  • [Answered] List of patches for Solaris 10 SPARC 64 bit!

    Hi All,
Installation document for 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-Bit) does not mention anything about patches required on Solaris 10 (there is a list for Solaris 8 and 9).
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15690/pre_install.htm#sthref110
Can I safely assume that the installation of Solaris 10 contains all the required patches in this case?
    Thanks,

    Hi Satish,
I did not have access to ORACLE metalink so could not able check the doc which you reffered. But Checked the ORACLE installation doc, I suppose that is the required patches for 8 and 9 which you have to make sure of on Solaris 10.
Other wise wait and see for other inputs too.
Hemanth might reply back some thing.

  • Last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 screwed up my kernel

    Hi,
The last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 (sorry I cant remember the patch id, but the revision is 30), available from Sun Update Manager screwed up my system.
The system is still booting but in maintenance mode: smf can't start because of repository corrupted. Given instructions to restore the repository does not work because / filesystem is mounted read-only...
As I am not a solaris expert, I will reinstall it from CD. I hope I won't loose the filesystem.
I was used to blindly trust Sun solaris patches, that was a mistake.
    Laurent.

i dont know why but still i do get default log in into the single mode
    after startup
    Requesting maintenance mode
(See /lib/svc/share/README for aditional information. )
Root password for system maintenance (control-d to bypass):i did removed the patch installed before so now
    SunOS jorgito 5.10 Generic_118844-26 i86pc i386 i86pcand finaly i do have milestone like this
bash-3.00$ svcprop restarter | grep mile

dont know what to do else, also tried to synchronize boot-archive from solaris failsafe ...

  • Kernel patch updation for solaris 10 x86

I have Solaris 10 06/06 installed on x86 machine which is using svm and clustered with another node. The kernel revision is 118855-19 from the uname -a output. I am looking for the kernel patch updation and I heard 118855-36 is the latest one. Shall I go ahead with this patch and what r the dependency patches for this.
If anyone done this please guide me..

Patch 118855-36 is the latest kernel patch for Solaris 10 on x86 and its dependencies are:
    113000-01 117435-02 118344-14 119043-09 119255-14 121264-01 122035-01 123840-01 (or greater)
Whether you should go ahead and install the patch is up to you, if possible try it out on a test box first. For better advice on this matter, I would suggest posting in the Solaris 10 forum as this forum is for the Sun Update Connection, Patch Manager & PatchPro toolsets.

For Solaris 10 x86 the latest offered with smpatch is 125101-07 and yes it may be recommended to patch. Then again you said clustered with sun cluster? You may want to check the documentation and if your machines aren't facing the internet you may wait for 7/07 to hit the street and do an upgrade.

  • Installation of the patch 127576-03 for solaris 10 8/07 for Netra T2000

I am new in Solaris/Unix systems. I need to install a new patch for solaris 10 8/07, which is the 127576-03. I want to read the install information and I have seen in this website, where I downloaded the patch, that the install information is held in the Install.info file, but I don't know where this file is. If I would have to get such file from the 127576.jar file, could you anyone tell me how to get it, please?

    http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patches/patch-access
download patch and unzip it. Install.info is one of files included in archive

    Moderator Advice:
    Welcome to the OTN forums.
This is your very first post to the forums, so before you go any further, a piece of advice:
When you give your post a title of "Hi All" it does not tell anyone anything about what your inquiry might be.
The topic title that you place onto each one of your posts is just as important as what you place into your post. It tells everyone whether they need to spend any time with it. It tells everyone whether you are worth spending time with, whether you will be able to understand what they type in a reply, how technical they can be in a response.
These are technical forums. They are not chat rooms for casual feel-good gatherings. They are not `blogs`. The site is also NOT a way to make contact to Oracle's technical support staff. The OTN community is from the entire globe and is from end-users that happen to have an interest in the topics you read here.
Spend some time reading the forum FAQ,
    https://wikis.oracle.com/display/Forums/Forums+FAQ
which is linked at the top corner of every page.
Also, spend some time with the forums Terms Of Use
    http://www.oracle.com/us/legal/terms/index.html
which is linked at the bottom of every page.
In particular, spend some time reviewing section #6 in that T.O.U.
When you make your posts more informative and easier to read then responses will be more helpful.
... now go back and edit your post. Change the title to something that better describes your actual question.

    Hi,
    Pls any to help me.
How can i know the latest patches is released by sun microsystem (solaris 10 - sparc & x86) ?
    Thanks in Advance

    Start here:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patches/patch-access
    and here:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patchpage
You may need to sign up for a free SunSolve account.
You can download README files that show all the latest patches for latest versions, view individual patch information, etc. You need a subscription to download the full patch clusters, but you can download individual patches for free if they are security/bug fixes.

  • Patch 140476-01 breaks update manager for Solaris 9.

I just noticed that deferred patches werent being applied on my solaris 9 machines.
It turns out that patch 140476-01 which updates the certificates also manages to delete the file /etc/init.d/installupdates.
Since that shutdown script is the thing that applies the deferred patches, not surprisingly they're no longer being installed.
That file is no longer needed on solaris 10 since it got converted to a service, but its still needed on solaris 9...
It seems lately that the update connection software gets broken with monotonous regularity.
The solaris 10 version is finally working properly again after many months. But now the solaris 9 version is broken.
    Not your best work, Sun...

    Forum Moderator:
While most of my systems are Solaris 10, I still have one rarely used S9 system that has 140476-01 that deleted /etc/init.d/installupdates. Is there any update on when we can expect 140476-02 (presumably ....) that will fix this issue?
    Thanks,
    John
p.s. From my perspective, updatemanager has been working very nicely on S10_x86 for several months .... I have not experienced any of the "hanging" during the installation of multiple patches that were problematic for some time. Thank you and your updatemanager colleagues for your diligence in improving this important tool.

  • Announcement Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available

Oracle9iAS Portal Patch Release 3.0.9.8.3 For Solaris is now available for download from metalink. Bugnumber for the patch release is 2131815.
You must install this patch release over an Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2 installation of Oracle9iAS Portal. You can install it over either a production installation (3.0.9.8.0) or a patched installation (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). This patch release is cumulative and it incorporates the changes from the earlier patches (3.0.9.8.1, 3.0.9.8.2). The installation instructions are in README.TXT and RELNOTES.HTM contained in the patch release.
The patch will be available for other platforms by the end of May.

I saw this warning in the content area API home page.
Warning - The Content Area APIs available in 3.0.8.x and 3.0.9.x will not work with Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2. They are not available with this release
    Will there be other API's?
Are you removing the concept of loading an item through APIs?
    Thanks in advance
    Harish

  • Patch Manager for Solaris 9 9/05

I am trying to locate the Patch Manager download for Solaris 9 9/05 but all I have been able to locate on the downloads site is the version for Solaris 8. Does anyone have a link to the Solaris 9 version? Thanks.

Exactly, whith that configuration all works well (if my server is connected to Internet).
The problem is when I have another server, not connected to Internet, that requires new patches.
If I have good understood I can install patch manager(2.0) on that server, require patches to my local patch server and if the patches required aren't on the disk the local patch server requires them to Sun. During this request it seems that my local patch server doesn't connect trough the proxy (snoop doesn't report connections). even if the configuration is set. (I have tried a reboot too).

  • Smpatch and Recommended Patches for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Is there any way to make smpatch only retrieve recommended patches for Solaris 10 ?
I've seen several forum posts saying to use
    smpatch set patchpro.patchset=recommended
but other posters indicate that this only works for Solaris 9 (additionally, it doesn't seem to work at all currently:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve recommended.zip: Not Found )
As far as I'm aware, Sun's patching policy is to apply the Recommended patches, as well as any that address specific issues you are having. This seems to contrast with the behaviour of smpatch which grabs all patches..

    Hi.
Depending on your hardware, you can use the following in place of 'current' in patchpro.patchset to get recommended patches:
    sunu45 = Sun Ultra45/Ultra25 Recommended
sftxk = Sun Fire T1000/T2000 Recommended
    sfv2x5 = Sun Fire V215/245 Recommended
    sfv445 = Sun Fire V445 Recommended
    Mod.
