Patch Check Tool v. 1.2

Hi
I have used this and downloade a patch-bundle (tar-file)
In this patch-bundle there is a lot of zip-files.
But like the 8_Recommended.zip there is not a patch-order list.
Do I have to make such a patch-order list myself ??
Must i check each patch to see which one to install first ??

Oh, that's relatively easy: Go to service.sap.com/swdc, Download -- Support Packages and Patches -- Entry by Application Group -- SAP NetWeaver -- SAP NETWEAVER -- SAP NETWEAVER 04 -- Support Package Stacks -- Support Package Stacks -- Target Stack: 16 -- Source Stack: 14 -- Usage: EP (& maybe TREX) -- choose plaforms -- Download all files.
See note 844093 and the referenced guide for details how to de-car the files, how to put them together and for details about starting sapinst etc.
If you are upgarding to SP16, don't forget to patch KMC to Patch 3.

PS: Patching 14 to 16 (WAS/EP/KM/TREX, if this is needed completely) takes about 6 hours, 2 hours WAS, 2 hours EP, 1 hour KM and 1 for TREX; much depending on your machine, of course...

DPM 2007/2010 Health Check Tools

Hi there,
I've had a look through the existing forum threads, but am unable to find an answer to my query.
I am looking to find a range of DPM health check tools, or Powershell Scripts, that would help me perform a Health Check on a 2007 environment, with a view to an eventual upgrade path to 2010/2012
I am hoping to avoid analysing each event ID and every backup operation in order to make a report to management.

I'm having a problem with FF forgetting Username & Passwords to occasional sites, checked Tools options which is set correctly.

Twice this last few days, on different sites, FF3.6.10 has forgotten well used Usernames and passwords. First time it re-learnt after manually sign in.
Second time FF totally refuses to learn the Username and Password for the site. Tried 3 times after checking Tools>Options
Not blocked via site exceptions
Privacy> Clear history when FF closes>Settings>Data> PSWD NOT set

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
* Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
* Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

Directory database consistency/repair check tools

hi,
my understanding is that the directory uses ldbm database backends for the changelog and diretcory dtaabase files? is this correct?
if so are there any consistency/repair checking tools available to use on these? (apart from doing db2ldif dumps etc)

Sun DS 5.1 uses Sleepycat (Berkeley) DB version 3.3.x.
I'm not sure if Sun provides db consistency checking tools. They might be in the DSRK. I suppose you could download the free source code from sleepycat and build them yourself.

Aggregate check tool

Hello All,
I trying to set the aggregate check everytime there is a load so that we dont have to worry about data integrity. Now I have gone through all the notes that tells me about the aggregate check tool. I tried doing this and it allows me to select the complete check with change run and then also allows me to select the aggregate. Now when i come to the screen of the transfer option , i click on it and it says cannot make changes to repository and shows me the display mode. This is in a production system, so the system is locked down. Is there a way around this to set this withouth opening up the system.
Any answers are greatly appreciated.

I've used the aggregate check tool a little in or test environment but not in P. Haven't had problems with aggregates generally. Is this a result of problems or more of a precaution. Some of the aggregate check processes can take a while to run, its essentially like refilling your aggregeate and then comparing it to another copy.
At any rate, I think the issue is that you are creating a variant for the program. So do you have the authority to create one in P? If not, sounds like you would have to transport. Might try using SU53 to see if it is an Authorization problem.

"prereq patch checking"

I try to install a HR_PF.G in pre-installation mode :
adpatch preinstall=Y
but after the driver specification I receive this error:
AutoPatch error:
This patch has some prerequisites specified, but the "prereq patch checking" feature is not activated, thereby rendering it impossible to check for the prerequisites.
What is the "prereq patch checking" feature ?

Sure, but in our case the error is the "prereq patch checking" feature is not activated and not a prereq is failed . I hope that when I run the adpatch this 'checking' works fine with or without the preinstall option !

Hardware Configuration Checker Tool??

A while back I found a tool in Cisco's web site that would allow you to select a switch, enter in its modules and check the configuration for errors... Does any one have a link to that tool? I cannot for the life of me find it again...

I know this is a very old thread, but for those who happen upon it, the tools other users have linked here have since been retired for the Cisco Commerce Build & Price Tool at https://apps.cisco.com/ccw/cpc/guest/home.do?flow=nextgen#!/
Under Estimates and Configurations, select Create Configuration. A new Configuration Set will be created.
Expand the Service Preferences toggle button (+) and choose whether or not you want the tool to add recommended services.
Click the Find Product link.
In the Search textbox, type at least 3 letters of your item name/description (e.g. "nexus 7000") and click the Search button.
Scroll down to find your hardware and add it to your cart by clicking the + sign next to the item.
Click the Add button in the resulting box under Selected Items.
On the subsequent screen, scroll down to your saved item and click the Select Options link to configure PSU's, supervisor and I/O modules, etc.
The Show Incompatible SKUs link will show you when options you've selected are incompatible.

How to run Portal Consistency checker tool in server

i m upgrading my portal application to 8.15 from 8.12 and for that i need to run portal cocnsistency checker to update my portal libararies,
can anyone please tell me step wise what shudbe done in order to run that consistency checker on my server in order to update my portal libararies,
currently its in my local system and a zip files.

Prerequiste Checker Tool Installation

Hi All
I am attempting to run the 'Prerequisite Cheker Tool' to find out the ocnfiguration gap in our system for Solution Manager Installation.
When I execute 'start‌InstGui.sh'..I receive the following error
java.lang.RuntimeException: invocation target exception: Can't connect to X11 window server using '3.137.168.137:21212' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
Here is the env variable setting
DISPLAY=3.137.168.137:21212 ( I am running 'start‌InstGui.sh' on the same server, I guess this is wrong )
What should be the 'host' & 'port' values for the DISPLAY Environment variable.

When I open Firefox, it opens all the tabs that were open when I closed it last time. How do I change this so it only opens my homepage. I have checked Tools/Options/General/Startup and it shows "When Firefox starts" ... "Show my home page". HELP!

This hasn't always happened. It just started a few days ago and I don't know what triggered it.

What is Sun's answer about PCA patch manager free tool ?

this post aims on echoing customers'feedback.
from customers'experience it seems that smpatch from patch manager tool is suffering of a lack of reliability.
One of them moved to a new freeware called PCA-Patch Check Advanced

From PCA Web Site we can read:
Sun has offered various tools in the past to analyze Sun/Solaris systems for patches which are installed or missing, e.g. PatchDiag, PatchCheck, PatchPro, smpatch (see the Sun Patch Portal for details). Some of them are not actively maintained, some are huge and opaque, some don't run on older Solaris releases or stripped-down machines. None of them really made me happy. Based on PatchCheck source I implemented PCA, which gets rid of the disadvantages of Sun's own tools.
I would like to know what is Sun's position and could it be possible to integrate such a tool ?

the concerns expressed here.I'd also very muck like Sun to be interested in fixing the customers problems, which has not been done in my cases. No solution or explanation has been given to my many cases opened on smpatch, and this, even though in some cases, patches were made (months later): I was never told about them. Which makes me wonder about the point of having paid support contracts in the first place.
But since UM was developed by interns, it's no wonder there's trouble maintaining it (how do I know? I've been an intern doing Java development, and I made the exact same beginner's mistakes, not knowing to handle exceptions, leaving debug output on stdout, being unable to make proper localisation).
It's obviously not the work of experienced Java programmers. Hard to trust it...

provide complex analysis beyond matching patches with installed

be somewhat opaque.What analysis are you talking about? smpatch is not even able to tell me that security fixes are available for NSS, which has been part of Solaris for years. PCA does.

- We are interested in the concerns surrounding stripped-dow

And, please, can you explain me why I should agree to respect Reuters so-called intellectual property? What does it have to do to with keeping my systems up to date reliably and easily? Is it a competition between Sun and Microsoft to put the most ludicrous licenses on line?
Anyway, I'm sure Solaris 11 will introduce some new bloated offspring of the PatchProManagerUpdateConnection family, so I'm not holding my breath. Rather than repeat this experience again and again, I'll stick with PCA.
