Patches in screen after cleaning

How do I clean whitish patches I found after clweaning with windex like solution.Unfortunately I sprayed the solution on to the dv 7 laptop screen which I was not supposed to.
The patches have become smaller  than the patches originally since it happened a week ago but it is still there,
The comp is a week past the warranty period and further i am travelling outside US just now and Hp everywhere would not touch it
WWhat are my options>is it worthwhile takimg it to another repairer.Or do I just keep quiet hoping it will just go away in time?
This question was solved.

  • Blue Screen after clean reinstall snow leopard

I have a mid 2011 that came with Snow Leopard and disks.  I upgraded from there to Lion - then whatever came next and to Mavericks and finally Yosemite, which was a nightmare for me. I did not use disks of any of the rest.  So I just decided to take my disks and go back to Snow Leopard.  I did this and it asked to go to disk utility and repair both the HD and Permissions.  It came out ok, but there was an instance where looking at the list in HD repair, I saw Suid File System Library Core was moved and cannot be repaired. I went ahead and erased the Hard Drive. Then closed out and installed Snow Leopard. I'm not sure I did it right because I had to rename the new start up disk and typed in unnamed 1.
after that I was able to start up to Snow Leopard. It worked fine until I tried to download all the updates. Then it didn't seem to restart, but just went to the sign in screen.  So I had to keep shutting down and turning it back on. No updates. One of times I started up, I got the blue screen after the apple and gray screen.
Also on start up the apple comes up without the chime. Last night I got some instructions from a similar situation and tried to use my disk to a clean reinstall all over.  It didn't work, still the blue screen. (it does fine in safemode.)
I need help to get this mac running.  If someone can help me......

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Stains on my T410's screen after cleaning

    Hi everyone!
I have ugly problem with my LCD screen. After cleaning with OKULAN liquid (0% alcohol) made special for cleaning electronics, it left stains almost on whole screen like that  :

Does anyone had a similar problem? I can't clean these stains with moisten cloth. I'm afraid of using another chemical liqiud... PLEASE HELP
    T420s type 4171-7FU

Can't find anything that seems relevant on google.de with the query OKULAN Hamburg Germany. There's also no English wikipedia equivalent of amphotere tenside (German article only).
EDIT: Apparently, "amphotere tenside" means "amphoteric surfactants", which sounds like a class of chemicals rather than a specific one.

  • Beach Ball of Death, Dark Gray Screen after Clean OS ReInstall- Please Help

My 13" MBP is less than two months old.
I read online somewhere that a company that buys large quantities of Macs has a strategy for combating the industry standard 5% hard drive failure in new notebooks. It said something along the lines of performing a clean install / reformat of OS X was a good idea to see if any problems arise- then the HD would likely have problems in the near future, etc...
Being the nerd that I am I performed a clean install on my MBP. I had just performed one the day before on my other Mac (which worked perfectly).
First of all, my MBP took roughly 15 minutes to boot from the disk (to begin the reinstall). Actually one time I gave it over 20 minutes and it never did load. Once I finally got to the Language select screen it froze, clicking the continue arrow did nothing and I couldn't even choose another language. So I shut down and tried again. The DVD doesn't look scratched. Is my drive less than stellar?
This time, it worked, albeit, it took much longer to install than my lesser powered Mac Mini. OS X notified me that the installation was successful and that it now simply needed to restart. Upon restart I was greeted with a dark gray screen and mouse cursor spinning beach ball (that responded to trackpad).
Shut down, turned it back on- same thing. Tried a bunch more times, no luck.
Called Apple Care and after a few questions / tips we concluded that it needed to be sent in, the associate imagined it was a HD problem.
I took my MBP to a local authorized service provider and they took it, and called me back in a few hours. I asked what they did to fix it, and they skillfully dodged the question. They said it should be good now, that it passed all hardware tests, but to let them know if it happened again.
Since then it's been running okay. As a nerd it's a bit bothersome to know that I can't perform a clean install when I see fit- and that if I did, I'd have to take it into Apple Care again in the future, and once Apple Care runs out than a clean install just isn't an option.
It boots up just as fast, but when it gets passed the white screen with the Apple logo... when the desktop is loading I noticed that it stays at the flash of the solid blue desktop a bit longer than usual (the second before it loads your desktop bg image). It also seems that fully loading all of the top right menu bar items takes a bit longer than before.
Also, not sure if the hard drive's sudden motion sensor is going haywire. But randomly, the hard drive will make a singular faint "thud / click" noise. Very faint. But it's not your usual "reading data from the HD" hard drive thrashing noise you hear when you open an app / file. It's a single, more sudden noise, but like I said it is fairly quiet- I hear it when I have literally nothing running except this Safari window. This is something I didn't notice the first few weeks with the MBP.
Also in system profiler, the battery's condition was never good, but only "Normal." I did calibrate my battery one of the first days I had it.
    Here's some coconutBattery info:
    Current Battery Capacity: 5588 mAh
    Original Battery Capacity: 5770 mAh
    Which is 96%.
    Load cycles: 10
Anyways, curious if anyone has any ideas about my inability to perform a clean install and successfully boot up? I don't see any reason why it should have taken THAT long to boot from the disk, frozen in several random spots throughout, and then not be able to boot up.
The HD noises aren't a huge deal just a bit concerning, and admittedly the battery info is just nerdy paranoia. Just curious what's going on with my MBP. Is there anything I can do, or should read?

    Hi simplecoder13,
I perform a similar process on all the HDs that I buy, only I take it a step further. I'll run a single pass erase on drives under 500GB and a seven pass erase on drives larger than 500GB and ones that are deemed "mission critical." Here's an interest metric, though.
Since 01/01/10 on laptop drives (Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi)
    +HDs purchases - 461+
    +Drives > 500GB - 119+
    +Drives < 500GB - 342+
    +Drives that fail zero test - 13+
+Drives that pass zero test, fail within 30 days - 2+
+Drives that pass zero test, fail within 60 days - 0+
+Drives that pass zero test, fail within 90 days - 3+
+Drives that pass zero test, fail within 180 days - 4+
    +Total drive failures within 6 months - 22 (4.77%) ~ 5%+
I don't have a manufacturer break down, I suppose I should start logging that more closely. Anyway...
I have a new MacBook Pro (13" @ 2.4GHz) and booting off the installation disc, from selecting the installer disc via the boot manager to the language selection screen is ~ 6 mins and 44 seconds. I use that as an average, I did it over 10 restarts but it was a pretty fair assessment. The fact that the installer is freezing is definitely cause for alarm, that's not normal or to be expected. Process of elimination would tell me the following:
    1.) The disc is bad
2.) The optical drive is bad
My understanding of the installer is the HD isn't initially accessed during the installer until you choose an install location (at which point it's mount point is verified).
Regarding the battery, your full charge capacity is going to bounce around the first couple of months, usually anywhere from 250-400 mAh. I noticed sporadic reporting until I reached the 50 cycle mark (or around 6 months based on usage). That being said, I don't see any problems or cause for alarm with the information you've reported.

  • Black screen after clean Win 8.1 install

I did a clean install from 10.9 Bootcamp utility and Win 8.1 Home full ISO.
Installation is successful but after first reboot I got display drivers issue (black screen and system running on).
I tried both ways and got the same issue:
    -     with Bootcamp drivers
    -     without Bootcamp drivers install
Thanks to help me to do not let me switch....
    Matt

    Hi
Only an Toshiba Blu-ray Player update from Win 8 to Win 8.1 can be downloaded.
The full version is not available for download.
This means that if you want to use the Toshiba Blu-ray Player, you have to go back to notebooks factory settings (including the Win 8 system). Then you should perform an update to Win 8.1. After that you could download the Toshiba Blu-ray Player- update (Win 8.1) package from Toshiba EU driver page.
If you dont want to perform this procedure, you could try an freeware software like VLC player.

  • White patches appearing on the screen after some time

I have bought an iMac recently. And for some days white patches like something occurring on my screen after sometime when I opens it. And the patches are there after closing it till sometime. So what can i do now? PLEASE help me .

That sounds like condensation forming between the display and front glass panel.
If you live in an area with high humidity, then might help to run a fan or dehumidifier to help reduce the moisture in the air.
It also might help to leave the iMac on and running for a day or so to compleatly dry out the trapped moisture.
If those steps do not help, then you may want to take the iMac to your local Apple Store or AASP and have them clean between the display and front glass panel.

  • Black Screen After Windows 8 64-bit Upgrade (Clean Install) on TouchSmart IQ508A (IQ500 series)

    Hi there,
Just installed Windows 8 and am getting a black screen after booting up like many others. I currently have disabled the graphics driver and this has solved the black screen issue but I can no longer use my web cam for Skype (although web cam works for W8 Camera App oddly).
To date I have tried the following:
Loading up the latest Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website
Attempting to use the drivers for Windows 7 both in compatability mode and normally. I unzipped SP44488 to get this working
I know many others are having this problem so I really would  like someone from HP to respond and state whether a Windows 8 display driver for the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS is being developed.
I ran the compatability wizard prior to the clean install and it came up with no issues so I am very disappointed I am having these problems.
I've found out that HP have a customised version of the above card so that explains why the Nvidia drivers dont work so I believe HP is therefore obligated to provide a driver.
If anyone else is having similar issues please respond as this will hopefully lead to more action.
    cheers
    Steve

I'm in the same boat. On my IQ804, the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS card crashes when I use NVidia's latest Windows 8 driver and Microsoft's LIVE UPDATE drivers.  I have to resort to the Standard VGA driver in order for the pc not to crash into a black screen.
I read on another forum you can try installing a July 2012 version of the driver from NVidia and that should solve the problem.  I tried it once. Using the July 2012 version, the screen would stay on longer, but eventually it crashes into a black screen...but definitely more usable than the latest from NVidia and Microsoft.
I too have heard that HP used a customized version of the graphics card and that's why neither HP nor NVidia's drivers work.
I also tried installing the Nvidia GE Force 9300M GS drivers for Windows 7 that I downloaded from the HP website.  It didn't work either.  It actually failed to install altogether, saying my system is incompatible.
As is, the pc works fine.  But videos and games that require motion is noticably choppy.
    Any help from HP??

  • Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
    I have tried these:
    1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
    2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
    Thoughts and suggestions?

  • Blank screen after poweroff

First of all, sorry for my language. I'm french (I've posted my problem on the french forum here but it hasn't been solved yet.
    THE PROBLEM :
When I shutdown my desktop computer using any command ('shutdown -h now' 'halt' of using the syslinux poweroff, and even when I try to suspend with 'pm-suspend'), I have a blank screen when I try to turn the PC on. And then the screen says "no signal". Even the BIOS doesn't appear.
I have to use the RESET button of my tower to see the BIOS appear
First I didn't have the problem with the command 'reboot', but it's the same now (since I changed my CMOS battery).
And since that I have also to RESET several times to get the BIOS.
    MY CONFIG :
    - kernel : 3.14.2-1-ARCH
    - openbox + slim
    - bootloader syslinux
    - graphic card : NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS + current Nvidia driver (my card is not recognized by 'nouveau')
    - motherboard : ASUSTeK P5PL2-E
    - BIOS version : 0904 (up to date stable version)
    - CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz
    - Screen : ACER G246HL (DVI connected)
WHAT I'VE TRIED SO FAR :
    - unplug the computer, wait, plug it.
    - reinstall the packages : nvidia nvidia-utils nvidia-libgl xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils
    - boot on the arch's liveUSB and shutdown from there >> same problem
    - boot with the kernel options 'noacpi noapic nolapic'
    - desactivate the QuickBoot option on the BIOS (it seemed to work but finally not)
    - use the LTS kernel
    - open the computer and clean everything inside, check that everything is OK, even change the CMOS battery
    - run memetest86+ >> no error
    - check the CPU temperature
    WHAT I FOUND (quite similar):

  • [Solved] White screen after KDE 4.11.1 upgrade

    Hi!
I updated the system going from KDE 4.11.0 to KDE 4.11.1. On reboot I got the correct loading of KDM, but upon arrival on the desktop the latter is presented fully white with big red button with an "X" in them. Thinking it was the configuration of kde, I deleted .kde4 with the effect that the next time I always white screen (that is only the red buttons have disappeared).
I try to remove completely kde with:
    pacman -Rsnc kde
and seeing that reinstalling I get the same result, I also tried to clean up the cache pacman packages listed by the command:
    ls kde*4.11.1*
so I redownload and reinstalled with:
    pacman -Syu kde
without solution. I also tried to do what is recommended in the wiki, that is in addition to eliminating .kde4, I run:
    $ rm ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
    $ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
    without solution.
Thinking then it might be the partition / almost full, I checked with:
    df
but the partition is not filled even for half of the 30gb that is available.
I checked some logs and these are the outputs:

Thanks Thaodan! I deleted /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER and I solve the problem! I also restore .kde4_backup and at the moment have no issue.
Small question: I noticed that there are also kdecache-kdm and kdecache-root. I should remove it or doesn't matter?
    Thanks for the help!
THANKS, my White Screen was caused by a combination of issues but this solution worked for me.
    My Problem -
I am not sure exactly what caused my white screen, I was playing around with /etc/profile & /etc/sudoers
    What I changed -
sudoers - I added my user group to sudoers and allowed sudo to execute applications using xauth in home dir
profile - changed umask to 133 ( I hate execute bit ) and default text editor to nano
    What Happened -
Tried to reload via source but no changes where taking effect so I rebooted.
Upon reboot I could not login to KDE, it would keep looping back to the KDM after I entered by password for my user, however it would let me login as root ( after I enabled root login ).
I figured this was a permission issue so I changed umask back to 022 in /etc/profile, I was then greeted with the White Screen after login.  I read numerous posts about how to fix this, most said to reinstall kde and delete /tmp, none of this worked.
I deleted /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER and now I am back in business ( I had to re set the widgets, i.e. panel ).
I was so excited that I had to write a post about it!
    Thanks again!

  • Images burn into the screen after being there for only a few minutes?

What's wrong with my mac if images burn into the screen after being there for only a few minutes?
I can have an icon, like a folder or something, on my desktop for only a few minutes and then when I move it an image of it will be burned into the screen for another few minutes. Same thing happens with having a webpage open for a few minutes or word document. What part of my computer is malfunctioning and is Apple responsible for repairing it?

    Hi,
Does it happen on all desktops applications as well as Modern UI Apps? Since this issue only happened recently, I suspect a newly-installed third party program causes this issue, please check these programs if possible.
We can also boot into clean boot mode, test the issue.

  • Back to selection screen after error

    Hello ABAPers,
I have a executable program (REPORT) to do some processing (e.g. read a standard table with the parameters and select-options and save the data in a Z table).
When occurs an error (e.g. when sy-subrc <> 0 after select) and a message of type E is showed, the program show the message in a "clean" screen with title SAP. Then, after ENTER or ESC, it leaves to initial screen of SAP (SAP Easy Access).
The message of type E is triggered from a routine (FORM) called from START-OF-SELECTION event. And the program don´t write nothing in list (only return a status message if everithing is ok).
How can I force the program to back to selection screen after some error?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Charles Oliveira

    hi,
Do the following for your requirement.
in the message give the following
    start-of-selection.
    Perform <routine>.
    Form <routine>.
    if <condition>.
message 'xxxx' type 'S' display like 'E'.
      exit.
    endif.
    endform.
This way the control returns to selection screen even after the message is triggered.
    Thanks
    Sharath
