Patches needed to upgrade to 2005Q1

Folks,
The documentations says that to patch upgrade ds(x86) to 2205q1, I need the following:
115611-18
115615-20
These are not on sunsolve. Does anyone know when these will be available?

Good question! I'm at the same point... noone knows that... Don't know why they put this on documentation without releasing patches...
Don't know why it's taking too long to release it although 2005Q1 has been released for one month now....
:(

PowerPC is the processor that Apple used prior to switching to Intel. It is a very old version of Apple for which support has been dropped.
It is not Windows which is what BootCamp will allow you to install.

  • Need to Upgrade to RHEL 5.5 on 10.2.0.4.0 DB RAC Servers

    Hello,
We need to upgrade the RHEL 4.x OS to RHEL 5.5 on all of our 2-node 10.2.0.4.0 RAC DB servers. I realize that RHEL doesn't support upgrades from MAJOR versions like this in terms that only DB re-linking activities need to be done. As a result, we cannot retain our previous system settings or services. So, we will have simply re-install our CRS and RAC DB binaries (after we back up the pre-existing DB files). Here are my 3 questions which are largely for clarification:
1.) Does this forum agree with this assessment?
2.) Is it possible to do this as a rolling upgrade such that exisitng users can use the 1st node while we rebuild the 2nd node - and then switch them over to the 2nd node and we rebuild the remaining 1st node?'
3.) Does any one have a link or document ID that they might point me to to aid in doing this? Otherwise, I will do what seems the most obvious, back the OS and DB files (mayeb do an RMAN backup as well), let the Sys Admins blow the existing OS away (node by node - see prev question for rolling upgrade question), re-install CRS and RAC and then move the data files in question back to start up the DB.
    Thank you.
    Matt

The term rolling upgrade refers to upgrading different databases or different instances of the same database in a RAC environment, one at a time, without stopping the database. Oracle supports the rolling upgrade of Oracle RAC (not OS like I wrote previously) in a cluster when both versions of the operating system are certified with the version of the Oracle Database you are running. Rolling patch upgrades are not available if the Oracle Database software is shared across the different nodes. This is the case where the Oracle home is on Cluster File System (CFS) or on shared NFS volumes. The feature is only available where each node has its own copy of the Oracle Database software.
I doubt that Redhat or Oracle Linux will support in-place upgrades from version 4 to 5. Your only option really available might be to split the RAC cluster and completely setup each node from scratch, than rebuild the cluster. There could be of few changes between EL 4 and 5 that may affect your ability to run a mixed cluster, i.e. raw device support. Sorry, I'm afraid I cannot give you any other practical advise. Perhaps you might want to check the RAC forum at RAC, ASM & Clusterware Installation
To answer you question about the difference with Oracle Linux. The same versions of Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise are binary compatible. For Oracle Linux 5.5, x86_64, you have an option to install the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK), which contains a newer and Oracle optimized version of the kernel, currently 2.6.32. Oracle Linux provides a free public yum repository for software management and other Oracle specific packages. For access to patches you need a subscription to the Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN).

  • Need to upgrade Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.3

    Dear All,
I am having bit doubts on choosing the Application server down load file from the Oracle site. Currently we are using Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Report service. I need to up grade the Forms and Report service to 10.1.3 version of the Application Server 10g .
If I select the Application Server 10g Release 3 from the site its directing me to the big selection list. Actually i bit confused which one i need to choose. I need to upgrade only the Forms and Report service Application Server 10g .Iam sure somebody can help me to solve this confusion. I appreciated ans thanks your attention in my query.
    regards
    Mathew

    Hi Mathew,
If I am not mistaken, there is no Forms and Reports version 10.1.3. There is an Application Server version 10.1.3.x but this is a J2EE only release. Forms and Reports have not been bundled in this version.
Could it be that you are mistaken with version 10.1.2.3 which is a patch set on top of Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 ? If this is the case, you can apply the patch set as per directions in the readme from the patch set. The patch set is available from [My Oracle Support|http://updates.oracle.com/download/5983622.html].
    Thanks,

  • Need to upgrade oracle 8 to 10g

    Hi,
I want to upgrade my database from version 8 to version 10g.
    My question is:
    1) Can i upgrade from oracle 8 to 10g directly? OR need to upgrade to 9i before upgrading to 10g.
    2) Is DBUA the right tool for the upgradation?
    Hoping for a healthy response,
    Thank You and Best Regards

    Please read
Oracle Database Upgrade Path Reference List [ID 730365.1]
    1. Yes you can directly upgrade...
    2. DBUA is good but i would recommend you to go for manual upgrade because you will have more understanding what is happening :)
    Upgrade Path
    8.1.7.X.X TO 10.2.0.4.0
    1. Install 10.2.0.1.0 software
    2. Install the 10.2.0.4.0 patchset on top of the existing 10.2.0.1.0 ORACLE_HOME
    Patchset number is : 6810189
    Patch 6810189
The minimum version required to upgrade to 10.2.X.X.X is 8.1.7.4
Note 551141.1 : Database Server Upgrade/Downgrade Compatibility Matrix
If your oracle database is of a lower version than 8.1.7.4.0 , then Upgrade the database to 8.1.7.4.0 first.
    3. Upgrade the database to 10.2.0.4.0

  • Need for Upgrade as Opposed to New Installation

What is the need to upgrade from 9i to 10g or 10g to 11g or 9i to 11g? If your database is relatively small, can an Oracle Export, uninstall database and install upgraded version desired be performed in place of an upgrade? What are the issues involved? Is deprecated functionality the only issue?

    Hi SacCityLocal,
export/import works fine for smaller database as long as you have enough downtime. But please make sure to run the full database export as user SYSTEM (not SYS). The disadvantage of exp/imp is the time it'll take, additional storage for the dump file, you'll have to build up an empty database ideally with the correct locations for tablespaces/datafiles etc. - this all takes time and involves a lot of manial steps.
So I'd always prefer upgrading with the DBUA. This will do everything for you, customize your init.ora etc. And it should take less downtime and is less error-prone than export/import - so it's much easier.
You can go directly with the DBUA from 9i to 10gR2 or 11g - just as you want. There are no steps in between necessary. For exp/imp the same applies.
Please make sure to install the latest patch set to your new Oracle home before you start the upgrade with DBUA or exp/imp.
    Kind regards
    Mike

  • Inactive  products in EBS need to upgrade ?

I'm in midst of applying a patch to fix one bug in EBS . I've all pre-reqs available for that patch except listed below .
The patch pre-req is BNE.D (WEB ADI ) and FRM.H (oracle report manager) but these products are Inactive and we don't use it.
Do I still need top upgrade or I can skip ?
    *FRM      Inactive       11.5.0   11i.FRM.F

If those modules are not used, then you can skip them.
Please note that WebADI and Reports Manager in R12 replace Client ADI (which is no longer used), so if you have any plans to upgrade to R12 you need to activate those modules from OAM (License Manager) before you start the upgrade.

  • Why need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 before PL46?

    Dear Experts,
I'm just curious, why need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 before PL46. Is there any affect if we skip PL42, example from 2005A SP01 PL41 direct upgrade to 2007A PL46?
And if we need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 first, is it we need to upgrade the DB COMMON only, or the entire company database, example if got 10 company DB, is it we need to upgrade for 10 company DB to 2007A PL42 first before repeat the same process and upgrade 2007A PL46?
    Any help appreciate.

    Hi,
This note I got from SAP 2007A PL46 installation folder named "Patchreadme.pdf", and the caution point no. 3 mention this one : "Before running 2007 A patch 46 upgrade, customers who are running versions previous to 2007 A should upgrade to version 2007 A patch 42." That's why i'm curious whether can or not if we upgrade direct from version 2005A to 2007A PL46 , and is there any affectted.
In case have to upgrade 2007A PL42, what I mean is it can we just upgrade SBO-COMMON only to 2007APL42 and then continue upgrade to 2007APL46 again for SBO-COMMON and the entire 10's company db (10's company db did not upgrade to PL42, but direct to PL46 - save time).
Or, we need to upgrade SBO-COMMON & 10's company db to PL42, and then one more time upgrade SBO-COMMON & 10's company db to PL46?
Yes, there are only one sbo-common and 10 company db in sql.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • I have a macbook 4.1 with osx10.6.8 and just added memory (2gig) so I could sync my new Ipome and Ipad.  and Ipad. Now I'm told I need to upgrade my operating system. The apple store gave me conflicting instructions. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a macbook 4.1 with osx10.6.8 and just added memory (2gig) so I could sync my new IPhone and Ipad. Now I'm told at the apple store that I need to upgrade my operationg system. They said they couldn't help and gave me conflicting advice about what to do. Any ideas? Thanks you!

There are three models of MacBook that comprise the 'macbook 4.1' category, and each of them a little different; however other than 'macbook 4.1' the other thing they have in common is they all are considered Early 2008. Two are white, one black, polycarbonate case, Core2Duo 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz white, 2.4GHz black.
So if you can determine which one, if any of these, is the model build year and spec you have, that would be handy. Did you tell whoever you spoke to the serial number of your computer, so they'd know by looking up the specs to see what the supported maximum RAM upgrade capacity was, and other minimum requirements to make any upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 at all?
If you have the serial number you can do a lookup to 'indentify by serial number' online, and use that information to determine if the computer needs even more RAM to take it past the minimum for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then get it ready to upgrade (via paid download from App Store, Snow Leopard gets you that far) and see what the next supported OS X full upgrade would be for the hardware limitations on that old MacBook.
If your MacBook IS a 4.1 build, the highest OS X it could run if it has the 2.4GHz cpu, is Lion 10.7.5. That would be an upgrade from the App store, available to OS X 10.6.8+ computers that access it online. And I kind of doubt how supported a newest iphone etc may be in lion.
everymac.com has a fair amount of information across many years of Apple computing hardware...
Here's the three MacBooks that share the 4.1 designation; first shipped with as much as 1GB RAM upgrade and the other two only a 2GB RAM*, (one white/one black color) according to this information...
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.1 13" (White-08) 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8100)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (White-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Black-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    ...as seen here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/index-macbook.html
*But according to MacTracker (free: download database) http://mactracker.ca
these MacBooks can use more RAM in aftermarket specs as much as:
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
To get more information use a service such as this...
    •identify by serial number:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
The Apple? store or whoever you talked, to may have been as accurate as they could be without further research. Could be you may have a newer or older MacBook, which would change whatever later OS X it could run past 10.6.8. And to go past Snow Leopard, you need to download the last bits for 10.6.x to be able to go and get any later upgrade. The ones that may let a newest iphone or ipad work with it, are past SL10.6.8
Anyway, as you further verify the model build year and configuration specifications, report back.
    Good luck & happy computing!

    Hi Chefjeegar
Yes that screwdriver kit has the #00 phillips screwdriver that you need to access the RAM and hard drive. You'll also need the Torx driver to change the hard drive. http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Computer-Technician-Precision-Torx/dp/B0000934GO/r ef=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1348072554&sr=1-1
For a good explanation about RAM look at the page on OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/
In the UK Amazon or eBay might be your best bet for cheap RAM but read the description and reviews carefully. For a little more expensive but with a better warranty is Crucial UK http://www.crucial.com/uk/
A good resource for working on your MacBook is ifixit.com http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Core_2_Duo
Is your external hard drive formatted for Mac? To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application Carbon Copy Cloner. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.bombich.com/index.html Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Put the new drive in your MacBook, then format and partition the new drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer your OS back to the new drive.
Yes, you can put an SSD in the MacBook.

I had a 640GB HDD in my Early 2008 Macbook and it was just too much it would always freeze up the computer a bit for only a few seconds but ya. Then I realized that it was the size of the HDD that was causing it since the Early 2008 Macbook models can only handle a MAX od 500GB while the Early 2008 Macbook Pros could have a MAX of 640GB (Lucked out there!) lol But ya the Early 2008 Mocbooks can only handle a MAX HDD size of 500GB and that's it!! lol

I noticed that Find My iPhone on iCloud hasn't worked since iOS 8 came out. Whenever I try to use it, it always says "All Devices Offline." This is regardless of whether I am in a good Wi-Fi zone or not.  I like to use Find My iPhone to remotely track my battery charging status whenever my phone is charging in a different room. That's been really handy, which is why I really need to get this fixed. No matter what computer I use, the problem is always the same.
My device uses iOS 7. My question is: do I need to upgrade my device? If not, what should I do? I do not wish to upgrade my device, especially considering the bad things I've heard about iOS 8.
    Feedback would be welcome ASAP.

You don't need to update to iOS 8 to use Find My iPhone.  If you haven't already tried, go to Settings>iCloud>Find My iPhone and turn it off, then reset your phone (hold the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release).  After it restarts, turn Find My iPhone back on and see if it works properly now.
