  • R12.1.3 - Patch Wizard no longer working after CPU upgrade

    R12.1.3 on RH Linux x86_64.
Just upgraded my R12.1.3 environment to get to the Jan 2013 CPU level and decided to setup Patch Wizard to see what it shows now.
Previously I had to apply patch "10629956 - Oracle Applications Patch Wizard" to get patch wizard to work with our proxy server.
Initially I just went ahead and applied that patch again to my new config but still couldn't get past this error:
Validation Error. Please check the indicated fields below.
Unable to connect to Metalink. Please enter a valid Metalink userid and password.
Please also check if the Web Proxy Setup information is correct.
Now upon further investigation I see there is an updated patch:
Patch 16357991 for the latest version of Patch Wizard in Oracle E-Business Suite (Release 12.1)
This Patch has been Superseded.    Reason 16357991 included in 11071638
I applied patch 11071638 but I still get the same validation error.
    Pre-req patches R12.AD.B.delta.3 [9239089] and R12.ATG_PF.B.delta.3 [8919491] had been applied.
I still have an older instance running and patch wizard works properly with the same credentials and proxy server settings there.
So how do I troubleshoot this?

Did you bounce the application services and see if this helps?
Please also review (New Required Patches for Patch Wizard, Patch Manager, and Oracle Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 11i, 12.0, and 12.1 [ID 1267768.1]) and make sure you have all the patches applied.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Patch Wizard - Details Result is empty

Just setup Patch Wizard in a Test R12.1.3 environment.
Everything seemed to go as planned.
Just chose the default 'Recommended Patches' filter
    - all the Requests completed Normally
    - Recommended Patches Results Page shows Unapplied=248; Total (Applied and Unapplied=346)
But when I click on the Details Icon at the far right hand side of the page it doesn't list anything?
Before I ran Patch Wizard I applied 17270136 (but I applied it hot so now I am thinking perhaps I need to bounce it?).

Yes, please bounce the application services and check then.

  • 11i Patch Wizard - MOS credentials not working

    Linux x86
    DB 10.0.2.4
    11.5.10.2
    AD.I.6
    ATG.RUP-6
I am trying to use the Patch Wizard. I just applied patches 10405353 and 10123716 and still cannot get the MOS credentials to work -- receiving this error: "Unable to connect to Metalink. Please enter a valid Metalink userid and password. Please also check if the Web Proxy Setup information is correct."
I am pretty sure that we do not have a proxy server and I have entered the credentials correctly.
I also used the SYSADMIN user.
The only other potential issue is that I have both "s_proxyhost" and "s_proxyport" defined in the CONTEXT file.
In MOS note 297689.1 is says that if we are not using a proxy then they should be null.
Does that mean I need to set them to null using OAM and then run autoconfig?
    Thanks, Chaz

Great, making these "s_proxy" values null then requires controlled patch 7582470 what has a pre-req of patch 11i.FIN_PF.G (400+ MB) which we don't have.
I can't believe that I have to move to 11i.FIN_PF.G to use the Patch Wizard.
I have a test R12 instance where this worked just fine.
I'll open an SR and see if there are any other options.
    Thanks, Chaz

  • Error - While Updating Metalink Credentials for Patch Wizard in R12

Error coming while doing : Update Metalink Credentials for Patch Wizard
"Unable to connect to Metalink. Please enter a valid Metalink userid and password. Please also check if the Web Proxy Setup information is correct."
We are not using Proxy Server. When i try to login to Support.oracle.com using same user it works. But throwing error using Patch Wizard. Can anyone tell me that why this error is coming ??
    Regards,
    Priyanka Pawar

Regarding Backup as it is Application Level patch, is it fine if i take Backup of $ORACLE_HOME for Application Tier ?You will have to take a full backup (which means all the application/database tier files -- i.e. all the directories after you shutdown all the services cleanly).
    1. After that I need to 'Enable Maintenance Mode' using adadmin utility
    applmgr>$adadmin
    2. Source Env file for Application Tier
    applmgr>$ . SID_hostname.endYou mean env file.
    3. Stop all Application Services
    applmgr>$ . adstpall.sh
    4. Copy patch to Directory
    5. Unzip
    6. applmgr>$ cd /u01/patch/10629956
    7. After that apply patch using adpatch utility
    applmgr>$ adpatch
    8. Disable Maintenance Mode
    9. Start Application Tier Services
    10. Retest Correct.
Can I follow these steps ? Yes.
By default value of parameter "apply" is "y" so does it apply patch intest mode? I nned to specify it to "n" or should i test it first as i m doing this first time. You do not need to test it if you take a backup, and this is a small patch so you should be OK :)
If in case anything goes wrong can I restore my Application Services back using old Oracle_Home backup ?Yes.
Note: Please edit the post before the previous one as it contains the contents of MOS document and this violates Oracle support agreement policy.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Patch Wizard not Merging Patches

I an trying to use the Patch Wizard in 11.5.10 on Windows. I am able to download patches but the "Merge" does not seem to be working for me. I have the "Merge Options" I have:
"Automatically merge downloaded patches" = checked
    "Merged Patch Name" = merged_2010050581719
"Merging Strategy" = Two merged patches: US; non-US
All requests complete successfully and it downloads the patches to the location I set "D:\Oracle\OAMPatchWizard". However it does not unzip them or merge them.
    Any idea on this?

I have tried a few different patch groups just for tersting:
    1. 5120432, 4255826, 4179434
    2. 5120432, 4255826, 4179434, 6853134, 6804367, 5200052, 4016675, 3591687, 5140723, 8768103, 8567963, 8549599, 8542643, 8531750, 8488400, 8399189, 8364720, 6998848, 5912291, 5244165, 4429228, 9351039, 7597151, 7555553, 7534124

    None of these worked.
I have reviewed the documents and have not seen anything that helped.

  • Patch Wizard report in ebs 12.1.3

    Hi All,
I am using ebs 12.1.3 in oul5x64 . Using patch wizard to run analysis on a patch and i could go in OAM
to check for Patch Impact Analysis for Patch ...Everything works as it supposes to.
    Questions:
I can view the "Patch Impact Analysis for Patch" in OAM  but how can i print it out. I could not
find the print out feature anywhere or how can i use sqlplus to print out the result.
Appreciate if someone can advise or provide Oracle notes for this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

This feature is not available yet and we already have (ER 9703082 -- PROVIDE REPORT OR EXPORT BUTTON FOR PATCH WIZARD OUTPUT SUMMARY+IMPACT ANALYSIS) logged for the same.
    Thanks,

  • Issues with patch wizard utility

We downloaded the infobundle manually due to issues with metalink credentials, When we go to run a patch recommendaiton report (with the second filter in the list) it is still giving the error in the log:
"WARNING: The MetaLink Credentials have not been set up.
Please use the MetaLink Credentials page to enter the login credentials you use to connect to the Oracle MetaLink.
The MetaLink Credentials page can be accessed from Setup (Icon on the top right) > MetaLink Credentials link."
Why would it fail if you have already downladed the bundle manually.
Also it shows further down the error log:
"Error : Not able to download the infobundle
Not able to find infobundle in staging area
    Infobundle not already uploaded

  • Has anyone got OA Framework Tutorial working on R12 Jdev 10g?

I have successfully got the tutorial for OA Framework working on my Apps 11.5.10 install with very few problems.
I now have Apps R12 installed and have downloaded the correct Jdev 10g with OA Framework patch, but I am hitting some a number of errors. I can see that the tutorial code and documentation is the same as Jdev 9i, and has not been updated. Taking this in to account I am adapting the tutorial to the Jdev 10g, but I am hitting deployment problems in the local OC4J container, where AppsLogin is being requested and not found.
I therefore wonder whether anyone out there has got the tutorial to work in Jdev 10g?
I'm happy to try and figure it out for myself, but I would prefer to know that it is relatively straight forward to do.

Yes I'm getting the following error message:
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: Application: FND, Message Name: SECURITY_APPL_LOGIN_FAILED.
I have seen this elsewhere on the forum but they all relate to Jdev 9 on 11.5.10. I wanted to know whether anyone else had got OA framework tutorial working on R12 because then I know from that one fact whether it is possible on the code that Oracle has released; any problems I encounter are then likely to be setup/installation/config issues that I should be able to resolve myself.
I'm surprised that no one has yet just given me a 'yes' given the number of experienced developers on the forum.
BTW, the full stack trace is:

  • Choosing 'Export', I confront 'Error 108' message. Exporting  with file format mp4, etc doesnot work.

Choosing 'Export'  in file menu, QuickTIme pro (v.7.7.4) ,   I confront 'Error 108' message   with WIndows 7.
    Namely
Error-108 : an unknown error occurred.
As a results  Exporting  with file format mp4, etc doesnot work. (windows 7. Quick time player v.7.7.4)
What are the reason? How do I operate this ?
    Thank you.

boom! that advice was correct and worked. i was able to export the full project as a quicktime movie and it can be uploaded to youtube.
NOTE, theres is definately quite a few noticeable audio glitches/lags/pops that werent there before doing this. I believe, and will test to make sure, that having a project such as this one needs to render before exporting. I'm not sure if the advice requires the project to be unrendered before exporting for a specific reason, because if it will export fine after rendering the project that's the way to go. like i said the edited version i have in my timeline plays back perfectly but this exported version has quite a few noticeable audio glitches (a few video glitches too). I'm going to retry doing the first few steps of your advice, but then at the end render, then export and compare the results...
OK, so this leads to a big question, Is this something that is standard for everyone when trying to export? If its not, what causes this error?
is there any way of preemptively avoiding it in future projects?
thanks again, and hopefully this information will help others as exporting seem to be one of the biggest problems in fcpx. any word on a new patch or firmware update?

  • Quarterly CPU and Patch Wizard

We run an EBS 12.1.3 environment on Linux x86_64.
Patching has always been 'as required' and the client is finding this is an ongoing battle so they would like me to tell them how much work it will be to start applying quarterly CPU updates. I have only looked at applying a CPU once and I am a little unclear how the CPU process will works in conjuntion with Patch Wizard.
My basic viewpoint is the CPU will list all the components affected and I would follow that overall process to:
    - first start with the database patching
    - then move on to the middle-tier
    - and lastly as in this case the application.
With EBS I am hoping the Patch Wizard will help me to get to the pre-reqs I need vs me having to manually check all that.
I have setup Patch Wizard in a Test instance and am just trying to decide if I should be looking at just "Recommended Patches" or "Recommended Patches and New Codelevels" or what the best practice is if any if my system is very out of date.
Does it make sense to view these two processes as working together or are the separate entities?

  • 11i Patching - Patch Wizard and Quarterly CPU's

I have been tasked with applying Oracle's quarterly CPU's to our 11.5.10 CU2 environment.
I have some experience applying patches via adpatch etc. but have never tried to apply a CPU before.
My experience so far has been a lot of reading, checking pre-reqs which lead to more pre-reqs, checking to see if they've been applied or not...
Seems to be a lot of manual checking and prone to error if something is missed.
I have done a little bit of work to try and start using Patch Wizard (so far applying patch to install 'Support' filter so I can at least verify I meet Extended Support requirements).
At any rate the real question here is can I use Patch Wizard to help me apply the oracle CPU's by verifying my config and providing me a list of patches that need to be applied?
Or can I not really do that but rather just get an up to date list based on when I submit my update request? Still trying to learn what all Patch Wizard can do for me.

  • Patch Wizard question

In our Dev instance (per our DBA, cloned from PROD) we were able to follow the following navigation to create a custom patch filter:
Sys Admin --> Dashboard --> Patch Wizard --> Define Patch Filters --> Recommended Patches and new code levels
--> selected the "CREATE LIKE" button. In the list of product families, we chose "E- Business Suite" to create the custom filter.
In our test instance (again cloned from the same prod), we do not see the "E- Business Suite" in the list of product familes.
Does any one have an idea why it won't show up?

I've installed the Support Filter on my 11.5.10 CU2 system and ran it as a test to make sure my system would qualify for Extended Support.
The overall status of the job shows Recommended=0 and New Code level=0 so at first appearance it looks good.
However if I check the job status and sub requests of my 'Support' job I see a couple of requests that ended with warning.
The first job 'Submit Recommended Patches (wrapper) shows this in the Request Log:

So is the overall status 'warning' due to the error where a couple of patches couldn't be uploaded but otherwise looks good.
My next step would be to submit a 'Recommended Patches' job or the 'Recommended and New Code Levels"?

    Hi,
So is the overall status 'warning' due to the error where a couple of patches couldn't be uploaded but otherwise looks good. You will need to download those patches and apply it manually -- Please see (OAM PADOWNLOAD AND PAANALYSIS CANNOT DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN 11.0 AND 11i PATCHES [ID 352212.1]) for details.
My next step would be to submit a 'Recommended Patches' job or the 'Recommended and New Code Levels"?Please see (Patch Wizard Utility [ID 976188.1]).
    Thanks,
    Hussein
