Pasting large blocks of text (books) into Adobe InDesign?

I'm trying to take a books that's in PDF format and copy the text and then paste it into Adobe InDesign so I can then turn it into an EPUB file. Anyways I don't know how to do this because the text only pastes onto one page at a time.
How do I go about doing this?
Thanks

That's a horrible way to do it. Nevertheless, if that's your workflow:
The problem does not lie in InDesign. You can select, copy, and then paste many pages of text at once in InDesign. I think it might be because you cannot select-and-then-copy multiple pages in your PDF viewer. Ask in the Acrobat forum about that. (Uh, that is, if you are using Acrobat. If you have some other PDF viewer software, find a forum for that.)

  • Automatically create new slide after pasting large block of text?

    Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to have Keynote automatically create new slides if I paste text that doesn't fit into a single slide? The biggest time waster I've encountered is the apparent requirement to break up large chunks of text manually.
If Keynote does not do this, any ideas as to an Applescript or something that could help?
    Much appreciated

I usually try dragging from the bottom up in Web pages, it can be tricky getting at the part you want without the extraneous formatting, since that is concealed from you and web designers use many different methods for layout.
That's why pasting into a plain text document is a good idea to shake off the web formatting, otherwise you are groping around whatever Pages has interpreted the formatting to mean. Even browsers don't get this all right.
If the original was formatted as a table which won't fit one of the cells on a Pages page, it just pops and won't continue because Pages does not allow breaks in mid cell. If the cells are small enough to fit and you have pasted the table inline in the main text body of a WP file (between the margins) it will flow.

Tap and hold the text you want to copy, then tap Copy.

  • Muse Slows Down on Large Blocks of Text

    Hi...
I'm a new user to using Adobe Muse 2.3 (trial version) so forgive me if this has been answered before. I'm having big problems when I insert large blocks of text, I have tried both cut and pasting and placing text in Muse but when I do Muse seems to slow down to almost a crawl. When I try to add more text by typing the text seems to "lag" onto the screen instead of appearing straight away, also adding styles I have made to the text takes longer than it should and in some cases I get a muse "not responding" message in the titlebar. The muse file itself is only 720k so not very big in size and I have 8GB of ram so I don't think that's the problem, it's only text after all.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?, it's really annoying because it virtually makes the program un-useable and I cannot continue with my project.
Thank you  in advance for any answers or information you can give me.

Thank you for the reply, since text is "content" there really should not be any reason why it can't handle long blocks of text. I pasted in a block of text that contained over 1k+ words. This is a site I'm working on for someone else, it's for quite a technical peice of software and he wants the use and operation information on the website. I explained it would be probably best suited in a pdf or help file but he insists hence the long blocks of text. I updated Adobe AIR and flash and that has made a slight difference but still the performance isn't that great.
I will try and break up the text into text boxes to see if it will help but this seems to be an inefficient way of doing things. I'm hoping that Muse will have some optimisations for longer text flows in future.
    Thank you.

  • ? How do I delete large blocks of empty space with Adobe Acrobat Pro?

How do I delete large blocks of empty space with Adobe Acrobat Pro?

How can you delete "empty space"? If you mean that you want to delete lines,
like in Word, so that the text afterwards will go "up the page", then you're
out of luck. You should do that in the original file, and then re-create the
    PDF.

  • Can I cut, copy and paste a block of text in PL/SQL Developer?

I have been using TextPad to put together SQL statements by using the cut, copy and pasting of BLOCKS of text.
    Example:
I copy the describe of a table, replace varchar, number, date will 10 spaces and then copy the column names in a block and paste it further down the TextPad.
Then I join the lines into one string, replace the spaces with commas
Then I insert in front of the column name the INSERT INTO table_name(
Then I get the values by copying from somewhere else and paste then in block text where they need to go. ETC, ETC.
    Thank you, Bill

In 2.0 you should be able to just type
    INSERT INTO emp(
and do multiple selections from code completion list of suggested emp columns (by holding ctrl or shift key). Same for "select" and "from" clauses (with optional auto aliasing).

  • Web item for a custom large block of text

    Hi all,
I want to include a large block of text in one of my web templates. I could just type it there in a table or something like that, but I'd like it to have the same look and feel as the rest of the web items.
Is there any web item I can use to include that text, so that I can have the nice blue, collapsible boxes, with a title and all the works?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Assign a BEX-style-class to your text.
You could insert your text into a cell of a table and assign a style to that cell.
    <td class=SAPBEXstdItem>'your text'</td>

  • Can I import my address book into Adobe Send?

How do I import my address book into Adobe Send?

    Hi propacific,
There is no way to port your address book into Adobe Send, but if you use Send through Adobe Reader, you can access your local address book. And, if you're on Windows, you can use the Outlook plug-in for Adobe Send so you can send directly from Outlook. You can download the plug-in from here: Send Large Files Online - Share, Control, Track & Manage | Adobe Send

  • How can I import text produced in Pages into Adobe inDesign?

How can I import text produced in Pages into Adobe inDesign?

    Menu > File > Export > Word .doc/x
I doubt it will do graphics and layout, but maybe, depending on your version of Indesign you may hit lucky (but probably not).

  • TS4002 icloud email deletes large blocks of text randomly

In a windows based environment, icloud email deletes large blocks of text randomly. So while typing emails, often the entire body of text is deleted randomly.  Any solution for this problem?

Thanks Tikibar1.  Sadly, I thought I had done my due diligence (search) prior to posting.  But, clearly not :-(   Yes, this pretty much describes my experience (in much more colorful and emotional tones ;-)
Will continue to follow the other thread and consider other more official channels suggested there (so I too can perform a factory reset :-(
    thanks again...

  • Pages into Adobe InDesign

Is it possible to convert a Pages document into Adobe InDesign?

I'm wondering the same thing, since I just bought iWork '05 because of the cool layouts. I use PageMaker in Classic mode and have slowly buy surely, made the move to InDesign CS.
With Pages now in the picture, I'd like to know that info, which can't be found easily on Google. If Pages works with InDesign.
The only thing I know is that you can make PDFs of your designs and import them into your InDesign document all ready to go. (Since you're already using Pages to create your designs, makes sense to do everything that you need to do there, and then import it as a PDF, all packaged up into InDesign. If you want to do designs in InDesign, do everything there).

  • What is the best way to split large blocks of text into smaller blocks?

Hello, I have several pages with 2,000 word articles of text. As you can imagine these pages are not terribly interesting design-wise, something I plan to change.
The first thing I need to do is split up these blocks of text into much smaller blocks so that they can easily be moved around and independently manipulated. What's the quickest way to do this in Muse?

You can create different text frames and copy the text, which if you wish you can group them together which will help in moving them around on page.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Add style to large block of text without affecting existing styles within that text

    Hello! First post here.
I have a long document of text that mostly does not have text styles attached (this was a mistake). However, there is a large number of areas of styled text within.
Is there a way to select all the text and apply a style to only the unstyled text without affecting the existing styles?
Doing this by hand text block by text block would take a long long time.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    THX!

What do you mean by "unstyled text"? It must have some definition, anyway.
Like others, [No Paragraph Style] and [Basic paragraph] are searchable, too.
boomshakalaka! Thanks! Im familiar with this panel but didnt see how to specify 'Character Style: [No Character Style]'.

  • Update 4.1.2 deleting large blocks of text following backspace correction

OK, this is a difficult for me to explain, but here goes nothing.  I have been having an issue since the update.  When typing a message, when I backspace to correct a wrong word/spelling, and then select the correct word from the predictive text bar, most of my message gets erased and replaced with the one word I selected.  Even weirder, the word gets inserted in between the few characters of remaining text.  The first couple times it happened, I thought I had accidentally selected the block of text with my cursor, but that was not the case.  The text is not selected, but acts as though it is and gets overwritten/deleted.  This is happening in Messaging and Gmail (and I am assuming all other typing applications).
Is anyone else having this issue?  It is making me wan to throw my phone out the window!  Please let me know if you know a fix for this.

Mine is doing the same thing!  I got the update last night and it is deleting practically my entire message when I backspace.  Also, the puncuation options do not pop up anymore like they used to at the top of the keyboard unless you hit space and then backspace.
I'm right there with you...I want to throw this thing out the window.  I've seen some cool things this update did, but things I hardly ever would use.  The fact it messed with my texting (something I do a lot) has really ****** me off.
