Patch set of Developer 6i

Hi,
how can I know which patch set of Developer 6i is installed ?
Many thanks.

Hi,
You need click on menu "Help | About Forms Builder" and you will see the current version after the patch set have been applied, but not about what patch set was installed. (I'm not sure)
e.g.: version 6.0.8.22.1 is showed on the screen after patch set 13 have been applied.

  • FRM 40602 and Patch Set 9

We have a long (and potentially very boring) history of not being able to install patch sets for Developer Forms on our systems because of various bugs.
The last one to cause a problem was FRM 40602 Cannot insert or update data in a view which was first found in patch set 7. (Bug number was 1996710). This was still there in 8 and meant to be fixed in 9.
Support are looking at the problem but initial indications are that the bug has not been fixed - still waiting for confirmation.
My question is whether anyone else has sen this in PS9 - there has been a forum on Metalink stating this but I have not seen anything else.

We're using XP and have successfully been running Forms and Reports Runtime 6.0.17.1 and 6.0.17.0 for the past 3 or 4 months. However, just yesterday we came across this error only 1 system out of 40+ machines that run an application that uses both Forms & Reports R/T. I have spent around 8 hours today attempting to repair the problem without success. Yet when I go to another machine with the identical install and build, I can run the app without any problems under the same user id as on the machine that does not work. Our exact error that pops up is:
FRM-40602 Cannot insert into or update data in a view. field: LM_XREF.XREF_ENTITY_TYPE
After reading the message I am making this statement to, I never new there was a bug. I did a test with version 6.0.11.x before applying the patch and got it to work, but there is another bug in there that is repaired in version 6.0.13.x and re-appears in ver 6.0.17.1, so I want to apply the patches, but I don't, if you know what I mean. I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this problem? If so, I could use the help and hopefully others can benefit from this as well.
I have rebuilt the image and used various Oracle R/T, Net 8, ODBC, and SQL Net configurations but this one stumps me! $0+ machines working perfectly good and 1 does not, all the same build, with all the same Oracle middleware... I'm almost starting to think a wierd hardware problem.
    Cheers,

  • How to do in-place-upgrades with the new patch sets (11.2.0.2.0)?

    Hello,
Oracle has released the new patch set 11.2.0.2.0 for Oracle Database whose installation deviates from the previous patch set instructions. Are there any new deployment procedures available to do an in-place upgrade? We have a lot (about 100) of development databases here, most of them do not have enough hard disk space to do an out-of-place upgrade, so the need for updated deployment procedures is definetely there.
    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Hello Hemss,
I am trying to do an in-place-upgrade (replacing the old Oracle software completely because our test servers have only very little space). When you want to perform an out-of-place upgrade, things are more simple, but you need the disk space for a new Oracle home (about 6 GB on Linux-x64 in my case). Essentially, the steps are:
    1. You can keep the production database online during the next steps
    2. Install the new 11.2.0.2.0 into a new Oracle Home (an Oracle software directory which does not exist yet). Only install the software.
    3. Apply any post-11.2.0.2.0 patches if available and needed
    4. Schedule a maintenance window with your users
    5. Put the original database(s) in MOUNT mode (SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE followed by STARTUP MOUNT)
    6. Perform a FULL backup of both database and old Oracle home, just to be on the safe side.
    7. Set your enviromnent: ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE should point to your NEW installation, ORACLE_SID to your production database.
    8. Start netca to create a new LISTENER for your new software installation (you might want to use a different port than your previous installation in case you need to run both at the same time)
    9. Start dbua from the new Oracle Home and follow the on-screen instructions. You can either create an updated copy of the database (needs more disk space but you can easily switch back to your orginal DB), or you change the database to fit your new Oracle version (needs less space, but you need to run the scripts to downgrade to the old release if you need to go back)
So, as long as you have plenty of disk space, things are not that difficult at all. Of course, you should always read the release notes and the full installation guides for the new version because there might be new features or behaviours that affect your database. It is also highly advisable to test this on a completely different machine first.
You can find the complete upgrade guide here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/toc.htm
    Best regards,
    Andreas

  • Checking patch set

I am asking these questions bcos I want to do an upgrade of the 11.5.9 database from 91 to 10g..........pls don't be offended by these questions as i want to get all right.
Please how do I know if Developer 6i 's patch set........it says the minimum must be patch set 17.
    Thanks

From the application, click on Help > About and check for the forms version. Compare it with the Forms version listed in Note: 232313.1 - Information on Previous Versions of Developer 6i Patchsets
    For example:
    - If forms version is 6.0.8.24.x, then you are running Developer Patch 15
    - If forms version is 6.0.8.25.x, then you are running Developer Patch 16
    - If forms version is 6.0.8.26.x, then you are running Developer Patch 17

  • Installing Patch Set 16

I've completed the installation of Oracle Forms developer and forms server 6i Patch Set 16, on top of an older version of forms developer . I was hoping that I could verify that the patch was correctly applied.
Is it safe to assume that patch set 16 has been completely applied, if the installation completed successfully and the version within "ifrun60.exe" is 6.0.8.25? Is there anywhere else that I should check?
I was confident that the patch set had been correctly applied, until I took a look at the release notes that lived in ....
start --> all programs --> Oracle forms 6i --> release note - PDF format
these release notes read to the effect of patch set 15, not patch set 16.
Thank you in advance for your help....

I don't have access to Metalink since we are using the evaluation kit. My "/etc/oraInst.loc" file have this content:
    inventory_loc=/home/oracle/oraInventory
    inst_group=oinstall
/home/oracle/oraInventory9 is valid and does contain my installation's inventory.

  • Download Patch Set without Oracle Support Identifier

How do you download the Patch Set under the developer licences. I don't have a Oracle support identifier.
The relevance of this question is, when you have 4.2 on an Oracle Express instance how do you upgrade it to 4.2.1
Can the 4.2.1 full download be used?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The developer base volume and software application user volumes have to be miles apart. :-)
And commercial reality I expect will come from the user volume base (as in users using software built by developers).
It is the era of .99cent apps and that model is effective when you have large consumption. How about all forum users have a registration fee of $2.00? :-)
Anyway's the current scenario is not increasing take-up :-)
e.g. Developer downloads express edition, this comes with a version of apex. Along comes new apex version. Now what is the upgrade path to try/test the new features.
Keep in mind release cycles are shorter nowadays.
We live in the era of VM's now.
I want to be making 1 steps forward (upgrade apex) not 2 step back(export applications and misc, un-install apex) and then 2 steps forward (install apex, import applications and misc).

Patch 6194129 is the main patch (Developer 6i Patch 19). However, you still need to download all additional patches and Oracle Applications 11i Interoperability Patch which are mentioned in the same document.

  • Installation of Patch Set 9.2.0.7 on Windows XP Pro SP2 fails

When I tried to apply patch set 9.2.0.7 to my 9.2.0.5 installation on a computer with MS Windows XP Pro SP2, shortly after the selection of the target Oracle home directory the installer told me to shut down a large number of Windows processes (like RAS, RPC, etc., about 30 in total) that are not related at all to the installation.
Am I getting anything wrong? Or is this a bug (as I would suspect)?

You are facing an annoying problem with Oracle installation on Windows.
It seems, some files are locked by
other processes than the Installer process.
The following workaround worked (for me):
Temporarily remove the reference to the Oracle Home at system startup
    1. Rename the Oracle Home \bin directory to \bin_save
    2. Reboot the system
    3. Rename the bin_save directory back to bin again
    4. Start patch installation again

  • Do I need a patch set?

I am working to install OAM 10.1.4.0.1 to accomplish an IIS SSO integration. I have installed the 10.1.4.0.1 Idendity Server and WebPass on a windows install of OID. Looks like I now need to install Policy Manager and Access Server as well. Finally I will be able to install and configure the IIS WebGate to get SSO functionality. It is my impression I need the 10.1.4.2.0 patch set for this to all work. I am looking at the download page and see the "Oracle Adaptive Access Manager 10g (10.1.4.2.0)" and the "Oracle Virtual Directory 10.1.4.2 Patchset". I do not see an OIS 10.1.4.2 patchset. Can someone please provide some guidance on this.
    Thanks,
    John

IIS SSO will work on OAM 10.1.4.0.1.
10.1.4.2.0. is a full patch set that you can apply to all components. Many folks are running 10.1.4.0.1 in production today.
You don't need to touch OVD or OAAM based on your stated goal.

  • Problem running Sample Application after intalling patch set 4.0.2.00.07

We just applied the patch set 4.0.2.00.07 on our TEST environment APEX4.0.
Now I can't run the sample application. When I run the application, login using either the admin or the demo user with the #lower_case_workspace_name#", the browser is generating below error message:
    ORA-06550: line 2, column 8: PLS-00201: identifier 'CUSTOM_AUTH' must be declared ORA-06550: line 2, column 1: PL/SQL: Statement ignored

The sample application works fine on our DEV environment APEX 4.0.0.00.46 *without* the patch set 4.0.2.00.07.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this
    Thanks

    Varad -
I see that these functions are missing on the TEST environment parsing schema. I will have our DBA rectify the issue.
