  • Patch conflict when applying the 10.2.0.5 Patch set on Windows 7.

    Hi everybody.
I have problem when install PSR 10.2.0.5 on Windows 7.
First, Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 installed successfull. I want upgrade from Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 to Oracle Client 10.2.0.5.
I downloaded Database10g PatchSetRelease10.2.0.5 for Microsoft Windows(x32) from E-Delivery Japan Site, then used it installed successfull but new ODBC is not added.
Because of that I used metalink for download 10.2.0.5 Patch 9 and OPatch utility release 10.2.0.5.0.
I extracted OPatch utility release 10.2.0.5.0 zip file directly under the ORACLE_HOME (Old Opatch is been overrided).
Then Opatch aplly command executed for 10.2.0.5 Patch 9 but the error has occurred.
    ( D:\Oracle10.2.0.5\12332703 is 10.2.0.5 Patch 9 folder path. )

ZOP-40: The patch(es) has conflicts with other patches installed in the Oracle Home (or) among themselves.
    Prereq "checkConflictAgainstOHWithDetail" failed.
    Summary of Conflict Analysis:
There are no patches that can be applied now.
Following patches have conflicts. Please contact Oracle Support and get the merged patch of the patches :
    13004894, 17540582, 12942119
Following patches will be rolled back from Oracle Home on application of the patches in the given list :
    13004894, 12942119
    Conflicts/Supersets for each patch are:
    Patch : 17540582

      Conflict details:

      Conflict details:

    OPatch succeeded.
So I've done some reading but still not sure what to do here. Do I:
    - download newer patches 13004894 and 12942119 that are available for 11.2.0.3.9?
    - roll back 13004894 and 12942119
    - install 11.2.0.3.9 PSU 17540582
    - apply newer patches 13004894 and 12942119?

Patch 13004894 and Patch 12942119 are NOT included in Patch 17540582 so what you need to do is:
    - Rollback Patch 13004894 and Patch 12942119
    - Apply Patch 17540582
    - Apply Patch 13004894 and Patch 12942119 (11.2.0.3.9)
Patch Set Updates for 11.2.0.3 - One-off Patch Conflict Resolution (Doc ID 1592104.1)
    Thanks,
    Hussein
The above two patch are NOT included in the PSU Patch so they should be applied after applying the PSU

  • How to detect potential CPU patch conflict in advance.

    Hi,
Is there any way to report the CPU patch conflicts before applying the patch.
I found this syntax: opatch apply -silent -no_bug_superset -report in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/cpu-whitepaper-129885.pdf

The metalink docs 1299688.1 and 1321267.1 mentioned in the log file does not help , can you help me in understanding and fixing these patch conflicts.
Note: I have already applied the latest Jan2014 PSU (17540582) successfully.
Your assistance will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Ankur

    Thanks for replying Srini.
Really appreciate your quick response and the in-depth explanation.
So basically there are no true conflicts and I can proceed further.
There is one more thing I need to know, my current environment has a Grid Infrastructure home as well so before applying the latest PSU (11.2.0.3.9) I haven't applied the Grid Infrastructure PSU 11.2.0.3.9 Patch 17735354 to the Grid Infrastructure home and Database home.
Will that be fine or do I need to rollback the PSU and than apply the GI PSU, as I found in readme.txt that "GI PSUs are cumulative and include the Database PSU and associated CPU program security content."
    Thanks

    Any suggestion ?

Try running the command from the directory location "/software/oracle/PATCHES" rather than "/software/oracle/PATCHES/9952234"

    tnx,
sam.as per the oracle documentation... if a patch has been applied, all the bugs fixed by that patch could reappear after another patch is applied. This is called a conflict situation. OPatch detects such situations and raises an error when a it detects a conflict.
OPatch can detect the following types of conflicts:
    Bug Superset
    Subset
    Duplicate

  • Online Update edirectory 888 patch conflicts

Saw yesterday that Novell released patches for eDirectory 8.8.8 for OES 11.2. On my Groupwise 2012 server, I am getting a conflict error when running Online Updates.
    patch:oes11sp2-edirectory-888-patch2-hot-patch-9407.noarch conflicts with novell-NLDAPbase.x86_64 < 8.8.8.2-0.7.1 provided by novell-NLDAPbse-8.8.8.1-0.5.13.x86_64
It gives me 3 choices for Conflict Resolution. I can deinstall, replace, or not install the patch. I believe I would want to do replace, but I do not want to cripple my server either.
    Please help guide me, Obi-Wan!

Good point. That's the problem I was remembering, but yeah, this one does
    look like a different package.
I'm asking backline support what should be done here. Hang on ...

  • Patch conflict between 120791-05 and 123661-04

This happens on an Ultra 60 that's been Live Upgraded to Solaris 10 10/08 from earlier releases.
When I run `smpatch update' it applies all patches except this one:
120791-05 SunOS 5.10: Sun Update Connection Localization
When I try it manually, I get:
    # smpatch add -i 120791-05
    add patch 120791-05
    Transition old-style patching.
ERROR: This patch is incompatible with patch 123661-04
which has already been applied to the system. To install this patch,
first remove the incompatible patch 123661-04 using patchrm(1M).
However, I can't remove that patch because it was integrated with some release of the OS:
    # patchrm 123661-04
    Validating patches...
The following patches cannot be removed since they were installed without creating their backout data.
    123661-04
How do I resolve this conflict so that `smpatch' will be quiet?

  • LMS 3.2 Installation - Solaris 10/09 Patch Conflict:

    Hello all,
We are running Sun Solaris 10/09,working on installing LMS 3.2.As per documentation, attempted to install the two recommended patches,127127-11 and 122032-05.
The 127127-11 patch is already contained in this OS packaging. The second recommended patch - 122032-05 -  does not install since there exists another patch - 141518-11 -  that makes the second recommended patch(122032-05) obsolete.
The 141518-11 patch cannot be uninstalled since there is no backout data for it.
What do you recommend I do to solve this issue as I cannot move ahead with the installation as things stand.
Should I use an older release of Solaris 10 that is still downloadable from the Sun Website? If so,can anyone recommend a tried and tested release I can use.
    Many thanks,
    W.

    Hi all,
Just resifted through the documentation and they have stated the supported releases:
"The following Solaris 10 releases are supported in LMS 3.2:
    –Solaris 10, 05/09 release
    –Solaris 10, 10/08 release
    –Solaris 10, 05/08 release
    –Solaris 10, 08/07 release
    –Solaris 10, 11/06 release"
Will give the installation a shot with 10/08.
    Regards,
    W.

  • Urgent help needed while applying patch for upgrade with conflicts

I try to upgrade 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 on LInux environment.
I have to apply patch P1253900 before the upgrade per oracle doc.
    however I got following conflict:

    Checking skip_subset
    Conflicts/Supersets for each patch are:

    Following patches have conflicts: [   12827726   12539000 ]
Refer to My Oracle Support Note 1299688.1 for instructions on resolving patch conflicts.
I checked above oracle note, and did not say any resolution.
If anybody had the same issue before, please help me with the resolution.

    Hi
My 2-Nodes RAC-System on Linux RH 5.7/X86 hat die Version 11.2.0.1
I tried to upgrade it to 11.2.0.3

Moderator edit - MOS Doc content removed - pl do NOT post contents of MOS Docs - this is in violation of your Support contract*
    I executed :
Step 1: I patched the system with patch 9706490
Step 2: I patched the system with patch 9413827
    I got the error:

Trying to read Note 1299688.1 I cannot get an understandable answer!
Can anyone give me a precise one?
    Thank in advance and regards
    hqt200475

If you have 9706490 applied then it has both GI PSU 9655006 and 9413827. Verify that you have 9706490 applied before upgrading.
Also in note 1274629.1, did you follow:
    Modify crsconfig_lib.pm
After patch is applied, modify $11.2.0.2_GI_HOME/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm:
    Before the change:
    # grep for bugs 9655006 or 9413827
    After the change:
    # grep for bugs 9655006 or 9413827 or 9706490
This would prevent rootupgrade.sh from failing when it validates the pre-requsite patches.

  • Problem Updating Sample App v207 Turnkey Image to 11.1.1.6.5 Patch Set

I've been using the Oracle-provided pre-built Linux Sample App v207 image in a demo/sandbox capacity. I was hoping to patch it to 11.1.1.6.5 in order to squash some bugs, although I'm fairly new to the OBIEE patching process. I'm running into errors when attempting to apply the 1st patch of the set (14696072). It appears it's trying to auto-rollback one or more previous patches, as expected, but these backup rollback directories no longer exist. Perhaps they were deleted from the image prior to release in order to conserve storage space?
I searched the entire drive for traces of patch 14223977, as there were references to this patch with errors in the opatch log file. The directory it's trying to copy files from does not exist. I did find the two directories below which had references to this patch, but they don't include the subdirectories which OPatch is looking for:
    /home/oracle/obiee/Oracle_BI1/cfgtools/opatch/14223977_Jul_02_2012_16_48_19/
    /home/oracle/obiee/Oracle_BI1/inventory/oneoffs/14223977/
So I'm wondering if anyone else has attempted applying these updates to this particular image and has found a solution. Perhaps it won't be possible if the rollback or backup files for previous patches are in fact missing. I'm admittedely somewhat new to using opatch, so it's very possible it's not the image, but me that's missing something. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, Jay. This seems to confirm my suspicion of the files being removed intentionally. This would imply that this image wasn't meant to be patched? So if this is the case, I'd like to confirm that there's not going to be any hope of moving this particular image to 11.1.1.6.5. I'm hoping someone may be able to prove otherwise, but it's not sounding very promising.
I understand that a new manual install is an alternative, but due to several factors, I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. It appears Oracle has not released manual install files for Sample App v207 (please correct me if I'm mistaken about that). I have several scripts based on this content/config which would make patching a much easier route, if possible.
Thanks in advance for any additional insight.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.4 Patching Process - CPU vs Interim Patches

    Hi everyone,
We are getting ready to upgrade our AIX 5.2 - 64bit Oracle 10.2.0.2 systems to Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I noted that there was also a single CPU patch available (CPUOct2008_p7375644_10204_AIX5L.zip), as well as a large list of interim patches for 10.2.0.4.
I was wondering what other people do regarding their patching strategy for 10.2.0.4.
eg:  After you complete your 10.2.0.4 upgrade, do you:
    1.  Apply the CPU patch first and then all the interim patches
    2.  Apply all the interim patches first and the the CPU patch
    3.  Apply the CPU patch only
    4.  Apply the interim patches only
    5.  Its all too hard, so I don't apply any CPU or interim patches ... I hope for the best.
    6.  Migrate to MaxDB ... its much easier to patch.
    Interested in your feedback.
    Cheers
    Shaun

Oracle changed the CPU patches in 10.2.0.4
Now they are more "granular". it is divided in "molecules"
that way it is possible to install only one "part" of the CPU if there is a conflict.
I was aware of Oracles new approach for 10.2.0.4 of using the molecule patch concept.  I still feel uneasy with it given their past track record of patch conflicts.
For that reason, I'd install first all patches and then the CPU.
Have you done this?  Has anyone done this?  I wouldn't mind hearing from someone that has.
Regarding MaxDB, sorry I never used it
Your missing out on something wonderful.  Great database.
Hows this ... I'll apply all of the interim patches, and then the CPU patch on one of our project boxes early next week, and report back if there were any conflicts or issues.
    Cheers

  • How to patch database 11.2

    Hi all,
we have a database 11.2.0.1 configured with strems local replication to another 11.2.0.1 database.
We need to patch the database to 11.2.0.4, what are the correct sequence of step? Do we need to stop the replication? Do we need to patch the secondary database before and then the primary? The best way is to install the 11.2.0.4 into a new ORACLE_HOME and then do the migration? In the secondary database do we need to patch only the ORACLE_HOME?
Can anyone help me, please? Thanks you,
    Sergio
