Patch Level (ABAP not equal Java)

Hi!
We would like to implement ChaRM, Service Desk and Implementation in our SOLMAN.
The ABAP stack is patched to SPS 13. Should the Java side also be patced to SPS 13 or does it make any difference, if we do not use some Java functionality such as Diagnostics?
With other words: should always ABAP stack SPS be equal to SPS of Java stack within SAP Solution Manager?
Thank you very much!
regards
Thom

yes - in doublestack installation the patchlevels must be in sync. The Java part may rely on the ABAP or vice versa.

,actually i want to upgrade my sap b1 2007 to patch level 19.
but when i install upgrade with patch level 19.it updates.
and when i  start sap application its throws error saying that
"DATABASE IS NOT CONSISTENT , PLEASE CHECK THE LOG FILE FOR MORE INFORMATIION"
please experts , help me out if there's any solution

    Hi,
Please restore the DB to where it was before you applied the patch.
Take the DB to a test environment and try the upgrade again? Also might be worthwhile to try a different patch to apply?
    Finally contact SAP Support

  • Abap and java patch level

    Hi,
I have a portal installed on a standalone java based on sp13.  I also have a backend ECC5.0 on a web as abap (sp9).  If I want to connect the portal to the backend ecc, do I need to upgrade the abap to the same patch level as the standalone java (ie. sp13).
Also, I have installed the portal via rapid installer, which has also created a new sld for me.  If I want to add the abap as a new technical system in the sld, is it required that both the java (of which the sld is based) and the abap be of the same patch level?  thanks!

    Hi,
If you want to connect to the backend system , both the Portal and ECC (Back end System ) need not be of the same pacth level. And you can also add the techincal system in SLD of diffrent pacth levels.
    Thanks,
    Tanuj

  • How do I see the Kernel patch level in Java ONLY instance?

Could someone please tell me How do I see the Kernel patch level in a Java ONLY instance?
    In Abap, it is simple!
In Java I see in the System Info: Kernel Version:  7.00 PatchLevel 108458.44
BUT that doesn't correspond to the real patch level which I can see when I do disp+work which gave me 111

    Hello Yechezkel,
I am not sure whether the patch number you are looking for is available.
Typically you can use "-v" to display the patch level of SAP kernel programs. When I run "jcontrol -v" or "jlaunch -v", the patch number is blank (at least on the 6.40 release I checked)
The SP level should be able to tell how current the Java instance is updated, especially for NetWeaver 7 systems always patched with JSPM stack.
    Best regards,
    Victor

  • Kernel Patch level in JAVA Engin

    Hello All,
I have planned to upgrade the kernel for JAVA engine (Version 640) and checked for the patch level. It appears as release 640 and i am not able to find the patch of the kernel(tried in system info page and jalunch -v option). Later I came through a thread in this forum which stated there is no patch level for Java Kernel. Is this right? If this is right then how do we upgrade the kernel for Java engine
    Kindly clarify
    Regards,
    Anand

    Hi,
In Java, kernel are identified in SPS not in terms of patch level like in ABAP systems. so whatever will your SP stack level of your portal, the same will be the kernel level of your portal.
So if you want to upgrade your portal kernel alone, you cant. You have to upgrade your whole Portal SPS to take your portal on new kernel and SP stack level. Latest SPS Available in the market place is 24 as of today.

  • How to configure SSO for web dynpro ABAP (not web dynpro Java)

    Hi Experts,
I am testing SSO in IDES for web dynpro ABAP (Not for web dynpro Java / not for portal). When I am entering url of web dynpro application in web browser like internet explorer, then it should ask for user id and password first time, after login whenever user would access that url, it must not ask for user ID and password (url would be access web browser in mobile). For this I select to configure single sign-on for web dynpro ABAP. I have done below works:
1). I have created a web dynpro application having url: http://susws076.sap.swk:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zadb_hello_world2
2). I run TCode SICF and access service node to "Zadb_hello_world2". Double click on it, hit change. pressed "logon data" tab, select "Alternative logon
         procedure"
Then deleted all logon procedure other than "SSO Authentication" and saved.
3). Go to "STRUST" and create certificate, choosed "Environment==> Logon Ticket" fill the required parameters and execute. It is OK (no red traffic
         signal).
4). Execute TCode "RZ10" to change profile parameter, insert new parameter (indicated by red arrow)
After all this settings I opened a browser enter above URL and hit enter but there is an error
There is no login page. It directly showed this error page. No cookies is saving.
Can anyone tell me what all the settings/configuration other than this I have to do. And is there any wrong setting done by me?
How to set the for single sign-on?
    Thanks in Advance

  • Please not another ABAP vs. Java-Thread, BUT ...

    Hi, folks!
I already had several inspiring discussions about the need for 2 different languages within one Enterprise System, but right now I' d like to take a more personal approach to this matter.
I' m working within SAP business for about 3 years now and started as a trainee for SAP Java development in a small consulting company . In my first year, I was some kind of geek freaking out on each new SAP technology that arose or was only announced. Web Dynpro Java, ESA/eSOA, Portal, Mendocino/Duet, Business Client, Enterprise Search, Widgets a.s.o. I did a lot of presentations and technical workshops for SAP Pros - NWDI, WDJ, Interactive Forms  - and you know what? Nobody was interested in any of these. Interactive Forms? We just switched to Smartforms. WDJ? When will it be available for ABAP. NWDI? We spent a fortune on ABAP courses. Widgets? We have SAP GUI. Business Client? We have SAP GUI. Portal? We have SAP GUI.
Now I' m working as a simple ABAP programmer in HR. No web enablement, cause web apps are realized completely outside SAP. No SOA-enablement, cause all SAP functionality needed outside is either already provided via BAPIs or put in RFC modules. No Java at all, cause there is and will be only an ABAP stack. None of all the new stuff, but a great need for knowledge of standard programs, their configuration possibilities and use.
So, to come to the conclusion: What I realized in my work life is that daily business is pretty innovation-resistant and I personally don' t think that even half of all the "emerging technologies" will make it for the next 5 - 10 years. What I also realized is that a lot of time and work has to be spent by developers to keep in touch with new development techniques, which could be used better for clearing white spaces in classical ABAP as well as module programming environments. If developers would focus more on ABAP and module knowledge than on the newest Modelling-techniques many SAP systems probably wouldn' t be spoiled by poor custom developments, enhancements and modifications as they are today!
    Regards,
    Thomas

Yes - it is indeed. If a company invested quite lots of money to get a certain application (or a part of it) working they won´t switch to a different technology just because it´s "hip" at the moment. For new customers it is certainly a very nice alternative to use the new technologies instead of the "old ones".
And to quote the example I said already a few times: If ABAP was so bad, why would SAP themselves switch certain applications back to WD-ABAP (speaking of Travel Management in Enhancement Pack 2 e. g.).
What I´ve heard the new paradigma is
    - Service provisioning: ABAP
    - Service consumption: Java
    Whatever this means in detail.
I can hardly imagine removing the SAPGUI out of our e. g. sales department and replace it by e. g. a nice "guided procedure" using NWBC. In maybe 5 % of the todays cases this would be enough, the other 95 % still need the full featured transaction with all the tabs, fields and editing functionality.
And what I find the most interesting in that area is: SAP internally I always see SAPGUIs on the (supporters, sales dep.) desks, the "backend OSS/CSN" is still accessed by GUI and not by web, guess why...

  • Patch Level not reflecting in Support Package Levels after applying

    Hello,
MDM_TECH 555_700 patch 01 are applied to A65. But the patch is not
getting reflected in the package level.
We are still unable to view the component in OCS queue, even after
uploading the component. Still the MDM_TECH 555_700 is showing
    the patch level 0.
Please provide any solution to make the patch level reflect.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Chaitanya,
I'm facing the same issue. We are upgrading Solution Manager 7.0 to EHP1. I cannot implement the Notes 791984 , 1015068 and 1022755 since the OCS is locked with the error in DDIC_Activation. Could you please let me know how did you implement the corrections?
    Cheers,

  • JAVA PATCH LEVEL

    Hi Experts,
I need small information on JAVA Patch level.
Presently we are on Patch level 15 in portal system and latest patch available in market place is 19.
Please guide me which patch level can i go and apply.
    Regards
    Jan

The best practice is to go with one step lesser than the highest patch available, because to get the fiexes to the problems with the highest patch will take some time and the 18 patch should have got the fixes by the time highest patch is released. and also you might get the possible issue with the patch 18 from the people who already adopted it or from the market place (you can get the report on impacts ) before proceeding to apply. The other point you need to consider is the patch 19 functionality and its immediate applicability as per your scenario.
    Thank you,
    Shyam
