  • SUNWsprox package with solaris 10 for Oracle 10g Installation....

    Hi
I am in problem with a Solaris 10 package "SUNWsprox - Sun workshop Bundled 64-bit make library" for Oracle 10g Installation. I checked the CDs (In the /.../products) but did't found this packege. Can any one tell me please can I go without this package or where I found this package...Please Its very URGENT for me....
    Thanks

    Hi...
I had the same issue, but found out that the SUNWsprox was replaced by SUNWsprot. The OUI 10.1 Release 2 will 'pass' as the doco in the Oracle quick install guide is wrong (as well as 10g Application Server).
The only way to lay a 10g Release database on Solaris 10 is to lay the software doen only, then cd in the .../bin directory, step your Rdbms ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, LD_LIBRARY_PATH and of course the DISPLAY (is X-windowing into the server), and run dbca manually. Oracle 10g is a bit buggy.

  • OS patches required  in Solaris 10  for JDK 1.5

I need to know if there is a set of required Solaris patches required to install jdk 1.5 and what are those?
The documentation does not contain this information, thus it says that all required patches need to be installed.
    Thanks,
    Maria

Patches 118668-14 and 118669-14 were fixes to patches 118668-13 and 118669-13 for change request 6609269 so both sets are for Java 1.5.0_13.
I do not have details on when the 1.5.0_14 patches would be available but would assume soon.
Installing the Java download bundle should not affect Update Connection.

  • Solaras commads for Oracle

Can any body forward me the common commands used to work with oracle database.
    That would be good help

DBA can use all OS commands during his work, so there aren't just few specific commands.
Most of commands are the same as on other Unix clones.

  • Effects of changing IP number on solaris server with oracle

I need to change my servers IP adres.
What can i espect to do when I change it ?
    We are running Solaris 2.6
    A Oracle 7.3.4 Database
    A Oracle 8.1.6 Database
    Greet Jeroen Tip

It all depends on how you have set up your connectivity to the databases. If you are using IP addresses in your tnsnames.ora or sqlnet.ora etc, then you will have to change all those. WE use DNS entries for everything, so the only affect on us when IPs change is at the DNS level and is transparent to us. (the DBAs that is).

  • Using ZFS for Oracle RAC 11gR2 binaries

    Hi,
    We have following scenario,
Two Node Cluster: Oracle RAC 11Gr2 with Clusterware on Solaris 10
We want to keep Oracle & Clusterware binaries on ZFS mirror file system on each node locally and for Data files, FRA, Voting disks & OCR on shared SAN using ASM.
My question, is the above scenario certified by Oracle or can we keep Oracle binaries on ZFS...?
    Will appreciate your input.
    Thanks

Well my confusion started after reading this doc on oracle support:
Certification of Zeta File System (Zfs) On Solaris 10 for Oracle RDBMS [ID 403202.1]
"Oracle database 10gR2 (10.2.0.3 and higher patches), 11gR1 (11.1.0.6 and higher patches) and 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and higher patches) are certified with Solaris 10 ZFS on Sparc 64-bit and Solaris x84-64. See Solaris ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide. This is for single instance ONLY. ZFS is currently not applicable to RAC and not Certified to use it as a shared filesystem."

  • Find patch number

    Hi,
How can I easily find patch number I need.
For example, We have oracle 9.2.0.1 installed and would like to upgrade to 9.2.0.4 on solaris. What is the easy and quick way to find the patch number?
I went through metalink, patches, simpe search and advanced search, either way, there were too much info to enter and nothing was found.
    Thanks.
    Hope

This is not the 'correct' forum for this type of question. Please check one of the Database forums:

Can you tell me what pointed you to use this forum for your DB question?

  • JDeveloper 9i for Oracle 11i 10 with RUP4

    Hi,
I am trying to download JDeveloper patch 9i with OAF extension for Oracle Apps 11i 10 framework with RUP4. I am having issues with finding the right patch number as metalink says different patches in different pages. With the one I downloaded, I am having some database connection problem which gives me "IO Exception: The Network Adapter Could not Establish Connection".
    Can some help? Pls?
    Thanks.

5455514 is the patch for rup 4 based system.
As for the error, it is very generic. Either try to follow the steps for hello world carefully or search on forum, you will find many similar threads on this topic.

Search on old threads before posting issues. Search on keyword CacheLoaderNotFoundException and you will find this issue has been discussed earlier.

  • Patch number for Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Solaries SPARC 64bit

    Guys,
    Oracle Version: 8.1.6.0
    OS: Solaris SPARC 64-bit
I would like to patch to 8.1.7.4. I need a patch number for this, I find it very difficult to search for the patch on Metalink. Would you please suggest the patch number and maybe also suggest the easier way to search for patches on Metalink.
    Thanks in advance
    Durbanite

    Go to Metalink
Click on "Patches & Updates" tab
    Click on "Simple Search"
Search by "Product and Family" and enter RDBMS Server
Choose the target release you are looking for (8.1.7.4)
    Patch type => "Patchset/Minipack"
    Classification => "Any"
Choose the "Platform or Language" your plateform (Sun Solaris SPARC 64bits)
And finally click on Go button.
You'll get only one row as result, the patchset you are looking for actually.
    Nicolas.

  • Where do I download Oracle ESB 10.1.3.4 for solaris sparc?

    Hi,
Where can I download Oracle SOA Suite ESB 10.1.3.4(only ESB, BPEL is not required).
I could find the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101310.html
which has Oracle Enterprise Bus 10g (10.1.3.1.0). What is the patch number for upgrading this to 10.1.3.4?
I believe we get latest Oracle Apps and database adapters out of box with ESB 10.1.3.4. If not please suggest me where I can get these.
Also I need an SAP adapter which is not given by default with ESB 10.1.3.4. Please suggest me where I can download this from and how I install it.
Please give me the links for downloading
    Oracle SOA ESB
    version - 10.1.3.4
    Operating system: Solaris Sparc
Adapters: SAP, Oracle Apps and database.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Marc.
I was not able to find the patch on metalink. Could you please give me the patch number specific to only ESB 10.1.3.4 if you have.
I have the 10.1.3.4 patch number(7272722) for the complete SOA suite.
Also please comment on adapters part.
    Thnaks.

  • Solaris 10 patches for Oracle Database 11gR2

    Hi,
I downloaded Oracle Solaris 10 s/w from e-Delivery and got it installed. For Oracle Database 11gR2 I also need the followging patches:
    120754-06: SunOS 5.10_x86 libmtsk
    119961-05: SunOS 5.10_x86: Assembler
119964-14: SunOS 5.10_x86 Shared library patch for C++_x86
Though we have access to MyOracleSupport we can only download s/w patches using our support contract with Oracle and not OS patches.
Is there any other way I can get these patches.
    Rgds,
    Thiru.

    Thiru,
You won't find the patches in the patches/ directory on the DVD or the ISO image. Oracle integrates the patches directly into the packages, so there is no need to provide or install them separately.
All patches have a patch number (e.g. 120754) and a revision (e.g. 06). A newer revision of a patch always contains all fixes of the previous revisions. So try to run "showrev -p | grep 120754" instead, and you'll see that patch 120754-08 is pre-installed. As revision 08 is newer/higher than 06, the patch requirement is satisfied.
    Hope that helps,
    mp.

Patches are only used within a release. 11.2 is '11g Release 2' - a new release. This is no longer a patch, it is an upgrade.
You perform the upgrade as per the Upgrade manual in the doc set. PLEASE read that manual before you attempt te upgrade. There are a few steps and concepts that are significantly different from a patch.
The starting point for an upgrade is the freely downloaded s/w. The software is a completely fresh install, but the database gets upgraded.
By the way, I would not recommend jumping on 11.2 for an existing production environment until a careful evaluation has been made - upgrades always introduce significant changes and they could adversely affect an existing application is not properly tested and understood. Budget a few weeks (at least) to understand the differences.
