Patches for JDK 1.5.0_14?

Forum Moderator and Update Connection users:
Last week, Sun released an update of the JDK to version 1.5.0_14.
Although I could download and install it separately, I've been relying on updatemanager to apply JDK upgrades as patches. If I am not mistaken, those have been patches 118668 and 118669 for the 32-bit and 64-bit JDK, respectively. I believe that the latest patches in this series are 118668-14 and 118669-14 which patch to 1.5.0_13 (it appears as if it took both the -13 and -14 patches to get the JDK delivered ....).
In any event, I'm a little surprised that patches to upgrade to JDK 1.5.0_14 haven't yet appeared so I thought I'd check:
1. How long does it normally take to go from the release of a JDK in downloadable form to have it available as a patch?
2. When can we expect JDK 1.5.0_14 to be released as a patch?
3. If I simply download and install the latest JDK myself will this somehow confuse smpatch and updatemanager or will they continue to notice and supply future releases in patch form?
Thanks for your help,
John

Patches 118668-14 and 118669-14 were fixes to patches 118668-13 and 118669-13 for change request 6609269 so both sets are for Java 1.5.0_13.
I do not have details on when the 1.5.0_14 patches would be available but would assume soon.
Installing the Java download bundle should not affect Update Connection.

  • Where are patches corresponding to JDK 1.5.0_14?

    Forum Moderator and UC fans:
In general there have been patches corresponding to new releases of the Java JDK for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both SPARC and x86 architectures.
Specifically, patch 118666-* has been the 32-bit SPARC JDK release, 118667-* has been the 64-bit SPARC JDK release, 118668-* has been the 32-bit x86 JDK release, and 118669-* has been the 64-bit x86 JDK release.
However, JDK 1.5.0_14 was releasedl in early October 2007 and there are still no patches corresponding to this release even though it fixed many more bugs than the JDK 1.5.0_13 release that preceeded it and was promptly released as a patch. In fact all JDK 1.5.0_* releases prior to 14 HAVE been available as a patch. Why not this one?
Second note: In general, JDK 1.5.0_N has been available as patch 118666-N, 118667-N, 118668-N, and 118669-N. However, it took two tries to release JDK 1.5.0_13 as patches .... in other words, 118666-13 and 118666-14 were both released in order to properly release JDK 1.5.0_13.
Has the fact that 118666-14 (which is actually JDK 1.5.0_13) has been released somehow fooled Sun into thinking that JDK 1.5.0_14 is already available as a patch?
When can we expect JDK 1.5.0_14 (that is, 118666-15 and related patches ...) be released as a patch? UpdateManager is not very useful if important fixes either don't appear as patches or if they do not get recommended as being applicable.
    Thanks,
    John

    Forum Moderator:
Thank you for looking into this.
I understand that UpdateManager can only recommend patches that it knows about. And I understand that Java is a little "funny" in that you can often download and install a full update before a patch is available. However, getting 118666-15 and friends as a patch for JDK 1.5.0_14 has taken an extraordinarily long time. I know that is not your job or responsibility .... but it certainly seems as if these patches have been forgotten. Afterall, Tiger isn't undergoing any active development, correct? It's purely in bug-fix mode .... which, one would think, would be distributed as patches.
I can tell you that for a number of earlier patches in the JDK 1.5.0_* series that I found out about them via UpdateManager BEFORE I actually realized that they were available or had been released on the java.sun.com site.
For example, the release date of JDK 1.5.0_13 (based on it's 'pkginfo -l' information or by the dates of installed files) was released on September 25, 2007. Patches 118666-14, 118-667-14, 118668-14, and 118669-14 (which was the SECOND patch release of JDK 1.5.0_13) were updated on October 2, 2007 .... roughly a week later.
JDK 1.5.0_14 was released 3 days after that on October 5, 2007 .... and yet STILL has not appeared as a set of patches. I believe that this lengthy delay between when the full package was avaialbe and when a patch was available is unique to 118666-15 through 118669-15 and does not match the timing pattern for the -1 through -14 patches of JDK 1.5.0.
Can I manually uninstall the JDK 1.5.0_13 packages and then download and manually install the JDK 1.5.0_14? Yes .... but it's more of a hassle just as uninstalling and reinstalling ANY package is more of a hassle than simply patching it.
So, I appreciate your diligence and efforts in supporting the UpdateManger community and did not mean to sound as if I was blaming updatemanager for patches being unavailable. However, I don't know where else to ask "Why isn't X yet avialable as a patch?" ... and, it seems to me, that 118666-15 through 118669-15 have clearly gotten lost in the pipeline compared to all of the previous releases of patches to JDK 1.5.0.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Solaris OS patches baseline for JDK 1.4.2

    Hi,
I find that the installation instruction for JDK 1.4.2 only direct me to latest recommended patches web page. Since we cannot install latest patches everytime we install JDK due to company policy, we need to have a baseline to ensure our application can run.
Do anyone know the baseline of OS patches for install and running JDK 1.4.2 and can share with me?Thanks a lot.

Yes, 1.4.2 and 5.0 will also contain this information in a later update release.
    Currently 1.4.2_11 has tzdata2005n
    and 5.0u6 contains tzdata2005m.
Both these updates contain rules for the Australian daylight savings changes(2006)

now shows patch support for six items but the NT operating

this bug in the mean time for testing in NT OS.
    The JDBC error thrown is
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ttcgcshnd-1],[0]...

You must include "classes12.zip" instead of "classes111.zip".
Since "classes111.zip" is required only for Java 1
and "classes12.zip" is required for Java 2 which means from J2SE 1.2 on forward.
In adition you might need to inlcude "nls_charset12.zip" as well. Try it first without and if it is not working include it as well.
The required files can you get from the OTN.
    This should help

  • Java print caused JVM crash on Vista platform with JDK 1.5.0_14

    Platform: JDK 1.5.0_14 + Vista
The issue didn't exit in windows XP or 2003. It's only Vista specific.
I found the bugs (6358747/6574633 and 6395356) in SUN’s official site. SUN developer only fixed the bug 6358747/6574633 for XP (fixed in JDK 1.5.0_11 and 1.6) and marked the bug 6395356 for Vista as duplicate, that is, the bug for Vista was not fixed at that time. In the meanwhile I ran the code posted in the bug report (6358747/6574633) with JDK 1.5.0_14 on vista. The issue still occurred. That means, 6395356 was not actually a duplicate of 6358747/6574633.
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6358747 or http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6574633 - For XP
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6395356 - For Vista
Currently I knew the bug for vista has been fixed in higher JDK version (1.5.0_18 or above). But our application is based on 1.5.0_14 and we didn't solve the issue by upgrading the JDK version because some other reasons. So I would like to know if there is a workaround?
In addition, the bug for XP has a workaround posted in the bug report link. But I didn't find the similar settings for Vista. Anyone could help me?

The only solution for a bug is to install a version in which it is fixed. In this case I would highly recommend making the effort to upgrade to Java 6, as Java 5 is end of life already and with good reason: its ancient technology. What are you going to do otherwise? Keep using Java 5 until you phase out your software? The problems are only going to grow as time passes and will ultimately cost you a lot more money than it will do right now to make the upgrade efforts.

  • Apply patch for 10g

    Hi, Good morning:
I am trying to apply patch for my newly installed Oracle10.2.0.1, I downloaded the Opatch utility and extracted it directly into oracle_home, and then I downloaded the latest patch 5500927 and extracted into oracle_home/opatch....
Now, if I do ' opatch inventory ' under oracle_home/optach, it will give
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch>opatch lsinventory
The system cannot find the file specified.
Java could not be located. OPatch cannot proceed!
OPatch failed with error code = 1
If I do 'opatch lsinventory ' under oracle_home/opatch/5500927 it will give :
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch>cd 5500927
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch\5500927>opatch lsinventory
'opatch' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
I know I have JVM in my machine, and the JDK is version 1.4...
Can anyone help me ? what did I do wrong?
    Thanks a lot.
    Wendy

what a sec..the home does not look right, did you change it on installation?
    set oracle_home=d:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1
    set oracle_sid=your_sid
    opatch lsinventory
if that doesn't work, look at your PATH, see what is going on there
you might want to put the "opatch" sub-dir into your path..or create a couple of CMD files to set it all the time.

  • TZupdater for the Java Runtime Environment for jdk/jre 1.6

    B"H
    Hi,
I need the TZupdater for the Java Runtime Environment for 1.6, unfortunately the only one that I can find on the Oracle/Java site is :
Java Time Zone Updater Tool 1.3.57
The TZUpdater tool is to enable an Oracle JDK 7 or JRE 7 user to patch their installation with the most recent timezone data
Can someone please point me to the relevant link for JDK 6 or JRE 6
    Thank you in advance
    Yechezkel

    Hello Yechezkel,
You download any version from this link
Timezone Data Versions in the JRE Software
This gives the JRE Update Release release and the corresponding TZUpdater Version

  • AAC/MPEG-4 support patch for abcde

I got bored to day and made up this patch for abcde that adds support for AAC using the M4A extension.
It uses FAAC as the encoder and also patches abcde to version 2.2.3
I have not tested it yet so bear with me...i'll post my test results later.
You'll have to manually add the "M4AENCOPTS=" variable to the config
    usage is: abcde -o m4a
UPDATED: fixed a plethora of typos
another side note is the fact FAAC must be compiled with mpeg-4 support, the Archlinux package for FAAC isn't, so therefore this could be a problem unless you compile FAAC yourself. I submitted a feature request to get mp4 support added.
the following is the 2.2.0 to 2.2.3 update+AAC patch. I will submit a AAC patch for the newest release to the developers of abcde later on.

  • Patch for modbin6-1.00.38.exe is out.. "2MBIOS.BIN can't open!" Solved.

    Hi mates,
ive decide to make a patch for modbin6 1.00.38 to improve stability and minise risk of modding the BIOS. for users which is reading this post if never heard about MODBIN better avoid reading below. its nice program for basic BIOS mod, simple to use, but very danger in the same time couse mess with BIOS and inproperty using may couse disaster. im not gona advert or to invite persons to use it. just wana make this program to be used normally to bring stability and minise risk of making corrupted BIOSes.. for persons which is already using it and have experience with him or with person Enthu which is wana try it and they dont worry if mobo may caouse for trash. there is 2 reasons to making this patch.
       1. couse sometimes im using it there is features on it wchich gives basic stuffs, unlocking hidden features locked by manifacturer(sometimes really usefull especially for DIMM Vcore..). so there is a nasty bug on it which gona explain later. most of persons who is using MODBIN know about it. so that patch will spend me alot of time and minimise risk of mistake during avoiding bug couse operation need several procedure and automatised will risk free and much fastern.
       2. to bring ability for most stable operations to persons which is already using it when need.
but lets talk about the patch. everyone know that nasty issue with MODBIN(made it by Borg N1,part from his collection). bug is program wont safe BIOS file  and quiting with Abnormal program termination.... gives this one message: !!!File
    2MBIOS.BIN can't open!Thanks for using ModBin6 1.00.38  how nice ...
    here is Borg N1 advices:
Quote from: Borg Number One on 16-July-05, 05:24:51
    Hi.
It is a kind of sad fact that many users just know how to use the mouse and keyboard.
Well, you have to configure your config.sys (Win9x/ME) or config.nt to run MODBIN6
    (e.g. MODBIN6 2.01.01 (06/25))
    in Windows prompt/console without problems.
The " FILES " & " BUFFERS " values are the important values.

    +++ BNOBTC & BNOBLG +++
    http://bnobtc.pix-art.com
Borg advices is good but unfortuanly doesnt fix that bug... seems author dont have much idea why this is happend...error is constant ... Pure DOS also can't help... i wana add few more tips to the Borg's ones to improve stability when using  modbin, after that will talking about patch.
TIP: navigate to this folder and open config.nt file:  %SystemRoot%\system32\config.nt
at the end of file add this ones:
    dos=high, umb
    device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys /CPUCLOCK:ON /HMAMIN=64
    FILES=40
    BUFFERS=40
    STACKS=9,256            -----> Preserving 039A-045Eh   3,152   Sys  039Ah Stacks, 0552h DOSX
Also MODBIN doesnt work well with long filenames.... etc "document and settings\my profile\desktp\modblabla" if not gona work property and there is a big chance of failure will load but after saving will have problems to update BIOS "core"(original.tmp) so always use 8.3 syntax standart .... best way from root directory make subdir whcih name to no NOT exceed 8 symbols... etc C:\123,C:\MYFLASH,C:\ROFL
without TIPs it is really big gamble with BIOS....
Aslo that will prevent Stack Overflow error when BIOS is loading....
NOTE: To activate changes just quit from any DOS interpretators like(4nt,command.com,cmd and so on). and re-run it. Reboot OS is not requred.
    here how to do:
Also when executing MODBIN put below executable file this ones without quotes "loadfix forcedos modbin6-1.00.38.exe"
and ofcourse nasty error is waiting us... "2MBIOS.BIN can't open! Thanks for using ModBin6 1.00.38"
Patch which iv maked gona RIP this error forever.
    Download: modbin6_1.00.38
    Download: MODBINPATCH
What patch need? and how to use it? I named patch "Dynamic Patch for modbin" Couse isnt make modification on MODBIN program but momory his parent process when is loaded into memory.
tips suggested below is recommended but not nesecery for the patch.. patch need MODBIN and your BIOS file (modbin6-1.00.38.exe and mybios.bin) to be copied to systemroot drive(usually C) in folder MSI etc put modbin6-1.00.38.exe and mybios.bin(BIOS which you gona mod) to C:\MSI
Patch make checking if folder doesnt match will not continue....
How to use it..... Copy modbin6-1.00.38.exe and mybios.bin to C:\MSI, then from command prompt navigate to C:\MSI and execute "loadfix forcedos modbin6-1.00.38.exe" after that load your BIOS file... when loading is complete navigate to your patch folder and execute patchMSI.exe.... takes 10 seconds to complete after that make active "white" window and enter "Q" then hit ENTER key both windows will be closed, after that return to your modbin window, make what you gona make and save BIOS file like normal procedure... Method is founded and tested by me from years below never let me down(never brings corrupted BIOS), but just today ive made patch couse was too lazy... also Borg's MODBIN can work with most of all chipsets which is using AWARD Modular based... NOTE: K9 isnt tested. the most of here you can view how exacly to do it and differents with and without patch:
here is one more think some time maybe usefull from me:D
Here is 1st little short trick:(no analog anywhere, like patch only here can be found if accepted):
How to reset BIOS if you have nothink? Examples if you are administrator/PC-support or any and must fix same PC but the BIOS has an password?! And you dont have permision to open Case to reset CMOS(couse PC has an sticker with Warantly (and removing that sticker couse lost pc warrantly) You need access to BIOS to re-check,configure somethink there but its password protected. anyway there could be many situation. what we need? nothink special just bootable DOS(or analog- PC-DOS or whatever, doesnt matter where will boot(cd,flash disk, hdd)), no extended commands.[io.sys(jo.sys),command.com] - files requred to boot Here we go:
boot from desired device.when you see command prompt etc.: "A:\,C:\"
We will write a program without any languich..directly in PC code..(without compilator), direct in machine code.
    write this:
    copy con ffs.com|ffs          *comment None
176.230p144144230q195     *comment Hold "ALT" and write number
^Z                                  *comment "CTRL+Z" then hit "Enter"
    Explain:
    copy(internal command)
    con (command line switch)
    ^Z (CTRL+Z)
NOTE: Numbers in second line must be written with holdon "ALT" key and specified numbers.(ASCI Code). Non numbers symbols is normal keyboard selection. on input display should look like:
    copy con ffs.com|ffs
    ░.цpРРцq├
    ^Z
Program is 9 bytes long... (simple but high effective)
Thats it.Reboot Computer... password is gone. CMOS is reseted to default values. Tested on Award 4.0,6.0, AMI BIOS. Break all..
    and finaly again:
**To All readers of this thread: Please note that this thread is with regards to Self-Modding BIOS and are of NO Official Testings from MSI. MSI will not be responsible for ANY Damage caused from requesting these self modded BIOSes! Please mind that you'll ONLY request and flash AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!** also MODBIN Author(Borg N1) and me is dont are NOT  responsible for ANY Damage caused by MODBIN or Add On Patch. (i didnt think there is risk exit must must said that warning....couse playing with BIOS is always risky). Happy Tweaking.

Well, I was wondering if the system not allowing the tty to change ownership -- but root also has the problem.
You might try checking which shell is set for your users in /etc/passwd, and then check that the shell really exists at the specified path, and that it is executable.  You might also check that the home directory for you users (also specified in /etc/passwd) is mounted and your user has the appropriate rights to that directory.
Other than that, I am running out of altitude, airspeed and ideas all at the same time.  There was one thing in your trace I did not understand.  Why is your system looking to the floppy drive?  I wonder if that is contributing to the problem.

GoDaddy ran a security patch for Poodle and now Dreamweaver can't connect. FTP over SSL/TLS explicit encryption is used. Is there a patch from Adobe for Dreamweaver?

The perpetual license of CS6 is essentially Adobe's response to those folks who absolutely refuse to switch to the Creative Cloud Subscription plans. It's actually 3 versions (4 if you count Cloud CS6) removed from "current". Even though it's still available for purchase, it hasn't been receiving any updates and is getting further and further behind DWCC as time goes by.
