Patch XSS components confusion

in SAP Note 761266, it says "
You can only use this procedure if you have not made any modifications to the JAVA source code."
does this mean that if you deploy portal programs, you can not apply patch for XSS component?
Br,
Chrina

No,
When you first deployed XSS Portal Software Components which includes many Webdynpro Java apps, there is an option to customize them with JDI.
IF you haven't done it, then there will be no problem when applying them.
it's translation is as above

  • Urgent: About Comps.xml - Patchset, Patches and Components details.

    Hi,
In Comps.xml [in Oracle_Home\Inventory\ContentsXML folder] we have information about Patchsets, Patches and Components. According to my information
    I. TL_List: It has a list of all the patchset installed.
But when I looked in Comps.xml TL_List, I found that it contain two nodes
II. one is COMP_NAME and second is PATCHSET NAME.
Can any one tell me which information is correct First one or second one?
    null

I don't recall having seen a comps.xml in 8i installations (may be some other configuration can have it). In 8i, it was the .SER files under inventory/contents folder (I guess :-)).

    Hi guys,
I try to implement the ESS BP and taking in account SAP Note No. 761266 I have to patch the SW. BUT, the path to download the patches: "Entry by Application Group -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP -> SAP ERP2004 -> SAP XSS (Self Services) -> SAP ESS 100; SAP MSS 100; SAP PCUI GP 100." doesn't exist! When I try to search for it, no results are found...

  • Unable to patch OLAP components to 9.2.0.5

    Hi,
We had Oracle 9.2.0.1 enterprise edition installed with OLAP and data mining options along side OWB 9.2. We applied the patch set version 9.2.0.5 and followed all the steps listed in the readme for patch 3501955.
The database version seems to be patched to Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production, but the olap components did not get patched. They are still showing version 9.2.0.1 in the dba_registry.

  • SUM issue with XSS components during maintenance on NDWI controlled landscape

    Hello,
This is our first time using SUM/MOpz for a release upgrade procedure as the last JSPM update disabled the launch program.
During our test upgrade of our Enterprise Portal HUB landscape (source NW 7.02 -> target NW 7.4) with EHP5 for ERP 6.0 - XSS Self Services for backend ERP system installed. I've encountered an issue with SUM in the Configuration stage - Target Release Components screen. the only 5 objects SUM cannot handle automatically are the XSS Self Services target release components:
    SAPPCUI_GP         633
    SAP_ESS               633
    SAP_ESS_LGP     633
    SAP_MSS               630
    UTXSSLGP             633
The only option I have is to scan inbox to rebuild the component list. I'm assuming, since these components are being modified by us and delivered/deployed thru NWDI track, their source location on the system is now the track name instead of the SAP delivered MAIN_ERP53VAL_C. Which means that SUM is expecting updated modified SCAs from NWDI for new 633 versions in the download directory before proceeding to next phase. However, in NWDI landscape configurator for this track, I have checked the option to mark system in NWDI control and verified SUM recognizes the system as NWDI controlled.
I'm struggling to understand the where the disconnect is between SUM and NWDI for theses components as I thought that SUM is supposed to ignore the DEV NWDI developed and wait for updates modified SCAs only in QA and PROD. Does anyone else have experience with this process to help me?
    Regards,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
We are facing the same issue although we can see in the process Overview of SUM that the system is not ticked as under NWDI Control.
But we are facing problem only for SAP ESS and SAP MSS not other components. Other three components are coming up fine and ready for deployment. This is due to the issue that only these components are identified in the BUILD COMPONENT LIST UPGRADE step as modified.
Detailed checking of the logs led us to errors identical to the KBA 2034886 - Error: Dialog eliminator ConfirmComponentsDialogEliminator does not allow to omit dialog ConfirmComponents
The system should get picked as under NWDI control and following all steps of the upgrade for NWDI driven system landscapes

  • So many Components (confused)

Hello, i currently try to understand how flex works and how
    the whole components work togehter.
But Flex seems to have a lot of components and one component
includes other components, so it's hard to understand how they work
together and to find out what functions the different components
    have.
So, perhaps someone can give me a short introduction and a
    hierarchy of the several components.
PS: I've already looked into some pdf-documents but i
couldn't find a complete summary of the whole components.
    kind regards
    Daniel

Well I dont know much but since noone has answered yet ill
    give what little i understand:
Flash 9 = what flex requires to be displayed on a users
system, if they dont have it then there are small applications you
can include in your application folder that will install it for
    them(if everything gos right)
Flex 2 = i guess this i what youd call the framework, for all
i know theres tiny people in there performing voodoo to make stuff
happen, however your users only need to be able to install flash 9
    to use flex functionality
Flex Webservices = Ive never used this but from what i
understand its basically a pre built xml renderer with some built
in extras, no can just use your own data driven system to render
    the xml though
FlexBuilder = WYSIWYG application for building flex sites, i
had the beta and it actually worked alot better then what im
normally used to as far as WYSIWYG is concerned and i plan on
buying it the second im not spendin $15 a day on freakin gas.
FlexSDK = just lets you compile the .mxml plain text files
into the flex appliction, you need your own text editor to build
the apps and then use the sdk to compile them, i was really lost
when i first downloaded it but after using the beta for a few weeks
it makes sense now. You dont need Flexbuilder to use the sdk
I hope that helps, If it seems a bit simplistic, well I
really dont know a whole lot about this stuff yet.

  • XSS Stack 05 questions

    Dear all,
Yesterday xSS patch 5 has been released. I have found the release notes (note: 774661 - ERP 2004 SP Stack 5 (12/2004) Release and Information Note). After reading it, I have two questions regarding the Netweaver version. First a quote:
    <i><b>"SAP NetWeaver 04 NW 04 SP Stack 09 (10/2004)
Please use NetWeaver 2004 SR1 in an ERP 2004 environment only after availability and deployment of ERP 2004 SP Stack 02/2005 (expected for week 7/2005)
    See also http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04 -> Operations "</b></i>
    1. ERP 2004 SP Stack 02/2005 (expected for week 7/2005). Is this xSS/ECC5.0 Stack 6 (week 7/2005 in SAP Support Package Stack Schedule)?
    2. Only Netweaver 04 <b>SR1</b> is mentioned. We are upgrading every time, from SP2 till SP9. Can we use Stack 05 on our environment (ECC5.0/NW SP9)? I cannot imagine the xSS components are released without the dependent other components.
    Kind regards,
    Noel

    Hi Noel,
    > - ECC 5.0 stack 4
    > - xSS stack 4
    > - Netweaver SP9
thats all included in ERP 2004 SP Stack 4, so You are fine.
    > We are NOT intended to install SR1.
    Thats also fine.
    > We will upgrade
    > to NW SP10 (when it will be released).
    > If we move to ECC 5.0 stack 5 and xSS stack 5, will
    > it work then?
Of course You are free to use e.g. SAP BASIS 6.40 SP 10 together with SAP_APPL 5.00 SP 5, but SAP does not recommend it.
What You desribe is like the old SAP policy stating something like "Always use the latest SP for each component You are using."
The current SAP policy says "The SP Stacks are sets of Support Packages and patches for the respective product version that must be used in the given combination"
For details please look into www.service.sap.com/sp-stacks.
Perhaps there is a slight confusion about the term "SP Stack":
In the SAP Terminology here is there is a ERP 2004 SP Stack including many SPs, like all of the NW 04 SP Stack it is based on. All SPs described in note 774661 make the Stack 5 (12/2004).
I would recommend to use ERP 2004 SP Stack 5, which is based on NW 04 SP Stack 9. And in the next step go to ERP 2004 SP Stack 6, which is based and validated on NW 04 SP Stack 10.
I hope I could omit further confusion.
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

  • Is forms 10g Patch set 3 (10.1.2.3)  released?

    Hi All,
I checked metalink for information regarding Patch set 3 (10.1.2.3) and could see none.
    Is this released yet?
    Thanks
    Rajesh ALex

    Regarding the size:
There are almost 1200 fixes in the code line and this means that a lot of the code is being touched by fixes, making the patch set large. Since we don't patch individual components any longer we have this situation. It would be good to have a smaller footprint but in the mean time I recommend a download manager to handle the case of an interrupted download.<br>
I tried a download manager the other day called Free Download Manager. It worked really well and it is free as the name implies. I pulled out the network cable to simulate a break and it happily continued from where it left off when the network went down. Until Oracle does what Sun does: incorporate a download manager into the downloads this is a good solution to the problem of interrupted downloads that you have to start from the beginning with.

  • Kernel patch for Unix (Solaris)

    Hello!
I have to patch, after successful installation, the SAP Solution Manager.
I know this operation is automatically can be executed with JSPM.
But in order to replace disp-work, R3Trans and TP I have to do this manually.
For this issue I have to stop all relevant processes, e.g. SAPOSCOL, DB-relevant-processes (Oracle)
In Windows area I would just stop all the processes.
<b>How this can be done in Unix area, should  the processes be killed?</b>
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hi
You can patch java components and kernel using JSPAM. But ABAP part can only be done using SPAM. To start you have to stop SAP ( bot JAVA and ABAP ) ,
stop SAP will take care of this , it should stop database and SAPOSCOL by itself. If saposcol didnt stop , use command
saposcol -k to stop the saposcollector. If it didnt stop you can kill it ( last option ) by
    kill -9 <process id >
stop sap will stop database and its related process. If tns listner is still running , stop it by using
    lsnrctl stop
    Thanks

  • Patch of SOLMAN to SPS 15

    Hi!
I ahve the problem to patch SOLMAN from SPS 13 to SPS 15.
When I try to patch them the following error appears:
Please include the CRT for ...
Can some one describe  the order of patch of components or to tell how do I get the appropriate CRT?
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hi Thom,
Here is a time table for applying SPS from 13 to 15
    1.) Make a database backup
2.) Stop CI und DB. Then change the kernel. Start DB and CI
    3.) Apply latest SPAM/SAINT patch
4.) Apply OSS Note 1075012 before continue
    5.) Apply SP13
    6.) SAINT upgrade to ST-SER 700_2008_1
    7.) Apply SP14 and 15
8.) Finally apply OSS Note 1128026
9.) If needed apply Java Stack 15 via JSPM on OS level
    Remarks:
If you are starting from SP12 then you first have to apply OSS Note 1042866. Direct after do an upgrade via SAINT to ST-SER 700_2007_1. Afterwards apply SP12 via SPAM and continue at topic 1.).
Before starting you should set dynamically the profile parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time to 3000 seconds via transaction RZ11. Make sure you have always 2.5GB free space in directory /usr/sap/trans.
    Cheers, Ingo.

  • Patch Oracle ODBC 9206 Client

    Hi,
I have an application on Oracle 9.2.0.4 (communicating with Oracle 92.0.4 client) needing a patch to the ODBC part versus 9.2.0.6.
My question is where I do I found this patch Oracle ODBC 9206 Client. I've just found a Patch for ODAC 9.2.0.4 or 9.2.0.7 but not 9.2.0.6?
    Thanks for your response
    Best regards.
    Phil

Patch sets, bundles and patches are downloaded from Metalink. Use the Database patch set first. Then look for specific patches for components such as OLE DB or ODBC.
