Patch Prerequisite

Hi Guys,
platform is 11.5.9
OS is solaris
Please I want to download patch 5352601(CPUApr2007 5352601) 11iApplications DBA) which is included in CPU April 2007. Now one of the prerequisite for this patch is patch 3180816 (Patch 11i.AD.I) which is obsolete in this platform (Patchsets known to include or supersede Patch 3180816 is patch 4712852 Applications DBA 11i.AD.I.4)
I have patch 4712852 (Applications DBA 11i.AD.I.4) applied on my system my question is since I have the new patch 4712852 do I need to apply the older one patch 3180816 (patch 11i.AD.I) since is a prequisite for the patch 5352601(CPUApr2007 5352601) 11iApplications DBA) ?
I am thinking that the new one should be good enough since minipack is cumulative?
Please help again!!

You do not have to apply patch 3180816 (patch 11i.AD.I) since it is included in 4712852 (Applications DBA 11i.AD.I.4). To make sure you can apply patch 5352601(CPUApr2007 5352601) with "options=prereq", this option helps you to determine if you have any missing pre-req. patches on your environment before applying the current patch.

  • Adpatch and patch prerequisites in R12

adpatch in R12 no longer checks for unapplied pre-requisites, but OAM's patch wizard does. Does anybody know what happens if the patch has a pre-requisite, and we are using adpatch to apply it? Does adpatch simply fail in this case?
    I haven't found a R12 patch with pre-reqs to test this yet.
    Thanks,

You would have to add options=prereq if you want a warning about unapplied prerequisites, otherwise it will just apply it without checking, same as in 11.5.10.2 with AD.I.4.

  • DST Patch Prerequisites and Software Updates

Mixed environment with PowerMac G5 PPC that are running Tiger 10.4.2 and some 10.4.6. Want to make sure that these machines are updated correctly with the Daylight Saving Time changes in 2007 without impacting customers.
Will have to be accomplished manually, (still in the process of obtaining Apple Remote Desktop)
Would probably prefer manual updates at this time due to Prerequisites and without impacting production.
Questions are mixed and confirmation is needed:
    # 1) Apple is indicating that the Daylight Saving Time Update (Tiger)Post Date: February 15, 2007, has a system requirement Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Client or Server). Does this mean that OSX needs to be updated to v 10.4.8 in order for the manual DST patch to work?
    # 2) Seems to be a contradiction regarding if the DST patch is and was implemented with various updates up to 10.4.8. Again according to Apple the DST rule changes for the United States and most of Canada are already available in Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later. Since I have around 70% of PPC already updated to 10.4.6 is the DST needed?
    # 3) The remaining G5 PPC that currently are running 10.4.2 based on above will have to be updated with the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) I am pretty nervous based on this update being successful, even with permission repair prior to update etc....
    The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, or 10.4.7 to version 10.4.8 on both Intel-based Macs and PowerPC-based Macs.
    # 4) Do all current Tiger OS version need to be updated to 10.4.8 to assure that DST patch is installed?
Confirmation - Information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Mixed PPC 10.4.2 & 10.4.6
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Brian--
Since the 10.4.6 update as you indicate above fixes
the DST problem for US locations that affects my
    customers
(We are in the US) and our time zone. There would be
no reason to update these machines to 10.4.8 since
they already are updated to 10.4.6 and addresses my
immediate concern which is the DST issue.
Well, if you only deal with local time on your computers, it probably won't make a difference. It's when you're trying to calculate times in different time zones where the times could get off. So email headers and downloaded files might have strange time stamps off by an hour in some cases. Those are the kinds of non-obvious activities that could be affected.
" Updating to 10.4.8 alone won't do it, obviously,
    you'd need the DST patch"
Now I am really confused since this URL and your
comments contradict this documentation for Apple. If
having the 10.4.6 version of Tiger and it already has
the DST patch why are you saying that 10.4.8 alone
    won't do it??
Well, there are really two issues: Apple updated the US time zone files and most of Canada in 10.4.5. So if you update to 10.4.5 or later, you'd get these changes. However, one location that didn't get updated was Vancouver. You can check it from the Terminal app like this:
    <pre class="command">zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver | grep 2007</pre>If you have 10.4.8 with the extra DST update, you'll see the following:
    <pre class="command">/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 09:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 PST isdst=0
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 10:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 PDT isdst=1
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 08:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 PDT isdst=1
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 09:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 PST isdst=0</pre>If you just have 10.4.5 or later, but no DST update, the spring times will be three weeks later (Apr 1, I think), and the fall ones will be a week earlier. And it's the same for a few other locations and time zones in Canada and around the world.
Maybe I am reading into this but there seems to be
    conflicting documentation here.
Well, I can see where that page might be kind of confusing, but, in a nutshell, it says that if you have 10.4.5 or later, you have some, but not all, of the DST changes for 2007 installed on your system. If you follow the link at the end of the Mac OS X 10.4 and Mac OS X Server 10.4 Tiger section, it links to a page that has a bit more information on the February 2007 DST update. That update has all the changes as of January 8, 2007.

  • Use dg4msql in Oracle 11.1.0.6.0

    Hi all,
i would like to use dg4msql in my 1.1.0.6.0 installation. Searching on the metalink site I found a document related.
In this document is said that you have to aplly the patch number 5965763. It said also "Applies to:Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server - Version: 11.1.0.6 to 12.0.0.0".
But when I try to apply this patch prerequisite check fails because I have a rdbms 11.1.0.6.0 and a lower version is required.
I have search some information about this but found nothing.
In the same machine we have another 10.2.0 oracle installation, can this affect?? Any ideas??
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

The patch you are refering to does NOT contain any gateway. It is a database patch to make older database releases compatible with the V11 gateways.
The V11 gateway can be downloaded from edelivery: http://edelivery.oracle.com. You have to enter the contact details, confirm export and license restrictions and then you have to choose Oracle Database as product and select the correct platform. You'll get a list of available products for download. Choose 11g CD pack and look for "gateway". Download this CD and install the gateway from this dediacted gateway CD.

It would have been better to apply 3460000 first, then start applying specific Family Packs to get to the desired level.
The latest HRMS, IRC, OTL patches are issues are listed in the following document:

The latest iExpenses patch is OIE.K, and the notes for that were provided at the top of this thread.
It appears your projects code base is out of synch with other products due to missing prerequisites. It would be nice to have a post patch prerequisite checker to identify missing prerequisite patches. Always apply patches with options=prereq to give yourself a better chance of catching missing prerequisites.

  • Windows 7 SP1 Prerequisite not in patch management

Reading the notes for Windows 7 Service pack 1 it has a prerequisite of MS
update 976902 which as far as I can tell is not offered up by patch
management. Does this strike anyone else as odd to not have it available in
patch management. I would also think that SP1 would not be offered for
install if I didn't have this update installed.
If I run windows update I am offered up 976902 but not SP1.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976902 is the prerequisite

FYI noticed 976902 is now listed in patch management.

  • Interoperability patches and Functional Prerequisites

Besides prerequisites, sometimes the patch readme's include Interoperability patches and Functional Prerequisites. It seems these patches are needed only if you use the particular product. I have some questions about such patches.
    1) If I skip these and one day I need to activate those product, how to find out what such patches are needed? Or is it needed to install all these patches (which may have further prerequisites) anyway?
    2) What's the difference between Interoperability patches and Functional Prerequisites?
    3) Sometimes the Interoperability patches are for a product family... Is there any document on what applications are there in a product family?
    Thanks!

Please see (Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS Release 11i with Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 [ID 1135973.1], "Section 2: Upgrading an Existing Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0) patch set") for all the patches you need to apply.

  • Apply main patch before prerequisite patches

    Hi,
I have a main patch and 7 prerequisite patches
accidently i applied main patch before prerequisite patches on Devlopement server.
after i applied one by one 3 patches , they applied successfully but after that other patches are unable to applied .
    Please help me.
    appriciate your Reply.

In addition to the complete error message and the list of patches you have to provide, please post the details of the application release, database version and OS.
If the main patch was applied successfully then you applied all pre-req. then you do not have to reapply the main patch again.

  • Prerequisite to enable Profiling for posture assessment to check the AV, Patches, OS update

    Hi Experts,
I have wireless set-up with two SSID , one is used for corporate users with dot1x auth and other one for guest using CWA .
I understood that , i do not need to buy any license or pay to cisco for Wireless license however i want to understand for enabling profiling for posture assessment .
I understood that I need have advance license for posture assessment however I am looking out for information about costing to buy advance license and is there any prereuisite to configure posture assessment other than additional license?

There were a few changes in ISE v1.3:
    - Base License = The same
    - Plus License = The same (with some more features)
    - Advanced License = Apex
    - Wireless = Mobility (Now it includes VPN based authentications as well)
So your plan is to run the new version of ISE (1.3) and AnyConnect 4 then you will need to have:
     - ISE Mobility License (Includes Base, Plus and Apex for wireless and VPN)
     - AnyConnect APEX license - This one is on the honer system and it is not installed on ISE
If you plan to use posture on wired as well then instead of the "mobility" license you will need to get:
     - ISE Base
     - ISE Plus
     - ISE Apex
     - AnyConnect Apex
Thank you for rating helpful posts!

  • Error occured in the phase MOVE NAMETABS while updating patch.

    Hi Gurus
    When i implementing a SP15 to SP16 in a queue, i got the Dump.
Please help me in this issue.
The import was stopped, since an error occurred during the phase
IMPORT_PROPER, which the Support Package Manager is unable to resolve
       without your input.
After you have corrected the cause of the error, continue with the
import by choosing Support Package -> Import queue from the initial
screen of the Support Package Manager.
The following details help you to analyze the problem:
           -   Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
           -   Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
           -   Return code: 0008
           -   Error message: OCS Package ALL, tp step "6", return code 0008
       Notes on phase IMPORT_PROPER
In this phase repository objects and table entries are imported. This
phase can terminate due to the following reasons:
o   TP_INTERFACE_FAILURE: The tp interface could not be called.
o   TP_FAILURE: The program tp could not be executed. For more
information on this, see the SLOG or ALOG log file.
o   TP_STEP_FAILURE: A tp step could not be executed. To find the cause
of the error, see the appropriate log, such as the import log.
If the cancelation message contains a tp step 6, N or S, the step in
question is independent of the transport request. You can find these
logs under the node Import steps not specific to transport request
           in the log overview.
Alternatively, you can find these logs in the following files in the
log directory of your transport directory (usually:
           /usr/sap/trans/log):
        -   tp Step 6: P<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
        -   tp Step N: N<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
        -   tp Step S: DS<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
You can display these files using the report RSPUTPRT or by calling
        transaction AL11.
A prerequisite of the Support Package Manager is that the Change and
Transport System (CTS) is configured correctly. For more detailed
information, read the online documentation available from Help -> SAP
Library -> mySAP Technology Components -> SAP Web Application Server ->
    Change and Transport System .

    My OS platform is  HP-UX B.11.23 IA64

    Actual Result: error

Checking for Oracle Home incompatibilities ...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<<
OUI-15038: Unable to execute rule 'CheckCompatibility' from ruleset 'CompatibilityChecks'. The underlying test 'oracle.sysman.oip.oipc.oipcz.OipczCompatibilityChecks.checkProductCompatibility' has thrown an unhandled exception [value for param now is null]. If the exception results in a failure of the test and the exception needs to be propagated, then encapsulate the exception in the result object and return the result.
Recommendation: Choose an existing Oracle Database 10g Oracle Home for installing this software.

Any advise will be much appriciated!

    Hello,
The same problem is documented on Oracle metalink:
OUI 10.2 Prerequisite Check Fails With OUI-15038 And "[value for param now is null]" [ID 602059.1]:
    Cause
Some kernel tunables (parameters) have been changed but the new values will not be activated until the next server reboot
    Solution
Reboot the server so that the kernel tunable (parameter) changes are activated before installing the Oracle software
    Workaround
The errors/warnings can be ignored and the Oracle installation can be completed successfully, but it is best to schedule a reboot of the server soon so that the pending kernel parameter changes are activated.
