Patch 107081-33.zip
I am having a devil of a time trying to download the patch
107081-33.zip. I have tried all day on last Friday and yet again Monday
8/13/01 . I am not having the luck of geting the entire patch. Our
web server is doing fine here. One thing I noticed is that I have
brought through less bits today than on Friday.
Also, why is it that some of the patches, especially
this one, has a zip
extension? I have also tried unzipping it on an NT system then FTPing
all of the files (binary of course) to my solaris system, and then
moving forward with the patchadd, etc..., but I can't even do the
patchadd with the moved over files. Why do I need to use an NT system
to uncompress this patch? I read through the readme file for this
particular patch, it says that it's for sparc, I have a sparc....I'm
just a little confused.
When I tried gunzip against the file, bringing
it to the sparc system, I
got the following:
gunzip 107081-33.zip
gunzip: 107081-33.zip: unknown suffix -- ignored
then, I renamed it with a .Z extension and...
gunzip 107081-33.Z
gunzip: 107081-33.Z has more than one entry -- unchanged
Could you help me out here? Thanks.
George,
Thank you for your reply. First of all, I had used your suggestion...I renamed the file to a .gz and it definitely grabbed ALL of the bits this time. (I'm so happy). And I used the unzip command against it, and things are getting better. Thank you.

Tech Stack Validation Patch 4318672 - appsutil.zip issue
I am working on upgrading 11.5.9 - 11.5.10.2. I recently installed rollup patch 8217898. +(Pre-Update step #3)+
The install went successfully, I created the appsutil.zip, moved it to the DB server unpacked everything looked normal. The next step said to install the Technology Stack Validation Patch 4318672. +(Pre-Update step #4)+
I applied the patch, then the next step was to create the appsutil.zip file again. I did and moved it to the DB server. It next asks you to run the TXKScript.pl which runs the technology stack validation utility.
I get the error that the SID_Server.xml file is missing. The file is not in the new appsutil directory created. It was however in the previous one created when I installed 8217898.
I reapplied 8217898 and the appsutil.zip still creates without the SID_Server.xml file as well as a couple directories.

It seems I missed a step, but going back through the instructions I can't seem to find anything. Any ideas?
ThanksI looked through just about every log that I could find actually, mostly trying to figure out what the different patches & process did, where it looked for things, etc. Most of the logs files I read through were located $APPL_TOP/admin/<SID>_<hostname>/log
The actual step that seemed to solve the problem was going through the steps for in Section #8 "Migrating to AutoConfig on the Database Tier" in document 165195.1 Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations with Oracle Applications 11i
We were using Autoconfig already so I am not sure exactly why that had to be done, but it re-created everything I needed.
But on a positive note as I have been going through each step of this process I have been learning quite a bit about where all these files live and how they interact.
Looking for how to verify in SIGNON_PASSWORD_HARD_TO_GUESS is set to N as required. I have been through all the documents listed, and they say what it is and what it does but I can't seem to find the screen in the application that has it defined. I know that it is N already because we can use passwords that are not complex, but I just wanted to dig through and see it and figure where all that side of things lives.
Thanks again for your help -

Does Financial Reporting Studio need to be uninstalled before patching?
Hi Guys,
Moving forward on my patch plan, I am stuck again, this time with the ambiguity in the documentation. I am trying to apply the Financial Reporting Patch 13997553. While going through the documentation, I found two ambiguous statements. In step2, the doc says that I need to uninstall the FR studio (Doesnt say on which machine I need to uninstall). Later in step9, it says, on FR studio Machines, uninstall the FR studio.
As per my assumption, in step2, I have to uninstall it from the Server and in Step9 I need to unistall it from my local machine. But the document never talked about re-installing the FR studio on server. What am I missing here?
Help appreciated. Thanks!
Here's part of readme which confused me -
APPLYING THE PATCH_
The section includes important information about applying this patch for Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition.
To apply this patch:
1. Shut down all services and servlet instances related to the Oracle Hyperion EPM Release 11.1.2.2.00 installation.
2. Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
3. On On the Financial Reporting server machines; Download and unzip the downloaded patch file, <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip, to the <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch directory (by default, Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/OPatch).
NOTE: <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip is the name that My Oracle Support assigns to this patch. When you download the file, a message indicates the file name.
4. On On the Financial Reporting server machines, from a command line, change the directory to <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch.
5. To apply the patch, enter the following command on one line:
Windows:
opatch.bat apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>
-jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29
NOTE: The default for <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1. The default for <MIDDLEWARE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware.
UNIX/Linux:
./opatch apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29 -invPtrLoc <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/oraInst.loc
NOTE: The default for <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> is $HOME/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1. The default for <MIDDLEWARE_HOME> is $HOME/Oracle/Middleware.
6. Delete the Financial Reporting precompiled jsp files located at: <ORACLE_HOME>\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\precompiled\hr
7. Restart Oracle Hyperion EPM services and servlets.
8. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.
“For WebSphere deployments, you must use EPM System Configurator to redeploy the Web application.”
9. On the Financial Reporting Studio machines; Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
10. Connect to the EPM Workspace machine that was patched in Step 3. Download the Financial Reporting Studio installer from the EPM Workspace menu: From the Tools menu, select Install and then select Financial Reporting Studio and then launch the installer. Follow the installation guide to install the Financial Reporting Studio to the location you want.
11. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.JohnGoodwin wrote:
Uninstall the FR studio on any machines that it has been installed on, then once patched you can download the latest FR Studio from workspace and then install.
You will find that it is installed by going to the start menu - Oracle - Financial Reporting StudioSo if i got you right,
-I need to uninstall the FR studio from all the machines (including the server).
-Apply the Patch.
-Install FR studio back again
And this whole process has nothing to do with Financial Reporting Web App.

Can't unzip Patch file for OBIEE release 11.1.1.6.4
Hi,
When i try to unzip the patch file p14285344_111164_Generic.zip for 11.1.1.6.4 on Linux x64 i get the following message
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of p14285344_111164_Generic.zip or
p14285344_111164_Generic.zip.zip, and cannot find p14285344_111164_Generic.zip.ZIP, period.
The other files making up the 11.1.1.6.4 release unzip ok.
I've seen this issue with other patch files for different releases.
Anyone seen this before and know why this is?
RgdsLooks like the .zip file is got disconnect during download. To confirm the same try to unzip on Windows.
I've downloaded it and unzipped with no issues.
BTW: Try this command
jar xvf p14285344_111164_Generic.zip

Hi all
I am running on <b>MI SP15 with MAM 2.5</b>
I downloaded the DB2E patch <b>db2eV822.zip</b> from SDN downloads and deplyed in my client with MAM2.5 application
In SP15 installation Guide it is mentioned to change entries in Mobileengine.config if we are using FLash card, in my case i am not using Flash cad in my device but want to test the performance using db2e
Can any one guide me in this aspect.
Do i need to change the entries even in Laptop Client also if I deploy in laptop Client ??
thanks
Message was edited by: sam sHi sam,
If you do not need additional funcionalities using DB2E , then you do not have to explicitely change the MobileEngine.config file.
The main thing to note is ,after the fresh installation of MI Client , this DB2E file must be the first application installed on the client device. During first Sync this must happen .
If u are using role synchronization for deploying applications and add-ons in your client devices , and you have to install one application also at the first installation , you have to create one installation sequence for your applications which are to be
installed. Your DB2E data base add-on must have the installation order 1.
Just refer this forum for help.
Re: Regarding DB2E!
refer this also ..

Patches for Installing Oracle 9i on Red Hat Enterprise LINUX 3.0 AS
I recently purchased An Oracle Database Enterprise Edition Trial License.
I am attempting to install Oracle 9i on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3 (RHEL AS 3).
After several unsuccessful attempts and consultation with the FAQs available on the Oracle site I have discovered
that it can not be installed without the following patches.
P3095277_9204_LINUX.zip
P3238244_9204_LINUX.zip
P2617419_210_GENERIC.zip
P3006854_9204_LINUX.zip
P3119415_9204_LINUX.zip
Can anyone tell me how I can aquire these patches?
This is for an eval of the product on the platform mentioned above. If I can not complete a successful install,
there is no way for my company to evaluate the product
and eventually purchase it.
You can contact me at this email address [email protected]Daer suneetkapoor:
I am looking for P3006854_9204_LINUX.zip in order that can be properly able to install oracle9i on Linux AS 3. And I saw you to reply the message on forum that you can share the patch. Would you mind if you can send an email with the patch for me immediately, I will greatly appreciate it.
thanks you
regards
ellery

Oracle 10.2.0.4 Patching Process - CPU vs Interim Patches
Hi everyone,
We are getting ready to upgrade our AIX 5.2 - 64bit Oracle 10.2.0.2 systems to Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I noted that there was also a single CPU patch available (CPUOct2008_p7375644_10204_AIX5L.zip), as well as a large list of interim patches for 10.2.0.4.
I was wondering what other people do regarding their patching strategy for 10.2.0.4.
eg: After you complete your 10.2.0.4 upgrade, do you:
1. Apply the CPU patch first and then all the interim patches
2. Apply all the interim patches first and the the CPU patch
3. Apply the CPU patch only
4. Apply the interim patches only
5. Its all too hard, so I don't apply any CPU or interim patches ... I hope for the best.
6. Migrate to MaxDB ... its much easier to patch.
Interested in your feedback.
Cheers
Shaun

Oracle changed the CPU patches in 10.2.0.4
Now they are more "granular". it is divided in "molecules"
that way it is possible to install only one "part" of the CPU if there is a conflict.
I was aware of Oracles new approach for 10.2.0.4 of using the molecule patch concept. I still feel uneasy with it given their past track record of patch conflicts.
For that reason, I'd install first all patches and then the CPU.
Have you done this? Has anyone done this? I wouldn't mind hearing from someone that has.
Regarding MaxDB, sorry I never used it
Your missing out on something wonderful. Great database.
Hows this ... I'll apply all of the interim patches, and then the CPU patch on one of our project boxes early next week, and report back if there were any conflicts or issues.
Cheers

I am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. I have downloaded on two separate occasions patch 3 (p6810189_10204_Win32.zip) for 10g R2. When I extract the files from the zip file all I get is the readme.html even though the .zip is ~ 1GB.
Thanks in advance,
Steven.I have a copy of that. No issues. Using the 'properties' of the file on NTFS, I report
size: 986 MB (1,034,079,272 bytes)
size on disk: 986 MB (1,034,080,256 bytes)
And using md5deep.exe (http://md5deep.sourceforge.net/) I report an md5 checksum of 38a59d4a3b902a399119c3ac45f81a41
By the way
- if there is a problem, you might want to report it to Metalink 'cause it's their worry
- I've seen this kind of problem due to transmission errors from either end
- it would have been kind to mention that the product is database - Oracle has several other products that have patch sets -

Problem when apply SAP Bundle Patch for 10.2.0.5
Hi,
We are trying to apply SAP Bundle Patch (SBP) SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip and SAP_102052_201103_SOL64.zip using MOPatch utility. Both MOPatch and OPatch utility have been updated with the latest download from SAP. When applying patch for SAP_102052_201102, most patches went through except for one patch that requires OPatch to be version 10.2.0.5.0. The OPatch version downloaded from SAP is 10.2.0.4.9. Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.
Below are extract of the opatch log file for this patch:

LimHi,
I went to
http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
then
Oracle 10.2.0.5
then
OPatch
The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not 10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one -

Hi All,
I am applying the 11.5.10 CU2 patch
In between the patch application paused and I got the messgae like this:

FAILED: file LoadDTDToClob.class on worker 5.
FAILED: file LoadXSLTToClob.class on worker 6.
ATTENTION: Please fix the above failed worker(s) so the manager can continue.
I found that the fix for the above said is to set the classpath variable in the ieoenv.sh
I found the ieoenv.sh in the following location:
/d01/oracle/visappl/ieo/11.5.0/admin/scripts/VIS_vision/ieoenv.sh
and the content of the ieoenv.sh is as follows:
IEO_TOP=/d01/oracle/visappl/ieo/11.5.0
I could not find the jdbc111.zip file in this location
How can i proceed further to fix this
Many thanks and best regards...plz post the adworkxx.log and try to following also
1- backup your adovars.env file
2- modify your adovar.env file and substitute appbsorg2.zip by appsborg.zip
3-restart the patch
the jdbc111.zip is under
appl_top/abm/11.5.0/jar/jdbc111.zip
appl_top/fnd/11.5.0/java/3rdparty/stdalone/jdbc111.zip
