Pata freezes my laptop

Hi, i changed today to 2.6.24 kernel from testing with the pata hook for mkinitcpio. Former times i always used ide hook so far.
So when i put in a dvd with photos my laptop freezes when nautilus is generating thumnails.

Sync freezes my laptop

I have the following set up: IPod touch 32GB, Vista Business OS and a new Vaio BX61MN. When I go to sync my touch with ITunes after transferring around 50 songs from my 3,000 library across to the touch......it freezes.
Laptop becomes totally frozen and after 30 mins this message comes up +"IPoint.exe has stopped working"+ I also get a separate box which says +"The iTunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-1450)"+
What I believe is happening here is that iTunes has problems accessing data off the SATA hard drive and so is freezing.
This is what I have been doing:
1) Turn on laptop.
2) Connect iPod touch to laptop to open ITunes.
3) IPod and iTunes automatically begin to sync.
4) 3,000ish songs start to sync, after 40 to 120 songs sync copy across to my ipod touch the laptop freezes up.
At this time I cannot shut iTunes’s down or open up any other programme. The whole thing sits there like a lemon for ages, 30 mins plus. I have recently discovered that if I unplug the iPod (which I hate to do unless by the correct methods) then the laptop gets back some functionality but it runs as if 25megs of ram were installed, runs like a pig until I reboot which can take 30 mins to 3 hours in one case.
If I switch sync off then I can drag the entire library into my touch with no problems, it all transfers across but after that when I switch sync back on.......it freezes again even though it is not now moving songs onto my iPod.
Any help would be great.

Mozilla Firefox won't start and it freezes my laptop whenever I try to open it. What do I do?

Last May, I was using my laptop without its battery and it was only plugged to avoid damaging the battery since it was already fully charged. I'm not sure if I'm understanding but if I am then I'm not sure why you are turning your Wi-Fi off and on. It should automatically connect and use your Wi-Fi when it is available and use your cellular data connection when Wi-Fi is not available. I haven't turned either off ever. Since yesterday mozilla has been freezing my laptop, it won't even let me uninstall it. Evertime I click on a bookmark it freezes right up. Can't even uninstall

The details are in my question. I can not use Mozilla at all. I open the web browser and as soon as I click on any saved book mark my whole pc freezes. I have to hold the start up button to shut it down (and that is not good for my laptop). I tried to uninstall and it will not, keeps freezing. Tried to open in safe mode and if freezes again. I've used Mozilla for probably 6 years can you please suggest something to fix this or I will have to use another browser.

If you recently did a windows update then do a system restore and see if when you restore it works if than uninstall mozilla do your windows update and reinstall mozilla that should fix the problem.

Ipad 2 is freezing my laptop when i plug it in to itunes!!!

since i updated it, it wont plug into my laptop without freezing the whole thing but my iphone 4 is fine when plugged in?

Im so sick of it.... My Ipad 2 worked fine until I tried to update it....i.e...make it better!!!!! Im close to just chucking it in a drawer...I was a massive apple fan until this and I'll be damned if Im going to pay them £70 for something that is their fault in the first place. Thats just them being another greed corporation. I have the 4S and Ive had every single ipod since they come out. Im not going to buy another one.
If I get mine working again then I'll update you and tell you how Ive done it. However, Apple can take a running jump if they think Im gona pay them to fix it though!!!!

2nd gen shuffle freezes my laptop pc

I was just given a 2nd gen shuffle as a present. Last week I intalled itunes on my lenovo laptop (running windows xp), and all worked great for 1 week. then, suddenly, one day i plugged my shuffle into its dock, and my laptop froze. since then, i cannot get things to work right.
Details:
- ipod shuffle has constant amber light blinking when in dock; works normally otherwise, charges fine, etc
- ipod shuffle works fine w/ songs it already has onboard, but is not recognized by itunes anymore
- when pulling up my windows task manager while pc is frozen, I've noticed that my shuffle is causing my computer to use 100% of its cpu capacity. Removing the shuffle does not stop this. the only way to remedy this is to tell the task manager to "end process" for the ipod services .exe file, which then returns my pc to normal function. Several experiments show that as soon as my pc recognizes the ipod and starts running that services program, cpu usage hit 100% immediately and the computer freezes again.
- "reset","retry", "restart" all tried with no success
- "reinstall" tried, with no success. I had just installed the latest itunes and it worked great for that first week, anyways, so out-of-date software not likely to be the culprit
- "restore" not possible, because itunes never recognizes that my shuffle is docked now
- at no point have I recieved any error messages from either itunes or windows
Basically, the thing is useless now, except for the songs already on it. Got any ideas?

Jdeveloper freezes up laptop

Hi,
I've tried using the following versions of JDeveloper unsuccessfully on an Gateway AMD Turion64 dual core, 2GB RAM running Windows Vista: 10.1.3.1, 10.1.3.2, 10.1.3.3 & 11.1.1.
I've had the most luck with 10.1.3.3 and made it though the 'Introduction to the JDeveloper IDE' tutorial without problem.
However, when following the 'Database Development with JDeveloper' tutorial, I drag the DEPARTMENTS and EMPLOYEES tables onto the 'HRDiagram' and Jdeveloper freezes. My entire laptop locks up. No Caps locks, no CTL-ALT-DEL, nothing. I have to reboot. This is repeatable. In fact, if I do not follow the tutorial and simply use the Diagram window, it will happen immediately after I click in the Diagram window and then click outside of it.
Any help appreciated.

Nothing. Just downloaded the *.zip's from Oracle. In fact I downloaded 10.1.3.3 twice just to be sure. Same behavior.
Any other thoughts?

Video Playback Pauses, freezes on laptop

My Video playback (iTunes 6.0.5- G4 Laptop 15" titanium) constantly pauses and freezes at key points during playback. It will make it approx. half way through a show, then start jumping and freezing. Any Suggestions?

It's pretty annoying. 1/2 a show will play fine then all at once the pauses and spinning wheel is so bad that you can't watch the rest of the movie.
No answers or clues as of yet. I guess no one else has the problem.

Default kernel config question: acpi video freezes my laptop

Hi,
I have a Samsung X60 laptop that freezes when the acpi video module is loaded. The default Arch kernel config (and the derived suspend2 one) includes as built-in some of the acpi code (including the video bit). I'm interested to learn why they are included as built in, and if there is a way to selectively skip the acpi video built-in bit of code? (more selectively than acpi=off as a kernel parameter). Would it be reasonable to request a change to the default kernel config?

the acpi video module is reasonably new and it can be compiled as a module iirc, so it shouldnt be any harm to have it compiled as such.

Software update freezes the laptop

My laptop crashed and i had to reinstall os x 10.6 from the DVD
now everytime i click the "software update" the whole laptop freezes and doesnt work again no matter how long i wait, and i just have to restart it

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 17 Notebook and issues with the mouse freezing on Windows Vista. Here is a link to Touchpad troubleshooting.
The section marked TouchPad properties page on the left side has a restore defaults. Select that button if available.

New song freeze my laptop

When Itunes play a song, it freezes my computer for about 5 seconds. This happens everytime a new song starts, and it occurs aprrox. 10 sec. into the song. I have my songs on a LaCie external harddisk, but it also happens it the music library is on the internal harddisk. Can anybody help me to fix this problem?

ITunes 8.2.1 freezed my laptop

I have got BIG problem from half an hour ago. I have updated iTunes on my MacBook Pro 17" and it restarted, during restart it let the sound like firmare installing (3 sec long) and since then my keyboard and trackpad, mouse... nothing works! it restarts and loads and then freezes. I tried everything, but nothing helps.
If I load it up from OSX DVD (yes, then keyboard is working properly) it just says that "it cannot be installed from this DVD", and that's it.
Please... anybody with same problem or any idea? Thanx

I am have an extremely difficult time understanding you but it sounds to me like your hard drive died. I would suggest that you run AHT to check it out.

Trackpad freezing my laptop

Just today and late yesterday, I've been getting a problem with my MBP that's intermittent but getting more frequent. Was wondering if someone could shed some light on it. Basically my system keeps freezing when I'm using the trackpad. Opened up the console to discover:

I may have the same issue but I have none of the error messages that you have. Mine are all 3rd party software related messages mostly, so I am going to try deleting those software, this has happened to me 3 or 4 times in the last hour for some reason. I have already done all I can I just fresh reformat and install the OS, I dont see what else I can do. I dont have an apple store near me so I am very reluctant to bring it in unless necessary.
anyone else have this problem? i have since stopped using adium as well as this alarm clock app i have and insomniax, will see if it helps
