Patch tool, why mess with something that wasn't broken?

I edit a large amount of product photography and I used to use the patch tool frequently to fix areas that needed cleaned up that had some sort of detail. Below you will find an image I was correcting and the result. I was not trying to get rid of the little nub, just replace it with one that looked better.
I tried to use the content replace tool as well and it not only changed the area I was trying to correct but the part I was taking from. It also left a weird shape around the part I replaced. See images below.

I updated to firefox 4 and it's not as good as the former version. There is no refresh button, and I use that a lot. There is no loading status bar at the bottom of the page and I liked the tabs BELOW the page address.
Why do you keep changing things, just for the H**L of it...

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (Refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. Why mess with Apple TV Rental menu?

Talk about making it harder for customers!
Rentals use to be simple - it was on the main menu but I can't see it anymore. Now I have to search through the Settings and then find Rentals and then watch it sitting there spinning away!
Who is messing with the simple beauty of the menu systems?
Surely it doesn't need to be this hard Apple!

Ok - logged out and had to log back in and it's back. Why does an update mess things up? Oh well. Now off to the Apple store to fix my iPhone 5 that doesn't work as well.

Repeat the currently playing song: Choose Controls > Repeat > One.

I'm having trouble with something that redirects Google search results when I use Firefox on my PC. It's called the 'going on earth' virus. Do you have a fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

I'm having trouble with a virus or something which affects Google search results when I use Firefox on my PC ...
When I search a topic gives me pages of links as normal, but when I click on a link, the page is hijacked to a site called 'www.goingonearth.com' ...
I've done a separate search and found that other users are affected, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut solution ... (Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky don't seem to be able to detect/fix it).
I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

And it affects IE, too? Ya probably picked up some malware and you blame it on Firefox.

Tabbing isn't working on my Firefox 3.6.10. I am pretty sure it has something to do with something that has been added, but I have no idea what. How do I find what has stopped my tabbing from working?

I have the "open new windows in new tab instead" marked in Firefox 3.6.10 and it used to work for me just fine, but now it has stopped working and I don't know if it has something to do with some extension or update that has been done or not.

Your above posted system details show multiple Java Console extensions.
You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension as you do not need them to run Java applets.

Have you hired all of the lame staff at Microsoft? One of these days you nerds will find out that life is too short to have to worry about learning every task anew each morning. The automobile industry, as bad as it is, has never done anything as stupid as you do gooders! Who would imagine walking out to their car one morning to find the steering wheel had been moved to the back seat. Who could imagine calling GM or Ford and being told that the car you bought to transport 6 people can now only transport 4, because they decided to do away with half of the front seat to improve visibility for the driver who must now sit in the back seat. You may think this is a stupid analogy, but I ask you "Why is any analogy necessary?". You have not justified your sweeping changes like "moving the tabs from the bottom to the top" and then requiring one to download another program to "FIX" this - good God man - THINK! New here, but with something that's a little bit old.

Hi there, I'm SChief. My real name is Sanjeev. The reason why I've registered myself here is because a friend of mine gave me an old laptop (he didn't need it anymore). Don't panic, but it's a oldschool Tecra 8100. Normally I wouldn't pay any attention to such a old laptop, but this one is in mint condition. It has only be used for 80 days (eighty!), which is like ehm, nothing for a business laptop back in the day. The chassis is like new and it only has a few minor scratches which you don't even see when you're not looking for it. So because it's in a great condition, I would like to give it a nice second life. While I was searching for some information about this laptop, Google sends me 9 out of 10 times to this forum, which has a lot of useful information.
So, I wanted to start with a little hard drive upgrade. I have a Toshiba MK4026GAX (40GB, 4200RPM) sitting here on my desk, and I would like to put this one in my Tecra. So I removed the old 10GB HDD, disconnected it from the case, attached the case to the 40GB HDD, and pushed it back into the laptop. All good so far. But the misery starts now. When I turn the laptop on, the Tecra doesn't see the HDD. I'm completely hopeless, because I really don't know what to do (it already has the newest BIOS)... I'm sure that the 40GB HDD is alright, because I've removed it from a laptop that was still working. I hope that someone here has some more information for me.
I also noticed that finding memory is kinda hard for this laptop. It seems that the Tecra only accepts the Kingston KTT-SO100/256, and it's impossible to find a set of these (and if you've finally found a shop, the prices are sky high). I've mailed Toshiba Netherlands (I live in the Netherlands), and asked if they had some old stock. Unfortunately, they did not.
Maybe it's smarter to open a new topic in the right sub-forum for these questions, but for now, I'll see what happens. Forgive me for my long story and my bad English by the way.

I inherited a 3GS with music that wasn't all purchased from iTunes. I am trying to synch back to iTunes so I can add to my iPad2 but can't seem to do it.

cannot be done. By design, when you synch the phone with a different iTunes library, it will wipe the phone and replace what's in the current iTunes library on the computer
This is to prevent music stealing, which is what you're trying to do: use someone else's music.

Dear Mozilla, I'm afraid you have repaired something which wasn't broken.

This isn't so much a question as a feedback. I am a HUGE fan of Firefox and reject all other browsers. I downloaded Firefox 4 and tried using it. Very quickly I reverted to the last version of Firefox 3, which is far more user-friendly and right from the beginning, the first views (icons, general layout, management of add-ons and plug-ins etc.) put me right off. I'm all for progress and for getting used to new layouts etc., but frankly what is on offer in version 4 for the simple user is inferior to the old version. Sorry!

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.

If you are sticking with Firefox 3.6 it is best to use the latest version, the one you have installed has quite a few known security bugs. You can get the latest version from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Yet again you have managed to "fix" something that was not broken.
Creative cloud has been nothing but aggro since I installed it, wish I could stay on CS5......not that that is much better mind.
I have created documents with the fonts installed before I swapped to CC, now when I open them it replaces the font with default Myriad and the correct font has gone from my fonts menu. Why? the fonts are obviously already installed otherwise how would I have created it in the first place?
Please sort this out Adobe, your products used to be the industry standard. Now they are just SUB STANDARD with no competition, and most users feel they are being short changed because we don't have any other option. Not really good enough is it?

It may operate with all the same features...but where are they...not on the iTunes desktop
where one could surf iTunes to look at, get, explore

Sorry I just cant see how you can compare iTunes 10.7 & iTunes 11 - yuo are in the minority !!
Everyone I speak to has the same view on this:
That 11 hasnt the same user interface & controlability.For me this is fundamental in the way I used iTunes to "surf" what was available from what I already had.I find the way I have to go through things in a list poor to unusable. OK Apple may want to have the same interface accrooss the whole product platform - but why the capability of a Mac with a omplete keyboard & larger screen allows for more possibilities than say an iPhone which I reackong any user will realise & accept...basically the iTunes on mac platform has been dumbed down & is now far less capable
The search "engine" that hasnt got fields to select to narrow down or focus a search is just riduculous & it doesnt work that well as whats comes back has to be searched through again.
Using iTunes 10.7 & before was an "adventure" into music or material you knew & you found things you didnt know about & to do this was easy & enjoyable. Ifound previosly I could find a single track out there quickly & also explore.
Whats happened is fundamentally bad - lets give a comparison - say if the whole user interface of the MacOS or write was altered, made significantly different...everyday tasks that you could do before had to be re learnt or just couldnt be done.
Even Microsoft are carefull about making changes to the way things work & the way that a user interfaces with this...one carefull step at a time OK Microsoft "things" have to recieve this type of carefull scrutiny & adjustment - but Microsoft onthe whole take thier customers with them. Learning point that Apple have yet to realise & learn from
Previous to this from Lion to Mountain Lion there was Frontrow a simple little program that gave a feature that me for one used (& enjoyed) regularly.....on the Mac doing something important...take a break, relax & enjoy some music...one press of the remote & you had all you music & videos there to be used...like a big iPod...really ver good. Finished relaxing or taking a break get back to work just where you left off, an impressive feature that was taken awy & replaced with NOTHING.
So for me at least the usability & functionallity of the Apple experience has deteriorated...for no appreciable gain....for just a commonality of controls accross the products.
Its called "change for changes sake" & in this case the customers werent consulted they were totally ignored in being left with something that is retrograde.
The very fact that I am here with others making comment is proof postive that the situation is a definate backwards step. I just hope that for Apple its a "blip" i.e. an error that will realised & corrected...

all backed up ona time capsule.
We have lived through the bad times & good...I realise that Steve Jobs cant come back...but I am sure he would have listed & then gone back to the teams & forced the change backs through.

Replacing BT HH4 with something a lot better? ...

I wonder if anyone can help me here?
I currently have BT Infinity on a FTTC so therefore copper wire to the house.
There is a separate BT Openreach modem feeding a BT Home Hub 4.
Previously (pre Infinity) I had a Belkin N wireless modem router (F5D8636-4 v2), which obviously didn't have the speed available, but certainly offered a really good range with very little drop off in terms of performance.
I've suffered BT Home Hubs in the past and consequently have very little faith in them; so it was no surprise to me when the other evening I couldn't even stream BBC iPlayer to my Panasonic BluRay despite the HH4 being only 4.5M "line of sight" from the BluRay player! Having put up with a decrease in range this was the last straw. So I'm now looking to replace the BT HH4 with something that has a decent range.
The site is not large, basically a two bedroom bungalow which contains:
1x iMac, 1x iPad, 1x iPod 2x iPhone, 1x PC work laptop & 1x Android work mobile
I was considering an Apple Airport Extreme. You may've noticed an Apple bias? But I'm not too dogmatic about that & can be reasonably open-minded!
What I really want to know is which product is going to give me the best range / connection speeds?
Any sensible help gratefully received & yes I do understand that BT won't support anything else, but they also don't want to be responsible for the poor performance of their HH4.

I upgraded to a HH5, which was pretty mediocre - especially with gaming. There was also compatibility issues with some Apple products, especially with the linked 2.4 & 5 GHz SSID - which can be unlinked. I recently changed to a Netgear R7000, which meant connecting to the Openreach modem again, but no issues and no complaints from the gamers in the house, and excellent wireless coverage. My Mac is fairly recent and shows a 1Gigabit connection on 5GHz.
We also use a number of powerline adapters - usually with a local switch to accommodate Sky boxes, PCs and games consoles - and this has been pretty successful - although I'll run some Cat5 or 6 in when redecorating allows.
