Patch 6400501
Hi friends,
I am working on Note: 802875.1
Particularly:
Apply patch 6400501 (conditional)
If you are on a UNIX/Linux platform, apply the 10.1.0.5 version of patch 6400501 to the iAS 10.1.2 Applications tier Oracle home.
Note: For Linux x86-64 environments, download the Linux 32-bit version of the patch as the Applications tier Oracle home is 32-bit. I download the patch (11.1.0.6.0) and read the README instruction. What is says is:
# Bugs Fixed by this patch:
# 6400501 - APPSST11G;1203;NOT ABLE TO COMPILE FORMS LIBRARRY WITH 11G DB
# Patch Installation Instructions:
# To apply the patch, unzip the PSE container file:
# % unzip p6400501_11106_LINUX.zip
# Set your current directory to the directory where the patch
# is located:
# % cd <patch directory>
# Ensure that the directory containing the opatch script appears in
# your $PATH; then enter the following command:
# % opatch apply
# Patch Special Instructions:
# Make sure all instances running under the ORACLE_HOME being patched
# are cleanly shutdown before installing this patch. Also ensure that
# the tool used to terminate the instance(s) has exited cleanly.
# Please relink the proc precompiler if it is installed on your system.
# cd $ORACLE_HOME/precomp/lib
# make -f ins_precomp.mk proc
# If the Oracle inventory is not setup correctly this utility will
# fail. To check accessibility to the inventory you can use the
# command
# % opatch lsinventory
# If you have any problems installing this PSE or are not sure
# about inventory setup please call Oracle support. The patch seems to be a database patch, and why is the instruction above said:
If you are on a UNIX/Linux platform, apply the 10.1.0.5 version of patch 6400501 to the iAS 10.1.2 Applications tier Oracle home. Why application teir?
Sooo confusing.
Thanks a lot,
Ms K

7303030 patch - an error occured while generating forms library files
Hi,
While applying 12.1.1 upgrade patch, 7303030 i got an error at A1000 phase
"An error occured while generating forms library files" continue as if it were successful..
As we can generate forms after completion of the patch, i selected yes .
Later, i got "An error occured while generating oracle forms files", here also i selected to continue.
Please tell me is this the right way to continue the patch?
I didn't find any errors in worker logs files, after all workers have quit, this error was reported.
After completion of the patch what necessary steps i need to perform.
Thanks,Hi,
The errors are due to missing of pre-req patch 6400501
Forms 10.1.2.3 Compilation against an 11.2 Fails with DB PL / SQL ERROR 801 ... internal error [60603] [ID 1065020.1]
After Applying the patch, successfully gerated forms.
I applied the patch 6400501 but still with the error internal error [60603], have something more to be done?
Thank you. -

26- Upgrade the Database Using the Database Upgrade Assistant from 11gR1 database and follow the steps
run dbua to start the Database Upgrade Assistant
The upgrade failes in the post-upgrade steps were it's creating the control file for the new database (during the DBUA i have specifed that i need to move DB files to a new location) with the error ORA-01166: file number 288 is larger than MAXDATAFILES (100) ORA-01110: data file 288: '$ORACLE_HOME/apps_st/data/PROD/system10.dbf'
I have checked DB_FILES in initPROD.ora and it's 512 I also checked the MAXDATAFILES in the control file from source 10g DB and it's 512 (i used alter database backup controfile to trace to get the maxdatafiles value)
Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 questions
Hi,
I want to upgrade my EBS from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 (keeping DB same , i.e., 11.1.0.7). I have MT services running on 5 nodes. All 5 nodes have all the services enabled.
My doubt is :
While applying the upgrade patches, Do I have to execute the patches on all the nodes ?
If yes, Do I have to run them sequentially (one node after another) OR can I run them parallely (simulteneously on all nodes )?
Do I have to use any special options like 'nodatabaseportion' etc ?
regards,I am follwoing the note : Interoperability Notes EBS R12 with Database 11gR2[ 1058763.1].
1- Step 2: Apply patch 6400501 to the IAS 10.1.2. Do I really need to apply this patch ?( I am not sure how I can check whether this has already applied or not)
As mentioned in the doc, if you are on Linux/Unix then you need to apply this patch.
To verify if the patch is applied or not, it depends on what ORACLE_HOME you are referring to. Please see (How to apply Patch 6400501 to a Release 12 APPS-Tier ORACLE_HOME ? [ID 799907.1]). Since this patch can be applied on the database tier node or on the application tier node, you need to source the correct env file and issue "opatch lsinventory" command.
2- Step 6: Install Oracle database 11g Products from the 11g Example CDs. Do I need to do this step and please ket me know whre I can get this CD ( I have 2 files : p10404530_112030_LINUX_1of7.zip and p10404530_112030_LINUX_2of7.zip)
Do I need to download anything extra here to fullfil the step.Yes, it is mandatory and you need to download all files.
3- Step 8: Apply additional 11.2.0.3 RDBMS pathes :
Before applying this additional patches, I hv to upgrade the database to 11.2.0.3. Please correct me if I am wrong.
As per the note, step 13 is to upgrade database to 11.2.0.3. I got confused here, It means, Do I need to apply additional patches on 10.2.0.5 database then upgrade to 11.2.0.3Before the upgrade. As mentioned under the same step "Do not run any of the post install instructions as those will be done after the upgrade.".
Thanks,
Hussein -
Hi All
I am referring this document Doc ID 1058763.1 for the upgrade of database.
The below two section are conditional . Is it mandatory to apply the conditional section if yes I can apply the patch 6400501 but what about the second conditional how to update the context file through the context editor ?I am not able to find and xml at /opt/oracle/VIS/apps/apps_st/appl/admin location.
Apply patch 6400501 (conditional)
Update application tier context file with new database listener port number (conditional)
Please give me some pointer to move ahead.Update application tier context file with new database listener port number (conditional)...?
---->Once the DB is ready you have to modify the below parameters in APPS context file to connect the APPS tier with the DB
you can perform this step later if you perform now don not run autoconfig after changing the context value
i suggest you to move to next step Prepare to create the 11.2.0 Oracle home

Configuring X Server with Linux RedHat 2.1 AS and EBS 11.5.9
Hi all,
I installed Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.9 on Linux RedHat 2.1 Advanced Server.
I configured a VNC server and I added three lines in the service startup scripts:
DISPLAY="myhost:0.0"
export DISPLAY
xhost +myhost
These commands don't work and everytime I reboot the server I get the error:
Xlib: connection to "se:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
xhost: unable to open display "se:0.0"
But if I login in the KDE Session and then I type those 3 lines it works fine.
It seems to me like any service didn't start up until i logged in.
Please could anyone help me?
Thanks in advanceHi Hussein,
Thanks for your prompt response.
as per the note id Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 11g Release 1 (11.1.0) [ID 452783.1]
Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 CU2 minimum version for 11g. and we are on 11.5.9 base.
do i need to follow the ID 735276.1 as per the note id Interoperability Notes E-Business Suite R12 with Oracle Database 11gR1 (11.1.0) only?
as per the note id 735276.1 my steps would be
1. Apply patch 6400501
2. deregister the current database
3. update the context file
4. oracle_home 11.1.0.7 already installed from 12.1.1 tech stack.
5. create sysaux tablespace in existing database.
6. upgrade the database using dbua.
7. apply the necessary patches as per the note id.
If i'm missing any steps from above, kindly suggest it.
Thanks,

EBS12 post install steps on sparc Solaris 10.
hi !
I have successfully installed EBS 12 on Sparc Solaris 10 . following the
document shown below .
I am now looking for the similar document that i followed on Linux to upgrade
the application version from 10.X to something , on solaris .
is there a post install document to follow for Solaris ?
Oracle® Applications
Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install
Release 12.1 (12.1.1)
Part No. E12842-02
thanks1) Query AD_BUGS table to verify AutoConfig Patches -- Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 387859.1)
2) You need to source the application env file before applying Patch 6400501 -- How to apply Patch 6400501 to a Release 12 APPS-Tier ORACLE_HOME ? (Doc ID 799907.1)
3) If you are planning to keep the same database port number, then you can ignore this step
You will need to install 11.2.0.3 ORACLE_HOME software and upgrade your database to this version.
Thanks,

Questions on Patch Deployment - From older post.
Almost a year ago I had a post with questions on the patch scan process.
https://forums.novell.com/novell-pro...s-updates.html
I have been reviewing my patch process again due to Student laptop's getting re-imaged this summer. I am hoping I can get some additional information based off the replies from that post.
1. It was stated that monthly patch bundles were created and deployed. I am unsure how that is best accomplished. If I create an all Microsoft (Windows 7 for example) Patch bundle for each month, yet the workstations it is deployed to may not require the patch, would this not cause the bundle to fail? If it just fails on that section will the remaining patch's continue to deploy?
What is the best way to deploy a monthly patch bundle? In the past I would create a patch bundle through the Patch Management area for Windows 7 but assign to only a single workstation and then go back and assign to the Windows 7 group as a "run on ref" option. Is it better to assign the patch bundle to all nonpatched devices? If this is done will a system that is reimaged and no longer has the patch or a new system created after the bundle create be automatically assigned said bundle?
Any other good strategies for patching systems? I create custom bundles for Adobe, Java, and Quicktime to ensure I control how they are deployed. Java seems to be one that works better when older versions are not installed. This method seems to be working well for those products. It is my MS Windows updates that are way off the mark. I have most of my systems with 60 to 80 patches reported ready. No matter how many times I deploy the patches they never seem to report as patched on the devices (Even tho the bundle reports back as successful). I am getting ready to start an SR since I think this is an issue with the server since so many of my systems are doing this. Good deployment procedures would be nice since I really hate to mess with my Universal WIndows image since it is working so well. Recreating it just to patch it with the latest Windows Updates would be pain.
Thanks

is the transport already approved?
If not approve it and try it again. (also it is a local one)
If not check the objects and unlock them manually the following way:
SE03 => Unlock Objects (Expert Tool)
But if you approve your transport... the objects should be unlocked.

Edited by: user7640966 on Nov 24, 2011 9:07 AMHussein,
One thing which I noticed now is in the apps Tier the
tnsnames.ora under $TNS_ADMIN
shows entry like this:
PROD=
(DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<appsServerName>)(PORT=1521))
(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<dbServer>)(PORT=1521))
(CONNECT_DATA=
(SID=PROD)
)Actually *(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<appsIPaddress>)(PORT=1521))* this line in the tnsnames.ora is not correct. In fact the appsServerName should be replaced with dbServerName
I deleted the tnsnames.ora and reran autoconfig but it is again recreating the same entry.
Any clue how this can be fixed?
Thanks

How to find out the list of patches applied without using inventory?
Hi,
I have been asked this question once.
How will you find out the list of patches applied to Oracle Database Home without using commands like opatch lsinventory -detal etc...
I think registry$history is a view from where we can find out the list of patches applied.
But I think it will not include all the bug fixes, stand alone or one-off patches. It will mainly list out the CPU patches applied(correct me if I am wrong).
Thanks,
RushiHi;
Thanks Helios,
Your welcome
Could you tell me how do you all senior people manage to find metalink note for almost everything? There is nothing special, For me I just make more search at metalink than googling so after sometimes you started to notice which note could be related wiht issues more clearly.. Just keep searching at metalink and focus what you are searching only.. ;)
If you could guide me I can do it my self and stop bothering you for some silly doubts. You dont bother me and also I belive the other forum users ;) We are also learning new information wiht user questions ;)
Regard
Helios

Mail shuts down and gives "The application Mail quit unexpectedly" message
