  • Disable autostart of middle tier whily patching OAS

    Hi,
I have an OAS installation of 10gR2(10.1.2.0.2) with Bussiness Intelligence Middle Tier and ready to install patch 5983622 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0).
The readme says that only the database, listener and infrastructure should be running.
I make sure the middle tier is down, but after a little time elapses, the middle tier services automatically start up. How can I prevent them from starting up until patching is complete?
I'd very much appreciate if someone could please explain.
    Pat

Oracle instances do not automatically go up or down. Either a user or a process starts or stops them.
Just do the following and the server would stay down unless some cron job or another user would bring it up.
    set and export your ORACLE_HOME to midtier;
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl.bat stop iasconsole
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopall
    thanks,
    AMN

    hi,
Are you using forms and reports???
    If yes then go
    $ORACLE_HOME\forms\j2ee\orion-web.xml
    Check for the line
    <context-param-mapping name="configFileName">
    /oraApps/oraclebi/forms/server/formsweb.cfg
    </context-param-mapping>
(/oraApps/oraclebi/ is the value for my ORACLE_HOME.)
Make sure that the configFileName is pointing to a valid file (formsweb.cfg by default) and that the directory path is correct.
    This should solve your problem
    Regards

  • OAS 9.0.4.x upgrade to OAS 10.1.2.x / Portal 10.1.4

We are upgrading OAS 9.0.4.2 with BI & Forms to OAS 10.1.2x / Portal 10.1.4 under Sun Solaris 9 (SPARC 64) and there is some confusion about Note:416942.1: sounds like we need to upgrade to terminal release 9.0.4.3 before migration. There are some notes about applying 10.1.2.2.0 patch set to 10.1.2.0.x installation. It comes from one of my SRs that Oracle is planning patch set 3 for OAS 10g r2 for this summer. Does anybody have a tested sequence of patches for SPARC to go from 9.0.4.2 to OAS 10.1.2x / Portal 10.1.4?
Any comments will be highly appreciated.

  • Upgrade to FIN9.1/Oracle 11.2.0.3EE

    Hi everyone,
I am new to the PSoft forum and actually new to PeopleSoft. My background is mostly Oracle DBA.
We are in the planning of upgrading Financials:

    TO: Fin release 9.1 FP2 with tools release 8.5 + Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE 64bit
I realize Oracle 11.2 has improvement of CBO stats and optimizer behaves a bit differently than 10.2.
I wonder anyone in the forum that had done or is undergoing FIN upgrade 9.1 has any issues or info. about performance issues, tips?
    Many thanks!

  • OAS Patch Application Failure 10.1.2.0.2  to 10.1.2.3.0

    Hello,
i am runnng RHEL 4.5 attempting to apply the 10.1.2.3.0 patch to my working installation of 10.1.2.0.2 standalone forms and reports services
During the installation it comes up with the error
    Error invoking target 'frmweb_install frmcmp_install frmcmpb_install' of makefile /opt/oracle/forms/lib/ins_forms.mk
This leaves the forms conponent broken and giving the 'FRM-92101 - failure on startup - maybe invalid configuration' message.
I checked the installation log in my oraInventory/logs/installActions*DATE*.log as suggested. This shows an error during a make as implied.
Having done some searching around this forum I found that attempting to compile the forms manually often solves this kind of problem.
doing a 'make -f ins_forms.mk frmweb' gets most of the way and fails on
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible type /opt/oracle/libiplsn.a when searching for -liplsn
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible type /opt/oracle/libiplsn.a when searching for -liplsn
    /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -liblsn
    something linked wrong here?
    Thanks for the help

ahh. Yes when I installed frs it complained that I needed to put bash into 32bit mode 'linux32 bash'. The 10.1.2.3 installer never did that.
Please can you advise me how to fix this issue and do a make clean. I'm not the most linux savvy person.
Am i going to have to reinstall OAS completely for 64bit? Is there a way to avoid having to do that?
    Thanks

  • OAS 10.1.3.5 on Windows 64 bit, NO CPU patch for April?

After reading the CPU Advisory for April CPU 2011, it appears that for OAS 10.1.3.5 on Windows 64 bit, that there is NO CPU patch for April? It only shows a patch for Windows 32 bit. They do not mean that the 32 bit patch should also be applied on 64 bit Windows o/s having OAS 10.1.3.5? I just want to make sure I skip this CPU since I have 64 bit o/s.
I ask because the list of bugs fixed in the README for the 32 bit patch list 32 bit bug fixes , and then 64 bit bug fixes.
    Edited by: user12152237 on May 9, 2011 6:17 PM

Somu, please check a topic 3 lines below. No, there's not a separate 64-bit installer, but there's a work-around albeit not supported by oracle.

  • OAS / FORMS 10.1.2.3.0 patch 9593176 : users usually deconnected

    Hello,
On "OAS / FORMS 10.1.2.3.0", I have applied the patch 9593176. We have no more files on $ORACLE_HOME/forms/trace.
But users are still usually deconnected once a day (screen frozen).
webclient operatingsystem is generally Windows XP SP2 or SP3 with Internet Explorer 6 (pour old PC) or 7 (for the last one). Java is 1.6.0_15-b03.
I don't know if there is a link but Jinitiator is also installed (old PC).
OAS is installed on Red Hat 5.4. System is not loaded at all.
Let me know all your ideas
    Regards
    PS
    I don't know if there is a link :
For a user problem was solved after deleted cookies, temporary internet files and "reset text size to medium while zooming" and "reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs" (in "Advanced" tab of Internet options).
On some PC JIniator was previously installed ...

    Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. About IE6 and JRE 1.6.0_xx, it's a first very a good track.
You're right " ...users usually deconnected... " doesn't mean anything. I don't have all users feedback. After some try (and several months), they didn't raise us the last errors. So I'm following some users activity. When a user need to reconnect (new id session, connexion date), I translate like a "deconnexion" but generally users have the screen frozen. They have to closed IE and start a new session.
    1. Thank you. I will suggest this to the team.
For your information, the problem is not always on the same screen ... I have only one dfrmweb_dump trace since the patch 9593176 was applied.
In any case, I recommend the following in this order,
    2. It was done with the last patch through OEM.
    3. It's seems an other track :
    ulimit -a
core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
    scheduling priority (-e) 0
    file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
    pending signals (-i) 268287
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 32
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
    open files (-n) 2048
    pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
    real-time priority (-r) 0
    stack size (kbytes, -s) 10240
    cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
    max user processes (-u) 2047
    virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
    file locks (-x) unlimited
May be an other problem :
    tail /etc/sysctl.conf
    # Controls the maximum number of shared memory segments, in pages
    kernel.shmall = 4294967296
    # Required for OAS 10gR2 (forms+reports)

    Thank you for your help.

  • Problem running JSP program on OAS 4.0.8.1 with JSP patch

    Hi all
I've been running a JSP application on OAS 4.0.8.1 for a month now, but a week ago, when I updated a Java package on the server, the application will no longer run. The simple JSP pages with no bean-tags runs fine, but the ones with bean-tags doesn't work anymore.
    This is the error message:
    Request URI:/jsp/sag/login.jsp

I've read on java.sun.com that verifyerrors normally is due to bad package-files, but I've rebuilt the package at least 10-times now, so thats probably not it. What could it be?
The application runs fine in JDeveloper 3.1
    Thanks on advance,

    Hi,
I am trying to run JSPs on OAS 4.0.8.1.
I have installed JSP patch, downloaded form olab.com
I am not able to execute JSPs. I am getting 2 different problems.
    1. If I call the JSP directly from browser, Netscape will ask for save option, it won't execute.
    2. If I call the JSP from another page with submit button, I am getting the following error :
The requested access method is not allowed for that object.
    Same error for any JSP.
The same problem for all the samples available with JSP patch.
    Hi chrholm,
I already tested for 1 month, so
could you please help me to configure OAS 4.0.8.1 for JSPs.
Could you please send me mail : [email protected]
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • OAS 9i - Versions and How to Patch

    Hi,
I have several questions on patching the OAS 9i Release 2
    1. What's the difference between 9.0.2.0.0 and 9.0.2.0.1
    2. Is 9.0.2.0.1 availabe for download or do I have to order the cd pack.
    3. If I'm ordering the cd pack what's the exact latest version that I've to order.
    4. How can I patch 9.0.2.0.0 version, because all the guides in metalink and other sites are saying to use the 9.0.2.0.1 version which you get from the cds, but I'm having the 9.0.2.0.0 version which was downloaded from the Oracle website.
    - Uditha.

    Hi Uditha,
9.0.2.0.1 is a recut of 9.0.2.0.0 that removes the need for the interoperability patch. If you want to patch your 9.0.2 system you should go to 9.0.2.3. However, all 9.0.2 versions will be desupported in a few months so, depending on what components you are using, you should plan for an upgrade to 9.0.4 or 10.1.2 as soon as possible.

    Mathias

Copy them to your ORANT\BIN\ FOLDER.
Make the backup copy of previous dll from bin for safe bet.
    Try.

    3) Developer 6.0
    4) Application Server 4.0.7.0
    5) Patch of Application Server 4.0.7 (which contain yt40.dll)
It still throws the OWS-20214 OrB not starting
From what I could make out the ORB daemon process is unable to
    start.
I have followed the exact software configurations but it has
    really not helped me.
I am at my wit's end and getting tired totally.
    Please help!!!!

    think
: it's was only for correct bugs on SP4. But when i report the
