Patch for Apache crashes ?
Hi,
In our production environment we use Portal 3.0.9.8.0 and the 9iAS is on a win nt 4.0 server and the 8.1.7.0.0 rdbms is on another
win nt server (3-tier). Other products on the 9iAS are Discoverer and Web Forms and Reports.
The apache webserver is crashing frequently. First we received a WSADuplicateSocket error.
After searching on metalink we found a workaround that described to exclude mod__ose.conf in the oracle%.conf file. (e.g [#] include mod__ose.conf ). After implementing this workaround, the errors concerning the WSADuplicateSocket disappeared.
But now after browsing a few minutes apache still crashes. Now we receive another error message:
[Fri Sep 07 04:30:30 2001] [error] [client 172.16.2.117] File does not exist: d:/data/opauren/icons/afsright.gif

[Fri Sep 07 20:20:58 2001] [warn] OPM: EW: Process soas1:0 (pid:403) died, restarting.
Apache tries to create a new child process but fails.
My question is: If there is a patch for these apache problems ? Who does apache works after the patch is applied ?
Best regards,
Jerome

IOS 4 patch for exchange crashes
Does this patch have to be reapplied to the phone after every IOS upgrade?
In fact it is my understanding that if you applied the Profile workaround you should remove it after upgrading to 4.0.1. Apple updated the original Knowledge Base article to describe how to remove the previously provided profile change.
I never updated to 4.0, and went straight to 4.0.1. Whole upgrade went smoothly. -

Apache tries to create a new child process but fails.
My question is if there is a patch or a workaround for this that works for 99.9%
or should I change the 9iAS environment to Linux or Unix ? Also, what are the future developments with the 9iAS ? Is Oracle planning a stable version of apache for win nt / 2000, or are that advertisement lines ?
No offence, but it is quite irritating to solve one bug and to find another waiting for you.
Best regards,
JeromeHi Jerome,
We were experiencing the same issue but we eventually traced the problem.
Apache crashed when using a Windows 2000 client and Internet Explorer 5.0. Upgrading to IE 5.01 or 5.5 sorted out our problem... Or using NT 4 as the client...
Could this be your problem?

Hi All,
I have the following configuration:
Database : 8.1.7 EE
9iAS : 1.0.2.0 EE
While I am testing new applications on Portal, Apache crashes frequently. May be twice or thrice daily. Does any patch have to be applied for this problem.
Secondly, since last few days, suddenly the TNSListener stops working and the only solution to bring it up it to restart the machine. Does this happens because of the DBLinks that I am using in Portal applications or because of something else. Does anybody else have face this error? Whats the solution for this.???
Thanks in advance..
nullI cannot find this bug number on Metalink or the patch! What is the patch number for the 8.1.7.1.1 Client library patch?

Deskjet 710/720/810/820/1000 Series printers - Patch for 64 bit Vista and Windows 7
There is an issue with the 64 bit Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 or 8.1 drivers that causes the spooler to crash with the following HP Deskjet printers:
Deskjet 710
Deskjet 712
Deskjet 720
Deskjet 722
Deskjet 810
Deskjet 812
Deskjet 820
Deskjet 822
Deskjet 1000
The attached file contains a patch for this issue for Vista and Windows 7.
[The patch does not currently work for Windows 8 or 8.1 x64 systems. There are some efforts to address this, if a solution is developed it will be posted here. {Edit - I have not made any progress in getting the patch to work in Windows 8 x64.}]
First make sure the driver for the printer is installed. If the driver has not been installed go to Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, Local Printer, choose the proper port (for USB-Parallel converters the port will likely be USB001: or perhaps USB002: ), Next, click Windows Update then choose HP for the manufacturer and select the appropriate printer.
Apply the patch as follows: Log into the computer with an administrative account. Download the patch by clicking on this link or on the paper clip at the end of this post. Save the patch file to your computer, then unzip it. Next copy the three DLL files to the following directory: %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3
Note that %windir% is a system variable that points to the location of the Windows directory. For most systems this will be C:\Windows. You can click Start, Computer and type %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 in the address bar and it will find the right place.
This can be done from a DOS prompt if DOS is opened with the "run as administrator" command, or from explorer with a copy and paste. Depending on your UAC settings you may need to provide confirmation. Also allow the current files to be overwritten if prompted.
This patch is not required and should not applied to a 32 bit version of Vista or Windows 7.
Thanks to extraordinary Microsoft engineer Alan Morris for guidance for the patch.
Update - the following are more detailed installation instructions:
Download the patch from here. Now click on the file and open it, then extract the patch to some directory that is easy to find. (I use c:\temp. If this directory does not exist you can create it as follows: open the administrative DOS prompt by clicking on Start, All Programs, Accessories, then right click on CMD.EXE and select Run as Administrator. Click in the DOS box then type the following:
MD c:\temp
CD \temp
Now extract the patch files into the c:\temp directory (extract all, chose c:\temp as the destination).
[Update - Windows security settings may prevent these files from being used, please open Computer, type c:\temp in the address bar and then right click on each of the dll files and select Properties. If there is a message in Properties indicating the file was downloaded from the internet and may be blocked then unblock the file before proceeding.]
Next click back in the administrative DOS prompt and type the following: (stuff in green is comments, do not type them...)
DIR *.dll (this is just to verify the files are there, it should list hpvdb720.dll, hpvdb820.dll and hpwm5db1.dll and perhaps others.)
Net stop spooler (makes sure the files are not in use.)
Copy hpvdb720.dll C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this is for the Deskjet 710/712/720/722)
Copy hpvdb820.dll c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this covers the Deskjet 820 and 822)
Copy hpwm5db1.dll c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3(this covers the Deskjet 1000)
Net Start Spooler
Exit
[Edit - note that these DLL files will already be in the directory. You will get a warning asking if it is OK to overwrite the files, say "yes".]
At this point the patch is installed and ready to print.
Note that the printers here do not support USB connections, they have only parallel ports. [Edit - if your printer does have a parallel port use it, this will likely be much less problematic than using a USB-Parallel converter.] If you use a USB-parallel converter make sure it is supported in your operating system. The following posts are flagged with USB-parallel cables that are reported to work in Windows 7. A driver is required for the USB-parallel converter in addition to the driver for the printer. For supported converters this is typically supplied automatically in Windows 7. Note: the proper port to select for the USB-Parallel converters is often USB001:. I have heard of some cases where the port was USB002: or LPT3: as well. If the port you are using does not succeed (after applying the patch) try changing the port by going to Start, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer and select Printer Properties, then click on the Ports tab.

After applying the Gracenote patch for MediaSource, I am getting the following error: "MediaSource/ctcms.exe--abnormal program termination error" when trying to find CD info.
It works but after getting info for the first CD, and you load a second CD to get info, the error will come up, and MediaSource will crash. After reopening, it will work, but it will crash each time a new CD is put in your dri've, and you have to go through the close and reopen routine.
Is there a quick fix for this, or is this going to require a reinstall of the software.
I do have my CD (which I'll have to dig up), as I noticed under the download page for the Sleek Photo, there is nothing there except the original firmware and the patch and a Zencast download. (As a suggestion, Creative should expand the Sleek Photo downloads somewhat).
I also found a smaller patch from Gracenote, is this patch necessary at all, and again, is there a fix anyone knows about that doesn't require a reinstall.
Thanks.micromouse wrote:
Perhaps, you can give my earlier advice a try:
Go to the menu "Tools->Settings". In the Audio CD/Rip tab page, did you enable "Automatically download CD information for new CD"? If so, you may want to disable this auto download of CD info. You can always click the Click Info to manually retrieve the CD info. Let us know whether this works for you.
Note: My experience shows that it may help if you wait for a while for the CDROM dri've to "settle down" before you manually click Get Info.
Tried it, didn't work. Not a big thing, more of an annoyance than anything.
I used to use MediaSource to transfer files onto my device. Last night, I was transferring a hugh amount of music files using Sleek Photo Explorer, and this transfeered much faster than MediaSource, so I made a new discovery. I like the Sleek Photo Explorer, it is very useful.Message Edited by Tony3 on 09-9-2006 06:54 AM -
Hello,
From where can I download patch for Bug ID 4755634 .
Please provide us with a download link.
Any help is appreciated.
Best regards,
RupeshHi,
My program was crashing on the Solaris 10 platform. I searched on Solaris forum and found that it was related to bug with Bug ID 4755634.
One such suggestion I found at forum was following at
http://forums.sun.comthread.jspa?messageID=10848555
============================
There doesn't appear to be a patch available.
I think its fixed in opensolaris.
I suggest you use the workaround mentioned in the bug report
Work Around:
Insert
mallopt(M_KEEP, 1);
before any memory operations
==============================
I applied the workaround that is used mallopt(M_KEEP , 1); before memory operations and the code is working fine.
As of now is this the only solution or do we have any fix for this.

Building OpenSSO Policy Agent 2.2 for Apache 2.x
Hi,
I've been trying to build OpenSSO policy agent using sources from opensso_agentbranch22 on WINNT for Apache 2.0 web server. The reason I can't use the pre-build binary is because we are trying to customize the agent to integrate with another SSO app which sends us data. The compilation itself seems to work OK. But the libamapc2.dll (Apache module dll) created seems to be only 24-26k in size vs the 700k size in the binary distributed by Sun.
Apache fails to start when this agent is installed, saying that the dll is invalid. Am I missing something in my compilation and linking process? I'm using VS 6 for the cl and link, Ant and Cygwin.
Any input from the Sun OpenSSO gurus is greatly appreciated.I can show a snapshot from the Depends tool that clearly shows that amsdk.dll is dynamically linked. It creates all sorts of issues with Apache 2.0 as it doesn't like the dynamic linking. Until I changed the Makefile in the am directory to use the static library, I could not get my libamapc2.dll to match the libamapc2.dll distributed by Sun. Even now there are issues with libnspr4 and msvcrt.dll. Apache crashes as soon as it loads the libamapc2.dll and the issue has been narrowed down to the strlen() method. This method is used for logging messages by the agent.
I wish Sun maintained a copy of the 3rd party libs they use to build the agent in their CVS instead of asking us to fetch those libraries from another website, in which case libraries may not correspond 1:1. -
How to implement the patch for maintaining more than one cookie with http?
HI all,
I have seen the patch for CommonsHTTPSender.java and HTTPSender.java in
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AXIS-895?page=comments#action_63350 , but I don't know how can I implement the patch. Could anyone suggest me how to do it please. Thank you in advance. If I must use StringTokenizer, How can I do it? You completely misunderstand how StringTokenizer works.
StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(output,"#####");Each character is used as a delimiter. So you have specified the same delimiter 5 times.
As suggested above you would need to rewrite the entire code, to treat the String as a delimiter, intead of each character as a delimiter. -

See
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_...8.mbox/browser
for some measures that can be taken to mitigate the risk to Apache 2.0.x
whilst a patched version becomes available.
I'll note that for Option 4 (mod_rangecnt) there are NetWare binaries
available for Apache 2.0.x and 2.2.x - see
http://people.apache.org/~dirkx/BINARIES.txt.

AAC/MPEG-4 support patch for abcde
I got bored to day and made up this patch for abcde that adds support for AAC using the M4A extension.
It uses FAAC as the encoder and also patches abcde to version 2.2.3
I have not tested it yet so bear with me...i'll post my test results later.
You'll have to manually add the "M4AENCOPTS=" variable to the config
usage is: abcde -o m4a
UPDATED: fixed a plethora of typos
another side note is the fact FAAC must be compiled with mpeg-4 support, the Archlinux package for FAAC isn't, so therefore this could be a problem unless you compile FAAC yourself. I submitted a feature request to get mp4 support added.
the following is the 2.2.0 to 2.2.3 update+AAC patch. I will submit a AAC patch for the newest release to the developers of abcde later on.

</Event>Hi,
Jabber is attempting to repair itself from a conflict with the WebEx productivity tools. However, it is looking for the original install file (.msi), cannot find it and therefore the repair fails. To work around this problem you need to:
1 - Download the same version of CiscoJabberSetup.msi that is installed. You can check the version by finding CiscoJabber.exe in your Program Files directory, right click, Properties and on the Details tab there is a product version.
2 - Copy this file to the location fro which you previously installed Jabber. For example, if you downloaded the .msi to your desktop previously, do the same here again. If you got this update as part of an auto update, then copy the file to "%temp%".
3 - Launch Jabber - it should successfully repair itself and launch.
Thanks,
Rob. -

Tips for troubleshooting crashes?

Robohelp 8.0.2
I just created a Robohelp template from a project with a Framemaker booked linked in. I deleted the book from the project before running the script which creates a new template. Robohelp crashes after I created a new project based on the new template and linking the same Framemaker book. Subsequent attempts to open the new project result in a RH crash
I had problem a few weeks back while deleting the framemaker book from an earlier project i had wanted to use for creating a template.
I would be grateful if there are any checks and steps which can be taken to troubleshoot these RH crashes. Looking through the forum i see mention of the CPD and XPJ files but really not sure what i should do about these and whether it is good practice or not to tamper with these.
I have seen many different RH crashes since working with it a couple of months ago so some structured steps for troubleshooting crashes would be a great help.
Can anyone suggest some self-help steps that can be taken to address crashes?
TIA
RobThe Nvidia driver issue that seemed to be happening with CS 5 10.6.4 seems to be exactly what I am having but I have 10.6.8 and CS 5.5.
Issue Here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3067743
Any work arounds? Anybody else having this issue?
Working without open GL sucks, but is better then not working at all.
Is there a different video card on the market that anybody would suggest? I am in the market anyway...I do mainly working in MAYA and AE, I know the graphic cards have come along from two years ago... -
Skydrive for Mac crashes immediately after launch
Skydrive for Mac crashes immediately after launch
Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
Recently when I launch Skydrive on Mac 10.8.3 it quits 2 seconds after launch. If I disconnect the internet connection Skydrive won't quit but the icon remains greyed out and the app waits for internet connection. If I switch to Guest user Skydrive launches properly.
Below are the things I have done but none have solved the problem:
Deleted and reinstalled Skydrive (deleted using Cleanapp)
Cleaned up the Mac using Onyx
Reset PRAM
Repaired permissions
Checked Disk for errors
Removed the Skydrive folder that syncs
Removed all Login Items under Users and Groups
Disabled firewall
Added Skydrive in Firewall Options
Installed the previous version of Skydrive
Temporarily changed all the privileges of the app to Read and Write.
And here is the error log:

The folder you're moving has a name that begins with "com." It is not the subfolder named "Data" or anything else.
Relaunch the problem application and test. If it works now, delete the folder you moved. Otherwise, quit again, and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.SkyDriveLauncher
Caution: If you delete some or all of the contents of the selected folder, but leave the folder itself in place, the application may not launch. Deleting the folder will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
