Pasting Text from Clipboard

I know there is a simple answer to this, but I cannot find
it. The code I attached to this post yields a security error of the
following nature:
SecurityError: Error #2179: The Clipboard.generalClipboard
object may only be read while processing a flash.events.Event.PASTE
event.
Thoughts anyone?

Makes a whole lot of sense, especially from the security
angle. I'm going to log a request for this to be officially
evaluated. It should be expected, and certainly feasible without
violating the security model, that when dealing with a text API
that we should be able to work with clipboard contents. Perhaps
consider restrictions that only allow text data into the component
and rejecting binary data?
Expecting users to rely on keyboard shortcuts or context
menus with my user base is kind of a mistake. It's simple enough
for engineers but not so much for teachers. Yes, an oxymoron at its
finest.

CS6 doesn't paste latest text from clipboard but older one

OSX 10.8.2, InDesign CS6
I cannot paste text from word mac 2011 in Indesign CS6. When I try to paste the text in InDesign the text from before the current copying appears. (although the right text is in the clipboard). The problem is that InDesign shuts down after trying this 3-4 times.
Does anyone know this problem and has a solution?

No, its correct but not the text from the last copying but the one before.
This is how it goes:
1. I copy text from word
2. Pasting in InDesign without any problems
3. Copying another text from word
4. Pasting in InDesign show the text from step 2 and not the copied text from step 3
5. delete the pasted text
6. Pasting again shows the correct text from step 3
after repeating this 3-4 time InDesign quits

How do I cut and paste text from a Word doc to my yahoo email?

I am suddenly unable to cut and paste from a Word document into the body of my yahoo email. I never had this problem before, but recently trying to paste my resume into the site 4entertainmentjobs.com, I ran into trouble. I followed your instructions and found my profile folder, but there was no user.js file in there. I created one in text edit and replaced mozilla.org with 4entertainmentjobs.com, but it still didn't work. Today I tried to go back and put Mozilla back in, but I still cannot get it to work. Then I downloaded your add-on "allow clipboard". That did not work either.

Pasting text from other apps not always work

Is this a known problem or any way to avoid it? I usually receive emails with copy of text that was already checked for spelling errors, and when I try to copy the text from the email to AE and paste it into the text tool, it does not work 90% of the time, and if it works, it works only once, the next time I copy paste something it keeps always pasting the same old text. I noticed this on all the computers where I have AE installed.

Just a quick update.
This problem has resurfaced AE CS6 (mac OS 10.8.x) this time.
The copy/paste into the search bar doesn't seem to work anymore.
I sent Aobde a note via their Bug/reports page - - (I'd suggest everyone do that.)
So far, my only working solution is to quit/restart AE. --
A shame for any 21st century software not to copy/paste formatted, or unformatted text.
(BTW - the copy/paste text from within AE comps/layers works fine, just not clipboard content from outside . . . I'm going to poke around at a few likely culprits and attempt to troubleshoot a solution for my needs, but I can say it's a different problem than my Oct. 2010 post above.)

Cannot paste text from CS3 to Word or Notepad.

Cannot paste text from Photoshop CS3 to Word or Notepad or anything else. CAN paste from Word and Notepad TO Photoshop CS3. CAN paste within Photoshop CS3.
(I HAVE applied the clipboard registry fix mentioned elsewhere.)

There is a setting in the General Preferences you need to have checked to enable "Export to Clipboard". Do you have this entry checked? After you set this, you may have to re-start PS3 to activate the new setting.

ID CS4 slow after pasting text from MS Word

Each time I paste text from a Word document into my ID CS4 document, ID begins to run very slowly. I can't even type properly. Has anyone else seen this?
I have fixed this problem by copying all the text and pasting in the a new document (I thought the document was possibly corrupted). This fixed the problem, but it has happened multiple times now. Much of my information comes from engineers' word documents, so this is not convenient.

The best I can tell, it is related to the cross references, and that it happened after pasting was coincedental. It could have been that pasting made a cross referenced section move to another page, so it was trying to update.
The cross references are a little buggy:
EVERY time I create a cross ref from the cross ref menu (in the cross ref window), ID CS4 (with all patches) crashes. If I create them from the Text menu (at the top), it doesn't crash.
If you have a large number of cross refs in a doc, it becomes slow.
When slowness occurs, I have found that updating the cross refs and then resolving all errors in the cross ref window usually clears it up.

Pages crashed after pasting text from email - no longer able to access that document

I was working on a Pages document on my iPad, and after pasting text from an email, Pages closed. As of then, I was no longer able to open or email the document, whether on Pages itself, on iCloud or on iTunes. I worked two hours on this important document and am not sure whether this can be recovered. Any support would be most appreciated.

This is why I asked Apple to edit the entries as I showed above.
Of course, it would be useful to edit also the entry available in the iOS area.
Replace iWork for iOS by iWork (Keynote, Numbers, Pages) for iOS
or better add three entries :
Keynote for iOS
Numbers for iOS
Pages for iOS
Having four entries pointing to the same forum would not be perfect but at least it would be clear and would be a viable scheme during the time required by engineers to find a way to split the existing iWork for iOS forum in three ones.

Preview - Cannot copy and paste text from pdf

Hi there ...
I usually have no problem copying and pasting text from a pdf using Preview ...
However .. I recently received a pdf ... and there is no way it will highlight the text to copy ...
The older pdf's are not affected ...
I did a get info on the pdf ... it's not locked ... and it was made by Adobe In Design CS2
I tried opening it with Adobe Reader 9 ...... but still no luck
IN my search .. I noticed one other person had the same problem ... but he didn't get any responses..

If it's behind something else then you can open it in Illustrator and select the specific object you want. If it's rasterized then no.

I can't paste text from external sources into Photoshop CC 2014.

Since a few days I'm not able to paste texts from external sources into Photoshop CC 2014.
I never have problems with Photoshop CC before.
I have the new iOS Yosemite installed in my macbook.
It's really frustrating, can someone help please?

I have basically the same setup, except on a Mac Mini. I am unable to reproduce your problem. Double check that you are copying the original text in the first place, and then make sure you are pasting into a text layer as you cannot paste into a regular Photoshop layer -- nothing will happen. Create a text layer by clicking on a regular layer with the text tool, the T in the tool box. The new layer will show up in the layers panel identified by the first line of the text.

Why am I no longer able to copy and paste text from a website?

I am trying to copy and past text from a website and it will not even let me select it. I am very familiar with how to do this, and it worked yesterday on the same page in safari. Please advise if anyone knows how to fix this.

Cp5 - Pasting text from Notepad into a text box

I posted this message in the "Getting Started Forum" but there isn't a whole lot of activity in that forum.
Hopefully someone can help me because I have a lot of text to paste into a lesson.
This seems like such an elementary requirement and I am almost certain that I have done this before but...for some reason, copying text from Windows Notepad into a Captivate 5 text box just isn't working today.
Basically, the paste option is simply not available!
Yes, I can copy paste into other applications; Captivate is the only application that is blocking this Windows function.
If I insert a Text Entry Box, I am able to paste single lines of text (from Notepad) but obviously this isn't going to work as a text box.
Is this by design or has something gone haywire?
Question, how do I get pre-written text (i.e. from Notepad) into Captivate?

I have had that happen to me too. I am always copying and pasting into my Captivate projects. But sometimes the paste option is just not available. What I have done, is to save everything and close the application and start it again. Seems there's a lot of little irritating things like that with Captivate, that's corrected with a restart. Hope this helps!

Pasting text from word replaces Keynote styles

I get documents that are styled in Word that I have to convert to Keynote. Even though my text boxes are styled in the Master Slides, when I copy and paste text from word it comes in with all of word's formatting and disregard's Keynote's styling for that text box. I tried to convert the word docs to rtf or just plain text, but the text just imports without Keynote's styling applied to it. It would be very tedious to have to style each text box as I bring it in to Keynote. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the workflow less painful?

Pasting text from Microsoft Word

I am working in InDesign on a Windows XP computer. When I paste text from Microsoft Word into InDesign the text loses its formatting such as italics and bold. Is there any way to maintain that formatting? I am supplied with this text by a client and I have so much formatting to do that the projects take me longer than necessary.

How to copy and paste text from a web site viewed in Chrome using the Xperia z3v?

I have searched high and low for a way to copy and paste text from a web site in Chrome using the Xperia z3v. I've tried a long tap, a double tap, a triple tap - nothing works. I am able to select text, copy and paste it in a Word doc, however. There must be some way to do this on a web site in Chrome. I'm certain I am not trying to select text that is really an image.
