Patches apply thru solution manager

hi
please help me
I know down load patches from service market place ( www.service.sap.com/swdc) but after april 2nd,2007
onward releases should be aprove from solution manager after we can down load from market place.I want to know where we should approve in solution manager.

This can be done using the Maintenance Optimizer.
Before you're able to use this functionality, you need to configure it in the IMG (TA SPRO).
Then you can access it using TA DSWP (or TA SOLUTION_MANAGER), select a landscape and navigate to 'Change Management > Maintenance Optimizer'. Make sure your user account is linked with an OSS ID in SolMan.
More info can be found here: http://service.sap.com/solman-mopz
Best regards and good luck!

  • Process for applying for Solution Manager Key?

I have to install a NW2004s system in a AIX Machine.
I understand that i need a solution manager key for installation. We dont have solution Manager installed in our Landscape. But i came to know that i can request for a solution manager key from SAP
Please let me know the website, process for applying for Solution Manager key

    Balaji,
This is interesting, SAP is pushing customers to have solution Manager installed with features like Solution Manager Key, Maintainance Optimizer etc. It will get difficult for customers who do not have solution Manager running on their site.
You will have to create support message under the component XX-SER-SMKEY and request for solution manager key, provide them all the details of your system.
    Cheers,
    Nisch

              Thanks&Regards

    Hello
Solman will not implement the files you can download the files using Solman. You need to move the downloaded files to application server and implement them for that you need to configure MoPZ
You can go to server market place service.sap.com/RKT in that select Solution manager.
You will have to select the product as solution manager 7.0 and in technology consultants and system administrator you will find the configuration documentations in for for SIM files.
You can use that and learn how to configure the optimizer on the system.
Then you can download the files and implement the same.

    Vivek

  • Business Process thru Solution Manager

    Hi All
Can anybody help me  how to use Solution manager step by Step to map Business scenario.
It will be rewarded for early response.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vikram

    HI,
Login to solution manager and goto SPRO.
There you should be able to see CRM business scenarios like e-commerce, service, channel management, CIC etc.
Start configuring individual activities of your scenario the way you do in your CRM SPRO.
Later transfer the transports to the next system in your land scape.

  • Solution Manager - Support Packages

    Dear All,
We are applying patch for our SAP Solution Manager 4.0. We are using SAP ECC 6.0, We already applied patch for our development and production servers.
The following are the patch level in Solution manager
         BBPCRM             500          0007     SAPKU50007
         CPRXRPM     400          0007     SAPK-40007INCPRXRPM
         BI_CONT             703          0003     SAPKIBIIP3
         ST                     400          0010     SAPKITL420
         ST-A/PI     01I_CRM500     0000
         ST-ICO             150_700     0006     SAPK-15076INSTPL
         ST-SER             700_2006_2     0000
We downloaded all the above package, but struck in applying the patch. I want to know the hierarchy of the packages to apply, i confused in this level.
Could anybody let me know the order of above support packages to import.
    Regards,
    Sridhar S

As already mentioned, the best is to apply a complete Stack by the way you should do the complete job and update to EHP1 because your system will be still low in some SP's.
If you have done SP's installations per components and not per stacks then you could face problems after or during SP's installations so it will be way better to use the Stack Strategy.
But if you think you should go this way then in SPAM you can review New Packages and once there, every package will show up there prerequisites or level of the components (ex: SAPBASIS, ST_SER, ETC) that are necesary to be able to install any component SP's.
It is extremely important to read the Notes regarding the SP's, their dependencies and possible problems with some of them, for example, some SAPBASIS SP's cannot be applied alone or up to certain level because there are known problems and you should go one level up or down to avoid this problems.
Either way I have applied Stacks since they come out and it is better to use this strategy in our Solman with no problems at all.
    Have a nice day,

  • Solution Manager.

    Hi SolMan Experts,
I am working in an SAP implementation project, which is in its project planning phase.
Since i am new to Solman ,i have few things in my mind to clear.
How is Solman used while Implementation ?
Can Solman store multiple project docs centrally in 1 server ? Can it have a link to other SAP
       systems  ?
In post-implementation support activity ,can we log problems in Solman for getting solutions
directly from SAP support ? If yes then how it is done ?
Can we apply new patches directly from SAP market place into multiple SAP systems linked to
      SolMan?
    Thank your for your answers.
These will help me while using SolMan in our project.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Umesh Karane.
    Mobile - 98196 25133.

    Hi Umesh,
How is Solman used while Implementation ?*
During implementation you can use projects to manage your implementation.
                 solar_project_admin  -> To create projects
You can use it build blueprint of the project and basing on the blue print you can configure the target system.
               SOLAR01 - Blue printing SOLAR02 - Configuration.
for more information please check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/9a/90b441b60e3331e10000000a155106/content.htm
Once the blueprint is in place you can configure Business Process Monitoring later on this blue print during support.
Can Solman store multiple project docs centrally in 1 server ?*
You can store all the documentation you create during blue printing in solution manager under project documentation.
Can it have a link to other SAP
It can connect to target system which is to be configured ( After configuring some RFCs) .
If this doesnot answer your question please explain what you are looking for ?
In post-implementation support activity ,can we log problems in Solman for getting solutions*
directly from SAP support ? If yes then how it is done ?
The support messages raised in satellite systems will be created in Solution manager once you configure support desk and there is automated workflow through which you can send messages to SAP and you can get the replies of SAP in solution manager itself.
for more info please look at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/ff/6ea7a870ac469ea54cedd12666cc5d/content.htm
Can we apply new patches directly from SAP market place into multiple SAP systems linked to
Now you can only download the Support packs once you approve them through Maintenance Optimizer. After approving you still need to download through Download manager and apply them in systems. It is not handled by solution manager.
you can appy notes through SNOTE in all system through solutioin manager. You need to select the system where you want to apply from solution manager itself and it will apply that note in that system.
The complete documentation of Solution Manager 4.0 can be accessed at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/45/51fbdbd4941803e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

  • Production SLD in solution manager

    Hi,
I have small doubt regarding SLD (System Landscape Directory) in Solution Manager.
We have an Production SLD in Solution Manager dual stack system, and our Production System (Portals, BI, ERP, PI) was configured to Production SLD in Solution Manger.
We are planning to apply patches for our live production Solution Manager System, I know that SLD will stop while doing the Patches on Solution Manager and this will make our production systems stop working.
Therefore I need to know the correct way around this to allow us to patches for our Solution Manager system.
    Thanks and Regards
    Pavan Morishetty.

    Joshi,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
But in our company we don't want to change our Production SLD from Solman system to any other System (eg. PI, Portal).
If you any other suggestion please update me for applying the patches in Solman System.
    Thanks and Regards

    Could you help me ?
    Thanks
      Maurizio Manera

    Hello Mr Manera,
It is a known issue that the activating errors or issues with the objects in the common correction notes happen when the upgrade is done to SP23, notes applied, then upgrade again to SP25 or SP26.
The usual way to deal with this kind of error is running SPAU, letting the note go into an inconsistent state, then applying again the new version of the note. This may require to completely deimplement the common correction notes then implement them again.
    Have you tried doing this?
    Best regards,
    Miguel Ariñ

  • EWA on Non-ABAP System with Solution Manager EHP 1

    Hi Experts,
We have recently updated our solution manager from SP Stack 16 to EHP1 (sp 18). we are now planning to set up EWA for non-abap components (EP 7.0). however, the only SAP note that i have been able to find is "976054 - Availability of EWA for Non ABAP components" but this is only limited up to SP 17. I have not been able to find any guides relating to EWA thru Solution Manager EHP1.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can refer any documents or SAP notes that would enable setting up EWA for non-abap components thru Solution Manager EHP1.
We have also gone through the note 1332428, but we have'nt found it useful. We are still struggling to generate EWA report on Non-ABAP system.
Looking forward to your kind help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sarthak Syal

    Hi Sarthak,
    Good!!
    Please do  the following:
    1) include the system in the Solution and scheduled the EWA session.Logical component should refer to the Non-ABAP System with no ABAP instance as relevant under the SID definition in SMSY-systems.
    2) Is the Non -ABAP ( assuming its java) has the Software component defined and is mentioned as relevant under the SID with the component name and type.
    3) Having said that SMD - Root cause Analysis functionality is configured-> check whether you are getting the Details for the Non-ABAP systems in the analysis Tabs of Root Cause Analysis.
This should be good to go. Wait for the session to get completed.
    Thanks,
    Jagan

  • Using Solution Manager 7.0 to Generate Solution Key for SAP Netweaver 7.3 ?

    Hi, SDN Gurus.
We are running Solution Manager 7.0.
I am trying to generate solution key for SAP Netweaver 7.3 system. When I was creating a new system (in TCode SMSY);  I only see Newtweaver 7.1 is the latest version available in the SAP Netweaver  product version drop down list.
Is that true that I always need to upgrade the latest/compatible version (SP & patches) of SAP Solution Manager to generate solution key for the latest released of SAP products?
If this is the case, what version of SAP Solution Manager I need to create new system and generate solution key for SAP Netweaver 7.3?
    Thanks for advices,

01N_700SOL. Upload to tx SAINT (just as you would  do for an installation) and install as per note 69455

                                  distribution.
Implementation  We recommend that you implement the Supportpackage SP1 for ST-PI 2008_1* to solve the error. Only if

  • Applying BW Patch on Solution Manager

    Hello Experts,
    I have few doubts:
    1. How to apply BW patch (BI 7.0)on Solution Manager(3.0 or higher)
    2. If we apply BW patch on SM, how does it differentiate from BW system(Data Model, Reporting etc)
    3. Are there any websites or pdf files for SM with BI Patch.
    4. And, why do we need to apply apply BI patch on Solution Manager?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards,
    Thangjam

    Hi Thangjam,
I have only some infos for SolMan 4.0:
    - there is no difference between patching a 'stadalone BI' and a BI that is part of SolMan
    - of coruse, you have to make sure that the patch queues are consistent (CRT: ST)
    - for E2E Diagnostics, InfoCubes are used to store performance data, etc. (as of SolMan 4.0 SP 13)
    Kind regards,
       Bernd

    Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
You would need to proceed by moving to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 with required SP level.
For this, you would need to download the complete ABAP and JAVA support pack stacks for the target SP level.
Then, you can update the Java stack using JSPM and ABAP stack using SAINT
Please check SMP for guides. The following guide me also be helpful.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f09c8455-4036-2c10-c7a7-bc3c0879462b?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
