Patches of silence in tracks

For some reason there are random seconds of silence in the music playback on my iTouch. The music plays fine on iTunes but when syncd with the iTouch these periods of silence appear. I know there are gaps between the music tracks but this is random silence during the track. I've tried replacing the sync cable and using other headphones, but without any improvement.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

+So you know as much about this problem as I do..?+
Yep, personally that's the case, however, the benefit of these forums is to access the whole communities knowledge of problems and fixes and the idea is to hopefully reach that one person who can help your problem. That doesn't seem to be the case here, though since people don't seem to know a solution for you.
+I've already tried all the usual dummie tests, like restoring, restarting etc.. It is a problem with the iOS4, its not that I'm thick and I'm imagining a problem that doesnt exist.+
I totally believe you are having these problems .. but it seems you have done the things I might have suggested to try and help.
+If you have a 3rd gen iPod Touch, running the iOS4 and are not experiencing any of these problems then I will be very surprised, because my laptop is brand new, with windows 7 and so is the iPod Touch, bought within the last 3 months...+
I cannot see the problem being widespread due to the few responses to this thread .. were it something happening to most people there would be a lot more posts I'd imagine. Therefore I would say that whatever the bug is, it is something more specific to your ipod or itunes set up (I have seen people complaining about the compatibility of win 7 with itunes .. could be it, might not be it).
Is it possible to try sync-ing from another PC/Mac (ie one with another OS), and then at least you could work out if your ipod is damaged? (and try another cable in case it is that that's the problem? .. I notice the OP tried that, but it's something to try for the second poster if he hasn't already)
Otherwise I would say your best bet is to contact apple itself (via the forums contact info, or a genius in a store) and see if they can find out what might be the prob

  • Un silencing a track

How do you un silence a track that was accidentally silenced in the sample editor?

    Hi
Actually, drummer guy, christian was drawing a valid comparison.
Calling out another Logic user *_who is helping you_* as an a** is soundly inappropriate here.
Especially so for a dummy test recording!
Having discovered this hitch to your future workflow you might have broken out the manual. It is clearly described within.
No one here called you out as an a** for not reading basic material in the manual. Instead, you got help.
Christian is a valuable asset to all of us Logic users seeking help here on this forum - as are all of the friendly, helpful, kind, and sometimes funny group here who take the time to help the rest of us.
Sorry for the lecture, I see that you are an infrequent poster here, but these are our peeps here - and they deserve to be treated with a modicum of respect.

  • Newly created tracks (audio or aux) default to names/patches from old deleted tracks?

Hey all. I was an extremely heavy user of Logic 9 and still am of X, and I've worked out more problems than I care to remember in both programs, but this one has me totally stumped.
When I create new tracks, they're using patches from old tracks I've already deleted. There are not saved patches either-- Logic is just remembering the names, effects, and routing of tracks I deleted earlier in my work session and using them instead of clean tracks. Create a new auxillary track? It defaults to Ultrabeat inputs (UB 13-14, let's say) and various effects (Bitcrusher, Chorus, etc) that were used on long-since-deleted Drum Machine tracks. Create a set of new audio tracks? They use the names ("Luke Vox", "Nick Clean Vox") and effects of old, long-deleted audio tracks that I used to have.
This is a project file I got from a friend who is not necessarily as well versed in Logic X so it's entirely possible that something just got ticked or routed weirdly or who knows what. Any ideas?

  • How to use new patch updates in track

    Hi All,
I am a developer working in NWDI. We have everything in place and working fine upto now.
SAP has release a patch for the software component i am using in a track. Basis guys have updated the track and they confirmed the patch is updated successfully.
Now when ever i rebuild my DC, the changes are not effected as per the new patch. Please let me how I will be able to use new patch updates in my DC(In NWDS I can see the old source code only, I did all SYNC's and refresh but didnt worked, even NWDI is restarted)
How I can confirm that the patch is updated to track successfully, from a developer point of view.
I have access to CMS and CBS.

  • How do I remove a patch from a track?

So in Garageband, the latest version (10.0.2), say you have a track.
And to that track I add a patch from the Library window - lets's say the Electric Guitar and Bass -> Clean Guitar -> Amazing Tweed patch.
Now say that I no longer want this patch applied to this track - how do I remove it?  I want it so when I open the Smart Controls window I see the default blue Compressor / EQ / Sends interface, not the one for the Amazing Tweed amp and effects.
I  cannot figure out how to do this and it's driving me insane.

There is not dedicated reset command for a Track.
When you create a "Guitar" Audio Track, it will have the Amp Designer and Pedalboard plugin already loaded. When you create a "Mic" Audio Track, it seems to have that basic Patch settings loaded. That is as close of a default reset you can get and I think that is what you wanted.
    Here is what you do:
Create a new "Mic" Audio Track
Open the Library Window and click "Save" in the lower right corner of that window. This lets you create your own custom Patch
A Dialog Window pops up, where you enter a name for your Patch , i.e. "Default Patch"
Now, select the Track you want to "reset"
In the Library Window a new Category "User Patches" has been created where the "Default Patch" has been saved to. Click on the "Default Patch"
This will load the Patch onto the selected Track
    That's it
You can more information about Patches, User Patches and the Library in my new book: "GarageBand X - How it Works"
You can use the custom Patches not only for this one but in general to store your favorite SOunds you created on your Track. It also stores any AU plugins that you have used on a Track.
    Hope that helps

  • Is there a way to creat a hard break in a song, followed by a measure or so of silence, then bring the music back in within the garageband format?

Is there a way to creat a hard break in a song, followed by a measure or so of silence, then bring the music back in within the garageband format?

I am not quite sure what you want to achieve, but you can
    select all tracks at once,
move the cursor to the measure where you want to cut your song
Press cmd-T to cut all tracks at the same position
select all regions in all tracks to the right of the cut and drag them one measure to the right
Alternately you might show the Master  Track (Main menu; Track -> Show Master Track) and use the Master Volume automation curve to silence all tracks at once for exactly one measure.

  • Mastering but losing my mind with a "gap" between 2 tracks which shouldn't be there. What is wrong?

I have an album which I've been working on for a while and it's now all finished with the exception of one small glitch...
Throughout the album I have a around 4 overlapping tracks, when burning the tracks to a disc, 3 out of 4 of the tracks crossover into the next track perfectly. 1 of them doesn't...
My 1st method: Paste the 2nd Track over the end of the 1st Track, then cut the 2nd overlapped track and paste back over the original 2nd track, whilst saving over the now shortened 1st track... ( This, whilst not a great method, has never failed me in the past and worked on the the other overlapping tracks).
So I realised this wasn't a great method so then tried method 2.
My 2nd Method: Drop all the mixdowns into one waveform (in Edit view), and create Markers using the Marker List and F8, so that each track starts bang on the next .001 of a second.
Again, for 3 out of the 4 this was fine, but for the other... I can still her the tiniest click!
It's a click the listener will not notice, but it's a click that is killing me because the label putting out the CD is on me to get the final mix to them, but I won't submit it until this click has gone.
    Things I should note:
    1. When played in Winamp, there are no clicks. This is ONLY when burnt to a disc.
    2. I've used Adobe Audition 3.0 to burn the audio disc with no silence between tracks.
    3. I've also used Nero to burn the audio disc with no silence between tracks.
    4. I've used multiple computers/dvd burners to test this.
    5. I've used multiple brands of CD-rs.
    6. I'm very sure that there is not an actually cilck on the waveform.
    7. This is the 1st track leading into the 2nd track (I'm aware there is a 2 second gap before the 1st Track)
    8. I've played the burnt CD-r on my PC, my DVD player, my Computer at work, my car stereo.
Please help me with this, it's driving me nuts as I've worked very hard and perfected the thing, and need to submit it very soon.
Is there any software you would reccomed to split tracks which I should try?
    Thank you!

CD tracks should not be starting on the nearest .001 of a second but 1/75 of a second. The CD standard is 75 frames per second. If tracks do not start on the nearest 1/75 of a second the audio will be filled out to the nearest one causing clicks at the junctions. Make sure that the Display Time Format is set to Compact Disc 75fps and that Snap to Frames is turned on.

  • Mainstage volume patches

    Hello,
Currently working with mainstage and not very expert, my problem consists in finding the way to have an indepent volume on each patch, so that I
can quickly adjust the volume of the entire patch without moving
all single channel strip's faders in the patch, and without altering the output level of the other patches.
The output 1-2 track in the patch is a "global" track, it changes for all
    the patches.
    Anyone can help me??
    Thanks and happynewyear
    Leandro

    Hello, thanks for your answers!.
In fact , I've patches with up to 8 channel strips, and I need to change the patches very quickly in the same song. So my goal is to pre-adjust easily the level of all my patches
in order that when I change a patch (while playing), ther will be the same volume between a patch and the other.Of course I can "correct" it after the patch-change with a volume pedal, but, the first notes will be maybe too loud or not enough.
As sugested , I tried to send all channel strips into a bus, in each patch, so that I can "adjust" easily the level of the whole patch's multi-channel strip ensemble.

  • Muting all tracks accept one

Hi everybody. I'm working on a project with 10 audio tracks. I'd like to mute 9 of them. Is there a way to do this in one fell swoop? Or do I have to mute them all one by one?

Sure, you use the mute or solo buttons.
    Maybe this will help?

  • One Instrument change affecting all tracks

I'm having a problem changing the Instrument patch in just one track: When I change the patch (on EXSP24) on a single Audio Instrument track, it automatically applies the same patch change to ALL Audio Instrument tracks. For example:
I've got drums on track 1, Instrument 1, Channel 1.
I create a new Instrument track w/new channel & a different patch. Logic then automatically assignes this new patch to the previous drum track also, as well as any other existing Instrument tracks, & any new tracks I try to create! Any change I make in one track comes up the same on every track.
What gives? Does this have anything to do with choosing Mono, Stereo or Multi Channel in the I/O slot? Does the Cycle function have anything to do with it?
This is aggravating & my ProCare tutor can't figure it out either. I'm pretty new to Logic, but then again I get the sense that so is my ProCare tutor...

I can't believe your basic question has been ignored for this long. This is something that I had hoped somebody else would give you a better answer for because it has driven me crazy as well, but I do have a work around for you that I stumbled across. The manual as usual has been unhelpful, the proper information is probably filed away in a tiny corner somewhere. Here's how I do it. Use the Create command from the the Track sub-menu of the arrange window. Logic will create a track under and with the same assignment as whatever track was highlighted prior to that command. Any changes to the assignment of either of these tracks will affect the other, which could be very useful, but shouldn't be the default in my opinion. Now click hold in the middle of the track name or icon. Follow the menu hierarchy as such: Audio>Audio Instrument>Inst X, X being a different number than the instrument number of your initial highlighted track. You could also select Audio Track, Bus, Aux or Output this way. You can now go to the channel strip and select whatever software instrument assignments you like for either track and they will work independently of each other. This is way too many commands for something as elementary as setting up a new track. I've assumed that there is a more elegant way to do this but I can't find it in the manual. If any of my fellow geniuses know of a more streamlined method, please add it to this thread.

  • QuickTime GM Synth Banks and Drum patches

    Hello,
I am using QuickTime GM Synth Instruments as my Playback sound source for Time Warp Technologies' Home Concert Extreme. (At this point I have no other choice than QuickTime GM Synth)
This Software (Home Concert Extreme) dose not allow me to edit the underlying MIDI file. (It just effects the way it PLAYS the file.
Question 1: Does the QuickTime GM Synth have Multiple Higher Banks, or just one?
Question 2: Does the Quick Time GM Synth have multiple Drum patches for MIDI file tracks on channel Channel 10?
Question 3: If there are multiple drum patches, where on the Net can I get this list and the note names with-in each patch?
Please help if you can. Thank you so much.

  • Grub Legacy with silent patches added (Binary Format x86_64 only)

The other day (before I actually took the time to learn how to use grub2 properly) I downloaded the PKGBUILD for grub legacy and edited it to patch for silence. I haven't found a single place where this is hosted so what the hell I'll post it here!
    Download Link: http://ubuntuone.com/0kxIdONAFFAMc2Zbmwbi1l

FYI: I tried yet another version of solaris as i found out that theres a bug in the 64-bit kernel on update 4 for alot of new processors. Solaris 10 x86 update 7 did the trick! :). Installed right away on a standard 'Solaris 10 (64 bit)' VM. I still find it strange that the most recent version of solaris 10 fails to even start the installation.

  • End of project markers

    Hi
i read some of the post here regarding this and I believe i need to hit option-z then find the purple triangle. Problem is, i only see blue triangles. Is this the same?
I have a 8sec track which i cropped till it's 3sec. When I export it out, the removed part is gone (good) but it is now replaced by silence; the track remains at 8sec.

    Thanks Christoph
I see the ribbon now, but when i "export song to disk" the track is still 8 secs long. Anyway, what i did was i "send song to itunes", then the track becomes 3 secs, like what i adjusted the yellow ribbon to.
Thanks again. You've been a great help.

  • I can't stop my song from looping back to the beginning

I have created some backing tracks for a swing band that has lost its rhythm section and have to date played them back (via a big speaker) using Logic pro X on a macbook air.
I want to use my ipad instead as it's smaller and handier when you have to juggle with ipad, an instrument, sheet music and mutes etc..
I've succeeded in copying tracks exported from Logic into GarageBand iOS version using the "Export All Tracks as Audio Files" option.  I imported them as individual tracks into GB and they play back just fine.  However...
I can't stop them from looping back and starting again, which in a rehearsal environment I DO NOT need!  I assume this is because I had to import them using the loop-loading tool - set to "audio" - in GB iOS.  Can anyone help me get round this please.  Or is there an iOS DAW that would do this job instead of GB?
    Many thanks in advance.

Looks like playback for GB on iOS always loops the current section or the whole song. Export the songs to iTunes and you can play them as you want, probably putting each in its own playlist so it is easier to play once then stop, or by adding long silences between tracks that you can then skip when you are ready.
