for a photo to use in the media browser, right click it and select "update preview". The quality of the preview photo is determined by the settings in the Previews tab found under the Aperture>Preferences menu.

  • How do you paste special in Keynote?

I want to group items and then paste special as an image???

if you mean embedding a font - Keynote does not have this feature
a work around is to use Arial font which is installed on all PC and Mac machines
if you mean placing text on the slide - click on the text button in the tool bar
if you mean something different,    post back

  • Can't copy and paste properly into Keynote

This is what happens when I try to copy and paste an image from Safari to Keynote: DEQ8AlA.gif
(hopefully you're able to see the gif below)
It just pastes as 'Text'....  I can copy images from Google Chrome into Keynote just fine. But I can't from Safari.
I used to use Google Chrome but after updating to Yosemite I began using Safari and noticed this problem. So I don't know if this is a problem with Yosemite, or just Safari/Keynote that would've always been there for me.
    How can I fix this?

    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

  • Pasting code into Keynote

Hi - does anyone have any tips on pasting code directly into Keynote from xCode. By simply copying and pasting it seems to screw up all the tabs. Thanks in advance.

Not sure why it isn't working for you; it's working fine for me. The other thing you could try is converting the tabs to leading whitespaces.
In Xcode you can set the preferences so that the editor uses leading whitespaces instead of tabs. This makes it much easier to copy and paste code from one app into another. There are two places where you can specify these settings. One is under Preferences>Indentation and the other is under Preferences>Text Editing (deselect the box that says "Editor uses tabs"). You can specify the number of spaces for each tab, etc...
The above will only apply to any new code you write, so to convert the tabs in an existing document, do a Find/Replace operation within Xcode. Under the Find Options select "Regular Expression" and search for "\t" and replace with " " (four whitespaces or as many as you desire).
A mixture of whitespaces and tabs can cause funkiness so be sure you replace all tabs before pasting the text into Keyntote.
    Hope that helps.

  • How can I PASTE AS in keynote?

I have the new keynote with Mavericks 10.9.2 and there doesn't seem to be a way to double click and paste something into the current style (font, size, color etc).
Everything pasted still has the old formating and I have to either retype it instead of pasting, or I have to go through and manually update all of the formatting.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Copy and pasting text into a separate textbox in a separate file preserves all existing attributes perfectly and does so on my system, so there is an issue with your system.
As a work around, use the copy and paste style in the format menu.
try this repair for Keynote 6.1, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to      do this, its freeware
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back if this helped.

  • Trying to copy and paste objects in keynote 6 I only get a hyperlink when pasting. Anyone else having the same problem? is there anywhere I can change it so that the copied object is pasted directly into the new slide?

    Hi
I am trying to copy one object from one lside to another slide in the same presentation. The only thing I get when pasting is a hyperink. Does anyone know how I can turn this off so that the image or the object is pasted as copied to the new slide?
    Thanks a lot

there are some unexpected issues when copy and pasting.
As a workaround, use duplicate slide to get the same object in another slide, (select the slide in navigator and command D or right click > duplicate)

  • HELP  Paste problems with Keynote

I am having a problem that is becoming very frustrating. At times if I try to copy a block of text or a graphic from one slide to another, the item pastes on to the target slide but everything else on the slide disappears. I used to think it had to do with copying and pasting items that were layered. But I now have the same problem just copying a single item. The problem doesn't manifest itself immediately. I can be working for a few hours and be on my 50th slide and all of a sudden, I can no longer copy and paste. I have tried saving and re-opening the file. This doesn't help.
I have an important presentation tomorrow and can't finish the slides!

Additional Information... I just tried doing a Select All. This revealed that everything on the slide is still there but it has all gone to the BACK. Selecting BRING TO FRONT makes it all visible again. However... This unintended re-ordering is extremely annoying. What am I doing wrong?

  • Copy and paste iBooks to Keynote

This feature used to work, even with a copyrighted book.  Have been using it as a source of speaker notes for a Keyniote.  But now the "Copy" function in iBooks is grayed out.  Why the change?  How to fix?

    Hi,
Use this command on the original ASA to show the PSKs that are now marked with *
    more system:running-config
This will show them in clear text
Or you will simply copy the configuration a PC with TFTP and then copy that configuration file to the new ASA.
    Hope this helps

  • IWork(Keynote, pages and numbers) doesn't work well about the issue of copy & paste problem

I think so, too. the Keynote 6.5 is not working well on Yosemite (Mac OS X 10.10.1).
In my case, I can't copy & paste from some program(particularly analysis program in my case) to Keynote.
So, when I check coping & pasting the graph or image and so on to Powerpoint and other programs (one of Office is such word and 3rd programs), It works well. However It doesn't work at Keynote, page and numbers.
Also, I tried to do the following process to solve this issue
    ======
Something is wrong with your installation of Keynote
Try this repair for Keynote, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using AppDelete.
    ====
It doesn't work! Anything doesn't change.
In conclusion, I didn't solve this yet!
Plz, solve this problem or fix it!.

This is a double posting, please only post in one discussion at a time.
Keynote 6.5 is stable and reliable under Yosemite for most users.
As with all new operating systems and applications, a small number of users find a few problems.
Copy and pasting text from and into Keynote from all the applications I have, work perfectly: the applications include; Safari, Mail, Word, PowerPoint, excel, Pages, Numbers, iMovie, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
If you want to place graphics into Keynote, use one of the following methods:
    Insert > Coose
click the media button on an image placehoder
click the media button on the tool bar
drag and drop from a Finder window
Copy and pasting images into Keynote is not supported

  • Paste an image in Keynote in preset format ??

Looking for a way to paste an image in a keynote presentation with a preset format.
More Context: I have to submit a daily keynote presentation and I get images everyday to paste in it. But when I paste, I have to manually adjust the arrangement daily. Initially I just used to delete content early presentations and pasted the recent image and it worked fine, i.e., the image adjusted automatically according to earlier arrangement. But suddenly this is not working, don't know why. The image is getting pasted in its original size.
Any help in this is very much appreciated.
    Thanks

Gary Scotland - Thanks a lot for your help. This has eased my job one level.
Am also looking to automate the complete process of my daily report: Just to name all the steps
Data in excel - Paste some data into numbers and in turn paste the resulting charts into keynote
                        - Paste some data into google spreadsheet-take snap shots of tables and paste these into keynote
                        - Paste some data charts from excel directly into keynote
So any idea on automating the above 3 steps (may be using applescript, but am new to mac and no idea on applescript).
If you need more details, please do let me know.
Your help is very much appreciated Gary.
Thanks again for all the help and quick response.

  • Keynote 6.5 Loses Ability to Keep Master Slide Objects Static for Object Transitions

A gripe that I'm hoping many of you are as infuriated with as me – and hopefully maybe someone can point out something I am not seeing.
In past versions of Keynote 6:
    Premise:
An object is placed on a Master Slide (not a placeholder)
That master is applied to slides.
An Object Transition (Cube, Revolve, Pop, Push, Flip, Zoom Perspective) is applied to that slide (which is followed by a slide with the same master)
    Result:
Only objects not on the master slide would animate during the transition leading to a premium feeling transition.
    Keynote 6.5
    Premise:
    Same as above
    Result:
All objects animate, including non placeholder Master Slide objects resulting in "too much" happening on screen.
As a presentation designer who makes a living on Keynote, this is a huge step back. I used to trick Keynote 5.3 into getting the effect that I wanted by taking screenshots of a blank slide and then making that screen shot the background of a slide. It was a time suck, often somewhat pixelated, a huge addition to file size (especially for templating), and cumbersome to make small changes like adjusting position of logos.
Apple... I hope one of your engineers are reading this and creates a fix for this in the near future.
