Patches are only used within a release. 11.2 is '11g Release 2' - a new release. This is no longer a patch, it is an upgrade.
You perform the upgrade as per the Upgrade manual in the doc set. PLEASE read that manual before you attempt te upgrade. There are a few steps and concepts that are significantly different from a patch.
The starting point for an upgrade is the freely downloaded s/w. The software is a completely fresh install, but the database gets upgraded.
By the way, I would not recommend jumping on 11.2 for an existing production environment until a careful evaluation has been made - upgrades always introduce significant changes and they could adversely affect an existing application is not properly tested and understood. Budget a few weeks (at least) to understand the differences.

  • What are the steps to upgrade oracle clusterware from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.

We have two node clusterware installed and we want to upgrade the oracle clusterware from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 can any one share the steps for upgrade.
    Regards

    Hi Rajeys,
I read all the documents but i was not able to find the information that i was looking. Below i am providing my cluster node configuration and version -
    1) No of Node in cluster - 2 (node1 ,node2)
    2) OCR (clusterware) version - 10.2.0.4
    3) Storage type - NAS storage (we are not using ASM).
Now link provided by you is to upgrade ASM from 10.2.0.3 to 11GR2 but we are not using ASM as storage we are using NAS storage. Do we have any link or document that help me to upgrade oracle clusterware only without ASM from version 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 .
    Thanks in advance

  • Patch set number for upgrade to 10.2.0.3 Windows 64bit (not itanium)

    Hi,
    i installed 10.2.0.1 64bit on a dell Poweredge 2900 Windows server 2003, 64bit. it went ok.
then i attempted to upgrade to 10.2.0.3 using patch 5337014.
i got the following error :
The image file D:\installers\p5337014_10203_WINNT64\Disk1\setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine.
reading the patch note it seems this patch is for itanium. Our server is not itanium.
Can you please direct me to the correct patch number? i searched metalink over and over but don't find it. it's quite urgent.
    cheers,
    Andreas

Choose as platform Windows Server 2003 (AMD64/EM64T), that's the correct patch.

  • How to upgrade eSourcing from version 5.1.8 Patch 3 to 5.1.8 Patch 4

Please some one can guide me How to upgrade eSourcing from version 5.1.8 Patch 3 to 5.1.8 Patch 4 since i am new in CLM.

    Hello Gadewar,
First of all make sure you read all the details given in the Upgrade Guide located at "Installation and Upgrade Guide"->SAP SRM->SAP E-Sourcing 5.1/SAP CLM 2.0->E-Sourcing 5.1/CLM 2.0 Component Upgrade Guide PDF at service.sap.com/support website.
Note you need to have the support account to login to that website.
How ever I am listing down basic steps required for upgrade below.
    1) Download the installables from the website I did mention above, have DB jar, have custom jar (optional).
    2) Take backup of the DB.
    3) Take backup of Config folder. Also take backup of the <home Dir>/Lib if you have some customizations in the form of JARS.
    3) Make sure the userid which is used for connection to DB have the required permission like CONNECT, RESOURCE, UNLIMITED TABLESPACE etc. It is given in the guide I mentioned above in section 4.1 Verify Privileges of Oracle Service Account.
    4) Stop ESO instance and run the setup and then upgrade scripts.
    5) Undeploy the old ESO application from App server and then deploy new .EAR from new <home dir>/fsapp on the app server.
    6) Start the app server and your ESO will be ready. You may need to use Workbooks to upload Localized Resources. This is the case if you have modified some OOTB localized resources in the past as a part of customization and have not used the overrides to give new resource values. If you have used overrides for localized resources in the past then you are good and need not to load the workbook.
Again usage of Workbook depends on the requirement to requirement. You may need to use workbook based upon your business needs.
Make sure you have not modified any OOTB query definitions as a part of customizations, if that is the case you will loose those query definitions as upgrade scripts overrides OOTB queries and then you should backup those as well before upgrade and then you may re-pull them after upgrade.

  • Upgrade database from 10.0.2 to 11.2.0.2 .

I want to upgrade database from 10.0.2 to 11.2.0.2 . Can i go for direct upgrade?
Or i need to apply the patch bring the database to 10.2.0.2 and then upgrade to 11.2.0.2.
Please suggest me on this ...

Are you sure about that minor release number? Possibly 10.1? Release 10.2.0.2 is the minimum R2 version that can be upgraded directly to 11gR2, if its 10.1, that requires 10.1.0.5 or higher.
The upgrade forum may offer better help, see Database Upgrade

  • Upgrade database from 10.1.0.3.0 to 10.1.0.5.0 or 10.2.0.2.0

    Hi,
I have been using a Oracle database server 10.1.0.3.0 installed quite a few years ago on Solaris 10 x86. Now an Oracle application server I am going to install requires a database that is 10.1.0.5.0 and higher, or 10.2.0.2.0 and higher. I haven't touched database server installation for so long and would like someone to give a quick guide as to:
    - Where to download the necessary software for the upgrade?
    - Will this be just an upgrade or a new installation? What are the main steps involved?
    - How much is the risk that the existing 10.1.0.3.0 be rendered unusable because of the upgrade attempt?
I am asking these questions because I need to use the existing database from day to day and can not afford to lose it, and I haven't been doing database server installation for years, and picking it up again will take quite an amount of time. I only did new installations before and have never done upgrading.
    Many thanks for your help!
    Newman

    Hi, Srini,
You are right. I found the patch by the patch number you provided. But I can not download. The download button is dimmed, which pretty obviously means that the license we have does not include extended support. The only choice left is the path you outlined in you first answet to my question. To me that is a major effort for which I do not have the time right away, but have to postpone until the application development project on hand is completed.
The information you provided is precious and I will refer back to this page when I undertake the upgrade.
Many thanks for showing me the way when i am fumbling.

    Newman

  • Upgrade GI from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 on Stand alone DB

    Hello,
I want to upgrade GI/ASM from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 (out of place). RHL5
I did not find any link regarding the exact upgrade. I will be highly thankful, if you could answer my simple questions.
    - Pre-requisite patch to install to 11.2.0.1 GI_HOME on Standalone before upgrading?
    - from the 11.2.0.3 NEW_GI_HOME, I will invoke ./runInstaller and choose upgrade GI/ASM for Standalone, and following the steps, thats it right, no second time GUI for example ASMCA or ASMUA
    - I am confused here that will ASM instance be upgraded also within the same GI upgrade GUI steps or do I need to start again GUI from new GI home with ASMUA option or so?
Thanks a lot for your inputs in advance.

    8. Run ASMCA to upgrade 11.2.01 to 11.2.0.3. (ASMCA will detect a 11.2.0.1 ASM instance and set the new GRID_HOME for new ASM instance 11.2.0.3).
    9. Click UPGRADE ASM.
Is best practice upgrade ASM with ASMCA, not with OUI-Oracle GI
