Patch 122647-04 does not install, no errors

Hello!
I have one machine with Solaris10/x86 here and want to install all patches which are listed by "smpatch analyze". But there is one patch (122647-04) which does not install at all. It is not even listed in /var/sadm/spool/disallowed_patch_list_report.
For about four or five times I did an "smpatch update" and "init 6". The server reboots, but "smpatch analyze" tells me that 122647-04 is needed.
I got this error a few times before, but after the third install the patches got in. What can I try now?
TIA
Stephan

Unfortunately you haven't really given us much to go on.
What I would suggest is that the next time you drop to single user mode and attempt to apply the patch manually. The error message (if it fails) should give you an indication as to what is going wrong.
If the patch is amongst a great number of other patches, there is a chance that smpatch is attempting to install the patches in the wrong order, which would explain why it finally went in after the third attempt.

  • Framemaker XI package does not install - MSI error 1708/1603

    Hi,
I've created a Framemaker XI package with the "Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition", provided the serial number and added patch 11.0.2. The package was successfully created on a network share the installing admin account has full access rights to. Target system is a W2K8 R2 64bit terminal server.
When installing, the msi rolls back, throwing error 1708/1603 after collecting all it's msi properties, nothing gets installed. In the LOCAL folder of %APPDATA%, I find a file called PDApp.log with the follwing content:

I don't know where the problem is, but it seems that installation fails because something is missing in the package?
    Anyone?

    Dear Jeff,
thank you for your answer. I finally managed to get my hands on a German phone number for Adobe support. Unfortunately they denied my service request because we haven't bought a service contract. I stated that I've read that "support for installation problems is usually free of charge", but that is, according to the German support team, only valid for standard, single user installation problems, not for packaging with AAMEE.
Since the phone numer is hard to find (at least it was for me), I publish it here:
                   +49 69 500718 55
I hope that's useful for those of you with "standard installation problems". Me thinks, Germany is a high value target for the NSA, but not for Adobe from an after sales service perspective. (Sorry, couldn't resist... :-) )
I will contact TSC support now via mail. Thanks again Jeff, you're doing a good job here.
    best regards
    Olaf

  • Time capsule does not install - unexpected error

    Hello,
I just purchased my first Time Capsule. I intend to use it as a back up disk - I already have a Cisco Router.
I initially tried setting it up wirelessly - I only plugged it in and I run Airport Utitilty. The software prompted me for some options and I selected "add to an existing network". It asked me for authorization to join my network, it appeared to joint it successuflly but then the message said that it was waiting for Time Capsule. After a long while, an error message appared that read: unexpected error occured. Please try again. There was no error code. I can only press "done". However when I tried again, Airport Utility could not located the Time Capsule.
I reset my Time Capsule by pressing that little reset button but it did not work. I then tried connecting TIme Capsule to my Cisco router via an ethernet cable - the effect is the same.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

Why do I have to have it connected to my router.
TC is a network device. You have no access to the TC via USB.. it is not.. NO WAY.. an external hard disk.. if you wanted an external hard disk, that is what you should have purchased.
The primary idea of the TC is a backup target for Time Machine in laptops. So that you can backup over wireless, without having to connect an external hard disk.
Once you have a desktop an external drive is cheaper, faster, and far better with TM and eliminates overloaded network file transfers.
Getting it connected to my router makes me worry that it is not entirely safe.
Why.. it is safe as any network device can be.. although I have to say Apple could do with a firmware upgrade or three to fix some outstanding issues. A crash of the network will not harm files on the hard disk.. the worst that will happen say with power outage in the middle of a backup is a file will be corrupted. The whole idea of the TM is to keep multiple versions of files available for restore.
Does it have to be connected to my router? What if everything crashes? I will need to find a router before I will be able to restore my data? I will not be able to just "plug in" my Time Capsule into my computer and get my stuff back?
Sorry for all the questions but I asked at a Mac store and I was told that it is the greatest back up on earth....
I guess one rule of marketing is to believe in your product.. to the exclusion of any rational argument or thinking or demonstation to the contrary.. and apple do not lack for total belief in the product. Beware of people who believe their own propaganda.
If your computer crashed.. dead hard disk.. you need to firstly get the hard disk replaced. Then you load onto it an OS or boot from a boot disk boot partition.. depending on what version OS you are using. That boot OS will have network ability sufficient to locate the TC and use TM to restore the computer.
Please do read up how you use TM to do a restore.
Q14-17 of Pondini's excellent knowledge base article.
    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
If you wanted to boot the computer from the backup.. you need an external disk.. with a direct image of the computer. You do this with superduper or even disk utility in the Mac. But you cannot boot from a network drive. Or not with Apple you cannot.. boot from network is rather complex and built into commercial type network computers.
Now let me try to explain why the TC has to be plugged into a router..
The TC is a router. It either must function as router or be plugged into a router in order for your network functionality to provide full services. eg internet.
Please consider a setup where you have a network.. like you already had.. and a TC not plugged into the network.. but creating its own.
You connect by wireless to the network.. but you cannot connect to two wireless devices at once.. so you need to choose.. either connect to the main existing router and use internet.. or connect to the TC.. and do backups but have no internet, no printing, no file sharing.. except with the TC.
Now you can work around it.. you can plug the TC in by ethernet and use the main router by wireless or visa versa.. but you cannot connect to two different network devices on different networks at once unless the networks are joined.
If you want the TC stand alone, I can give you details of the setup.

The current iTunes 10.5 upgrade does not install on Windows 7 and indicates a faulty install package (error 2324). Advice or details on the release date for a proper fix? I'm not able to roll back to the prior version, so I'm stuck in limbo.

There have been a number of problems with installing the latest iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit machines during the last couple of weeks.  You might want to do a search on that topic and see if anyone has a solution.  There have been various versions of the problem but a lot related to errors in the download package or failure to download.

  • Server 3 downloaded but does not install. HTTPS proxy error

    Hi all,
Thanks for looking into my problem.
I had a running OSX Mountain Lion with working OSX server 2.2.
I upgraded to Mavericks (works fine) and server app 2.2 showed does not work. That is normal.
I purchased the new server 3 app (i.e. OSX server for Mavericks) and it downloaded fine.
But when I click the server app icon and the dialogue for installation starts it does not continue to install.
The first question in continue, the server app then shows the license, after acceptance it starts a dialogue
"To configure OSX server on this Mac an administrator account is required. Please enter your password"
Upon entering the correct username and password a cryptic message appears:
"An error occurred while communicating with the secure Web-Proxy-Server. (HTTPS)"
(Or something like that: this was translated from German dialogues)
I cannot find any feedback what this is about. The server 3 app ends then and the server software does not install or configure the OSX server to get it operational again.
    My Question:
What is wrong or am I doing wrong?
    How can I fix this?
    Some more data:
The original OSX server installation was an open domain server.
Upon checking the DNS name as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5300, the scutil --get HostName resolves the correct machine name (FQDN) but the host command does not resolve the correct DNS entry.
I am really stuck on this.
    Can anybody please help?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks already

    Hi all,
I read that one should disable the SSL on a OSX server with Open Domain, prior to installing server 3. To double check: where is that configuration option hidden? How can I do this after upgrading the OSX client to Mavericks?
Seems I have not done that prior to upgrading OSX from mountain lion to mavericks. Now server 2.2 is disabled and I cannot access the server and installing server 3 app does not work.
    Some details:
    As described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5300
    (start snip)
OS X Server: Steps to take before upgrading or migrating the Open Directory database
    Disable SSL
If you have SSL enabled, disable it before upgrading.

  • Treloaded.  Getting a message "iTunes not installed correctly"  Error 7 Windows Error 998.  Removed and retried install got same message??????

Trying to install iTunes on my XP machine after the operating system was reloaded.  Getting a message "iTunes not installed correctly"  Error 7 Windoes Error 998.  Removed and retried installgot same message??????

This can sometimes indicate that one of the other itunes-related software components is damaged. (Usually Apple Application Support, but there are other possibilities beyond that.)
Perhaps first try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Does that get you past the 7?

  • Acrobat Pro 7.0 does not install on Windows 7, how can I get a version that does?

I recently downloaded and tried installing the non-activation version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 on my Windows 7 PC.  After researching the installation error I read some posts that Acrobat 7.0 does not install on Windows 7.  What are my options?

AA 7 will install, but it will not run very cleanly. A lot of things require workarounds. However, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to AA XI for use on Win7 or Win8. AA 7 is not fully compatible and playing with workarounds is not a great use model. Looks like the price just came down also. You will have to purchase the full version. The upgrade version requires at least AA 9.

  • Patch 123910-01 will not install

Patch 123910-10 will not install on some old Ultra-10 and Ultra-80 hosts. I suspect that the sun4u architecture does not support the sun4v categories.

I will take back this statement. Patch 123910-01 does install on the SUN sun4u architectures. I apologize.
I think I confused it with download failures due to a very sluggish connections to the Sun Update Connection Center. I have noticed some very sluggish performance. Sometimes it timed out just reading the readme file.
As of 4:00pm EDT, it (web site) is working fine.

  • My iTunes installation via Windows 7 does not install the Apple Mobile Device Support file

I have followed several suggestions to resolve the problem caused because of my update of iTunes does not install the Apple Mobile Device Support folder, thus making it impossible for me to sync my iPhone 4S to my desktop version of iTunes. I have tried to install the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi file and it almost completes the installation before "rolling back" the entire process and giving me a message that there was a problem with the installation. Has anyone been able to solve this problem. I use Windows 7. I have seem some :"solutions" that seem to work for some people, but not for me, and evidently not for many others? Finally, would it matter if I installed Safari on my desktop and tried to install iTunes using Safari?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I amtrying to install pandora client on iPod touch 8 gb. It does not install app

I am trying to install Pandora's client on iPod Touch from the app store (I also tried from pandora's website). It asks for my apple ID and password, starts dowloading but does not install the app.It does not give me any error messages. I have more than 3 GB on free space.. what's going on?

Try resetting your iPod and then attempt to redownload the App.  To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Patch 137274-01 will not install

Recommended Solaris 10 patch 137274-01 will not install using either updatemanager or patch by itself. It failed on two V210 hosts (01/2006) and on one V480 host (08/2007). patchadd was run and it said:
ERROR: attribute verification of </etc/mnttab> failed
    unable to fix attributes
    Installation of <SUNWcsr> partially failed
When it is run using "smpatch" or "updatemanager", it also leaves a log message failure under "/var/tmp".
The patch worked on an Ultra-80 running (06/2006) however. It also worked on a Sun Blade 100 probably running (06/2006).

The permissions of the file "/etc/mnttab" are "-r--r--r--". For the two Solaris 10 machines that worked, the ownership was "root:root". For the three machines where the patch 137274-01 failed, the ownership was "root:other".
I tried to change the group ownership for "/etc/mnttab" to have group "root". I got a complaint that the operation was not applicable. These memory based files are unique.
Let me know if you still want the full results of any files. The file under /var/tmp had information in the beginning saying that it was an attempt to install a version of the package that already existed. It still had the final error message of "attribute verification" being wrong.

  • LR 5 does not install from my Creative Cloud

LR 5 does not install from Creative Cloud but gives an error message "there were errors during installation (7). I am able to installa the trial version though even during this installation the updating LR 4 cataloque into LR 5 cataloque ended with an error message. Hoever the cataloque was OK in LR 5. The only problem was that aI could not licence the software into Creative Cloud. Still the Creative Cloud recognized the LR 5 and said the installation was OK. However I always had to check the "continue the trial box when starting LR 5. I removed the trial and tried to reinstalla LR five from Creative Cloud with the same result.

    Hi
I have had a chat with Adobe Technical Support and found a solution.
    Log out of Adobe Cloud
In Windows use the Run command to run %temp%
This will open the Windows temporary folder
Delete all the files and folders in the temporary folder - there may be some foles/folders that can't be deleted but dont worry about those
Sign back into the Adobe Cloud
Install Lightroom  and wait for the installation to fail
Use the Run command to run %temp%
    There will be a series of folders with filenames like {3F3A6C01-A6FA-4261-BD77-B128A5668697}
Look through these folders until you find one that contains Lightroom Install file
Run the installation file and the program should install manually
Once completed you should be able to run Lightroom 5
Logout and then login into Adobe Cloud - Lightroom should appear as installed.
My Ligtroom is now working and I hope this works for you.
    Kind regards
    Steve

  • MapMyIndia app does not install on my BB Z10

The app - MapMyIndia does not install on my BB Z10. After downloading, it shows an error "promo code has expired". There was a press release which says that BB India has made this app available free to consumers in India as their native app BB Maps doesn't work in India. MapMyIndia guys say that BB has to activate the license for this app on my device from BB's end.
    Please help.

I have successfully done it and here is a guide to help.
    What you need:
    1. A reasonably high end android device (I used Nexus 7 2012)
    2. Access to a computer to move files between devices (Windows 7 in my case)
    Steps:
Install Sygic on the android device from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sygic.aura_mmi
Run the installed app and let it download all necessary files
You need to install the apk in Blackberry 10 device and later copy all necessary files from android to BB10 in order for Sygic to function properly.
Install the same app in BB10 from Snap or you can copy directly from android if you have a rooted android.
Don't run the app in BB10 as yet.
    Copy the below folder
    /sdcard/Android/obb/com.sygic.aura_mmi
from android to below BB10 folder:
    Device/misc/android/Android/obb
Basically these two directories are equivalent and Device/misc/android/ is sdcard for the android runtime inside BB10.
Next you need to copy two folders from android to BB10
    /sdcard/Sygic
    /sdcard/Sygic_mmi
    to, you guessed right
    Device/misc/android/
At this point you are done and you should be able to run Sygic normally in BB10, you can go ahead and download maps for all India
    Cheerios
